Opis:: In the information and knowledge society that we are building, we deal with a tremendous increase in the quantity and diversity of information. That condition also results from new information technologies which supply new, almost unlimited possibilities of creation, processing, storage, retrieval, and perception of information. The social flood of information constitutes a substrate of the information market where information becomes a commodity. That situation in the information society is a source of many problems related to the necessity of proper selection of information, information management and ethical responsibility on the part of information-process participants. This paper is a continuation of our considerations of the present-day issues of the development of an information society, stressing the necessity of dealing with information ethics which concerns all human activities related to information, including cooperation in the transfer of technologies and innovations. We present here the object of that discipline, its tasks and the need to shape the ethical culture of all persons dealing with information.
W społeczeństwie informacji i wiedzy, które budujemy, mamy do czynienia z ogromnym wzrostem ilości i różnorodności informacji. Ten stan jest m.in. rezultatem nowych technologii informacyjnych, które dostarczają nowych, wręcz nieograniczonych, możliwości generowania, przetwarzania, przechowywania, udostępniania i percepcji informacji. "Społeczny" zalew informacją stanowi podłoże rynku informacyjnego, na którym informacja staje się towarem. Zasygnalizowana sytuacja jest w społeczeństwie informacyjnym źródłem wielu problemów związanych z koniecznością selekcji informacji, zarządzaniem informacją oraz odpowiedzialnością etyczną uczestników procesu informacyjnego. Artykuł stanowi kontynuację rozważań nad współczesnymi problemami rozwoju społeczeństwa informacyjnego, akcentując konieczność zajęcia się etyką informacyjną, która dotyczy wszelkich działań człowieka związanych z informacją, w tym także współpracy w zakresie transferu technologii i innowacji. Przedstawiono istotę i zadania etyki informacji oraz potrzebę kształtowania kultury etycznej osób związanych z informacją.

Opis:: This study examines the ethical culture and ethical evaluations on the whistleblowing intentions of government officials. Whistleblowing is the most effective internal controls to expedite integrity and thus would protect the urban from harm and destruction. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 282 officials from one of the Malaysian city councils and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) of partial least square approach (PLS) version 3. The findings indicated that all the three variables namely organizational ethical culture, deontological and teleological evaluations were significant factors of whistleblowing intentions. The discoveries provide beneficial insights to the government, policy and lawmakers, city councils, and academicians that the likelihood of whistleblowing intentions depends on ethical evaluations of rules compliance (deontology), perceived consequences (teleology), and strong ethical culture. Nurturing whistleblowing culture does not only elevate the public trust towards the city council but also foster effective internal controls and good governance.
Niniejsze badanie analizuje kulturę etyczną i oceny etyczne dotyczące intencji zgłaszania nieprawidłowości przez urzędników państwowych. Informowanie o nieprawidłowościach (Whistleblowing) to najskuteczniejsza kontrola wewnętrzna, która przyspiesza integralność, a tym samym chroni miasto przed niesprawiedliwością i destrukcją. Dane zostały zebrane za pomocą kwestionariuszy rozesłanych do 282 urzędników z jednej z malezyjskich rad miejskich i przeanalizowane za pomocą Modelowania Równań Strukturalnych (SEM) z metodą najmniejszych kwadratów (PLS) w wersji 3. Wyniki wskazują, że wszystkie trzy zmienne, a mianowicie kultura etyczna organizacji, deontologiczna oraz oceny teleologiczne były istotnymi czynnikami intencji sygnalizowania nieprawidłowości. Odkrycia dostarczają cennych informacji rządowi, politykom i prawodawcom, radom miejskim i naukowcom, że prawdopodobieństwo intencji informowania o nieprawidłowościach zależy od etycznej oceny przestrzegania zasad (deontologia), postrzeganych konsekwencji (teleologia) i silnej kultury etycznej. Pielęgnowanie kultury informowania o nieprawidłowościach nie tylko zwiększa zaufanie publiczne do rady miasta, ale także sprzyja skutecznej kontroli wewnętrznej i dobremu zarządzaniu.

