The following text shows what environmental education is, as its priorities have been formulated in the National Strategy for Environmental Education. In addition, it shows the areas in which knowledge is acquired in this field. Next, a study report on the state of educational content introduction in education programs at all stages of formal education was discussed.

This article deals with the issue of achieving the goals of ecological education in the context of the fable The Wolf Called Ambaras by Tomasz Samojlik and its influence on shaping pro-ecological attitudes of children and adolescents towards wolves. The fable The Wolf Called Ambaras by Tomasz Samojlik is part of the literature trend promoting pro-ecological attitudes within the framework of ecological education. The main educational goal included in the story of the fable treating the adventures of the young wolf is to provide young readers and their parents the knowledge about the wolves’ life as well as public awareness of the need to protect the wolf by shaping positive attitudes of people towards this predator. Helpful in this assumption is taking up the problem of overthrowing negative stereotypes about wolves, on which the form of answers as well as attemption of demythologizing them are individual scenes of the fable. The plot of the analyzed fable attempts to answer the three main allegations of people towards wolves, which often appear in social, political and ecological discourse: the issue of wolves attacks on people, the impact of wolves hunting on forest game population and the public perception of a wolf as a bad animal, one unnecessary in the ecosystem. In addition, the bibliotherapeutic character of the fable was indicated. Through identificaiton with the character of the fable, readers can overcome their own fears related to their weaknesses and complexes based on the desensitization.

The role of environmental teaching specialists in realizing ecological and environmental education is significant and varied. Above all, it comes down to the help offered to teachers in running and realizing the subjects related to ecological and environmental education. It concerns the teachers who teach environmental education, biology, ecology and environment conservation. The role of teaching specialists is writing syllabuses to be realized in the classrooms (at schools) or during field trips in direct contact with nature. Running post-graduate university courses in the subject they include the issues of ecology and environmental protection. They invite teachers of nature, biology, ecology and environment protection to Seminars, Symposiums, Conferences that deal with the subject of ecology and environment teaching.

Opis:

The XXI century for humanity is a challenge in awareness of failures in the condition of the social environment as well in huge contamination of nature. This problem can be resolved only on the way of grasping the junctures of man in the world toward Absolute and the other adventitious entities. There is a necessary general change of human awareness, which will strengthen love to the other people and amends an evil site between mankind. It should be joined with changing mentality reducing consumption material goods (savings in using up energies and industrial goods) and taking care of remaining for succeeding generations natural environments in better condition than that nowadays. It also needs to create a new high level of outlook upon ecology, which accepts ecological values. This outlook eschewing idealism and inaccuracies should be based on the real ground of Aristotelic and Thomistic orientation. Moreover, it must avoid hatchway in the knowledge, from here society aside from knowledge natures, technical, juridical and economical should own knowing humanistic, which regards anthropology, axioms, theology, and religion (get into completely mode with helping of recognition common sense, wisdom, scientific, philosophic and religionist). On the other way hatchways, inaccuracies, and even contrarieties into understanding the world will become dominant and lead to quarrels and antagonisms. From here floats a huge challenge for leaders, who should take on their own shoulder responsibility upon the future of our planet and humanity.

One of the most important problems of the present day is the safety of the existence of a human being and his or her cultural, civilizational and environmental existence. The idea about what should be done in order to guarantee the safe existence of species is the reason for the discussion within the broad circles of those dealing with science and also philosophy, and in particular eco-philosophy. It is eco-philosophy that truly focuses on substantiating the ways of thinking as well as the rules governing the committed and well-thought actions related to the environmental protection. Educational initiatives for sustainable development are open to the influence of eco-philosophy. Therefore, the need to fill educational strategies and programs with the subtle philosophical “matter”, expressed in the form of values and related behavioral norms, opens a significantly large space for eco-philosophers and the eco-philosophy itself. It needs to be emphasized that the relation between the education for sustainable development and the activities aimed at strengthening the structures of the civil society creates additional interest on the part of numerous social entities as regards the philosophical discourse.

