Opis:
During the operation of the vehicle the friction in dissipative elements causes change of temperature mode. So there is a change in viscosity and volume of liquid. Also, change gas volume and pressure of elastic element. It has a significant impact on dissipative characteristic of suspensions as well as the elastic ones. The study of the rated model dedicated to the proces s of changing gas pressure and volume, as well as using as a working liquid oils with different densities and different viscosity changes depending on change of temperature mode. The rated model is presented basing on the elaboration, executed in Volgograd State Technical University in collaboration with Volgograd Engineering Company (ŤVMC" VgTZ). Researchers based on change of pressure of gas in elastic element at constant Volume; on change of volume of gas at constant pressure: on change of volume of liquid depending on used oil; on change of resistance of dissipative element at change of properties of liquid. In the paper example results of experimental researches of hvdromatic spring are presented. A comparison of resistance change of the shock-absorber at rise in temperature is worked out as well. Analysis of the obtained results indicates that essential influence has charting pressure.

The work analyzes the possibility of using a truck chassis in terms of installing a specific device. As part ofwork was selected the vehicle, identified the necessary geometric parameters and the mass allowing of modernization, with particular emphasis on the required structural changes in the front and rear suspension. To this were used, the developed two phase methodology of calculation of the metal elastic elements (springs) and mechanical lateral tilt stabilizers. Results of numerical calculations are presented in the form of recommendations to redesign of the front and rear suspension. However, in the front suspension should be made a new spring and a mechanical lateral tilt stabilizer, while rear spring suspension meets the requirements in terms of elastic characteristics (adequate the coefficient of rigidity) is requiredonly adjustment of the static deflection of the suspension for example by adjusting the radii of leaf of the spring. Because of the design solution of the driving rear axle (so called driving axle trolley) was not proposed mechanical lateral tilt stabilizer. Paper present diagram of the forces acting on a vehicle with special equipment, results of the calculation loads acting on the suspension components fitted to a lorry with a special device, results of the calculation loads acting on the base vehicle suspension components, the basic parameters of a lorry with special hull and performance graph of the front suspension leaf spring resilience.

This paper presents the results of Open End (OE) yarn tension investigation using a yarn-guide funnel with an elastic element. Obtained were the dependencies of tension change on such factors as body mass, elastic element rigidity, yarn coordinates on the funnel surface, and the speed of yarn moving. The values of these factors cause fluctuations in yarn tension and, consequently, in yarn structure and characteristics. On the basis of experiments, it was shown that due to using of a yarn-guide funnel with an elastic element, a decrease in yarn unevenness is achieved. It is easily regulated by the funnel mass, the rigidity rate of the elastic element, and the spinning speed.

A new method and numerical procedure for determining the plastic limit load in an ellipsoid-cylinder intersection using the elastic-plastic finite element analysis are presented. The proposed method is based on the maximum criterion of the rate of change of the relative plastic work. For the elastic-plastic analysis of the nozzle connections the 2D finite element method and plasticity theory with strain hardening are used. The results of the comparison of the plastic limit pressure obtained on the basis of different known criteria and the proposed criterion are presented. A parametric study of ellipsoidal heads with a nozzle under internal pressure loading was performed. The effects of nondimensional geometric parameters of shell intersection on the plastic limit pressure are discussed.

Opis:
The value of all composite elastic modules has the crucial influence on dynamic behaviour of aviation load-bearing structures. Numerous experimental techniques and standards are used to characterize the elastic properties of polymeric composite materials. Among this is the large group of static tests, acoustic methods based on longitudinal, lateral or shear surface sound wave speed measurements and also on vibrating surfaces amplitude measurements. However, preparation specimens for static test with shape required by standards not always possible from already manufactured piece. Again the designated dynamic experiment introduces difficulties of investigated specimen acoustic isolating, impossibility of some required wave type excitation and performing of displacements field measurement with guaranteed precision. In this study an acoustic method is developed using the measure of all specimen's eigenfrequencies in a certain frequency range. Small rectangular composite specimen is excited by glued piezoelectric actuator and response is measured by piezoelectric sensor. Preliminary performed finite-element (FE) analyses serve to think the vibration natural modes of linked mechanical system - specimen and piezoelectric element. In this FE analyse the rough estimations of all elastic constants obtained from other independents (as a rule static) experiments were used. Further the amelioration of initial elastic modules was performed. Thereby the target nonlinear functional dependent on all quest modules was minimized by genetic and (or) Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm.