Opis:: Osiągnięcie sukcesu w działalności gospodarczej i zdobycie długotrwałej przewagi konkurencyjnej wymaga uczciwego, odpowiedzialnego i przyzwoitego postępowania osób w nią zaangażowanych. Dlatego zarządzający powinni zadbać o kształtowanie etycznej kultury organizacyjnej, czyli takiej, w której są wpisane jasne zasady, wynikające z etycznych wartości i norm istotnych dla przedsiębiorstwa. Powinni także umiejętnie ją propagować wśród pracowników. Nie jest to łatwe i wymaga wsparcia odpowiednimi narzędziami. Jednym z nich może stać się kodeks etyczny firmy. W artykule ukazano, jak można uczynić z niego formalny instrument upowszechniania i promowania etycznej kultury organizacyjnej. Przedstawiono w nim również, jakie wartości są charakterystyczne dla tego typu kultury i jakie zachowania są wraz z nimi wyzwalane u członków organizacji.
Achieving success in business and gaining a long term competitive advantage require a fair, responsible and decent behavior of persons who are involved in it. Therefore, managers should take care of forming such ethical organizational culture, in which they are written clear principles, resulting from the ethical values and norms relevant to business. They should also promote it among employees. It is not easy and requires the support of appropriate tools. One of them may become a code of ethics of the company. The article shows how to make it a formal tool of popularization and promotion of an ethical organizational culture. It also presents the values which are typical for this type of culture and which behaviors are triggered together with them in the organization.

Opis:: The aim of this article is to emphasize the importance of managing ethics in organizations of various kind with emphasis on creating ethical organizational culture. We consider diagnosing of current and desired organizational culture, identification and clarification of organizational values, as well as training and development of employees in moral organizational values and other ethical issues, which should lead toward moral development of organizations and its members. Our aim is to reason necessity of diagnosing organization culture, identify and clarify organizational moral values, create ethical strategy based on recommendations from diagnostics and reason demand for new profession and position in Slovak organizations – an Ethics Officer.
Celem artykułu jest podkreślenie znaczenia zarządzania etyką w organizacjach różnego rodzaju, z naciskiem na tworzenie etycznej kultury organizacyjnej. Rozważamy diagnozowanie bieżącej i pożądanej kultury organizacyjnej, identyfikację i doprecyzowanie wartości organizacyjnych, a także szkolenie i rozwój pracowników pod kątem moralnych wartości organizacyjnych i innych kwestii etycznych, co powinno prowadzić do moralnego rozwoju organizacji i jej członków. Naszym celem jest określenie konieczności diagnozowania kultury organizacyjnej, identyfikowanie i wyjaśnianie wartości moralnych organizacji, opracowanie strategii etycznej opartej na zaleceniach diagnostyki i popytu na nowy zawód oraz pozycję w słowackich organizacjach urzędnika ds. etyki.

Opis:: The article is concerned with the concept of sustainable development treated as an essential mechanism of security culture. The author emphasises how important it is for the implementation of the concept to be inspired from the bottom up in the social aspect of local communities. Today, the sense of community seems to stand in opposition to the institutionalised civil society. A developmental project, in order to result in some degree of balance, should take into consideration such components of security culture as support for the poor, security of existence for future generations or a transparent delineation of the human-nature relation. The author believes that this requires a continuous promotion of lifestyles and policies leading to societies attaining self-sufficiency, a combination of theory with practice and the introduction of good, proven theory. The article features pragmatism which is meant to be consistent with the local social activism. It presents the concept of sustainable development, at the same time indicating that its requirements should be treated as practical instructions which come in useful in the transformation of ethical rules into instructions which may prove helpful in particular activities conducted on the local scale and which are aimed at solving social issues due to the efforts to increase security culture.

