Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to present the concepts of deploying engineer troops in military operations in the late 1970s and early 1980s, on the basis of the publications contained in the classified Mysl Wojskowa journal. The publications concerned the main tasks of engineer troops in basic tactical operations, including in particular those consisting in crossing water obstacles or establishing barrier minefields in that period. The article analyses also the needs of engineer troops in the discussed period and describes the basic principles of using this type of arms for performing engineering tasks. Furthermore, the attention is drawn to the wide use of engineer troops in that period, which were responsible, to a considerable extent, for providing support for the fighting elements, including in particular armoured and mechanised units.
Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie koncepcji użycia wojsk inżynieryjnych w działaniach bojowych na przełomie lat 70. i 80. XX w. na podstawie publikacji zawartych w czasopiśmie Myśl Wojskowa o klauzuli „tajne”. W publikacji zostały zawarte główne zadania wojsk inżynieryjnych w podstawowych działaniach taktycznych, w tym szczególnie w ramach pokonywania przeszkód wodnych, czy zakładania zapór minowych w tamtym okresie. Przeanalizowano również potrzeby wojsk inżynieryjnych tamtego okresu oraz pokazano podstawowe zasady użycia tego rodzaju wojsk w aspekcie wykonywania zadań inżynieryjnych. Ponadto zwrócono uwagę na szerokie wykorzystanie wojsk inżynieryjnych w tamtym okresie, które były w dużej mierze odpowiedzialne za wspieranie pododdziałów walczących, w tym szczególnie pododdziałów pancernych i zmechanizowanych.

Though the issue of knowledge management is a hot subject of interest in nowadays market companies, integrated solutions fit to the specific needs of research institutes still require more attention. This paper documents a part of the research activities performed at National Institute of Telecommunications, related to development of research institute knowledge management support system. The ideas lying in the background of the system come from the recent theories of knowledge creation and creativity support and from experience with everyday practice of knowledge management in market companies. Main focus is put here on the issue of creation of a research topics ontology that is meant to be a semantic backbone of the system. Three-stage approach is proposed, aiming at the construction of ontologies for different levels of organizational hierarchy, from individual researcher, through group or unit, up to the whole institute. Created ontologies are linked to knowledge resources and support diverse activities performed at those levels.

To the modern philosophy of logistic processes improvement belongs concept of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) that was mostly developed in aircraft industry and other branches of production, and also at exploitation of Complicated Technical Systems (CTS). ILS originates from Computer Aided Acquisition and Logistic Support (CALS) initiative and it has importance of continual acquisition and products life cycle (LC) support in the present time. The main tool of ILS is Logistic Support Analysis (LSA). LSA utilizes synergetic effect of technical disciplines that use uniform special data base (DB LSA), with aim to shorten duration of technological processes, starting from research, continuing to project proposal, production, up to maintenance and complex Life Cycle Support (LCS) of CTS. In the aircraft engineering it enables to project and plan production and logistic support in real time, higher competitiveness, reengineering of company processes at research, production and working of high-tech products. Control and establishment of flexible global logistic networks, with their huge communication and coordination needs, makes assumptions of their future intensive development.

Opis:
Improving product quality while making decisions remains a challenge. The objective of this research was to develop a model that supports the precise enhancement of product quality through comprehensive analysis of possibilities, product incompatibilities, root causes, and recommended improvement actions. The model incorporated various tools and methods such as the SMARTER method, expert team selection, brainstorming, Ishikawa diagram, 5M+E rule, FAHP, and FTOPSIS methods. The study demonstrated that integrating quality management tools and decision-making methods into a unified model enables the accurate prioritization of activities for product quality management. This integrated approach represents the novelty of this research. The model was evaluated using a mechanical seal made of 410 alloy. The research findings can be valuable to enterprises seeking to enhance product quality at any stage of production, particularly for modified or new products.

The article presents the organization of information structures for the needs of a complex, multi-faceted (multi-methodical) decision analysis, the subject of which is a certain category of objects. The focus is on the discussion of the transformation of the information structure of partial mathematical models, reflecting the objects of analysis, to the form of records of the database and on their connection into a more complex structure, so-called multi-model, in order to subject the method of multi-criteria optimization to calculations. There was also mentioned the possibility of transformation of these complex structures from data records to a simple, tabular form transferred on the inputs of method: AHP, Electre Tri, econometric analysis and induction of decision rules.

