Opis:

Everyone has the right to dignity, which is assigned by virtue of humanity. Although this right is guaranteed, it is sometimes in different situations violated. It does not always happen in a direct way, but through the actions, which do not take into account the specific needs of individuals due to their differences. The everyday life of such people differs from everyday life of other people. Disability constitutes one of the reasons of this situation. This article is an attempt to draw people’s attention to these aspects of the organization of social life, which not only make life more complicated for people with disabilities, but also contribute to the sense of humiliation that occurs in connection with emerging difficulties.

In Polish drama published after 1989, everyday life is often presented as the fundamental measure of the heroes’ existence. The authors present the changes in the everyday life order, they underline oppressive and overwhelming character of common experiences, they present difficult, aggressive interpersonal relations. For example, in many texts the unavoid-able elements of the everyday life of the heroes are negligence, harms and even crimes. This way of representing everyday life, usually based on traditional mimetic techniques, does not create an idyllic image of everyday life.

Artykuł będący teoretycznym rozwinięciem spostrzeżeń autorki, opartych na wieloletnich badaniach, przekonuje do rozpoznania codzienności jako istotnej wartości w życiu i uczynienia z niej materii samorozwoju dorosłego człowieka oraz poprawy relacji z innymi członkami społeczeństwa.
The articles brings up a question about everyday life as a space to adulthood experience. Its purpose is to take note of the significant role that everyday life may play in the informal adult education. As a standpoint in present reflections, the author takes on Maria Szyszkowska’s Philosophy of Everyday Life perspective, the latter being oriented above all to positive identification of the adults activities with their own lifestyle. The article with its theoretical unfolding of author’s perceptions based on many years of research, convinces us to recognize everyday life as a vital value in life and to make everyday life a matter of self-development of an adult as well as betterment of the relation with other members of the society.

The article unwraps notions related to young African women’s lifeworld experiences of physical disability. The study is positioned in the broad context of the theoretical frameworks of phenomenology, existential sociology, the social construction of reality, feminist disability theory, and intersectionality. Focus is given to the way social systems of cultural oppression and discrimination impact women with physical impairments and manifest in how they perceive and make meaning of their everyday life experiences. Women with physical impairments often experience a double measure of oppression-being both female and disabled. When these women try to engage in a normal life and interact with others, they experience barriers imposed on them by their social reality-particularly in the form of cultural norms and patriarchal ideals. There are also instances where participants demonstrate resilience in the face of negative social stereotyping, instances that clearly show that they are not different, and do not perceive themselves as being different to able-bodied women. Drawing on semi-structured in-depth interviews with eight young Black women who are living with physical disabilities in Lesotho, the objective of this article is to examine their everyday life experiences within a predominantly able-bodied society.

The birth of a child is a major event in family life, which makes parents take on an important role in their lives, characterised by new tasks, chief among which are the care and upbringing of their offspring. Unfortunately, in many families, some factors emerge that may affect their functioning, disrupt the course of family life, and leave a permanent mark on the family’s history. Such a situation can be difficult for many –and many parents find the process of accepting a child with a disability (Down syndrome) and themselves as parents of a child with Down syndrome a long and arduous journey, since taking care of a child, upbringing and supporting their development is an issue in itself, but also a challenge for parents. In many cases, both the child and their parents need support in their daily life, ensuring their high quality of life. The objective of this study is to outline the functioning of families of children with Down syndrome. Due to the complex nature of the issue at hand, only selected aspects of the functioning of families were diagnosed, showcasing the changes in the family life and its functioning as a result of the birth of children with Down syndrome. The study was based on qualitative methodologies, by analysing individual cases using interview technique and interview dispositions. The research group comprised 10 families of children with intellectual disabilities, and the interviewed group was made up of 10 mothers and 3 fathers in Zielona Góra.

Opis:

The Lesotho-South Africa border is regarded as highly porous with many Basotho migrants seizing work and educational opportunities in South Africa, while simultaneously maintaining strong ties to family members, businesses, and land in Lesotho. The fact that Sesotho is spoken on both sides of the border is one of the particular factors that has made it possible for people to move back and forth with relative ease. The border nevertheless remains an important political and socio-cultural barrier in the lives of those crossing it. While some have managed to acquire the permits that enable them to cross the border freely and take up formal work, others occupy a precarious legal status, which limits their housing and employment prospects. Moreover, the lives of all African migrants in South Africa have been affected by growing xenophobic violence in recent years. This has reinforced distinctions between insiders and outsiders, and limited the opportunities migrants have to experience belonging to South African society. Despite these emerging dynamics, the ways in which the border is perceived by migrants — as both a physical barrier between countries and as a social barrier distinguishing peoples — has yet to be explored. Drawing on narrative interviews conducted with Basotho migrants living in Bloemfontein, South Africa in a variety of legal and employment circumstances, this paper aims to highlight the meaning of the border in the migrants’ day-to-day lives.