Opis:

This article raises a question of the possibility and need of catechetical adaptation of Laudato si encyclical by Pope Francis. Excerpts of the encyclical showing different forms of integral ecology and appreciation on the basis of ecology of such attitudes as gratitude, humbleness and cheerfulness undoubtedly pose challenges for the contemporary catechesis. They have the current knowledge about ecology and can be effectively used in school or parish catechesis in ecological education. The content of this encyclical comprises the source of ecological formation both for the catechist and the catechized. From the practical point of view many issues discussed in this encyclical can constitute the material to prepare the scripts of catechesis.
Artykuł porusza ważną kwestię możliwości i potrzeby katechetycznej adaptacji encykliki Laudato si’ papieża Franciszka. Fragmenty encykliki wskazujące na różne formy ekologii integralnej oraz dowartościowanie na gruncie ekologii takich postaw jak wdzięczność, pokora i pogoda ducha stanowią bez wątpienia wyzwania dla współczesnej katechezy. Zawierają one aktualną wiedzę o ekologii i mogą skutecznie posłużyć w katechezie szkolnej bądź parafialnej do wychowania ekologicznego. Treści encykliki stanowią źródło formacji ekologicznej zarówno dla samego katechety, jak i katechizowanych. Z praktycznego punktu widzenia wiele kwestii poruszonych w encyklice może stanowić materiał do przygotowania scenariuszy katechez.

It seems necessary that the police surroundings should get known about the natural environmental protection which sozology is. During the research that I carried out among the policemen I’ve done the questionnare about information and ecological consciousness of the police. I’ve examined 500 policemen. Just 2 % of the surveyed brought the environmental protection to their mind, 98% wrongly thought just about ecology. This situation forces wider defining teh sozology and presenting its episthemological and methodological aspects. What is more it demands wider participation in police teaching programmes.

In the modern world, the value and the dignity of man, the value of life are very often placed in doubt, while consumer mentality, the glorification of freedom, subjection to egoism - achieve great measures. This situation has its negative reflection on education towards the respect of the socio-natural environment. Suggestions presented for pro-ecological education quite frequently concentrate on practical recommendations, which apply above all to the world of nature. Many a time the social dimension of this education and personalistic motivation are omitted. So, the uncovering of the value of pedagogical personalism for ecological education is especially important today. The reflection presented here shows that ecological education is close to the personalistic concept of education, and it is even immanently rooted in the aims and principles plotted by it. At the foundations of ecological education in personalism, we find the greatness and the dignity of the human being as a person. The .personalistic norm.) of pro-ecological education by no means depreciates other beings possessing autonomy and objective value. Between man and other beings, one can see close ties, relations of interdependence, common sharing of destiny. This is especially underlined in the Christian concept of personalism, which directs the whole of education in the Christ-centered direction.

The aim of the realisation of the material is getting the results of carried on research concerning the fact of finding out to what level contents involving the balanced development during the educational activities was introduced, moreover, what influence of such issues on the creating the right attitudes towards the pro-ecological awareness of young people was. The balanced development is at present the challenge for creating the awareness not only of the particular society, but also in the widest sense the whole generation of people. Recently, relation between human being and nature is mainly that environmental resources are gained by people to assurance themselves worthy living conditions. People’s actions are often not very well motivated, leading to serious consequences such as degradation of environmental components. The way of making use of biosphere components are undoubtedly depend on degree of ecological awareness and on people’s responsibility for environment. A creation of pro-ecological attitudes is one of main goals of ecological education. This article shows the ways of understanding ecological education, the areas of its interest, its essence, and the most important trends and values in the contemporary world.

Opis:

The Supreme Audit Office examined whether the public funds transferred on the basis of subsidy contracts for realisation of projects related to environmental protection and ecological education were appropriately used by beneficiaries. Twenty entities were audited that used the subsidies, which are not budget units established for this purpose. Among the auditees, there were 17 non-governmental organisations, two local self-government units and one higher education school. Sixty projects were audited altogether that had been implemented between 1 January 2013 and 22 February 2016.