The pre-operative preparation of a surgeon is increasingly often extended to individual patient’s anatomical models depicting the affected organ and the existing lesion in relation to the surrounding structures (e.g. blood vessels). Among the models, there are models of the skeletal system, in which the FFF technology is used. The models of parenchymal organs are more difficult to reproduce due to the material limitations in the FFF technology, which is why alternative technologies such as PolyJet and SLA are used. Due to the high price of models, they are employed less frequently, especially in the Polish hospitals. The research presented in the article deals with the modification of the existing methodology of rapid pre-operative models production with the use of various low-budget rapid manufacturing techniques, which use materials of low hardness, similar to the human soft tissues. The aim was to create a methodology and determine the parameters of materials that allow for the cheap production of functional pre-operational aids.

Purpose: The main goal of the research was to determine the spectrum of instruments supporting management processes that are used to improve the quality of products in terms of sustainable development. We analyzed the degree of their use in the practical functioning of the surveyed enterprises. In addition, the aim of the research was to determine the scope of application of the indicated instruments or the possibility of their use in the decision-making process relating to the improvement of the broadly understood quality of products. Design/methodology/approach: The research method applied are: 1) standardized survey research making based on a survey conducted in contact and remote way conducted in 78 enterprises in south-eastern Poland; 2) analysis of the source documentation and in-depth interviews. It is a component of broader research. Findings: The following methods were used in decision-making processes with varying frequency: the Delphi method by 58% of respondents, Tree of Failure Analysis (by 52%), Event Tree Analysis (by 44%), and the QFD method (by 41% respondents). The surveyed companies that have implemented a vapour management system based on ISO standards tend to use 5 methods out of 25 cited in this study (these are a survey, brainstorming, 5Why and/or 5W2H, benchmarking, and the Delphi method). As a result of using mainly the above mentioned methods in decision-making processes, 74% (out of all) of the respondents indicated an increase in the quality level of products, and 39% of respondents indicated the enhancement of the pro-ecological impact of products on the natural environment. Research limitations/implications: Most of the analysed enterprises from SMEs are tried integrating qualitative-environmental actions as part of improving the quality of products. This approach is crucial when improving the quality of products in SMEs. Practical implications: It is necessary to develop a multidimensional modl enabling the optimization of decision-making processes with the possibility of making full use of the available instruments for improving the quality of the product in such a way as to meet the rapidly changing requirements of stakeholders. Originality/value: The article has cognitive value for development of knowledge, science, quality, and environmental in the area of management of products.

Opis:
Decision making supported by task-oriented software tools plays a pivotal role in a modern enterprise. That is because commercially available ERP systems are not able to respond in an interactive on-line/real-time mode. It opens a new generation of DSS that enable a fast prototyping of production flows in multi-project environment as well as an integrated approach to project execution evaluation. In that context our goal is to provide a knowledge base approach allowing one to be independent on a context or representation of particular data as well as allowing designing an interactive and task-oriented decision support system (DSS). The assumed knowledge base mode of specifying a production system leads to solving a logic-algebraic method (LAM) decision problem. The approach proposed complements the decision system with an additional module (evaluation module) and facilitates searching for possible solutions meeting company production programme execution evaluation criteria. The results obtained are implemented in a software package supporting project management in the SMEs. Illustrative example of the ILOG-based software application is provided.

