Celem badań przedstawionych w niniejszym opracowaniu była ocena funkcjonalności elementów armatury pożarniczej oraz rozmieszczenia i użytkowania elementów wyposażenia badanych typów samochodów pożarniczych (wozów strażackich). Wozy strażackie biorą bezpośredni udział akcjach ratowniczo-gaśniczych, a także służą do transportu sprzętu pożarniczego i osób obsługujących takie akcje. Ze tego względu muszą być nieustannie w stanie gotowości oraz najwyższej sprawności technicznej. Wszelkie rozwiązania, które podnoszą poziom ergonomiczny związany z obsługą tych samochodów oraz sprzętu mogą wpływać na skuteczność działań operacyjnych oraz bezpieczeństwo strażaków.
The aim of the study presented in this paper was to assess the functionality of the elements of fire-fighting fitting, and the arrangement and exploitation of elements of the equipment of the studied types of fire-fighting vehicles (fire engines). Fire-fighting vehicles participate directly in fire-fighting and rescue actions. They are also used to transport fire-fighting equipment and personnel. For this reason, they have to be ready for action and to maintain top technical performance all the time. All solutions which raise the ergonomic level connected with operating the vehicles and equipment may influence the effectiveness of operational actions, and the safety of fire-fighting personnel.

Against the general opinion the history of graffiti goes back to the beginnings of civilization. There are numerous examples of graffiti, for instance the inscriptions hollowed with a chisel found on the ancient household artifacts or on the walls. The inscriptions had an informative function but they were also magical. The phenomenon of spray art was widespread in the 1960s and the beginning of the Polish taggers subculture was in the 1980s, although one can find street art during the Second World War. But it is usually neglected or disregarded in the Polish literature. The Anchor – the sign of “Fighting Poland”, was placed on pavements, walls, notice boards or train stops of the occupied country. It was the sign of the fight for freedom and independence. As the years passed, the Polish reality was changing and the role of graffiti also changed. Now, it expresses itself in slogans, appeals, messages, drawings, portraits or murals. The aim of the work is to show the role of the Polish graffiti between 1942 and 2011. The author analyses graffiti in a number of aspects and throughout many years. The author identifies Polish spray art with teenage rebellion, sense of humor, political engagement, commentary or the negation of reality. Moreover, the article focuses on social, psychological or urban aspects of the examined phenomenon and identifies it with widespread modern hip-hop culture.

Russian federation has a lot of special technologies for applications of extinguishing agents. Modern approaches include aerial firefighting technology, explosives, chemical agents inducing raining etc. Military industry continues to develop new resources, which are later adjusted to rescue and emergency purposes. Forest fires are very often fought by specialized technologies including special terrain vehicles, aircrafts using water bags with fire retardants which are very effective in stopping the fire spread.

Imperium Rosyjskie opanowało Kaukaz Północny w XIX wieku.  Osiedlano tam głównie  Kozaków.  Miejscowa ludność wyznawała islam, co zbliżało ją do Persji oraz Imperium Osmańskiego. Po rewolucji 1917 r. w Rosji Kaukaz Północny był terenem walk sił „białych”,  „czerwonych” oraz ludności miejscowej z Kozakami.  Ostatecznie zwyciężyli bolszewicy i włączyli ten obszar do ZSRR. 
The Russian Empire invaded the North Caucasus in the 19th century. It was mainly Cossacks who settled there. The local population was Islamic, which made them closer to Persia and the Ottoman Empire. After the 1917 revolution in Russia, the North Caucasus was the scene of battles between the “white”, “red” forces and local population with the Cossacks. Ultimately, the Bolsheviks won and incorporated the area into the USSR.