Opis:

A preserved register of items is an interesting and valuable source for research into everyday life of the 18th century nobility. The mentioned toys helped children to imitate everyday life activities as accurately as possible. Despite the fact that the items are a part of the magnate’s inventory, many of them showed signs of wear and tear while some were completely destroyed. The toys were often used but no particular attention was paid to regular repairs thereof. In the preserved source materials, we can easily find items for boys like military-related toys and play-horse heads on sticks. The typically girlish items included mostly dolls, dressed in costumes following the latest fashion. An interesting collection of toys consists of items that imitated various genre scenes, the nature of which may indicate the origin of the items. They created a miniature world, corresponding to the activities observed in everyday life. Unfortunately, the laconic nature of many entries in the register does not allow for more extended research based on the specific features of the items on the list. The problem of the representation of toys in the world of noble things requires an in-depth study of the preserved source materials, in order to recognize the specificity of this type of objects.

The goal of the study is to answer the question about the educational values of cultural promotional events held in shopping malls. To achieve this goal, an ethnographic research was performed during three events in two shopping malls in Wrocław. It consisted of participatory observation and interviews with 6 participants of the events. The research is based on Knud Illeris’s theory of learning through everyday life (non-formal learning). During the study, it was observed that the organizers of the events use the newest methods of learning (including new technologies). The information is transferred in various ways and the extra attractions that are part of the events engage participants in creative activities. The gained knowledge can be theoretical or practical and it can encourage participants to change their life habits or to undertake various activities in their lives. It also makes accessible the previously inaccessible areas of reality. New knowledge usually does not create new structures and basically reconstructs the existing ones (accommodation learning). The learning process in shopping malls during the cultural events is a byproduct or a side effect ofpromotional activities, yet it takes place and it can improve the quality of life of the participants. Thus,a shopping mall, an institution of the consumer society, becomes an institution of the society of knowledge.

National landscape with Lenin in the background. Imagined national communitiesin the former Eastern BlocThe paper is a critical review of two recently published monographs on the subject of the everyday and banal forms of nationalism in the post-socialist countries of Europe and Asia. The authors of the monographs, drawing on the theories of national identity and nationhood by Benedict Anderson, Ernest Gellner, Eric Hobsbawm, Michael Billig, Michael Skey, Tim Edensor and others, showed their deep understanding of the processes of nation-building, while their ethnographic approach allowed them to gather original and non-obvious data on everyday practices and discourses by which citizens of the post-socialist countries reproduce and reconstruct their identities. However, both volumes display some shortcomings resulting from their renditions of the historical background, including the ethnic policies of the socialist states, as well as from constraints of the Western liberal perspective as applied to the social reality of the former Eastern Bloc. Pejzaż narodowy z Leninem w tle. Narodowe wspólnoty wyobrażone w byłym Bloku WschodnimCelem artykułu jest krytyczna recenzja dwóch opublikowanych ostatnio monografii na temat codziennych, banalnych form nacjonalizmu w krajach postsocjalistycznych Europy i Azji. Autorzy obu monografii, bazując na teoriach narodu i tożsamości narodowej Benedicta Andersona, Ernesta Gellnera, Erica Hobsbawma, Michaela Billiga, Michaela Skeya, Tima Edensora i innych badaczy, wykazali się głębokim zrozumieniem procesów konstruowania narodu, natomiast dzięki przeprowadzeniu badań etnograficznych zebrali oryginalny i nieoczywisty materiał dotyczący codziennych praktyk i dyskursów, poprzez które obywatele krajów postsocjalistycznych reprodukują i rekonstruują swoje tożsamości. Jednak oba tomy wykazują pewne mankamenty wynikające z ukazania zjawisk na skromnym tle historycznym, chociażby w kwestii polityk etnicznych państw socjalistycznych, jak również ograniczenia związane z nakładaniem liberalnej perspektywy zachodniej na realia społeczne byłego Bloku Wschodniego.

The article discusses the use of the category of ‘everyday life’ in historical works by Maria Bogucka as well as her theoretical contributions on the subject. Her pioneering role in adapting the mode of popular writing advanced by the French cycle Histoire de la vie quotidienne to Polish historiography in the 1960s established a high-quality standard on Polish scholars by combining original research into economic and social history with references to the history of material culture and mentalities. A quarter of a century after the publication of her exemplary study entitled Życie codzienne w Gdańsku: wiek XVI–XVII [Everyday Life in Gdańsk: Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries, 1967], Bogucka involved herself in contemporary debates within the international community of historians over the German Alltagsgeschichte, perceiving it as a methodological framework for innovative research and an opportunity to expand the theoretical side of cultural history. Though she would not produce another ‘history of everyday life’ – in a refreshed perspective and with more robust theoretical foundations – her studies into old Polish customs betray an inspiration with the German research current of Alltagsgeschichte, which blossomed in the early 1990s.