Opis:: The article presents a philosophical analysis of the ethical identity of man as an exercise for today’s education. It consists of four parts. The first part focuses on the definition of ethical identity and its comparison with cultural identities. The other parts deal with the problem of cultural identities as a bearer of values, relevant to the consumer culture, such as change, visibility and predictability. Discussing these three values in the context of human moral actions allows a formulation of a conclusion about the need to focus education on ethical identity and to support these activities with humanistic education (in the field of philosophy, in particular). Furthermore, the article justifies that the very term “ethical identity”, if interpreted on the basis of classical metaphysics, can be an effective tool for pedagogical discourse. Therefore, attention is paid to the following key philosophical concepts: substantial unity of human being, man as the subject of human acts and freedom as a moral force.

Opis:: A strong ethical culture is the key to any organization’s long-term success. The purpose of this research was to investigate the link between an organization’s ethical culture and its effect on workers’ well-being, as well as to test the construct validity of the Corporate Virtue Scale (CEV). In South Africa’s Buffalo Municipality, 277 managers from different government agencies made up the sample. The eight-factor CEV scale was validated through a confirmatory factor analysis. Employees’ stress and emotional exhaustion were linked to their views on the prevalence of an ethical culture in public agencies. The results of this study show that an organization’s ethical culture significantly affects its employees’ quality of life on the job. The CEV scale was found to have construct validity, proving its reliability and validity in practice. The government is urged to prioritize the streamlining of regulations and processes that foster an ethical culture in public institutions.

Opis:: The article addresses the issue of ethics in business. The positive attitude to ethics declared by some liberal economists confronts business units with new dilemmas. The economic conflicts, wars, and pandemic crisis treated as a challenge for economic recovery highlight the ethical side of choices. In this way, individualistic rationality is confronted with multilateral benefits. The relation between ethical norms and economic criteria considers the point of view respecting human participation in the process of managing a business. As a consequence, ignorance of ethics in business as a concept of applied ethics, which means ethical relativism, leads man to a crisis of values depriving the system of the liberal economy of a sense of orientation and thus hindering the search for rational solutions.Ethics introduces a personalistic dimension to economic considerations associated with an individual responsibility coming from respect for human values and dignity. In the social aspect, compliance with ethics is acondition of mutual acceptance, cooperation, and bonding within the community. Ultimately, the place of ethics in economics is a consequence of the relationship of economics with humans and, at the same time, the attitude of individuals to ethics. Paying more attention to ethical issues serves the humanisation of economic relations, displaces business egotism, and awakens the tendency to cooperate by seeking the common good.

Opis:: Authors have presented and discussed the content of the Budo Charter, positioning it in social phenomenon forming a system of security culture. This is modernized ethics canon and a kind of credo showing today’s social mission, which is implemented by the transmission of Japanese martial arts of budo. Triangulated problem analysis was carried out from three perspectives – humanist theory of martial arts, security sciences and anthropology of martial arts. It was concluded that the content contained in the Budo Charter are elements of security culture, which show continuous up-to-date ideals carried since ancient times by the honorable Samurai code bushido and its manual application, which is a collection of martial arts of budo from the Japanese Islands.

Opis:: This paper focuses on the issue of whether the boundaries of the private lives of judges are shaped according to cultural conditions and gender. My main assumption is that gender inequality in a culture is reflected in how the boundaries of the private life of judges are interpreted. In this regard, women judges may face more restrictions than their male colleagues in what they wear, what they do and what they say in their lives generally. And ultimately, an interpretation of private life that reinforces gender roles also limits the freedom of expression. I concretise my discussion regarding gender stereotypes that influence what judges do or say in their private lives in different cultures.

