Opis:
Mobile mini-robots are commonly used for research, education and popularization of science. Often, commercially available mini-robots don't quite fit the characteristics needed for a particular task, and are difficult to adapt since they have proprietary software and hardware. Moreover, they are often quite expensive. In this work we present a relatively low-cost, reconfigurable robot equipped with a wide variety of sensors and enough processing power to allow the on-board execution of intelligent algorithms. We present the complete hardware architecture, and a modularized software architecture that makes full use of hardware interruptions and software processes to have a perfectly timed control of the robot. All these characteristics make the new mobile mini robot ExaBot a very malleable, multi task mini-robot.

Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, Iloilo City. The participants in this study were the randomly selected one hundred and thirty-three (133) marine engineering students of JBLFMU-Molo, Iloilo City who had taken subjects with CBTs. The present study employed quantitative-qualitative research design by Creswell (2013). Results reveal the following: (1) review with CBT or CBTR review is the mostly utilized subject because this is needed in the marine engineering licensure examinations; (2) level of assessment of CBTs is excellent; (3) no significant differences in the assessment of CBTs were found out among marine engineering students as classified according to different variables such as academic performance, students’ classification, type of students, and section.

Opis:
This article intends to share a very particular perspective on teacher education and educational research while asserting the inevitability, inescapability, of such local epistemological bias[1]. It discusses the hermeneutic, narrative, decolonial and performative turns and their interplay with the geocultural and political conditions in a con-text[2] which is acknowledged as highly productive (and strongly conditioning) of social meaning. On the basis of teaching and research experience, some insurgent, gentle moves have been designed as ethico-onto-epistemological gestures to experiment on concrete possibilities of fluidity and instability for master narratives. Far from naïvely believing in the “fall”, “end” or “breaking down” of these narratives, defusing them involves instead a positioning on language, narrative and discourse capable of devising provisional and changing patterns of contingent intelligibility which allow for greater exercise of civic sovereignty. Critical, decolonial and queer pedagogies actually constitute the core beliefs which—subjected to the constraints of contingency—are asked to perform this double role of both structuring and shattering grand narratives. [1] It must be noted that this positioning has implied an explicit rejection of the use of passive voice and the (impersonalized) third person in writing this article. The choice of the pronoun “we” constitutes in itself a political gesture –an exercise of rhetoric prerogative, in the terms Segato (2019), Walsh (2011), and Yedaide (2017) propose—. In addition, we affiliate to the thesis which claims that separating the personal and the political constitutes a modern technology: a culture of the non-culture (Haraway, 1997), that is to say, a maneuver that conceals the necessary political bias present in all social products, even and especially when these are self-presented as merely technical. As to our use of English in writing—though apparently contradictory with the epistemic authority we defend—it must be read simply as a gesture manifesting willingness to engage in productive dialogue with peoples who do not speak Spanish. [2] The choice of splitting the word “context” as “con-text” aims at raising awareness regarding the decisive influence that any setting exercises in meaning-making (a site should not be taken as merely ornamental or as landscape/ background but rather as an agent, productive in the construction of meaning, we argue.

Opis:
Problems in communication between scientific entities and companies that could commercialize results of the research. Among others the following problems of the scientific entities are risen: - focus on publication and education teaching - lack of professional support from own institution (law, marketing, finance etc.) - unclear rules for raising funds from public sources - lack of conviction and motivation to assume risky research, due to the opportunity to derive profits from other research and scientific institutions (universities) - lack of experience in managing research results and their commercialization - inabilitv to 'sell' scientific achievements as a value for the client - cult of basic research On the other hand companies are not prepared to implement results because of - lack of thinking about innovation - lack of awareness of reporting needs to the science - the lack of unequivocal financial incentives for innovations - lack of a worked-out system results in the emergence of difficulties in implementation, which are the cause of low inclination to taking risks and preferring safe business models - appealing voices and opinions suggesting low usefulness of the results of national scientific research.

At the same time, we present the results of research aimed at diagnosing literacy, which we have implemented for children of preschool age. The diagnosis is based on an innovative concept of understanding literacy and diagnosis, which is in Slovakia so far very little-used. We built a diagnostic tool through the application of digital technologies. We consider this a most effective and entertaining possibility for the diagnosis of children.

Opis:
The author makes an attempt to identify the contribution of Dzierżymir Jankowski towards creating theoretical foundations to the cultural and educational activity. By presenting his academic activity the author convincingly justifies the thesis that Dzierżymir Jankowski is the first researcher in Polish reality to interdisciplinarily analyse the problem, which resulted in original conclusions described in detail in quoted works, indicated in this article. Among these accomplishments there are: identification and categorisation of cultural centre characteristics, explication of its so-called culture creation function, innovative definition of the term „cultural and educational work”, application of pioneer research methods of this area of social life and construction of own original cultural education conception.

This simply means that if Engineering students do not learn effectively, the graduates will hardly stand a chance in the global competition. This research presents information on the status of accreditation and evaluation of engineering programs in different countries around the world. The focus will be on United States ABET criteria 2016, the Canadian Council of Professional Engineering criteria and the FEANI standards for European institutions Accreditation policies and procedures of other countries are also described briefly in the research. Information on mutual recognition agreements and the cross border recognition of engineering education will also be emphasized.

The paper argues for the necessity to combine MMR methods (questionnaire, interview), gaze tracking as neuroscience tool and sentiment/opinion techniques for personal satisfaction analysis at the maritime and training education (MET) and proposes a practical research approach for this purpose. The purpose of this paper is to compare the results from gaze tracker (Face analysis tool) of three experiments & sentiment analysis of two experiments for satisfaction evaluation of the students-users’ (subjective) satisfaction of the maritime education via user interface evaluation of several types of educational software (i.e. engine simulator, ECDIS, MATLAB). The experimental procedure presented here is a primary effort to research the emotion analysis (satisfaction) of the users-students in MET. The gaze tracking & sentiment analysis methodology appears to be one sufficient as evaluation tool. Finally, the ultimate goal of this research is to find and test the critical factors that influence the educational practice and user’s satisfaction of MET modern educational tools (simulators, ECDIS etc.).

This article reports on a project that employed narrative inquiry captured on film to explore the creative practices of five mature graduates. They had previously been mature students and continued to work within their various communities after they had left formal education. The participants were asked to describe their creative practice and its impact on other people through interviews and presentations. A researcher with help from a professional filmmaker carried out the project. From the initial footage, three polished, edited versions of the films were made. The participants could use the films to promote their own work if they so wished. Narrative inquiry is a means of seeing the connections between significant incidents and longerterm impact beyond formal education. The film footage was able to capture the connectivity between formal education, the participants and the people who had been touched by their creative practices. It successfully gave a narrative coherence to the participants’ stories. Where appropriate, the visual aspects of creativity were captured, in this case, the participants all had a creative practice, and the visual realm was an important part of their stories. The findings of the project were that the participants had some shared values about the importance of creative education. They all developed portfolio careers in order to carry on their creative work. All the participants were able to give examples of particular instances where their creative practice had had an impact on other people. In other words, adult learning does not just influence the individual but can have a wider and longer-term impact on others.