Pozwala to na dalsze twierdzenie, iż we współczesnym środowisku medialnym paratekstualna stała się cała rzeczywistość wobec tekstów zjawiających się na ekranach laptopów i smartfonów.
The article describes the experience of psychoparatextuality in contemporary everyday life. Using selected examples, the author shows how numerous individualized, often accidental supplements to works and texts that occur in copies become texts in themselves for someone else’s life world. This allows us to make the further claim that in the contemporary media context the paratextual has become an entire reality vis-a-vis texts that appear on laptop and smartphone screens.

Valuation and evaluation are inevitable in life. They concern both making personal choices and assessing facts. In the world where we live, ethics seems to appear only when social issues such as abortion, euthanasia or the death penalty go to the discussion. Ethics, however, is not common in the issues of everyday life, in the choices that accompany us on every level of life. In both private and public life one can notice more and more blind momentum, more and more tasks but also we set the boundary between good and evil with greater difficulty. It seems that the diagnosis regarding the axiological crisis seems more and more accurate today. The common belief that it is allowed to do so because “everyone does it” is nothing more than a mindless imitation of social behavior or just plain ignorance of ethics. According to Seneca the thing which is not prohibited by the law is prohibited by shame, it seems that today the shame, which in this sentence was a synonym of “awareness” or “ethical sensitivity” ceased to exist. The aim of this article is a brief reflection on the ethics of contemporary man, on the way how he makes choices, and actually on the basis of what he should take. The inspiration for writing this text was the author’s personal experience, which indicates the lack of optimism in assessing the moral condition of a modern man.
Wartościowanie i ocenianie jest w życiu nieuniknione. Dotyczy ono zarówno dokonywania osobistych wyborów, jak i oceniania faktów. W świecie, w którym przyszło nam żyć, etyka wydaje się pojawiać dopiero w momentach, gdy do dyskusji trafiają istotne tematy społeczne, takie jak aborcja, eutanazja czy kara śmierci. Etyka nie jest jednak powszechna w zagadnieniach życia codziennego, w wyborach, które towarzyszą nam na każdej płaszczyźnie życia. Zarówno w życiu prywatnym, jak i publicznym coraz więcej ślepego pędu, coraz więcej wyznaczamy sobie zadań, ale też z większym trudem wyznaczamy granicę między dobrem i złem. Wydaje się, że współcześnie coraz bardziej trafna wydaje się diagnoza dotycząca kryzysu aksjologicznego. Powszechne przekonanie, że wolno tak robić, ponieważ „wszyscy to robią”, to nic innego, jak bezmyślne naśladowanie zachowań społecznych bądź po prostu zwykła ignorancja wobec etyki. Zdaniem Seneki – czego nie zabrania prawo, zabrania wstyd. Wydaje się, że dzisiaj wstyd, który w tej sentencji był synonimem „świadomości” czy „wrażliwości” etycznej, przestał istnieć. Celem artykułu jest krótka refleksja nad etyką współczesnego człowieka, nad sposobem, w jaki podejmuje wybory, a właściwie w oparciu o co powinien je podejmować. Inspiracją do napisania tego tekstu były osobiste doświadczenia autorki, które wskazują na brak optymizmu w ocenie kondycji moralnej współczesnego człowieka.

The article presents a description of Elk after World War 2, seen from a perspective of individuals. The pictures of the town are based on the memories of 15 people, who live in Elk nowadays. The selection of respondents was targeted. The group is differentiated in the categories: age and place of origin. Among the interviewees there are people, who were living in Elk and the nearby areas before World War 2, also those who moved there after the war from Vilnius Region, Republic of Lithuania, nearby areas of Grodno (Hrodna) and Nowogrod, Suwalki Region, Region of Kurpie, surrounding areas of Grajewo and Szczuczyn, and finally those who were born after World War 2 in Elk and in other places. The respondents see Elk differently, because they have been living there during various historical periods, however their individual perceptions and memories were taken into consideration. The following questions have been asked: what types of accommodation were Elk citizens living after World War 2, how they perceived their city in different historical periods, what were they doing for living, how looked their cultural life, what were their social relations? Data analysis, based on the interviews, answers above questions and presents subjective picture of everyday live. The article presents many aspects of life common for people from various social backgrounds.

Opis:

Borders’ closure during the COVID-19 pandemic had a particular impact on the everyday life of borderland residents. As part of the research on bordering processes carried out since a few years, during the closure of the state borders in 2020, qualitative interviews on everyday life in the COVID-19 pandemic have been conducted. In this paper, we present the results of the exploratory study on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Polish-German border twin cities. We indicate at what levels borders’ closure affected the border landscape, border practices of the inhabitants of the researched territories, and their notion of the border. We also suggest how border relations were shaped due to differences in the management and perception of the pandemic situation in two countries. The results obtained indicate that the closure of borders has made life more difficult in an area under examination and has also affected the identity and specificity of the place. This issue is worth exploring further to establish the true extent of the impact of the pandemic in the borderlands.