Opis:: Identification of a place of managerial ethics in the system which regulates business activities on the market today is an important task. Culture has always been a part of the economic activities. Social conditions remain unchanged, regardless of the business opportunities. To understand the influence of a socio-cultural complexity on success of the company cooperation between an employer and employees, the staff in general, is needed. Determination of a value system becomes a priority while communication, as well as during negotiations. It allows to assess business ethics on the basis of different cultures. Moreover, it will help to solve problems at the international level. In the twenty-first century, ethical management is the requirement for managers to achieve excellence and organizational effectiveness.
Istotnym zagadnieniem etyki menedżerskiej jest określenie jej miejsca w systemie regulującym działalność biznesu na współczesnym rynku. W działalności gospodarczej kultura towarzyszyła człowiekowi od zawsze. Uwarunkowania społeczne niezależnie od możliwości prowadzenia działalności gospodarczej pozostają niezmienne. Warunkiem koniecznym do zrozumienia złożoności społeczno-kulturowej dla osiągnięcia sukcesu firmy jest konieczność współpracy pomiędzy pracodawcą i pracownikami, a także zespołami ludzkimi. Określenie systemu wartości staje się priorytetem podczas komunikowania się, a także w trakcie negocjacji. Pozwala na ocenę etyki biznesu na podstawie różnych kultur, a ponadto przyczyni się do rozwiązywania problemów w skali międzynarodowej. W XXI w. zarządzanie etyczne jest wymogiem stawianym menedżerom dla osiągnięcia doskonałości i efektywności organizacji.

Opis:: Artykuł stanowi próbę odczytania różnego typu reportaży, które traktują o relacjach ludzko-zwierzęcych (Wilki Adama Wajraka oraz I ktoś rzucił za nim zdechłego psa Jeana Rolina). Każdy z tych tekstów dotyczy innej kategorii, w jakiej klasyfikujemy zwierzęta (dzikie, towarzyszące), lecz autorzy poddają te kategorie dekonstrukcji. Dzięki temu interpretacja wspomnianych reportaży stała się też przyczynkiem do rozważenia takich kwestii, jak „dzikość”, empatia w relacjach ludzko-zwierzęcych, kulturowe uwarunkowania traktowania określonych gatunków zwierząt, szowinizm gatunkowy itd. Rozważania te zostały ujęte, co oczywiste, w duchu refleksji posthumanistycznej, ale przede wszystkim – zwrotu etycznego. Wstępem do całości stały się z kolei refleksje nad odmianą gatunkową, jaką jest reportaż przyrodniczy, i jej ewolucją w kontekście zmian, które dokonały się w myśli humanistycznej (np. zanegowanie podziału na naturę i kulturę).
The article is an attempt to read various types of journalism that deal with human-animal relations (“Wolves” by Adam Wajrak and “Un chien mort après lui” by Jean Rolin). Each of these texts covers a different category in which we classify animals (wild, companion), but the authors deconstruct these categories. Thanks to this, the interpretation of the aforementioned books has also contributed to the development of such issues as “wildness,” empathy in human-animal relations, cultural conditions of treating certain animal species, species chauvinism, etc. These considerations were obviously included in the spirit of posthumanism, but most of all the ethical turn. The introduction includes, in turn, reflections on the particular genre, which is nature writing, and its evolution in the context of changes that took place in humanistic thought (e.g. negating the division into nature and culture).

Opis:: Niepełnosprawność jest przedmiotem licznych studiów teoretycznych i badań interdyscyplinarnych, zaś bohaterowie z niepełnosprawnością są obecni na kartach literatury od dawna. W rozważaniach teoretycznych na temat niepełnosprawności przywołano koncepcję kultur niepełnosprawności, interdyscyplinarne studia nad niepełnosprawnością, tzw. disability studies, oraz podejście badawcze określane jako crip theory. W artykule podjęto próbę omówienia wybranych kreacji niepełnosprawnych bohaterów współczesnych tekstów literackich z końca XX i początku XXI wieku, które można wykorzystać w praktyce edukacyjnej.
Disability has been the object of numerous theoretical as well as interdisciplinary studies, and protagonists with disabilities have been present in the literature for a long time. In the theoretical considerations the concept of disability culture, interdisciplinary disability studies and the crip theory have all been evoked. The article attempts to discuss selected creations of disabled protagonists of contemporary literary texts from the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, which can be used in educational practice.