In the urban space we can see less and less elements of animate and inanimate nature. The dominance of skyscrapers, office buildings, and large-scale shopping malls contributes to limiting the development of children and adults in the natural environment. Limited green areas, prevent contact with the ecosystem. The remaining few Family Allotment Gardens located for example in Warsaw, as well as the establishment of community gardens on the initiative of local residents, can be a form of creating social bonds and an ecological awareness. Through this kind of participation for environmental protection, we can educate children, youth and adults about the need to raise the level of environmental issues. The article presents qualitative research consisting of the analysis of documents concerning local initiatives disseminated in the mass media and on the websites of local, non-governmental bodies. Not every person is looking for such information, so not everyone understands the need to preserve green areas and the possibility of integration and popularization of knowledge in the field of environmental protection. The article will also present the works of The Maria Grzegorzewska University students who were to design a garden located at educational institutions. Ideas of students will be presented in the photographs. The subject matter is undoubtedly necessary to show among educators the relationship between the city – the individual – society, for example upbringing in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Teaching about ecology at the Maria Grzegorzewska University at the department of Education for Sustainable Development may be an example combining pedagogy with ecology, as part of the APS Jubilee celebrations.

Opis:

The 20th century is still a time of intensive promoting the sustainable development concepts, the assumptions of environmental ethics and curricula for ecological education in Poland. The already observed problem of natural resources and their initial shortage combined with the ongoing increase of human life's needs not only inclines us to reflections, but also extorts us to undertake radical actions. Human being with his rationality and freedom places himself and his personal good above any other existence, which makes him believe he is the moderator or even the nature's ruler. Human activity, his strive for quick implementation of ideas and pursuing material comfort - by developing new technologies - diminishes natural resources, interferes in the environment, as well as threatens the existence of many species. Nature - the giver - tries to resist peoples' irresponsible actions, while the taker - human being - without any awareness of the consequences, significantly overuses the environmental components. The result of the conflict is the environmental crisis manifesting itself in mutually excluding both parties' interests. The extremely anthropocentric point of view presumes unidirectional relations between human being and nature. A breakthrough, realized by alteration of the human value - system that would include unanimous relations with nature, is inevitable in order to prevent the irreversible changes.

Odpady stanowią problem w skali lokalnej i globalnej. Ich masa jest niemalże równa masie produkowanych przez człowieka towarów. Rośnie również ich różnorodność. W pracy wykorzystano metody studiów literaturowych oraz dokumentacyjną. Wskazano na niebezpieczeństwo pozbywania się odpadów problematycznych w strumieniu odpadów komunalnych. Bogaty materiał faktograficzny wykazał, że problem braku kultury ekologicznej dotyczy nie tylko Polaków, ale także społeczeństw innych krajów. Zaśmiecone ulice, skwery, parkingi, przystanki to powszechny widok dosłownie wszędzie. Jak temu zaradzić? Sposobem najprostszym, a jednocześnie najtrudniejszym, jest edukacja ekologiczna społeczeństwa. Do wszystkich grup wiekowych kierowane są kampanie edukacyjne dotyczące zasad segregacji odpadów, lokalizacji punktów selektywnej zbiórki odpadów, problematyki odpadów niebezpiecznych. Najwyższy czas wyzbyć się cech ignorancji ekologicznej. Nie czyńmy Ziemi tego, co nam jest niemiłe.
Waste is a problem on a local and global scale. Their mass is almost equal to the mass of man-made goods. Their diversity is also growing. The work uses literature and documentary methods. The danger of getting rid of problematic waste in the municipal waste stream was pointed out. Rich factographic material has shown that the problem of the lack of ecological culture applies not only to Poles, but also the societies of other countries. Littered streets, squares, parking lots, stops are a common sight everywhere. How do we fix this? The ecological education of society is the most simple and the most difficult method. Educational campaigns concerning the rules of waste segregation, location of selective waste collection points, and hazardous waste issues are addressed to all age groups. It’s time to get rid of the features of ecological ignorance. Do not let us do the Earth, what is unpleasant to us.