Realizacja każdego górniczego procesu technologicznego, szczególnie w tak złożonych warunkach jakie występują w kopalniach podziemnych, powinna być monitorowana. Dotyczy to również zjawisk zachodzących wokół drążonych i utrzymywanych wyrobisk. W polskich kopalniach węgla kamiennego prowadzona ocena bieżącego stanu wyrobisk korytarzowych obejmuje najczęściej ocenę wizualną. Przy takim sposobie kontroli pracy obudowy, gdy nie ma możliwości ilościowej oceny stanu górotworu i obudowy, nie można skutecznie udoskonalać metod projektowych, oraz właściwe ocenić pracę zaprojektowanej konstrukcji. W artykule zawarto charakterystykę metod pomiarowych aktualnie stosowanych podczas monitorowania pracy obudowy oraz wybrane przykłady badań kopalnianych prowadzonych przez pracowników Wydziału Górnictwa i Geoinżynierii AGH. Przedstawiono różne aspekty stosowania monitoringu, który może służyć weryfikacji schematów obudowy, ocenie skuteczności rozrzedzania odrzwi obudowy podporowej oraz kontroli pracy nowych elementów konstrukcyjnych.
Executing of any mining technological process, especially in such complex conditions as in underground mines, should be monitored. It concerns the phenomena occur in the rock mass around the driving and maintaining development workings as well. In polish coal mines the assessment of running roadways’ stability is carried out in the visual way only. In this way, without the quantitative evaluation of rock mass and support state, there is no possibility to improve designing methods, support constructions and its specific elements. The paper contains the review of up-to-date monitoring methods and some selected examples of roadways’ monitoring carried out by the workers of Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering AGH UST. The diversity of roadways monitoring application was performed. The ground control can verify designed support schemes, support spacing and behaviour of new construction elements.

Artykuł obejmuje metodykę wyznaczenia funkcji kompensacji momentów podporowych dla wieloprzęsłowych belek składanych na podstawie badań modelowych. Funkcja ta ma zasadniczy wpływ na rozkład momentów zginających w zależności od wielkości luzów montażowych występujących w konstrukcjach składanych. Badania modelowe polegały na pomiarze ugięć belek składanych dwu- i trójprzęsłowych opartych na podporach stałych. Wykonano je dla różnych rozpiętości przęseł oraz różnych luzów montażowych pomiędzy dwoma składnikami belki. Uzyskane wyniki pomiarów tych ugięć pozwoliły jednoznacznie określić postać tej funkcji.
The following paper presents the experimental study of methodology for determination of a compensation function of moments at the support as regards the multi-span folding beams. This function plays pivotal role on bending moments distribution in relation to the assembly clearance appeared in the folding constructions. The scope of the experimental research ranged the two-span and three-span folding beams deflection measurements founded on fixed supports. The authors considered different factors influenced the effect of the examined process, including different lengths of spans and different size of the assembly clearance. The obtained results of the experimental measurements enabled us to unequivocally determine the mathematical form of this function.

The article addresses selected aspects of supporting the mobility of the Ground Forces in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The experience of contemporary armed conflicts in which Russian forces were involved confirmed the need to maintain subunits, guaranteeing maneuver freedom in the area occupied by the enemy. The study aims to present explanations concerning: the role and tasks of the engineering troops of the Russian Federation in contemporary armed conflicts, characteristics of the currently used methods of performing mine barriers, namely mechanical, electromechanical, explosive, manual, and combined ones. Also, the essence of engineering activities according to the views adopted in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the content of engineering support for mobility in tactical departments, and the interpretation of basic concepts, and the role of engineering units and subunits in the activities in question are presented. Besides, the executive potential of selected organizational and functional structures of engineering units, their purpose, and the possibility of implementing individual engineering tasks in tactical activities related to maneuvering and displacement are described. In the aspect of the issue of the impact of engineering barriers and destruction on the pace of the enemy’s attack, an analysis of the execution potential and tactics of operations (doctrinal patterns of combat operations) of a potential enemy (the other party and its capability of supporting the mobility of own troops in the implementation of engineering projects related to crossings (paving) in dams, through natural obstacles and areas of destruction as well as demining terrain and objects) was performed.
W artykule opisano wybrane aspekty z zakresu problematyki wsparcia mobilności wojsk lądowych w Siłach Zbrojnych Federacji Rosyjskiej. Doświadczenia współczesnych konfliktów zbrojnych, w których były zaangażowane siły rosyjskie, potwierdziły konieczność utrzymywania pododdziałów gwarantujących utrzymanie swobody manewru na terenie zajmowanym przez przeciwnika. Przeznaczeniem opracowania jest przybliżenie wyjaśnień dotyczących: roli i zadań wojsk inżynieryjnych Federacji Rosyjskiej we współczesnych konfliktach zbrojnych; charakterystyki aktualnie stosowanych sposobów wykonywania przejść zaporach minowych, tj.: mechaniczny, elektromechaniczny, wybuchowy, ręczny i kombinowany. Ponadto zaprezentowano istotę działań inżynieryjnych według poglądów przyjmowanych dotychczas w Siłach Zbrojnych Federacji Rosyjskiej, treści wsparcia inżynieryjnego mobilności w działach taktycznych i interpretacji zasadniczych pojęć oraz roli oddziałów i pododdziałów inżynieryjnych w przedmiotowych działaniach. Przybliżono też m.in. potencjał wykonawczy wybranych struktur organizacyjno-funkcjonalnych jednostek inżynieryjnych, ich przeznaczenie oraz możliwości realizacji poszczególnych zadań inżynieryjnych w działaniach taktycznych związanych z manewrem i przemieszczeniem. W aspekcie problematyki wpływu zapór inżynieryjnych i niszczeń na tempo natarcia przeciwnika dokonano analizy potencjału wykonawczego oraz taktyki prowadzenia działań (wzorców doktrynalnych działań bojowych) potencjalnego przeciwnika (stronę przeciwną oraz jego możliwości wsparcia mobilności wojsk własnych w zakresie realizacji przedsięwzięć inżynieryjnych związanych z wykonywaniem przejść (torowaniem) w zaporach, przez przeszkody naturalne i rejony zniszczeń oraz rozminowaniem terenu i obiektów. Na końcu artykułu podane są najważniejsze wnioski, stanowiące uogólnienie wyników badań zawartych w poszczególnych częściach publikacji.