Young workers are the category of people who experience precarity and precariousness the most. This article explores the work experiences of the young precarious workers as an important component of constructing their social identity. It focuses on the problems with sense of professional identity, biographical sense of work experiences and the processes of transition to adulthood in the context of insecure earnings and permanent uncertainty. It also deals with the lack of control over time and future life plans and the alienation of work. As a consequence of precariousness, young people need to cope with traps of uncertainty, poverty and helplessness. The article is based on the analysis of biographical interviews with young people aged 18-30 years old in low-paid temporary jobs, low paid open-ended contracts, traineeships and the unemployed. The whole collection contains 70 interviews. The article focuses on ten cases which represent more general properties of work experiences. The analysis enables us to address emerging questions concerning the relationships between constructing biography and the experience of work and to formulate tentative conclusions from the ongoing research.

Depictions of food consumption in comic books are quite numerous but they rarely stick in the minds of readers, especially when they serve as the background for the unfolding story. If the authors, however, decide to depict food, they do so in large part to achieve a few specific purposes: emphasize the characteristics of the characters, deconstruct the seriousness of the narrative, and introduce humorous elements. All of this takes place on two levels: aesthetic (from realistic to cartoonish) and existential (eating is one of the most ordinary day-to-day activities). The article aims to show the various possibilities of using representations of food consumption and discuss their meaning using selected examples.

The author analyzes the poetics of affective topography in the works by Michał Cichy. Her close reading of the texts demonstrates that the interpretative parts gradually give way to the record of the bodily and sensual. Cichy’s emotive descriptions of his Warsaw neighbourhood, Ochota provide insight into the life of the place and its inhabitants. His poetics frequently reveals such features as micrological descriptions and the use of animal (canine) perspective in experiencing place. This last tenet places Cichy’s works within the framework of (non-anthropocentric) phenomenology of perception and anthropology of everyday life.

This paper reports on the ongoing impact of Covid-19 pandemic in daily life in Argentina, highlighting the initial consequences of the quarantine established on March 20th in an attempt to control the outbreak. We focus on the perception of the role of political authorities, the media and the impact on habits in everyday life, which are being re-shaped in this new context. Online interviews were conducted in different cities of the North, Center and South of Argentina, including the capital, Buenos Aires. This is an exploratory analysis of an ongoing public health event whose consequences are presently far from clear, but its current contours have forced people to modify their daily routines, if not their lives. We highlight extreme reactions, ranging from “indifference” to “panic” or “selfishness” with “solidarity” emerging as the desirable and adequate response to the situation of “mandatory social isolation” or quarantine. Amid the uncertainty regarding the present and the future, novel contours emerge that account for the specificity of a South American country marked by recurrent economic and social crises throughout almost its entire history. Argentina was already struggling with financial difficulties, rising poverty and a fragile labour market characterized by high rates of unemployment and informality. This already delicate scenario was worsened by the sudden irruption of the first cases of Covid-19.

This article addresses the functions analogical reasoning may have in science and everyday life. Georges Perec uprawiał różne formy pisarstwa autobiograficznego. Pamiętam że jest zbiorem 480 zapisów, całość oznacza nieciągłość pamięci i autobiografii. Pisarska koncepcja Pereca znalazła potwierdzenie w jednym z późniejszych tekstów Lejeune'a, który napisał, że nie wierzy już w pojedynczą autobiografię, lecz w teksty autobiograficzne.
Georges Perec's works represent a various forms of autobiographical writings. I remember is a collection of 480 records, whole book proves a discontinuity of memory and autobiography. In one of his latest works Philippe Lejeune writes he just don't believe in single autobiography, but in autobiographical texts.

Pope Francis calls for a global “ecological conversion” by acknowledging that ecological spirituality stems from our faith. The teachings of the Bible influence our thoughts, feelings and actions. Our efforts to protect the environment should be based on more than just formal doctrine. They require a certain degree of mysticism that motivates people to take individual action and participate in community work. “Ecological conversion” is the next step in our relationship with Christ that sheds a new light on the surrounding world.