The aim of this research was to evaluate the educational offers of agrotourist farms in the Siedlce region, the research was conducted on the grounds of interviews with the farm owners and information provided by Mazowiecki Ośrodek Doradztwa Rolnieczego “Mazowsze - agrotourism 2005/2006”.The results confirm the assumption that agrotourist farms carry on an informal environmental education for their customers, but there are possibilities for improvement of this educational activity, the farm owners need appropriate preparation to fulfill the role of guides and teachers.

In 2015, the first high-rank document on ecology in the history of the Catholic Church was published – the encyclical of Pope Francis Laudato siʼ. In it, the Pope calls for care for the “common home” – the Earth. In response to the appeal of Pope Francis, various organizations undertake activities to spread knowledge about ecology – one of them is Caritas Polska. The paper presents the results of research on the following research problems: 1. Does the Catholic organization Caritas Polska undertake projects in the field of environmental education and promotion of attitudes of respect for natural resources in the spirit of the Laudato siʼ encyclical, and if so, what kind of activities are they? 2. If Caritas Polska conducts activities in the field of environmental education, what is the public perception of these activities? As part of the own research, in order to obtain answers to the proposed research problems, a literature query on the subject was made (in terms of approximating the definition of environmental education and its essence), as well as a review of websites and profiles in Caritas Polskaʼs social media. The results of the survey on the reception of Caritas Polskaʼs activities in the context of ecology in society were also analyzed.

Among the contemporary dilemmas connected with the upbringing, the issue of responsibility for oneself, for others and for the environment in which we live is particularly important, therefore, upbringing cannot be separated from life. It can be interpreted as the entirety of human actions aimed at shaping a human being for responsible fulfillment of roles in family and society. The contemporary generation has a vital task to perform. It should try to remedy the surrounding reality, the change of habits and attitudes of the next generation depends on the educators’ fresh outlook on the upbringing , the previous educational system did not meet the hope s pinned on it, and related to developing an ecological awareness. Only education enables bringing the relationships existing in the environment closer. Schools initiate many actions in the field of environmental education. Sadly, the commitment of schools varies greatly and is determined by the activity level of the individual teachers, who are not responsible for the implementation of the environmental topics, the lack of supervision over the introduction of questions from this field and the lack of a person responsible, delay education and upbringing for the eco-development. It is the hands of the young generation that taking up actions rests in; actions which are not harmful and can even save the closest environment, the role of upbringing in this scope cannot be overestimated.

People usually associate the protection of waters with the issue of sewage treatment and with the deployment of new technologies which reduce the consumption of water and waste dumping, while the impact of the society's environmental awareness and of the environmental management upon the effectiveness of water protection generally remains underestimated. Slovakia is located in the catchment area of two seas: the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea; river springs and river upper sections are located on its territory. Therefore, the country attaches great importance to the protection of waters. This, supported with the belief that one of the prerequisites of water protection is proper environmental management, has encouraged the authors of this study to tackle the issue mentioned in the topic. They believe that such management requires qualified personnel to be prepared beforehand. The authors present the recent development of environmental education at Slovakian Universities, mainly at the faculty of mechanical engineering, from the implementation of the first environmentally- oriented subjects to the establishment of an independent department. They describe the contemporary state of education in environmental management and audit scheme (EMAS). They also outline the perspectives for its further development. At the same time, they specify the profile of graduates and the educational plans for particular types, forms and branches of study, as well as the personal and laboratory equipment for the scientific and support of the pedagogical process.
Ochrona wód kojarzy się zwykle z problemem oczyszczania ścieków oraz zastosowaniem w przemyśle nowych technologii ograniczających zużycie wody i zrzuty ścieków. Wpływ świadomości ekologicznej społeczeństwa i sposobu zarządzania środowiskiem na skuteczność ochrony zasobów wodnych nie są na ogół doceniane. Słowacja, leżąc w zlewisku dwóch mórz – Czarnego i Bałtyckiego – dużą wagę przywiązuje do ochrony wód. Na jej terenie znajdują się źródła oraz górne odcinki rzek. Do podjęcia tematu skłoniło autorów przekonanie, że jednym z podstawowych warunków ochrony wód jest właściwe zarządzania środowiskiem, co z kolei niesie za sobą konieczność przygotowania wykwalifikowanych kadr. Autorzy prezentują najnowszą historię edukacji ekologicznej na uniwersytetach słowackich – głównie w katedrze mechaniki – od wprowadzenia pierwszych przedmiotów o profilu ekologicznym do założenia niezależnego wydziału. Opisują oni obecny stan edukacji w dziedzinie systemu zarządzania środowiskiem i audytu środowiskowego (EMAS). Kreślą oni także perspektywy przyszłego rozwoju. Ponadto określają profil absolwentów oraz plany edukacyjne dla poszczególnych rodzajów, form i działów studiów, jak też sprzęt laboratoryjny wspomagający proces pedagogiczny.

