Wykorzystywanie bajki jako narzędzia terapeutycznego sięga czasów starożytnych bo już Grecy stosowali bajkę jako narzędzie oddziaływania na emocje postawy i zachowania człowieka. Dziecko poprzez baśnie dokonuje bowiem paraleli pomiędzy sobą a bohaterem i poprzez jego przeżycia i jego doświadczenia tworzy swój własny zasób kompetencji poznawczych, emocjonalnych lub społecznych niezbędnych do poradzenia sobie z daną sytuacją w swoim własnym życiu. Co ciekawe – co podkreśla B. Bettelheim – dziecko wybiera z baśni, to na co jest gotowe, z czym jest w stanie się w danej chwili się zmierzyć, na takim poziomie jak jest to mu potrzebne. Baśnie stanowią zatem istotne narzędzie poznania świata dziecka a nawet powiedziałabym że są „narzędziem dekodowania społeczno-kulturowego" które umożliwia dzieciom poznanie i zrozumienie świata dorosłych a dorosłym odkrycie tego co dzieje się w umysłach dzieci. Powstaje, zatem pytanie jakie mamy rodzaje bajek terapeutycznych? Jak przygotować baję? Jak można wykorzystać ją w codziennej pracy wychowawczej? Niniejszy artykuł stanowi ukazanie metody przygotowania bajki terapeutycznej oraz zaprezentowania przykładów wykorzystywania jej w pracy wychowawczej i edukacyjnej z dziećmi.
Use of fairy tales as a therapeutic tool dates back to ancient times because Greeks already used fairy tales as a tool to impact human emotions, attitudes and behavior. By fairy tales, children make a parallel between themselves and the protagonists and through the protagonists’ experiences they develop their own cognitive, emotional or social competencies necessary to deal with specifi c situations in their own lives. Interestingly – as stressed by B. Bettelheim – children select from fairy tales things they are ready for, what they can handle at a given moment, at the level they need. Fairy tales are therefore an important tool for children to learn about the world and I would even say that they are “tools for social and cultural decoding” which help children to get to know and understand the adult world. On the other hand, they are tools that enables adults to discover what is happening in the children’s minds of. Thus, a question arises, what kinds of therapeutic fairy tales exist. How to prepare a fairy tale? How can they be used in everyday educational work? This article presents a method of preparing a therapeutic fairy tale and examples of using fairy tales in educational work with children.

An analysis of the process concerning transfer of archetypal symbols in fairy-tale plots, conducted firom the perspective of depth psychology (C.G. Jung), reveals the human being to be a culture creator (homo culturalis), who uses vivid language and aims at abstracting a multidimensional sense of existence. The paradigm of archetypal literary criticism (N. Frye) offers multidimensional insights into a work of literature and demonstrates the shifts of the arche, a constant adjustment of archetypes to the demands of the present. When attempting to determine the archetypal order in the works of Marta Tomaszewska, one should be aware of the fact that it is one of many possible efforts to read multi-perspective symbolic contents and it validates the thesis presuming an endless source of the collective unconscious.

The article discusses the psychoanalytical interpretation of Leśmian’s fairy tale The adventures of Sindbad Sailor by Bogusław Grodzki. Following Freud’s and Bettelheim’s concepts, it claims that Sindbad’s psychosexual development and his relations with the princesses reflect Leśmian’s phantasms – the poet’s erotic/sexual desires. In Grodzki’s work fiction seems to be an autobiographical tale and verbal psychotherapy. Misiak, on the other hand, presents the sex/gender categories and introduces the distinction between the autobiography and autofiction as well as certain poststructural and feminist categories.

This article proposes a reflection on a tale that can be a bridge between “literature for children and teens” and “literature for adults”: The Bears’ Famous Invasion of Sicily by Dino Buzzati. It offers a link between fable and fantasy novel and contains all of the elements of the fairy tale that Vladimir Propp planned in 1928: loss, departure, challenges to overcome, reward, and return. It is closely connected to its historical reality (the period after the Second World War), but at the same time it detaches itself from that period through the fantastic element. In short, the book is a mirror of Buzzati’s literary personality and the first literary work of a restless but sensitive author who always felt linked to painting and writing, to adults and children, to reality and evasion.
Il presente contributo propone una riflessione su un racconto da sempre in grado di fare da ponte tra “letteratura per bambini e ragazzi” e “letteratura per adulti”: La famosa invasione degli orsi in Sicilia di Dino Buzzati è infatti un romanzo di confine, un anello di congiunzione tra fiaba e romanzo fantastico. Ha in sé tutti gli elementi della fiaba magistralmente gerarchizzati da Vladimir Propp nel 1928 (mancanza, partenza, prove, premio, ritorno), è strettamente connesso alla realtà storica del suo tempo (il secondo dopoguerra) e al tempo stesso se ne distacca con garbo tramite l’elemento fantastico. È, insomma, specchio della personalità letteraria di Dino Buzzati, la prima prova di un autore inquieto e insensibile, da sempre legato da un doppio filo a pittura e scrittura, adulti e bambini, contemporaneità ed evasione.

