This paper presents an approach to assembly planning in the early phase of product development. The product specification, workstation, environment, equipment and tools are not fully known in the early stage of product development. When comparing product variants at this stage there is a lack of data that affects the efficiency of the manufacturing process. It is therefore necessary to apply methods useful in processing incomplete and uncertain data. The main indicator which helps in comparing different product variants is manufacturing time standard. This papier is focused on assembly tool selection which is one of important data influenced assembly time. Based on the proposed algorithm and case study, a tool selection method using a decision tree induced from a training set with reduced uncertainty is presented.

Opis:
A variety of numerical approaches for reasoning with uncertainty have been investigated in the literature. We propose rough membership functions, rm-functions for short, as a basis for such reasoning. These functions have values in the interval [0,1] and are computable on the basis of the observable information about the objects rather than on the objects themselves. We investigate properties of the rm-functions. In particular, we show that our approach is intensional with respect to the class of all information systems [P91]. As a consequence we point out some differences between the rm-functions and the fuzzy membership functions [Z65], e.g. the rm-function values for X ∪ Y (X ∩ Y) cannot be computed in general by applying the operation max(min) to the rm-function values for X and Y.

Radar jest przykładem urządzenia nawigacyjnego, za pomocą którego możliwe jest monitorowanie obszarów wodnych. Charakteryzuje się on, jak każde urządzenie techniczne, pewnym ograniczonym poziomem funkcjonalności oraz niezawodności. Rozmieszczenie stacji obserwacyjnych w taki sposób, aby prawdopodobieństwo wykrycia dowolnego obiektu w dowolnym miejscu było większe od zadanej wartości progowej, jest zadaniem optymalizacyjnym. Sformułowanie oraz metoda rozwiązania powyższego zadania zostały przedstawione w prezentowanym artykule.
The radar is an example of a navigational device which enables monitoring of the sea areas. As every technical device, it is characterized by a certain limited level of functionality and reliability. Arranging observation stations so that plausibility of detecting any object at any place is greater than the threshold value is an operational research task. Formulation of the problem and the methods for solving it are presented in the paper.

In order to solve the problem of misjudgment caused by the traditional power grid fault diagnosis methods, a new fusion diagnosis method is proposed based on the theory of multi-source information fusion. In this method, the fault degree of the power element is deduced by using the Bayesian network. Then, the time-domain singular spectrum entropy, frequency-domain power spectrum entropy and wavelet packet energy spectrum entropy of the electrical signals of each circuit after the failure are extracted, and these three characteristic quantities are taken as the fault support degree of the power components. Finally, the four fault degrees are normalized and classified as four evidence bodies in the D-S evidence theory for multi-feature fusion, which reduces the uncertainty brought by a single feature body. Simulation results show that the proposed method can obtain more reliable diagnosis results compared with the traditional methods.

The purpose of this article is to summarize methods used to evaluate the 16 Models of Relational Competence Theory (RCT). Methods to verify the validity and usefulness of these Models must take into account how these models are interrelated. This interrelatedness allows to evaluate participants with single and multi-function statically objective self-report, paper-and--pencil tests. Psychological interventions occur dynamically and systematically through workbooks, written, interactive practice exercises, administered to participants at a distance. Workbooks were developed from theory-derived, theory-related, or theory-independent sources and objective tests and measures, thus combining and matching evaluation with intervention in ways that would be diffi cult if not impossible to accomplish verbally in face-to-face psychotherapy.

The quick leakage alarm and the accurate concentration prediction are two important aspects of natural gas safety monitoring. In this paper, a rapid monitoring method of sensor data sharing, rapid leakage alarm and simultaneous output of concentrations prediction is proposed to accelerate the alarm speed and predict the possible impact of leakage. In this method, the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory is used to fuse the trend judgment and the CUSUM (cumulative sum) and the Gauss-Newton iteration is used to predict the concentration. The experiment system based on the TGS2611 natural gas sensor was built. The results show that the fusion method is significantly better than the single monitoring method. The alarm time of fusion method was more advanced than that of the CUSUM method and the trend method (being averagely, 10.4% and 7.6% in advance in the CUSUM method and the trend method respectively). The relative deviations of the predicted concentration were the maximum (13.3%) at 2000 ppm (parts per million) and the minimum (0.8%) at 6000 ppm, respectively.

Navigation aids indications, measured distances and bearings are random values governed by various distributions, normal characteristic is widely assumed. Navigation handbooks read that mean error of bearing taken with radar is within a given range, distance error is within certain percentage of an obtained value. It is also known that measurements taken to different landmarks can be subjectively evaluated therefore diversified. All the mentioned factors are to be taken into account once vessel position is being fixed. In order to include them into a calculation scheme one has to engage new ideas and use different approaches. Mathematical Theory of Evidence extended for fuzzy environment proved to be universal platform for wide variety of new solutions in navigation.

