    Film parodies are now attracting more popular interest than at almost any time in their history except the first two decades of the 20th century (golden era of film parody). The contemporary renewal of parody is an attractive phenomenon of popular culture. To analyse and recontextualize this renewal of parodistic paradigm in film supporting by new media (spontaneous net art) Hendrykowski has compiled a wide-ranging panorama and collection of classic examples made by many famous but also unknown film-makers. Underlying the entire collection is the author’s personal belief that parody can be divers and rich as particular form of cultural rebellion and social catharsis – by turns comic effect and confusing dialogue in polemical confrontation with common opinion and public point of view established by parodied original.

    The purpose of this paper was to examine the verbal expression of anger in Croatian comedy films and also to find textual and prosodic elements that provoke the viewer’s exhilaration. On the textual level analysis includes elements with which anger causes exhilaration and shows that such anger most often expresses superiority and is also unexpected which often occurs as a result of exaggeration. Due to the specific genre of comedy, i.e. its guaranteed lack of seriousness, the viewers are not aware of high presence of anger in film comedies. Comedy requires a different insight to life situations and a reinterpretation that leads to pleasant emotions.

    The article discusses grammatical, semantic and pragmatic linguistic style indicators appearing in the dialogues of Lech Majewski’s film The Knight from 1980. The analysis of the material proved that the film is dominated by means evoking the old, historical Polish language. The author most often reached for inversion, conventional historicisms (referring to the stereotype of the feudal medieval times) and stylistic, as well as the old forms of address. Stylistic strategy used in the film can be defined as historical stylization. Language of the dialogues harmonizes with fairy-poetic narrative convention of The Knight.

    The article discusses exponents of linguistic stylisation that occur in two polish historical films: Boles³aw the Bold (Dir. Witold Lesiewicz, 1971) and The Nest (Dir. Jan Rybkowski, 1974). Stylistic means are divided into three basic groups: grammatical (syntactic), semantic and pragmatic. The research has shown that the creators of both films applied similar methods of stylisation. They most often used following linguistic tools: analytical forms of the Polish past tense, inversion, item archaisms, bookish vocabulary and old honorific expressions. However, one may notice quantitative differences between analysed works. Exponents of stylisation more often appear in Bolesław the Bold. On the other hand, they exhibit greater diversity in The Nest. In the final part of the article, the author claims that research into film dialogues should become an integral part of Polish stylistics.

    Opis:
    The paper concentrates on the verbal and nonverbal (mimics, gestures) aspects of human-human and human-computer communication, both of which are present in Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Decalogue I. In the first part of my text, I will make an extensive study of the scenes in the film, in which the director reflects on the crux of interpersonal communication (human-human): a conversation between the father and the son; a conversation between the boy and his aunt; the main character’s lecture on communication. In the second part, I will describe Kieślowski’s film which is a pioneering work as it creates statements about the new ways of interpersonal communication, connected with technicalization: a human-computer communication. Detailed analysis of the scenes: “the conversations” between the boy and his mother via the computer; spontaneous starting/start-up of the computer; mathematical “genius” of the machine. In the conclusions, I will mention the director’s reflections on the communication in the year of 1988, which are still up-to-date, as well as those that have outdated.

    Review of the book by Agata Hołobut and Monika Woźniak, Historia na ekranie. Gatunek filmowy a przekład audiowizualny [History on the screen. Film genre and audiovisual translation] (2018). The authors study the impact of historical film on the specificity of audiovisual translation, analysing English-language (British and American) dialogue lists of selected feature films and historical series as well as their available Polish and Italian translations (dubbing, recorded audio commentaries, subtitles). The book successfully combines linguistic, film and stylometric analysis tools.

    Text translation in films, contrary to frequently quoted opinions, did not start with the introduction of sound in films – which occurred in Poland in the 1929/30 cinema season. Prior to that, in the silent cinema period, title cards were a tried and tested way of delivering content to the viewer. And these silent movies’ intertitles were translated. Copies of various foreign films with Polish title cards have even been preserved instead of with the original wording. Imitating title cards for silent films, subtitles began to appear in films with sound and dialogue. These were “inserted subtitles” – between scene edits. The next way of presenting a subtitle was the in-image subtitle, which began modern film subtitling. This article concerns the subtitling of films in Poland in 1931–1939. It endeavours to show the development of Polish film text translation in its initial phase. The article contains previously unpublished pictures of subtitles for films from the discussed period, which come from original archival research.