Perspektywę badawczą dla przeprowadzonych analiz stanowi koncepcja dramaturgiczna Ervinga Goffmana, a poszczególne elementy Goffmanowskiego modelu poznania rzeczywistości społecznej, takie jak występ, rola, fasada czy kulisy, przy analizie służą jako kategorie analityczne, za których pomocą autorka prezentuje świat przeżywany wybranych postaci występujących w trylogii Margaret Atwood.
The author’s purpose in this essay is to present a synthetic model of the everyday life world of some characters of the MaddAddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood, often referred as an icon of Canadian English-language literature. A series of novels, including Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood, and the last part: MaddAddam, are interesting examples of modern dystopias, which often in drastic, exaggerated form try to draw attention to the negative direction of the development of Western civilization. They are a literary but also an intellectual attempt to diagnose the state of today’s world. The starting point of the analysis is the interest in phenomenal world derived from phenomenology, with particular emphasis on everyday life as one of the basic themes of this important current of contemporary sociological thought, which is why the author begins with a short presentation of the theoretical approach to the concept of the world of life. The research perspective for the analyzes carried out is referring to the dramaturgical concept of Erving Goffman, and the individual elements of Goffman’s model of the recognition of social reality, such as performance, role, facade or backstage, which in the analysis they serve as analytical categories, with the help of which the author presents the world experienced by selected characters appearing in the trilogy by Margaret Atwood.

Opis:

This article is an attempt to present the school everyday life of early childhood teachers from their own perspective. Unstructured interviews with narrative elements were carried out. The analysis and interpretation of the obtained data was carried out in accordance with the interpretative paradigm. The surveyed teachers, despite their dissatisfaction with their lack of appreciation (both social and financial) in their stories, emphasize the importance of the benefits of choosing their professional path. Working with children, accompanying them in their development, supporting and teaching them is the most important source of satisfaction with their work. This balancing between poor pay, excessive bureaucracy, ambiguity of social expectations and admiration for children, gaining satisfaction from the possibilities of their own development and unconventionality build the everyday life of early school teachers.
W artykule przedstawiono szkolną codzienność nauczycielek edukacji wczesnoszkolnej z ich własnej perspektywy. W tym celu przeprowadzono swobodne wywiady z elementami narracji, zaś analizy i interpretacje uzyskanych danych dokonano zgodnie z paradygmatem interpretatywnym. Badane nauczycielki pomimo wyrażanego w swoich wypowiedziach niezadowolenia z odczuwanego przez nie braku docenienia (zarówno społecznego, jak i finansowego) podkreślają znaczenie korzyści z dokonanego wyboru swojej drogi zawodowej. Obcowanie z dziećmi, towarzyszenie im w ich rozwoju, wspieranie i uczenie ich stanowi najważniejsze źródło zadowolenia z wykonywanej pracy. To balansowanie pomiędzy słabym wynagrodzeniem, przerostem biurokracji, niejasnością oczekiwań społecznych a zachwytem nad dzieckiem, czerpaniem satysfakcji z możliwości własnego rozwoju oraz nieszablonowości buduje codzienność nauczycielek edukacji wczesnoszkolnej.

The article presents the everyday life of cenobite monk starting from attempting to describe the ancient monastery itself, by showing the buildings in it, such as living quarters called “houses”. In monastery there were also everyday usable rooms like “the place of praying” where monks were praying and weaving baskets or “the chamber of sick”. Pachomius thought also about economic buildings such as workshops, store-rooms and many kinds of storehouses. Next part of the article is concerned about all functions, which monks could take charge of. First of all there was the superior of the monastery who had almost absolute authority, than his “second”, who was his substitute. Also each house separately had his superior and his “second”. In Pachomius’ monastery we can find a minister, who was taking care of things connected with work and a very important gate keeper and also workers like: gardeners, cooks bakers and raftsmen. In the final part article shows how does the prayers, which were very important in the monastery, look like and when they took place. We can get known with the work, almost as important as the prayers, which happened in the monastery and outside at the fields. Monks had also free time consisted of sleeping and the meals. Pachomius was a soldier so he put in his “Rule” much precepts about discipline and obedience to superiors, which checked up very good for his monks and later monastic life.

The article attempts to determine the usefulness of the concept of resourcefulness for research in the field of social history of the People’s Republic of Poland. On the basis of examples concerning problems with provisions, housing, professional work and retirement benefits, an analysis of specific issues was made, where this resourcefulness manifested itself particularly intensively. The research shows that in many cases it was pathological. It meant a strategy of behavior consisting in achieving the assumed goals by individuals or various groups of people using means that are in conflict with the norms, rules, procedures accepted as appropriate in a given political and socio-economic order.

This paper discusses a research project that attempted to examine selected public institutions' response strategies to a pandemic. The most important research question of the project was the relationship between the pandemic and innovativeness of the sector of public institutions (understood as the desire to introduce new ways of operating, new inter-institutional links, new patterns of relations with stakeholders, etc., resulting from the knowledge provided to individual institutions by functioning under the conditions of the pandemic). During qualitative research we found that the researched institutions' predominant reaction to the challenges of the pandemic was not an orientation towards innovation but a striving to maintain a mode of functioning that is as similar as possible to that from before the pandemic. The innovations made (transition to remote working, simplification of some administrative procedures) resulted from external pressure to a greater extent and internal reflexivity to a lesser extent. The narratives captured in the study about the everyday life of public institutions during the pandemic have three common elements. First, they all focus less on large and spectacular innovations and more on micro-innovations (not treated as innovation, but understood as dozens of micro-improvements, minimal adjustments to existing routines). Second, they all miniaturize the experience of the pandemic, regarding it as events so extreme as to be useless for designing a better institutional order. Thirdly, all the reconstructed narratives are situated in an institutional zone of in-between, which means that they perceive themselves as a transparent medium fluctuating between the state and society and as a subject without influence on the shape of its own functioning. On the one hand, this would depend on the level of civic culture and, on the other hand, on the policy created at the highest levels of the state.