Opis:
Fatigue failure avoidance is a goal that can be achieved only if the fatigue design is an integral part of the original design program. The purpose of fatigue design is to ensure that the structure has adequate fatigue life. Calculated fatigue life can form the basis for meaningful and efficient inspection programs during fabrication and throughout the life of the ship. The main objective of this paper is to develop an add-on program for the analysis of fatigue crack growth in ship structural details. The developed program will be an add-on script in a pre-existing package. A crack propagation in a tanker side connection is analyzed by using the developed program based on linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) and finite element method (FEM). The basic idea of the developed application is that a finite element model of this side connection will be first analyzed by using ABAQUS and from the results of this analysis the location of the highest stresses will be revealed. At this location, an initial crack will be introduced to the finite element model and from the results of the new crack model the direction of the crack propagation and the values of the stress intensity factors, will be known. By using the calculated direction of propagation a new segment will be added to the crack and then the model is analyzed again. The last step will be repeated until the calculated stress intensity factors reach the critical value.

Opis:
The work reports on the development of random three-dimensional Laguerre-Voronoi computational models for open cell foams. The proposed method can accurately generate foam models having randomly distributed parameter values. A three-dimensional model of ceramic foams having pre-selected cell volumes distribution with stochastic coordinates and orientations was created in the software package ANSYSTM. Different groups of finite element models were then generated using the developed foam modeling procedure. The size sensitivity study shows that each of foam specimens at least contains 125 LV-cells. The developed foam models were used to simulate the macroscopic elastic properties of open cell foams under uni-axial and bi-axial loading and were compared with the existing open cell foam models in the literature. In the high porosity regime, it is found that the elastic properties predicted by random Laguerre-Voronoi foam models are almost the same as those predicted by the perfect Kelvin foam models. In the low porosity regime the results of the present work deviate significantly from those of other models in the literature. The results presented here are generally in better agreement with experimental data than other models. Thus, the Laguerre-Voronoi foam models generated in this work are quite close to real foam topology and yields more accurate results than other open cell foam models.

In the paper the complex model of hardening of the hot-work tool steel is presented. Model of estimation of phase fractions and their kinetics is based on the continuous heating diagram (CHT) and cooling diagram (CCT). Phase fractions which occur during the continuous heating and cooling (austenite, pearlite or bainite) are described by Johnson-Mehl (JM) formula. To determine of the formed martensite the modified Koistinen-Marburger (KM) equation is used. Model takes into account the thermal, structural, plastic strains and transformation plasticity. To calculate the plastic strains the Huber-Mises plasticity condition with isotopic hardening is used. Whereas to determine transformations induced plasticity the Leblond model is applied. The numerical analysis of phase compositions and residual stresses in the hot-work steel (W360) element is considered.
W pracy przedstawiono kompleksowy model hartowania stali narzędziowej do pracy na gorąco. A numerical method is presented for a mathematical model which describes the frictional contact between a thermo-electro-elastic body and a conductive foundation. The contact is described by Signorini’s conditions and Tresca’s friction law including electrical and ther- mal conductivity conditions. Our aim is to present a detailed description of the numerical modelling of the problem. To this end, we introduce a discrete scheme based on the finite element method. Under some regularity assumptions imposed on the true solution, optimal order error estimates are derived for the linear element solution. This theoretical result is illustrated numerically.