    The aim of this article is to present an overview of the stylistic measures identifiable in the dialogues of two films whose screenplays were written by Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert – Body (2015) and Mug (2017). The analysis of linguistic and stylistic means has been organised into three categories that can be used to describe the work of this script-writing duo (in line with Adam Kruk’s critical proposition): deliberate schematicity, social hearing (as a metaphor for social sensitivity) and mockery. In the linguistic layer of these films, schematicity comes to the fore through the accumulation of homogeneous linguistic means (especially from the emotional register of colloquial Polish) and contrasting juxtapositions of various social variants of the language. The social hearing of Szumowska and Englert is revealed especially through the presence of linguistic templates, and mockery – in the linguistic joke and in the openly mocking statements of some of the characters. The analysis shows that the dialogues are another testimony to the stylish separateness of Szumowska and Englert and one of the ways to portray Poland as full of internal divisions.

    Professional academic music occupies a special place in the system of culture. The composer’s cultural activity is designed to expand the artistic and aesthetic horizons of public consciousness and to influence the formation of worldviews. In particular, the elite musical culture not only fills the deficit of self-worth of creativity, the spiritual growth of the individual, but also assumes the function of breaking stereotypes. The ideas of dialogue and integration of mass and elite cultures are both negative and positive. On the example of cultural missions of Vladimir Guba and Svyatoslav Krutikov, prominent representatives of Ukrainian culture, members of the group "Kyiv avant-garde" we will outline the influence of elite musical culture on the reconstruction of anthropocentric values.

    Artykuł porusza kwestię relacji pomiędzy filmem a literaturą na przykładach najsłynniejszej książki Michaiła Bułhakowa i inspirowanego nią, lecz będącego samodzielną wypowiedzią artystyczną obrazu Wojciecha Marczewskiego. Z jednej strony szkic stanowi zestawienie interpretacji i spostrzeżeń innych autorów, z drugiej – podejmuje próbę wskazania nowych odniesień komparatystyczno-intertekstualnych. Temu właśnie podporządkowano układ artykułu. W początkowych partiach omówiona została struktura postaci Cenzora, który skupia w sobie kilku powieściowych bohaterów: przede wszystkim Poncjusza Piłata, Berlioza, mistrza czy Judę z Kiriatu. Następnie ukazano sposób manifestowania się w filmie najważniejszych w Mistrzu i Małgorzacie, a niewystępujących na ekranie Jeszui oraz Wolanda, a także innych, pobocznych Bułhakowowskich charakterów. W kolejnej części tekstu analizie poddano motywy, cytaty, schematy stanowiące tworzywo dzieła Wojciecha Marczewskiego oraz reżyserską strategię prowadzącą do ich twórczego przekształcenia. Nadało to jego artystycznej wypowiedzi głębi, czyniąc ją wielopłaszczyznowym traktatem moralno-filozoficznym.
    The article concentrates on the relations between a cinematic production and literature linked to the most famous book by Mikhail Bulgakov that became an inspiration for an independent artistic work by Wojciech Marczewski. On the one hand the sketch consists of different interpretations and observations by other authors. On the other hand it is an attempt to point out new references of comparative intertextual character, thus the structure of the article. At the beginning the article is devoted to the structure of the Censor, who is a mixture of several characters from the book. Especially the Pontius Pilate, Berlioz, the master or Judas from Kiriath. The next part of the article presents the way the most important characters of Master and Margarita who do not show on the screen: Yeshua and Woland together with some secondary characters from the book manifest in the movie. The second part of the article analyzes motives, quotations and patterns that constitute Wojciech Marczewski’s work and his directorial strategy that leads to their artistic transformation. As a result such transformation added to the final work’s depth and allowed the movie to become a multi-layer moral and philosophical treatise.