The articles brings up a question about everyday life as a potential matter of work for cultural animator. Its purpose is to take note of the significant role that everyday life may play in the work related to animation. As a standpoint in present reflections, the author takes on cultural animation in an anthropological perspective, the latter being oriented above all to positive identification of the participants of animation activities with her own lifestyle. The article with its theoretical unfolding of the author’s perceptions based on many years of cultural animation research, convinces us to recognize everyday life as a vital value in life and to make everyday life a matter of self-development of an adult as well as betterment of the relation with other members of the society.

The article is focused upon some items pertinent to the interpenetration of the everyday/ non-everyday of education. Particular attention is paid to the need of opening of prospective teachers to new experiences, of making an attempt at understanding what their source is, and eventually, what consequences they might cause for the adopted educational activities. This text constitutes an introduction to the question of preparing teachers for making an eff ort aimed at designing everyday educational actions in non-obviousness, or ambiguity. The submitted research project was aimed at finding an answer to the question to what extent the dimension of everyday and non-everyday of education is present in projects pertinent to professional activities and elaborated by teachers. According to the results, the professional beliefs of prospective teachers of a small child concerning the quotidian education do not belong to the description of the generation of the young. While in one’s personal life non -ordinary events seem to be obvious, they are left out in relation to education.
W artykule skoncentrowano się na problematyce przenikania się codzienności/niecodzienności wychowania. Szczególną uwagę skierowano na potrzebę otwarcia się przyszłych nauczycieli na nowe doświadczenia, na próbę zrozumienia, co jest ich źródłem oraz jakie mogą mieć konsekwencje dla podejmowanych działań wychowawczych. W prezentowanych projekcie badawczym poszukiwano odpowiedzi na pytanie o to, w jakim zakresie w projektach profesjonalnych działań konstruowanych przez pedagogów obecny jest wymiar codzienności/niecodzienności wychowania. Wyniki ujawniają, że przekonania zawodowe przyszłych nauczycieli małego dziecka dotyczące codzienności wychowania nie wpisują się w charakterystykę pokolenia młodych. O ile w życiu osobistym zdarzenia niecodzienne są oczywistością, o tyle w odniesieniu do wychowania są wymiarem pomijanym.

Moim zamiarem jest próba opisania wybranych wymiarów życia codziennego rodzin uzdolnionych dzieci i młodzieży w obszarach: akademickim, artystycznym i sportowym. Przedstawione tu analizy bazują na materiale empirycznym pochodzącym z badań poświęconych procesom odkrywania i rozwijania dziecięcych zdolności, które przeprowadziłam w 2018 r. Zdaję sobie sprawę, że prezentowane wyniki nie oddają w pełni opisu – o ile w ogóle jest to możliwe – codzienności badanych rodzin. Niemniej jednak, przeprowadzona analiza tematyczna danych pochodzących z indywidualnych wywiadów pogłębionych pozwoliła na wyodrębnienie powtarzających się elementów, które wpisane są w ową codzienność. Chodzi tu o rytm dnia powszedniego, czas wolny rodzin oraz towarzyszące im na co dzień przedmioty.
This article describes selected aspects of the everyday life of families with children talented academically, artistically, or in sports. The analyses presented in this paper are based on empirical research devoted to the processes of discovering and developing children’s gifts. This research was carried out in 2018. The author realises that the results do not entirely reflect all aspects of the everyday life of these families, since such a exhaustive description might not be possible at all. Nevertheless, the thematic analysis of data originating from individual in-depth interviews enabled the author to distinguish recurring elements of everyday reality, such as the rhythm of an ordinary day, the families’ free time, and the objects present in their daily routines.