Opis:
Purpose: The basic purpose of research was to determine the causes of making the decision that manufacturers on their way to improve the quality of their products. Design/methodology/approach: The research method applied in article is mainly standardized survey research making based on survey conducted in contact and remote way conducted in 78 enterprises in south-eastern Poland. The research process also accompanied analysis of thesource documentation. Findings: It was concluded that decision during improving quality of the product were making mainly in simultaneously with considering customers' requirements of the customers about the quality of the products and the impact of products on the natural environment. Research limitations/implications: Most of the verified enterprises from SMEs are tried integrating qualitative-environmental actions as part of improving the quality of products. This is a favorable condition for further research, so that it is possible to adjust the quality and environmental approach when improving the quality of products in SMEs. Practical implications: Discussion of the results of research have a series of practical implications mainly for product management staff. Especially in organizations that designed new products or also in significant modification of these products. Social implications: Building awareness improves not only quality of products, but also simultaneously in line with sustainable development, including in improving environmental aspects. Originality/value: The article has cognitive value for development of knowledge, science, quality, and environmental in the area of management of products.

Opis:
Złożoność, wieloetapowość oraz niejednorodność przedsięwzięć inżynieryjnych wiąże się z trudnościami w doborze narzędzi informatycznych, umożliwiających ich racjonalne wspomaganie. Brak zgodności informacyjnej i funkcjonalnej poszczególnych aplikacji, wykorzystywanych do wspomagania kolejnych etapów złożonego przedsięwzięcia sprawia, że spójna realizacja takiego procesu jest albo znacznie utrudniona, albo wręcz niemożliwa. Istotna zatem wydaje się próba dokonania oceny możliwości wykorzystania do tego celu zintegrowanych aplikacji o charakterze hybrydowym. Wykorzystywane są one z powodzeniem do wspomagania złożonych, niejednorodnych przedsięwzięć o charakterze biznesowym, a ich specyfika i znaczny zakres potencjalnych zastosowań umożliwia ich wykorzystanie również w zakresie problemów inżynieryjnych, oferując przy tym spójność informacyjną i funkcjonalną całego przedsięwzięcia.
Engineering tasks, such as the ones presented in the article related to civil engineering, examined in the informational and decision-making context, are frequently complex, multi-stage and heterogeneous in nature. This leads to difficulties when selecting IT tools that enable their support. No informational or functional conformity of particular applications used to support the subsequent stages of a complex task makes the coherent realisation of such a process considerably harder or even impossible. Support of numerous homogenous engineering tasks is provided with the use of technologies that have been adopted from other management areas, mainly dedicated to business operations. This is what one should also do with complex and heterogeneous engineering problems. It seems rational that integrated applications that allow one to both solve algorithmic problems and heuristic ones should be employed. Integrated hybrid systems ensure continuity of support for complex, multi-stage engineering problems, at the same time offering informational and functional coherence of the whole task.