Opis:

Human ecology is a science of mutual relations between human population and natural habitat. It uses complex approach to research many aspects of human life, especially human dynamic relations with the closest environment: family, home, nature and local community, and creating healthy environment for everyday life. There is a new challenge for pedagogy, i.e. forming human ecological awareness defined as knowledge of environment. There is also an issue of competencies and active practices for environmental protection. Ecological pedagogy, in its assumptions, does not support the idea of anthropocentrism conceived as human being’s dominance over nature; its idea is education for coexistence and human protection of nature in order to maintain it for next generations and achieve sustainable development. The aim of this article is to draw attention to the level of ecological awareness of the society, including teachers, as well as specific features of education for sustainable development as social practices.
Wzajemne oddziaływanie organizmów na siebie i środowisko przyrodnicze jest domeną badań ekologii. Dbałość o środowisko jest obowiązkiem każdego człowieka, tak jak troska o zdrowie, dom, własną rodzinę i innych ludzi. W życiu społecznym jednak nie zawsze tak się dzieje, a przyczyny tego są bardzo różnorodne. Przed pedagogiką stoi poważne wyzwanie prowadzenia badań świadomości ekologicznej obywateli oraz edukacja na rzecz zrównoważonego rozwoju (ZR). Zagadnienie to znalazło miejsce w Konstytucji RP, w aktach prawnych oraz w europejskich strategiach ZR. Artykuł przedstawia historię procesu ZR oraz analizę badań świadomości ekologicznej nauczycieli przeprowadzonych przed i po zakończeniu Dekady Edukacji dla ZR ogłoszonej przez ONZ na lata 2005–2014. Wyniki badań wskazują na potrzebę prowadzenia permanentnej edukacji na rzecz ZR nie tylko wśród nauczycieli, ale i całego społeczeństwa. Autorka artykułu jest biologiem i pedagogiem, od wielu lat zajmuje się prowadzeniem edukacji ekologicznej nauczycieli i studentów.

W okresie znacznego zanieczyszczenia środowiska oraz nadmiernego i nieracjonalnego wykorzystania nieodnawialnych surowców gospodarka cyrkularna, nazywana zamiennie gospodarką o obiegu zamkniętym, jest szansą dla obecnych i przyszłych pokoleń. Aby możliwe było przejście z gospodarki linearnej na gospodarkę cyrkularną, muszą być spełnione dwa warunki. Pierwszy dotyczy odpowiedniej produkcji, drugi odpowiedniej konsumpcji. Konsumenci oraz producenci muszą traktować odpady jako surowce, które można zawrócić do obiegu. Aby zmienić podejście społeczeństwa w tej kwestii, należy zintensyfikować oraz dopasować edukację ekologiczną do aktualnych potrzeb. Dostosowując metody edukacji, należy zbadać najpierw poziom świadomości ekologicznej społeczeństwa i zastanowić się, na jakie aspekty zwrócić szczególną uwagę. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych w dwóch grupach: młodzieży oraz dorosłych. Ankietowanie dotyczyło zachowań prośrodowiskowych oraz wiedzy o odpadach. Na podstawie przeanalizowanych odpowiedzi można stwierdzić, że świadomość ekologiczna w dwóch badanych grupach jest na różnych poziomach.
In the times of substantial pollution of the environment and excessive and irrational utilization of the fossil fuels the circular economy is the chance for better tomorrow for current and future generations. To make the change from the linear economy to the circular economy possible, two crucial conditions have to be implemented. One of them is for appropriate production, the second for proper consumption. Consumers have to treat the waste as a raw materials that can be re-used returning to the circulation. To change the approach of the society regarding this problem it is crucial to intensify and adjust ecological education to our needs. Prior to adjusting the methods of education it is important to examine the level of ecological awareness of the society and determine the missing aspects. In this article we present the results of surveys conducted on two age groups: teenagers and adults. The survey concerned about pro environmental behaviour and overall knowledge about waste. Given the results, it can be concluded that there are major differences in the knowledge between two examined age groups.