The article was devoted to the system of supporting families of soldiers fighting on the front, which was set up in Szczecin – the main city of the Prussian Province of Pomerania. The system was based on the legislation introduced in the Reich at the end of the 19th century. The research aim is to look for the specific nature of the actions undertaken by the authorities of the city as against other cities which also launched such similarities. The first part of the article is devoted to the principles according to which the system of supporting families of soldiers was founded with particular emphasis on its significance for inhabitants of German towns. The second part of the article deals with the practical side of the system, in particular with the forms and organization of the assistance offered by the authorities of Szczecin. According to the regulations included in the legislation, the state guaranteed allowances to the wife, children and other family members maintained by a conscripted soldier, but certain conditions had to be fulfilled. Allowances were financed by the budgets of the communes and counties with a reservation that the sums assigned for this purpose would be returned to them from the central budget. In the first days of August the authorities of Szczecin started to pay out the allowances guaranteed by the regulation. They also decided to pay to families of soldiers optional city allowances, which, despite the fact of being provided for in the regulation, were not reimbursed by the state. Those allowances were complemented with additional forms of assistance financed by the special civil budget and the city military social care established at the end of August 1914. In terms of organization, the association referred to as the National Service of Women, set up in Szczecin upon the Berlin pattern in the first days of the war, played a major role. In practice, the legislators’ intention to introduce allowances financed by the state was not carried out. The financial aid was financed mainly from the communes’ budgets and they would not have supported soldiers’ families properly without the allowances financed by the city. Additionally, new regulations enforced from the beginning of 1916 converted the allowances into a form of social aid for families of soldiers from the lowest social strata.

The Influence of the Reconquista on Muslim Law in Al-AndalusLife in the reality of the borderlands between the Muslim and Christian  worlds had significant influence on both sides. It also had an impact on Muslim law (sharia) which is observable in a very precious source – fatwas (Muslim legal rulings). Among those collected form the area of Al-Andalus (Muslim Spain and Portugal) and North Africa this paper discusses issues connected with the long-standing conflict between Christians and Muslims, known as the Reconquista. The problems include ransoming captives, defending Muslim towns or trade relations with Christians. This analysis reflects upon the impact of the Reconquista on everyday life, as it was seen in sharia. Wpływ rekonkwisty na prawo islamskie w Al-Andalus w świetle wybranych fatwŻycie na styku świata muzułmańskiego i chrześcijańskiego wpływało na obie strony. Odcisnęło także swe piętno na prawie muzułmańskim (szariacie), co można zaobserwować w bardzo cennym źródle – fatwach (muzułmańskich orzeczeniach prawnych). Niniejsza praca omawia problemy związane z rekonkwistą w oparciu o fatwy zebrane z obszaru Al-Andalus (muzułmańskiej Hiszpanii i Portugalii) oraz Afryki Północnej w kompilacji Al-Wanšarīsīego. Rozważane zagadnienia obejmują wykup jeńców, obronę muzułmańskich miast oraz relacje handlowe z chrześcijanami. Tym samym wyłania się obraz wpływu rekonkwisty na życie codzienne muzułmanów, tak jak został on zachowany w fatwach omawianego okresu.

Opis:

Strategia zajmowania się przez Piotra Zarembę Szczecinem i przybywającymi do niego po wojnie nowymi mieszkańcami polegała na wiwisekcji poszczególnych warstw miasta, od centralnych zakątków po jego peryferia, oraz przystosowywaniu poszczególnych stref do zasiedlania. Kształtowanie miasta opierało się na powtarzaniu codziennych czynności w konkretnej przestrzeni. Dzięki zapiskom wspomnieniowym możemy zrekonstruować, jaką rolę w pracy pierwszego prezydenta Szczecina odgrywały „praktyki przestrzenne”.
Strategy of Piotr Zaremba to deal with the city and new residents who were arriving after the war to Szczecin consisted mainly of vivisection individual layers of the city, from central parts to its periphery, and adaptation of individual zones to colonize. Shaping the city was based on repetition of daily activities which took place in a particular space. Thanks to his notes, we can reconstruct role of "spatial practices" in his work.

In the proposed reading of Manu Larcenet’s Le Combat Ordinaire, everyday life appears not only as the setting of the story but also its fundamental—though by no means obvious, despite the abundance of everyday life imagery and motifs—theme. In Larcenet’s unspectacular narration, conducted in a tone oscillating between buffo and serious, human day-to-day affairs, obscured by the facade of ritual, appear as an effort, a task to complete, a risk to be taken, a problem of existence in the “cracks” of which the most important experiences occur, defined by the dialectics of life and death, health and illness, nature and culture, order and disorder. The article presents an analysis of the key dimensions of this “everyday struggle:” from the textual game whose stake is the axiology of everyday life (the issue of intimate diary, the value of journalism as a profession), to the sense of locality and the construction of identity based on memory and postmemory, to use Marianne Hirsch’s concept (references to the war in Algeria). The interpretation of Larcenet’s graphic novel was carried out based on three premises: (1) the everyday settles into fiction thanks to mimesis; (2) contact with everyday life may lead to an epiphanic revelation of a spiritual truth (drawing on Jolanta Brach-Czaina’s concept described in her philosophical essay Szczeliny istnienia [Cracks in Existence], this phenomenon can be called the “unsealing” of everyday life); (3) literary depictions of human daily existence are where literature and sociology intersect, as a result of which literary works (or, comics in this case) help reveal the structures of everyday life.