Software DYNMACH has been designed for the dynamic analysis (vibrations) of machines placed on elastic foundation pads assuming non-linear foundation characteristics. Floating platforms of marine engines are designed for noise and vibration isolation between ship hull and engine. Excessive loadings acting on ship hull can be also eliminated by elastic foundation. Analysis of that kind of marine machines is the main target of presented software. It has been assumed that the machines are modeled as rigid bodies while the foundation is treated as a set of elements of non-linear elastic-damping characteristics. Software DYNMACH is the implementation of the Rigid Finite Element Method. A machine can be modeled as a single rigid finite element composed of an arbitrary number of elementary rigid bodies. The following rigid body types are available in the library of the program: a plate, a brick, and a full cylinder. Elastic elements used for foundation modeling can have non-linear stiffness and damping characteristics. These characteristics can be assumed as functions of the foundation displacement or the expected excitation frequency. A built system can be loaded by an arbitrary number of static forces. These static forces are used for a preliminary calculation of strains and the centre of equilibrium, as well as for determination of the stiffness and damping coefficients of the non-linear elastic damping elements in the equilibrium position. Program DYNMACH can calculate the frequencies and modes of natural vibration of the loaded system, as well as calculates of system responses to dynamic excitations. Assuming only small vibration amplitudes the dynamic behaviour of the system can be considered as linear, however, this linear behaviour is imposed on the non-linear equilibrium conditions obtained from the solution of the coupled static problem. Database of different types of rubber machines couplings has been build-in the DYNMACH software.

Damage of bone structures is mainly conditioned by bone quality related to the bone strength. The purpose of this work was to present a simple and reliable numerical treatment of a quasi-brittle damage constitutive model coupled with two different elastic modulus and to compare the numerical results with the experimental ones. Methods: To achieve this goal, a QCT based finite element model was developed within the framework of CDM (Continuum Damage Mechanics) and implemented in the FE code (ABAQUS). It described the propagation of brittle cracks which will help to predict the ultimate load fracture of a human vertebra by reproducing the experimental failure under quasi-static compressive loading paths of nineteen cadaveric lumbar vertebral bodies. Results: The numerical computations delivered by the proposed method showed a better agreement with the available experimental results when bone volume fraction related Young’s modulus (E(BV/TV)) is used instead of density related Young’s modulus (E(ρ)). Also, the study showed that the maximum relative error (%) in failure was 8.47% when E(BV/TV) was used, whereas the highest relative error (%) was 68.56% when E(ρ) was adopted. Finally, a mesh sensitivity analysis revealed that the element size has a weak incidence on the computed load magnitude. Conclusions: The numerical results provided by the proposed quasi-brittle damage model combined with E(BV/TV) are a reliable tool for the vertebrae fracture prediction.

Opis:
An analytical and numerical study of the tangential contact of a spherical particle under varying combined normal-tangential loading is presented. The normal and tangential contact is described by the Hertz and regularized Coulomb laws. This study is focused on the analysis of the tangential displacement of the particle’s contact point under variable normal force and reevaluation of the procedures for calculation of the tangential force. The incremental displacement-driven and force-driven constitutive relationships are developed. The importance of an adequate numerical treatment of the tangential component of the contact force is shown for the slide mode, and the recommendations for its evaluation are proposed. The performance of the algorithm is demonstrated by solving the problem of the oblique impact of the spherical particle on the wall. The suggested methodology allows us to analyse the elastic and sliding effects of the tangential interaction more precisely than existing methodologies. Besides, the issue of the direction of the tangential force, when the Coulomb limit is reached, was reconsidered in one-dimensional case by taking three versions of the unit direction vector, which are based on the tangential elastic displacement, tangential stick force, and tangential relative velocity of the contact point of the particle.

This paper presents the results of numerical wave propagation problems with the example of a simple isotropic bar tension. Numerical results were compared to the elastic analytical solution, indicating the correct algorithm operation. There are no analytical solutions in terms of plastic conditions, so the numerical solution of this problem is proposed. The article gives an algorithm for calculating the stress that includes account the maximum value of the parameter in this question and in the same time modifies the time step in the calculations for the stability of the solution. Modifications in the calculation of the stiffness matrix are caused by the phenomenon of material strengthening. The proposed algorithm dramatically accelerates the solution when the stability of the computation takes place comparing to classical iterative method. The aim of this study is to highlight the importance of the selection of the time step in calculating the stability of solutions, especially when the state of elastic material goes into plastic. The proposed algorithm accelerates the solution when the stability of the computation takes place and compared to classical iterative method.