Opis:

Raising and developing ecological awareness is a great challenge to modern societies in many countries. This article presents examples of ecological education at Polish schools. Ecological education at the beginning of the 21st century plays an important role in the education of young generations. It depends on education if we encourage a young person to choose the lifestyle which will be environment-friendly, or not. The raising and developing of ecological awareness is therefore a great challenge for many teachers. School ecological education aims at non-conflict development of contacts between children or youth and the natural environment. Direct relationship with nature allows children to enrich their knowledge, develop skills and act in ecological categories. The main objective of modern school is education ofa person who is not only creative, being able to use the acquired knowledge, think independently and act efficiently in different problem situations, but is also able to think long-term, foreseeing the effects and consequences of taken actions for which he or she will be held responsible. A large amount of subjects of school teaching in widely understood ecological education and great masses of young people nowadays constitute a big chance for a success in the action ensuring their effectiveness.

The article refers to the area of education for security, especially education for ecological security, ecological education. The aim of the article is to try to answer the question whether the legal and educational system in Poland in the field of ecological education is consistent and whether it works in practice. Both law and formal and informal education are determinants of human awareness in the field of ecology and environmental protection. The article attempts to demonstrate that ecological education in the core curriculum is implemented in accordance with the principles of eco-development. The article discusses a wide spectrum of methods and tools that can be used in education for security, education for ecological security. In addition, the results of the research carried out at the request of the Ministry of the Environment and the level of awareness and ecological behavior of Polish residents were presented. The study was divided into several areas in terms of the specificity of the problem addressed: the greatest challenges for Poland and environmental problems, natural environment and its protection, air quality, waste management, climate change. The comparative and descriptive method was used in the work, because it is the most adequate to present the topic taken. It allows an exhaustive explanation of individual issues. It also involves the possibility of drawing specific conclusions and standardizing the text.
Artykuł nawiązuje do obszaru edukacji w zakresie bezpieczeństwa, w szczególności edukacji w zakresie bezpieczeństwa ekologicznego, edukacji ekologicznej. Celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy system prawny i edukacyjny w Polsce w zakresie edukacji ekologicznej jest spójny i czy wytyczne w podstawie programowej zawierają elementy zgodne z zasadami zrównoważonego rozwoju. Zarówno prawo, edukacja formalna i nieformalna są determinantami ludzkiej świadomości w dziedzinie ekologii i ochrony środowiska. W artykule podjęto próbę wykazania, że edukacja ekologiczna w podstawie programowej jest realizowana zgodnie z zasadami ekorozwoju. Ponadto omówiono szerokie spektrum metod i narzędzi, które można wykorzystać w edukacji dla bezpieczeństwa, edukacji dla bezpieczeństwa ekologicznego. Przedstawione zostały wyniki badań przeprowadzonych na zlecenie Ministerstwa Środowiska oraz poziom świadomości i zachowań ekologicznych mieszkańców Polski. Badanie zostało podzielone na kilka obszarów ze względu na specyfikę omawianego problemu: największe wyzwania dla Polski i problemy środowiskowe, środowisko naturalne i jego ochrona, jakość powietrza, gospodarka odpadami, zmiany klimatu. W pracy wykorzystano metodę porównawczą i opisową. Umożliwia ona wyczerpujące wyjaśnienie podjętych zagadnień, pozwala ustalić wnioski oraz ujednolicić tekst.

