High proficiency level in spelling is considered to be an important literally skill writers need to be able to establish shared meaning with their readers. However, the Applied Linguistic literature reveals that spelling errors dominantly plaque the essays of students who speak English as Second Language (ESL). In lieu with this, this study sheds light on students’ knowledge in spelling in a Technical University in Ghana. The participants for the study involve 275 students who were randomly selected from three academic levels. The random sampling procedure was further used by the researchers to select 30 English words out of 50 words that have been compiled by the Communicative Skills Unit as the most consistent misspelled words in the written English essays of students of the Technical University over a period of four years. The respondents were further tested on how well they could spell those words. The findings confirm three main types of spelling errors: “insertion errors”, “substitution errors” and “transposition errors”. The findings further reveal that the students’ inability to correctly spell most of the words that were dictated to them is a result of their unfamiliarity with the words, their inability to account for the right pronunciation associated with those words that were dictated to them as well as the failure of students to edit their work after the spelling exercise. It is also confirmed that the academic levels of the students do not have a significant influence on their performance in the spelling.

The aim of the article is to provide a qualitative description of the errors committed by pupils with mild intellectual disabilities. The discussed issue has not yet been the subject of a scientific description from a linguistic point of view. The analysis of errors was based on Andrzej Markowski's classification with small additions from Zygmunt Saloni’s classification. Due to the volumetric framework, the article is limited to discussing grammatical and lexical errors. The research showed that pupils with mild intellectual disabilities make similar errors as those with typical development. No qualitative differences were noted between the study group and the control group, only quantitative ones.

Poddano analizie model błędów geometrycznych w celu określenia praktycznej przydatności tego modelu do kompensacji błędów geometrycznych trójosiowych obrabiarek skrawających. Zakładając a priori prostopadłości wzajemne osi oraz wartości odchyłek translacyjnych i rotacyjnych dla każdej osi wyznaczono składowe wektora korekcji błędów geometrycznych w całej przestrzeni roboczej obrabiarki. Ponadto dla każdej składowej wektora korekcji wyznaczono wartości rozszerzonej niepewności standardowej. Wyznaczenie niepewności standardowej przeprowadzono z uwzględnieniem losowego charakteru mierzonych odchyłek oraz w oparciu o znajomość charakterystyk metrologicznych przyrządów pomiarowych. Efektem pracy są wizualizacje w przestrzeni roboczej obrabiarki wektora korekcji błędów geometrycznych oraz elipsoidy rozszerzonej niepewności standardowej tych błędów - rys. 2.
The paper describes relations between the relative location of 3-axial milling machine frame elements using rigid body kinematics. The computation results are components of the relative location of a tool and its part for each axis. Also the model of geometrical errors is analysed form point of view of its usefulness for error compensation in a 3-axial machine tool. Assuming a priori orthogonality of the axes, translational and rotational deviations for each axis component of the volumetric errors have been determined. The expanded uncertainty for each component of the volumetric error vector has been determined as well. The standard uncertainty accounts for random nature of the measured deviations and metrological characteristics of the measuring devices. The results, correction vectors, are visualized in the machine tool working space in form of ellipsoid of the expanded uncertainty of these errors - Fig. 2.

One of the main fields of studies within the framework of second language teaching methodology is an analysis of linguistic errors which constitute characteristic phenomenon of different stages throughout the teaching process. Although an error is a systematic deviation from the linguistic norm, it also seems to be an essential step in the second language acquisition. The main aim of this article is to present and analyse the most frequent errors occurring in essays written by Polish students. The analysis concentrates on morphosyntacic errors, since morphosyntax can be considered an area in which the greatest difficulties are to be noticed. The author describes and analyses errors in two problematic areas, namely in the use of articles and past tenses.

Collocations are one of the most important elements in language proficiency but the effect of error correction feedback of collocations has not been thoroughly examined. Some researchers report the usefulness and importance of error correction (Hyland, 1990; Bartram & Walton, 1991; Ferris, 1999; Chandler, 2003), while others showed that error correction was of little or no use (Leki, 1990; Truscott, 1996). However, teachers use error correction feedback of collocations most of the time in teaching even though it has not been proven whether there was effect on the improvement of collocation competence of EFL students or not. The researcher tried to investigate the effect of error correction feedback on various categories of lexical collocations (V+N, Adj.+N, N+N), and grammatical collocations (Adj.+Prep.,V+Prep., N) in this study based on Benson, Benson and Ilson's (1986) collocations model. The results revealed that error correction feedback was significant and had a positive effect on the collocation competence at advanced and intermediate levels, but not at the elementary level.

The article presents the results of simulation studies aimed at verifying the usefulness of the concept of calculating kinematic straightness errors from angular errors. Based on the calculations of a flexible machine tool, no relationship was found between the two types of errors. This clearly shows that straightness errors and angular errors of machine tools should be treated as independent of each other.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań symulacyjnych, celem zweryfikowania przydatności opracowanej koncepcji przeliczania charakterystyk błędów kinematycznych prostoliniowości na podstawie charakterystyki błędów kątowych. Analiza wyników obliczeń odkształcalnego stołu obrabiarki nie potwierdziła ścisłej zależności pomiędzy tymi błędami. Jest to podstawą do stwierdzenia konieczności traktowania błędów prostoliniowości i błędów kątowych obrabiarek jako niezależnych.

Satellite compass is the specific, multiantenna receiver of the satellite navigation system which, apart from the standard functions, like position, time, Course and Velocity etc. enable to measure the angles of the orientation of the ship's hull. The most popular solution is two-antenna solution, which gives opportunity to measure two angles: heading and pitch or roll. However, three antenna solutions are accessible as well (www.furuno.co.jp). In this option the device can measure full information about space orientation of the object. Discussed devices has common name 'compass' although they are still not officially confirmed in this role and according IMO's resolutions they can be used only as auxiliary source of information and is classified as Heading Transmitting Devices (MSC.116). The origin of satellite compasses we can find in interferometry used in astronomy since sixties, however the present solutions in fact are adopted from Real Time Kinematic variant of GPS technology (Felski 1999). Nonetheless products accessible on the shelf are very diverse in construction, electronics and software so in practice of their exploitation very different proprieties could be observed. In the report the practical experiences with the use of two different types of satellite compasses are presented, as well as the analysis of observed errors. It turned out that the behavior of satellite compass is not comparable to any gyro or magnetic compasses which are in fact something natural. In fact signal from satellite compass has three kinds of errors: first one is small noise with amplitude of same arc-minutes which is natural in any electronic devices, the second one is long-term changes which are seems be dependent on satellite constellation configuration and finally short, big changes correlated with transition period when new configuration of satellites is catches-on. According to the observations very important are solutions assumed in electronics and software, because observations confirm that two different constructions characterize themselves with very different proprieties.

In case of coordinate machines that use CAA correction matrix, the issue of kine¬matic errors analysis may be based on the determination of residual error distribu¬tion. Temperature changes have an impact on CMM kinematic structure, which may cause the differences in the map of residual errors. As for today, the residual errors were analysed only for the reference temperature. No research was undertaken on the residual errors changes depending on the temperature variations. This paper presents the experiment aimed at residual errors analysis and resulting errors distributions for different temperatures.
