    Opis:
    The article discusses  domestic violence as  dangerous, unlawful and violent conduct, which currently threatens a generation of seniors. The author stresses the need for primary prevention of  domestic violence in the context of the education of seniors, at the University of the Third Age. In the text we present the content focus of  preventative lectures to the target group of seniors. In connection with the content of primary prevention is highlighted to the opportunity to help the victims of domestic violence through the association for assistance to victims of crime „Bílý kruh bezpečí“. On the basis of the exploratory investigation, in the text there where presented the views at the seniors on the issue of the domestic violence.

    Opis:
    With the development of Information and Communication Technologies one can observe the phenomenon of e-exclusion of certain social groups. Among them there are the persons in late adulthood who for various reasons do not use computers or the internet. The causes of this can be located in the low financial status of this social group. At the same time, the argument is raised that the more important problem is the lack of motivation and the number of obstacles that seniors face in their access to ICT. The paper presents the conclusions from the research conducted with the Avec Association and the Games and Innovation in Education Research Team - Edutainment (Zespół Badawczy Gier i Innowacji w Edukacji - Edutainment). This encompasses, on the one hand, problems pertaining to seniors’ motivation, the obstacles that they face, their perception of the virtual world, and on the other, the description of the search for new educational methods that may make it possible to increase the effectiveness of computer skills training courses.

    Educational activity of seniors and the concept of active aging. The article is an attempt to answer the question of how to manage inevitable old age in a changing reality. The aim of the presented study is to present the concept of active aging and to define the role of education in this process. The presented considerations are of theoretical nature, deepened by the literature of the subject and statistical studies. The main conclusion from the study is the belief that education is not only an opportunity, but a guarantee of active aging, provided that it will be implemented in a systemic and long-lasting way.

    Celem artykułu jest ukazanie Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku jako miejsca sprzyjającego samorealizacji i samorozwojowi seniorów. Stanowi próbę ukazania aktywności współczesnych osób starszych. Artykuł jest oparty przede wszystkim na doświadczeniach w pracy ze słuchaczami Dębickiego Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku i wywiadach „na poły skategoryzowanych”, realizowanych na dwudziestopięcioosobowej grupie seniorów. Głównym celem badań było uzyskanie informacji na temat tego, jak sami zainteresowani postrzegają Uniwersytet Trzeciego Wieku w kontekście własnego rozwoju.
    The purpose of this article is to present the University of the Third Age as a place conducive to self-realization for seniors. It is an attempt to show the activity of the elderly today. The article is based primarily on experience in working with students of Dębicki University of the Third Age and in-depth interviews, carried out on a 25-person group of seniors. The main objective of the study was to obtain information on how they perceive the university interested in the third age in the context of their own development.

    Zgodnie z dyrektywą Europejskiej Karty Samorządu Terytorialnego kierowanie sprawami publicznymi powinno należeć do organów władzy, które są najbliżej obywatela, czyli rad gmin, wójtów, burmistrzów czy prezydentów miast, zwanych samorządami terytorialnymi. Społeczne skutki upodmiotowienia gmin, według tego dokumentu, są zdecydowanie pozytywne, bowiem uruchamiają inicjatywę oddolną i dynamiczny rozwój lokalnych społeczności. Do przykładów tych inicjatyw należą powoływane od 2001 roku w Polsce Młodzieżowe Rady Gmin oraz powoływane od 2012 roku Gminne Rady Seniorów. Zarówno jedne jak i drugie są niewątpliwie wyrazem troski i zaangażowania mieszkańców i lokalnych włodarzy o sprawy rozwoju regionalnego. To również namacalny dowód funkcjonowania w Polsce społeczeństwa obywatelskiego.
    According to the European Charter of Local Self-government, managing public affairs should belong to the authorities that are closest to the citizen, i.e. councils of municipalities, vogts, mayors or presidents of cities, called local governments. Social effects of empowerment of municipalities, according to this document, are definitely positive, because they launch a grassroots initiative and dynamic development of local communities. Examples of these initiatives are the Municipal Youth Councils established in Poland since 2001 and the Municipal Councils of Seniors established since 2012. Both of them are undoubtedly an expression of the care and commitment of residents and local authorities to regional development issues. It is also a proof of the functioning of civil society in Poland.

    Since 2015, the Jagiellonian University Museum has regularly partnered with the Jagiellonian University of the Third Age (JUTA) by organizing lectures for seniors on selected issues concerning the history and collections of the university. The author of this paper extensively surveyed the attendees to evaluate how much information they were able to remember. To illustrate the absorption of knowledge by seniors, the questionnaires were analyzed in terms of three questions: (1) Did most of the respondents obtain a positive (i.e. good or highly satisfactory) or negative (unsatisfactory) result? (2) Which result (unsatisfactory, good, or highly satisfactory) did the largest number of respondents achieve? (3) What was the ratio of unsatisfactory to highly satisfactory results? The questionnaires highlighted the strongest points of the program, but also its shortcomings. Based on them, we can conclude that the lectures make a lot of sense, enriching the JUTA students with knowledge bordering on popular science as well as specialist knowledge. An important benefit of the study is feedback for those preparing and delivering the lectures.

Przygotowanie osób wchodzących w „trzeci wiek” do czasu na emeryturze stwarza im szansę na aktywne przeżywanie starości oraz ułatwienie życia w starzejącym się społeczeństwie. W niniejszym artykule koncentruję się na zależności między wykonywanym zawodem a obrazem własnej starości i przygotowaniem się do niej. Artykuł jest również próbą wskazania obszarów, w jakich powinno się odbywać przygotowanie do emerytury
    Preparing for retirement, in the age of an aging society, becomes not only an individual, but also a social problem. It becomes a challenge for geragogy, but also for the social policy of the state or the activity of local governments. Preparing people entering the „third age” for retirement gives them an opportunity to actively experience old age and facilitate life in an aging society. In this article, I would like to focus on the relationship between one’s profession and the image of one’s old age and preparation for it. The article is also an attempt to indicate the areas in which preparation for retirement should take place