    The article is devoted to the problem of modeling the structure of film discourse from a functional point of view. The author explained the essence of the concept of “film discourse” and clarified its relationship with related terms. The article denies the expediency of identifying such concepts as “telecine cinematographic discourse” and “cinematographic discourse” with film discourse. The material proves the hyperonymic status of film discourse. It has been noticed that scientists use the following terms in film discourse studies: film text, film dialogue, film replica, film trailer, film announcement and film slogan. It has been determined that film dialogues, film replicas and film slogans are among them of a purely verbal nature. Movie texts, along with movie trailers and movie announcements, accumulate verbal and other semiotic signs. It is established that the connections between the groups of these concepts show the transition from the largest to the smallest: 1) film text – film dialogue – film replica; 2) film trailer – film announcement – film slogan. The expediency of applying a functional approach to modeling the structure of film discourse based on the provisions of the methodology of discourse analysis and the idea of the dyadic nature of the structure of discourse as such is substantiated. However, it is also suggested to take into account the two levels of communication in film discourse (external level – collective author / audience; internal level – addressee character and addressee character) and to distinguish between ectoand entocomponents. Entocomponents are film texts with film dialogues and film lines. These are products of communicative activity that have a certain meaning and semiotic form that can convey this meaning. They are also marked by integrity, completeness and perform a variety of discourse functions, in addition to advertising. Ectocomponents are film trailers, film announcements and film slogans, because they are the products of communicative activities that have their meaning and semiotic form, while being relatively complete and concise with a focus on the implementation of primarily advertising function. It is determined that ento- and ectocomponents in the structure of film discourse interact with each other on the principle of hierarchical subordination. Ectocomponents are subordinated to ethnic components, despite the fact that external components have a wider functional palette. It is proved that the relations between ento- and ectocomponents are established. approximate identity, because movie trailers and movie announcements are almost always created on the basis of pre-borrowed frames, episodes and cues / dialogues from the main movie text. This was confirmed by a comparative analysis of the language organization of the film trailer and the film text of the documentary “Your Vasyl”
    Статтю присвячено проблемі моделювання структури кінодискурсу з функційного погляду. Авторкою висвітлено сутність поняття «кінодискурс» та з’ясувано його зв’язки із суміжними термінами, зокрема спростовано доцільність ототожнення таких понять, як «дискурс фільму», «телекінематографічний дискурс» і «кінематографічний дискурс» із кінодискурсом і доведено гіперонімність останнього. Помічено, що в студіюваннях кінодискурсу вчені використовують і такі терміни: кінотекст, кінодіалог, кінорепліка, кінотрейлер, кіноанонс і кінослоган. Визначено, що з-поміж них суто вербальною природою відзначаються кінодіалоги, кінорепліки та кінослогани, а кінотексти разом із кінотрейлерами та кіноанонсами акумулюють у собі вербальні та інші семіотичні знаки. Встановлено, що зв’язки між групами цих понять демонструють перехід від найбільшого до найменшого: 1) кінотекст – кінодіалог – кінорепліка; 2) кінотрейлер – кіноанонс – кінослоган. Обґрунтувано доцільність застосування функційного підходу до моделювання структури кінодискурсу з опертям на положення методики дискурс-аналізу та ідею про діадичність структури дискурсу як такого. Проте також запропоновано зважати на дворівневість комунікації в кінодискурсі (зовнішній рівень – колективний автор / глядацька аудиторія; внутрішній рівень – персонаж-адресант і персонаж-адресат) і відповідно виокремлювати екто- та ентоскладники. Ентоскладниками є кінотексти з кіно діалогами та кіно репліками, тобто продукти комунікативної діяльності, що мають певний зміст і семіотичну форму, здатну передати цей зміст, а також відзначаються цілісністю, повною завершеністю й виконують різноманітні дискурсні функції, крім рекламної. Ектоскладниками є кінотрейлерами, кіноанонси та кінослогани, оскільки саме вони виступають продуктами комунікативної діяльності, що мають свій зміст і семіотичну форму, відзначаючись при цьому відносною завершеністю та лаконічністю зі скеруванням на реалізацію передусім рекламної функції. Визначено, що енто- та ектоскладники в структурі кінодискурсу взаємодіють між собою за принципом ієрархічної підпорядкованості, причому ектоскладники підпорядковуються етноскладникам, попри те, що перші мають ширшу функційну палітру. Доведено, що між енто- та ектоскладниками встановлюються відношення т. зв. наближеної тотожності, адже кінотрейлери та кіноанонси практично завжди створюються на основі попередньо запозичених кадрів, епізодів і реплік / діалогів з основного кіно тексту. Це підтверджено шляхом порівняльного аналізу передусім мовної організації кінотрейлера та кінотексту документального фільму «Ваш Василь».
