    In the paper the extremal dynamic error x(τ) and the moment of time τ are considered. The extremal value of dynamic error gives information about accuracy of the system. The time τ gives information about velocity of transient. The analytical formulae enable design of the system with prescribed properties. These formulae are calculated due to the assumption that x(τ) is a function of the roots s1, ..., sn of the characteristic equation.

    In the article solution of the problem of extremal value of x(τ) is presented, for the n-th order linear systems. The extremum of x(τ) is considered as a function of the roots s1, s2, ... sn of the characteristic equation. The obtained results give a possibility of decomposition of the whole n-th order system into a set of 2-nd order systems.

    For a hereditary property let $k_{}(G)$ denote the number of forbidden subgraphs contained in G. A graph G is said to be weakly -saturated, if G has the property and there is a sequence of edges of G̅, say $e₁,e₂,...,e_l$, such that the chain of graphs $G = G₀ ⊂ G_0 + e₁ ⊂ G₁ + e₂ ⊂ ... ⊂ G_{l-1} + e_l = G_l = K_n(G_{i+1} = G_i + e_{i+1})$ has the following property: $k_{}(G_{i+1}) > k_{}(G_i)$, 0 ≤ i ≤ l-1.
    In this paper we shall investigate some properties of weakly saturated graphs. We will find upper bound for the minimum number of edges of weakly ₖ-saturated graphs of order n. We shall determine the number wsat(n,) for some hereditary properties.

    We say that a graph $G$ is maximal $K_p$-free if $G$ does not contain $K_p$ but if we add any new edge $e \in E(\bar{G})$ to $G$, then the graph $G + e$ contains $K_p$. We study the minimum and maximum size of non-($p$ − 1)-partite maximal $K_p$-free graphs with $n$ vertices. We also answer the interpolation question: for which values of $n$ and $m$ are there any $n$-vertex maximal $K_p$-free graphs of size $m$?

    Opis:
    For a graph G = (V,E) and a vertex v ∈ V, let T(v) be a local trace at v, i.e. T(v) is an Eulerian subgraph of G such that every walk W(v), with start vertex v can be extended to an Eulerian tour in T(v). We prove that every maximum edge-disjoint cycle packing Z* of G induces a maximum trace T(v) at v for every v ∈ V. Moreover, if G is Eulerian then sufficient conditions are given that guarantee that the sets of cycles inducing maximum local traces of G also induce a maximum cycle packing of G.

    Some results related to extremal problems with free poles on radial systems are generalized. They are obtained by applying the known methods of geometric function theory of complex variable. Sufficiently good numerical results for γ are obtained.

    This paper extends to infinite graphs the most general extremal issues, which are problems of determining the maximum number of edges of a graph not containing a given subgraph. It also relates the new results with the corresponding situations for the finite case. In particular, concepts from ‘finite’ graph theory, like the average degree and the extremal number, are generalized and computed for some specific cases. Finally, some applications of infinite graphs to the transportation of dangerous goods are presented; they involve the analysis of networks and percolation thresholds.

    Problemy rachunku wariacyjnego oraz sterowania optymalnego to z jednej strony dwie intensywnie rozwijane teorie matematyczne, z drugiej strony obie sprowadzają się do badania warunkowych zagadnień extremalnych. Zasada Lagrange'a pozwala zamienić poszukiwanie ekstremum warunkowego na poszukiwanie punktów stacjonarnych funkcji Lagrange'a. Idea ta może mieć zastosowania jeszcze w wielu zagadnieniach wychodzących poza pierwotne rozważanie jej twórcy.
    Calculus of variations and optimal control theory are on one hand side intensively developing mathematical theories on the other at the center of both of them lies investigating of extremal problems. In connection with extremal problems there naturally arise questions important for mathematics and applications: 1) does there exist a solution of the problem? 2) is the solution unique? 3) how to really find the solution? For problems with constrains, a general principle was proposed by Lagrange. This idea can be generalized far beyond the limits of the problems that he considered. In the paper we present unified formulation of problems of calculus of variations and optimal control in connection with Lagrange principle.