Tradycyjne obrazy bajkowe w prozie Wiktora Astafiewa i Aalentyna RasputinaGłównym celem artykułu jest ukazanie specyfiki funkcjonowania tradycyjnych obrazów bajkowych w prozie Wiktora Astafiewa i Walentyna Rasputina. Tradycjonalizm pisarzy, przedstawienie w ich utworach życia wewnętrznego bohaterów, otoczenia i środowiska społecznego człowieka rosyjskiego postrzegane jest w artykule poprzez odniesienia do ustnej twórczości ludowej. Autorzy umiejętnie i niejako organicznie wykorzystują obrazy mitooetyckie i folklorystyczne. Walentyn Rasputin częściej niż inni pisarze odwołuje się do motywów bajkowych i poetyki bajki. Wiktor Astafiew z kolei buduje system postaci, opierając się na tradycji ludowej, szczególnie wykorzystuje chwyt trzykrotnego powtórzenia i narrację mitologiczną.
The main purpose of this article is to identify the type of the functioning of traditional fairy-tale images in the prose of Astafiev and Rasputin. In the appeal to oral folk art we can see the traditional character of writers and their typological proximity in the image of the inner world of the Russian person, their being, environment and social environment. The authors skilfully and organically include mythopoetic and folkloric images. Rasputin uses fairy-tale images and fairy-tale poetics more actively than other writers, whilst Astafiev builds a system of characters based on the folkloric tradition, using, in particular, the motif of triple repetition and the mythological story.

From the 18th century on Arabian Nights  has been influencing European imaginary, especially culture and literature. It created European vision of the Orient as well. In the 20th century popular culture gave high recognisability to many elements of Arabian Nights (such as characters: Sindbad, Aladdin or magical artefacts: a flying carpet, magic lamp). Scheherazade as an allegory for narrative art became the most important figure for scholars studying the book. The paper shows how two contemporary book cycles make intertextual links to Arabian Nights . Orphan’s Tale  by Catherynne M. Valente, Harun and the Sea of stories  and Luka and the fire of Life by Salman Rushdie rewrite the elements of Arabian Nights , such as characters, artefacts and linguistic allusion to the Orient. However, the narration in the works by both writers is completely different: Valente recreated a sophisticated device of narration known from the book, whereas Rushdie gave his novels a simple, linear composition. Scheherazade’s gift to spin story out of a life is needed for different aims. For Rushdie telling fairy tales is useful in writing about life of literature itself, for Valente it is important for creating an alternative to the patriarchal vision of the world.

Baśń o perle (ang. Fairy tale about a pearl) by Anna Gibasiewicz (2016), is a moving story of heroes, whose fates intertwine in extraordinary circumstances, a tale of transformation and searching for the most important things in life. By its form the fairy tale refers to the folk magic tales, the mood of melancholy is similar to Andersen’s fairy tales. The story is addressed to children at the early school age. On its example, I look at the contemporary implementation of the traditional genre, which is a fairy tale and the values carried by the story. I pay attention to fairy tales, which may form the basis for educational activities with children. Analyzing the literary text of Baśń o perle (ang. Fairy tale about pearl) I refer to psychoanalytic interpretations of folk tales made by Bruno Bettelhaim and archetypal critique by Alicja Baluch. Reading fairy tales to the contemporary child still can perform a „miraculous and useful” role in his social and emotional development.

The purpose of this paper is to present some motifs in Bolesław Leśmian’s Klechdy polskie. I am primarily interested in the fairytales’ poetics of economy related to the motifs of money and treasure. I also analyse the erotic desire which exceeds the traditional social order and the relationship between the word and object. All these motifs create Leśmian’s vision of reality, which cannot be included in the established cognitive and ethical rules.

A dramatic fairy tale is the expression of a specific historical moment. At the turn of the 19th and 20th century original forms of dialogue with tradition and new ways of developing literature were searched at the same time. It seems that the dramatic tale - absent in most compendiums devoted to the literature of modernism - is one of the best examples of unstable forms that reflect in their structure the dilemmas accompanying the writing at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. What matters here is a specific type of folklore and links with the fairy-tale play and commedia dell’ arte.

The article aims at analysing the motif of dream and its function in fairy tales and stories by Hans Christian Andersen. The Dannish author wrote during the Romantic era when the unconscious was of great interest to the creators of all kind. It was widely acknowledged then that dreams are a gateway to a hidden reality, and therefore, they constituted a great creative material. In Andersen’s work, the oneiric narrative abounds, for instance in Little Ida’s Flowers and The Little Match Girl, and dreams perform multitudinoulsy functions, from familiarizing children with death, to unveiling fears. The examples of dreams presented in the article indicate to the fact that Andersen’s oeuvre was addressed not only to children, but also adults.