Safety of navigation is a complex problem which consists of many aspects. Seagoing and the level of training contribute to one making the right decisions in accordance with the principles of conduct. Crew training takes place at sea, as well as in maritime training centres. The article describes the safety problems of a warship in the event of fires in various regions of the vessel, hull puncture and unsealing. The problems connected with the identification of damage, its types and methods and tools to repair it have been described. The simulator of damage control has been described and scenarios of events which can be simulated have been presented. One of the scenarios – fire in the engine room – has been chosen and the course of the training with the use of the HOMAR OPA (organization of operations against fire and water), simulator produced by The Autocomp company for the Navy Training Center in Ustka, has been described. The main subjects of trainings are connected with fire safety, fire simulation, fire fighting, hull damages, water and fire defence, investigating damages, warship survivability, repair works etc. The trainings with the use of the simulator include preparation procedures for removing the hull damage and equipment failures as part of the process of securing the proper equipment to fight with water and fires, development of methods for detecting the inflow of water and fire, preparation of procedures to fight with water and fire, training of the crew to fight fires and water. The OPA simulator has been developed on the basis of the latest computer technology, with the use of large-size projection on the screen in the form of a cylinder’s segment.
Bezpieczeństwo żeglugi jest złożonym problemem, na który składa się wiele aspektów. Na podejmowanie właściwych decyzji oraz zgodne z zasadami postępowanie wpływa praktyka morska i wyszkolenie. Szkolenie załóg odbywa się podczas rejsów morskich, jak również w ośrodkach szkolenia morskiego. W artykule opisano problemy bezpieczeństwa okrętu wojennego w sytuacji wystąpienia pożarów w różnych rejonach jednostki, przebić kadłuba oraz rozszczelnień. Przedstawiono problemy identyfikacji uszkodzeń, ich rodzaje oraz metody i narzędzia do ich naprawy. Opisano symulator obrony przeciwawaryjnej i scenariusze zdarzeń, które mogą zostać zasymulowane. Wybrano scenariusz pożaru w siłowni oraz opisano przebieg szkolenia załogi na nowo powstałym symulatorze HOMAR OPA (Centrum Szkolenia MW w Ustce). Szkolenie na symulatorze obejmuje procedury przygotowania do usunięcia awarii kadłuba i urządzeń w zakresie zabezpieczenia odpowiedniego sprzętu do walki z wodą i pożarami, opracowanie metod wykrywania napływu wody i wystąpienia pożarów, przygotowanie procedur przeciwdziałania do walki z wodą i pożarami, przeszkolenie załogi w walce z wodą i pożarami. Symulator OPA zbudowany został na bazie najnowszej technologii komputerowej z użyciem wielkogabarytowej projekcji na ekranie będącym wycinkiem walca.

Among grandnesses characterizing fighting vehicles is the so called mobility whose propriety have the essential influence on the dynamic of the vehicle in the field and the active protection against paralyzing chemicals. One of factors having the influence on the motility is the kind and the type of the driving system. Nowadays, the overwhelming majority of tracked fighting vehicles (tanks and infantry fighting vehicles)are equipped with drive unit of the hydro-mechanical type. This type of systems significantly increase motion and mobility proprieties of the vehicle. In the basic tank is implemented a drive unit of the mechanical type. One made an attempt modernizations and the replacement of him with the hydro-mechanical system. As supplementary was accepted hydro-mechanical drive unit whose the construction is modeled on the system HSWL for the heavy vehicle. One skipped the range of adaptive works of the system inside the vehicle. The main attention was concentrated on the influence of the modernization on his traction proprieties. One worked out the original numeric program to determine the traction characteristic of tracked fighting vehicles and special vehicles named DYNH. Data for the analysis one prepared and one worked out using the accessible technical documentation and the expert knowledge of the investigative team. On the work one included some results of numerical calculations of traction proprieties of the tracked fighting vehicle equipped with hydro mechanical drive unit of the type arranged in rows, first class. Results were presented in the form of charts of dynamic and turn characteristics.

Problem. Is it possible to apply the principles of martial arts in life, in professional practice, and in management? We will check it on the example of Professor Kazimierz Obodyński. Method. The author uses the method of participant observation (1987–2015), document analysis, and content literature analysis. Results. Judo practice took place, but essentially the path of “spiritual jujutsu and judo” was implemented, which was associated with management and activities in various scientific and social organizations. Conclusions. In the analyzed case of Professor Kazimierz Obodyński, applying the principles of martial ways in life, in professional practice, and in managing various institutions proved to be possible and effective.