Mathematical Theory of Evidence (MTE) enables upgrading models and solving crucial problems in many disciplines. MTE delivers new unique opportunity once one engages possibilistic concept. Since fuzziness is widely perceived as something that enables encoding knowledge thus models build upon fuzzy platforms accepts ones skill within given field. At the same time evidence combining scheme is a mechanism enabling enrichment initial data informative context. Therefore it can be exploited in many cases where uncertainty and lack of precision prevail. In nautical applications, for example, it can be used in order to handle data feature systematic and random deflections. Theoretical background was discussed and computer application was successfully implemented in order to cope with erroneous and uncertain data. Output of the application resulted in making a fix and a posteriori evaluating its quality. It was also proven that it can be useful for calibrating measurement appliances. Unique feature of the combination scheme proven by the author in his previous paper, enables identifying measurement systematic deflection. Based on the theorem the paper aims at further exploration of practical aspects of the problem. It concentrates on reduction of hypothesis frame reduction and random along with systematic errors identifications.

This kind of data creates new challenge regarding information association. The challenge is met by Mathematical Theory of Evidence. The theory delivers methods enabling combination of various sources of data. Results of association have informative context increased. Associated data enable the navigator to refine his position and his status regarding dangerous places. The procedure involves uncertainty, ambiguity and vague evidence. Imprecise and incomplete evidence can be combined using extended Dempster-Shafer reasoning scheme.

Diagnoza medyczna bazuje na niepełnej i nieprecyzyjnej informacji, dlatego algorytmy wspomagania wnioskowania medycznego muszą spełniać specyficzne wymagania. Praca koncentruje się na jednoczesnej i równoważnej ocenie parametrów medycznych rozmaitej natury: mierzalnych (np. testy laboratoryjne), formułowanych ściśle (ciąża), określanych nieprecyzyjnie (przyrost wagi), a czasem definiowanych w umownej skali (ból). Proponuje się modelowanie wnioskowania medycznego z zastosowaniem teorii Dempstera-Shafera rozszerzonej poprzez zdefiniowanie rozmytych elementów ogniskowych. Pozwala to na reprezentację wiedzy w postaci reguł. W przesłankach tych reguł mogą występować zarówno zmienne ilościowe, jak i jakościowe. Każdej regule jest przypisana wartość bazowego prawdopodobiestwa zdefiniowanego zgodnie z teorią Dempstera-Shafera. Funkcje przynależności charakteryzujące zmienne w przesłankach reguł oraz rozkładu bazowego prawdopodobieństwa można wyznaczyć na podstawie danych uczących. Wniosek diagnostyczny jest wynikiem porównania wartości miar przekonania (Bel) dla kilku hipotez. Przedstawiony model wnioskowania został zweryfikowany się dla 3 niezależnych baz danych dotyczących chorób tarczycy.
Medical diagnosis is based on uncertain and imprecise information. Therefore, algorithms that support medical inference comply with specific requirements. This paper is focused on simultaneous and equal estimation of medical parameters of different nature: measurable (like laboratory tests), precisely formulated (pregnancy), described in an imprecise way (putting on weight), or defined on an assumed scale (pain). It is suggested to model a medical inference in the framework of the Dempster-Shafer theory extended for fuzzy focal elements. By means of the proposed algorithm, diagnostic rules can be formulated. Premises of the rules may include both quantity and quality variables. Each rule is assigned with a value of the basic probability assignment that is defined according to the Dempster-Shafer theory. Membership functions of rule predicates as well as the basic probability assignment are found from training data. The diagnostic conclusion is formulated after a comparison of belief values for several hypotheses. The model of inference is verified for 3 independent data bases of thyroid gland diseases.

The purpose of this paper is to find a solution for route planning in a transport networks, where the costs of tracks, factor of safety and travel time are ambiguous. This approach is based on the Dempster-Shafer theory and well known Dijkstra's algorithm. In this approach important are the influencing factors of the mentioned coefficients using uncertain possibilities presented by probability intervals. Based on these intervals the quality intervals of each route can be determined. Applied decision rules can be described by the end user.

In Balmes’ philosophical thought a significant – it seems – co-dependence is revealed, a peculiar logic of consequence that is sketched already in the starting point of his eclectic philosophy. First it is being given in purely common-sense, popular cognition (it is not quite the realism that is presented by St Thomas Aquinas, although Balmes clearly sympathizes with him). From this common-sense background (which is the influence of Reid’s thought) Balmes’ epistemology stems (here, in turn, Cartesian and Leibnitzian origins of his thought are revealed), whose foundation is not consistently realistic, either, and it rather tends towards philosophy of consciousness (philosophy of the subject). And finally, a significant role is played here by Balmes’ concept of the truth – ontic (the concept of being) and logical (epistemology). His discourse is unified by the concept of God as the first Cause of beings, the ultimate source of clarity and certainty of cognition, the ultimate justification (objective and subjective) of the obviousness of the truth, and in the end – the aim, to which the world of things and persons is heading. So, the basic categories of Balmes’ whole neo-scholastic epistemology are “the existence of God” as, in fact, the only guarantee of the truth and certainty, and “human consciousness” as a necessary condition of the possibility to recognize various types of obviousness.