The aim of the exercise proposed in this article is to closely read five comic books about Lublin, looking for translinear connections between them. Thus discovered, the links should bring about a peculiar reading experience and reveal a multifaceted perception of Lublin. This “Drawn City” is a mix of folk tales, urban legends, historical facts, and everyday human existence. The proposed translinear reading brings all of these together, offering an insight into the true nature of the city and its residents.

Opis:

The main goal of the study is an attempt to show that rites, regardless of what areas of social life they concern, always occur in an interactive and axionormative context. They are universal in nature, but their content and manner of manifestation in individual and group behavior are changing. Attempts were made to demonstrate this from the perspective of Jan Szczepański’s childhood and his youth experiences, related not only to work but also to selected aspects of everyday life. A broad, processual understanding of the rite (ritualisation process) was adopted as a set of individual and group behaviors based on common beliefs and values, both practical and expressive. Efforts were made to demonstrate the basic types and functions of rites, especially contained in the practices of organizational culture, so distant from the practices related to the work performed by Szczepański on the farm of his parents. The analysis made it possible to show how much the work and everyday life of the adolescent Szczepański was framed by sacred rites creating a coherent, predictable and transcendent image of the world and people.

Artykuł zawiera genezę elektronicznych pamiętników - blogów, które stały się nowoczesną i popularną formą utrwalania obrazu życia codziennego polskich emigrantów. Głównym celem artykułu, obok problemów definicyjnych, było  ukazanie blogów emigracyjnych jako specyficznej formy dokumentów osobistych, które poza funkcją informacyjną, stanowią narzędzie służące do wypowiadania się, kreowania własnego wizerunku, komunikacji z innymi emigrantami. Uwaga badawcza skupiona została także na strukturze blogów, ich podziałach i klasyfikacjach, charakterystycznych cechach, determinowanych głównie przez zawartość merytoryczną, upowszechnianą w sieci. Na przedstawionych przykładach potwierdzono, że blogi jako zapiski osobiste, stanowią ważny element życia codziennego emigracyjnych pamiętnikarzy, jak i szerokiego grona czytelników. Spełniają one także funkcję integracyjną i terapeutyczną, odgrywają ważną rolę w podtrzymywaniu tożsamości narodowej. Wraz z rozwojem technologii, zmieniły one dotychczasową formę, stając się w większości wideoblogami, ale nie zatraciły swojego pierwotnego pamiętnikarskiego oblicza. 
The article describes the genesis of electronic diaries - blogs that have become a modern and popular form of recording the image of everyday life of Polish immigrants. The main scientific purpose of the article was to show emigration blogs as a specific form of personal documents, which, apart from the information function, are a tool for expressing oneself, creating one's own image, and communicating with other emigrants. The research attention was also focused on the structure of blogs, their divisions and classifications, characteristic features, determined mainly by the substantive contents spread throughout  the web. The presented examples confirm that blogs, as personal notes, are a very  important element of everyday life of emigration diarists, and a wide range of readers. They also fulfill integrating and therapeutic functions and play an important role in maintaining national identity. With the development of technology, they changed their current form, and became mostly video blogs, but they did not lose their original diary face.

Opis:

Polska międzywojenna była dla gospodarki łotewskiej głównym eksporterem robotników sezonowych. W latach 1928-1939 w rolnictwie łotewskim znalazło zatrudnienie ponad 100 tys. Polaków. Większość robotników rekrutowała się spośród małorolnych i bezrolnych chłopów, którzy przyjechali do Łotwy „za chlebem”. Polscy emigranci rolni byli dla Łotyszów swoistą wizytówką Polski. Ich codzienne zachowania kształtowały wyobrażenia Łotyszów na temat Polski i Polaków. Emigranci byli oceniani przez pryzmat tego, jak wykonywali swoje obowiązki i spędzali czas wolny. Pod względem moralno-etycznym robotnicy polscy byli zróżnicowani. Zdarzali się ci, którzy nie potrafili zaakceptować lokalnych zwyczajów życia i pracy, na skutek czego musieli szybko wrócić do kraju. Niemniej większość sumiennie wykonywała swe obowiązki i godnie prezentowała swój kraj, dzięki czemu zaskarbiła przychylność pracodawców łotewskich.
Interwar Poland was the main exporter of seasonal workers for the Latvian economy. In the years 1928-1939 over 100,000 Poles found employment in Latvian agriculture. Most of the workers were recruited from small farmers and landless peasants who came to Latvia to buy bread. Polish agricultural emigrants were a specific showcase of Poland for Latvians. Their everyday behavior shaped Latvians’ perceptions of Poland and Poles. The emigrants were judged on how they performed their duties and spent their free time. In terms of morality and ethics, Polish workers were diverse. There were those who could not accept the local customs of living and working, and as a result had to return quickly to the country. Nevertheless, most of them diligently performed their duties and presented their country with dignity, thanks to which they won the favor of Latvian employers.