The article introduces many version of dramatized Cinderella and it shows that the fairy tale in the version of Charles Perrault and brothers Grimm (includes Cinderella motif) in the Polish drama and theatre has been not particularly popular. One of the reasons may be that few writers (including authors for children) have related to this story. Cinderella has been overshadowed by the story of the Polish Faust – Twardowski – and adaptations of original fairytales. On the other hand, the conventional nature of the Cinderella motif provoked many fresh, satirical or metaphorical depictions. An uncharted territory remain amateur shows at homes, schools and kindergartens – these are intriguing extensions to the story that lets children examine the reality before they fully enter it with their natural energy and hope.

W artykule podjęta została próba egzemplifikacji ludowego motywu ożywiania przedmiotów oraz ludzi przez rysunek. Taki akt kreacji nie został dotychczas sklasyfikowany jako odrębny motyw ustnego folkloru, dlatego przyjęto termin roboczy „motyw kreacji przez rysunek”. Przykłady realizacji motywu odnaleziono w gatunkach polskiego, ukraińskiego i rosyjskiego folkloru (legendy ajtiologiczne, legendy bohaterskie, bajki magiczne, bajki humorystyczne), polskiego e-folkloru (demotywatory) oraz w polskiej i rosyjskiej literaturze i kinematografii dla dzieci. Motyw kreacji przez rysunek jest obecny w tekstach kultury o różnej intencji nadawczej – informacyjnej (legendy ajtiologiczne, legendy o bohaterach), ludycznej (humoreski, demotywatory), kompensacyjnej (bajka magiczna), dydaktycznej (literatura i kinematografia dziecięca) i nostalgicznej (demotywatory). Trwałość motywu kreacji przez rysunek w różnych tekstach kultury wynika z uniwersalnej tęsknoty człowieka za możliwością szybkiej realizacji pragnień i poprawy własnego życia lub świata.
The article attempts to illustrate the folk motif of bringing objects and people to life by means of drawing them. Such an act of creation has not yet been classified as an independent motif of oral folklore, so the working term: “the creation by drawing motif” was chosen. Examples of the implementation of the motif have been found in various genres of Polish, Ukrainian and Russian folklore (porquoi stories, heroic tales, magical fairy tales, humorous fairy tales), Polish e-folklore (demotivators) and in children’s literature and cinematography (Polish and Russian). This motif is present in cultural texts with different broadcasting intentions – informative (porquoi stories), ludic (humoresques, demotivators), compensatory (heroic legends, magical fairy tales), didactic (children’s literature and cinematography) and nostalgic (demotivators). The permanence of the creation by drawing motif in various cultural texts results from the universal longing for the possibility of a quick fulfilment of desires and improvement of one’s own life or the world.

Hoodwinked! is a computer-animated movie retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Although the storyline of a little girl who is harassed by the wolf while going to her grandma is retained, the creators have played with narrative conventions and changed it into a whodunit musical with the “Rashomon effect”. Many unexpected twists added to the story build up a completely new picture of the commonly known fairy tale. This paper focuses on the unique intertextuality of Hoodwinked! which is a prime example of the postmodern genre with a host of cinematic allusions and pop culture references. The analysis of these elements and ones specific for a folktale prove that such a combination forms a palatable product that cannot be called a pale imitation.
Hoodwinked! to film będący przykładem animacji komputerowej, który opowiada na nowo historię Czerwonego Kapturka. Choć główna oś fabuły, w której mała dziewczynka zostaje zaatakowana przez wilka podczas swej wyprawy do babci, jest w nim zachowana, do znanej baśni wprowadzono też wiele zmian. Przede wszystkim twórcy filmu zabawili się narracyjną konwencją, zmieniając historię w musicalowy kryminał z „efektem Rashomon”. Stąd wiele niespodziewanych zwrotów akcji zmienia obraz dobrze znanego utworu. Opis:
The article analyzes relations between the text and the image as two different semiotic modes in the framework of multimodal studies. Key theoretical approaches to this issue are outlined. Visual and verbal narratives are examined at three levels: ideational, interpersonal and textual. The ideational meaning system comprises actions, characters and circumstances. The interpersonal system covers a wide range of issues connected with interaction between the reader and the characters. The textual meaning is realized by giving prominence to certain objects in the image or the text. Logico-semantic relations of elaboration, enhancement and extension are revealed. Elaboration is characterized by clarification and exemplification, the image may be more general than the text, and vice versa. Enhancement relations include various circumstances (temporal, spatial, causal), besides, both the text and the image may enhance each other. Extension adds new, semantically unrelated information and offers alternative ways of story unfolding. The research is based on contemporary picture books (J. Scieszka, L. Anholt, F. French, R. Munsch) and illustrated fairy tales (E. Delessert, B. Ensor) and directed at revealing various types of text-image relations.