Based on documents preserved in the archive of Tymon Terlecki, the editor of „Polska Walcząca” („Fighting Poland”), a weekly for the Polish Armed Forces in World War II, the article addresses the issue of unofficial censorship. Pieces that had been checked and authorized for publication by both the British and Polish military censors often provoked the ire of émigré government circles, ministry officials and other institutions. Official spheres were particularly sensitive to criticism and reacted indignantly to reports that touched on thorny social or psychological issues. In his memoranda to army superiors, Terlecki stated his belief that to earn the trust of its readers the weekly may serve as an instrument of propaganda and education, but should on no account become an official government or ministerial gazette. Its duty was to voice the doubts and concerns of the soldiers, however seemingly trivial, and resist external pressure motivated by wounded sensibilities.

Pojazd pożarniczy to specjalnie przygotowany i oznakowany samochód używany przez jednostki straży pożarnej albo inną jednostkę ochrony przeciwpożarowej do udziału w akcjach ratowniczo-gaśniczych lub innych działaniach ratowniczych (np. akcje ratownicze na wysokości, ratownictwo techniczne, chemiczne). Wśród pojazdów pożarniczych największą grupę stanowią samochody ratowniczo-gaśnicze. Każda jednostka na swoim wyposażeniu posiada co najmniej jeden samochód tego typu. W większości dużych i średnich miast jednostki interwencyjne posiadają również podnośniki hydrauliczne i/lub drabiny obrotowe. Z uwagi na swoją specyficzną zabudowę mogą być one wykorzystywane do prowadzenia działań ratowniczo-gaśniczych na wysokości samodzielnie, lub przy współpracy z pojazdami ratowniczo-gaśniczymi. W artykule przedstawiono informacje o podwoziach i rodzajach zawieszeń pojazdów pożarniczych, omówiono m.in. stosowane silniki (sposoby redukcji toksycznych składników spalin), rodzaje skrzyń biegów, układy hamulcowe i związane z nimi układy wspomagające pracę kierowcy: ABS, ESP, BAS. Przedstawiono także konstrukcje kabin załogi samochodów ratowniczo-gaśniczych, układy elektroniczne stosowane do przesyłania danych i sterowania pojazdem. Opisano rozwój i współczesne konstrukcje drabin i podnośników hydraulicznych. W dobie tak wielkiego skoku technologicznego na świecie, również w Polsce możemy obserwować dynamicznie rozwijający się rynek. Dbałość o bezpieczeństwo i niezawodność wymusiła na producentach samochodów specjalnych (m.in. pożarniczych) wprowadzenie nowych rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych. Lawinowo wzrosła ilość nowoczesnych układów elektronicznych, pneumatycznych i hydraulicznych oraz urządzeń automatyki. Ponadto wzrosły też oczekiwania użytkowników, którzy, bardziej świadomi zagrożeń wynikających z charakteru ich pracy, żądają sprzętu najwyższej jakości.
Fire-fighting vehicle is a specially prepared and marked vehicle used by fire departments or other fire protection unit to participate in rescue and fire fighting actions or other statutory activities (such as rescue at height, technical and chemical rescue). Among the fire-fighting vehicles the largest group are cars rescue and fire-fighting. Each unit in their inventory has at least one such a car. In most large and medium cities we can meet also hydraulic rescue platforms and/or turntable ladders. Due to its specific buildings they can be used for firefighting and rescue operations at height as vehicles of self or in cooperation with rescue and firefighting vehicles. The article presents information about the chassis and suspension types of fire fighting vehicles, among others, are discussed engines (ways to reduce toxic exhaust), the types of gear boxes, braking systems, in this their associated systems to support the work of the driver: ABS, ESP, BAS. The crew cab construction, rescue and firefighting vehicles, electronic systems and data transmission control of the vehicle were presented. The article describes the development and present constructions of ladders and hydraulic rescue platforms. In the era of so great a technological leap in the world, including in Poland, we can observe the fast growing market. Caring for the safety and reliability has forced manufacturers of special vehicles (fire fighting) the introduction of new construction solutions. The number of new electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and automation devices rapidly increased. What has also has increased was the expectations of users who begin more aware of the risks arising from the nature of their work, they demand high quality equipment.