Living on Earth in the 21st century requires determination due to its diversity and a multitude of propositions and values. So far, a large group of people has followed a consumer lifestyle, which often contributed to environmental degradation. The power of anthropopression (i.e. man's negative impact on nature) has caused many problems related to climate change, anomalies in the world of animals and plants, but also in the organization of urban and rural life. Every person living in a certain space should strive to follow the rules that will allow him to meet his developmental needs in the following dimensions: educational, professional, social, and, above all, existential. Living in a polluted environment makes it impossible to breathe deeply, while the poor quality of water and soil also prevents us from satisfying our thirst and hunger. The aim of the article is to present the concept of a smart and sustainable city, as life in cities should be reorganized to the level consistent with the Strategy developed by the United Nations. This publication has been divided into several parts. First, basic information on sustainable development is presented due to the necessity of saving a living society in the 21st century before the planet's destruction. The next part of the article introduces the concept of environmental education and its effectiveness in pedagogical terms to indicate that this area of knowledge requires constant improvement and deepening. Then, forms of social participation are introduced as a manifestation of social capital building. After presenting the effects of cooperation, as part of research findings (qualitative research), at the end of the article, the reader has a chance to reflect on the effectiveness of his current activities for maintaining the possibility of living in a repaired natural environment. The article covers issues related to sociology and pedagogy to demonstrate the interdisciplinary nature of the above sciences combined with the field of environmental protection.

Wydana ostatnio encyklika papieża Franciszka Laudato si’ poświęcona trosce o wspólny dom ludzkości, przypomina, że edukacja ekologiczna jest kluczową sprawą, aby ludzie stali się odpowiedzialnymi włodarzami planety. Papież mówi także o całej gamie środowisk, w których wychowuje się do ekologicznego obywatelstwa: szkoły, rodziny, media, katecheza, domy formacji religijnej itp. Edukacja w kierunku ekologicznego obywatelstwa jest potrzebą chwili w tym kluczowym momencie zagrożenia planety.
Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ recent encyclical on care for our common home, reminds us that ecological education is vital to becoming more responsible stewards of our home planet. In the face of the contemporary ecological crisis, we stand in need of a deep personal transformation and a radical renewal of our life-styles. Here the role of education is paramount. Pope Francis calls for an ecological education capable of establishing a new covenant between humanity and the natural world. According to the Pope, we need a holistic education that can re-establish harmony with nature, our fellow human beings and the Transcendent. The Pope also speaks of the variety of settings for education to ecological citizenship: schools, families, media, catechesis, houses of religious formation, etc. Education towards ecological citizenship is the need of the hour in this crucial moment of planetary emergency.

Należy podkreślić, że edukacja ekologiczna będzie spełniać zadania do jakich została powołana wówczas, jeśli będzie ona obejmować każdy zakres i wszystkie poziomy edukacji formalnej i nieformalnej. Powinna mieć przede wszystkim charakter interdyscyplinarny oraz międzygeneracyjny.
Knowledge is the basis of shaping new social awareness that includes ecological and sustainable development awareness. Acquiring, processing and using knowledge in different undertakings is at the core of all actions performed by any human being. There is a necessity of constant education of children, young people and adults. The actions should be conducted by appropriately prepared teachers and be included in a well prepared system of schools and non-governmental organizations working together. One should emphasize that the goals of ecological education can be achieved only if it covers all aspects of formal and informal education. And above all it should have interdisciplinary and intergenerational character.

This article concerns widely perceived ecological education being provided among country youth by People’s Universities, their homeland is Denmark and M. F. S. Grundvig is concerned to be their father. He observed English educational system and the way of education with the usage of boarding schools and then he transmitted it to Denmark, where at the end of the 18th c. and at the beginning of the 19th century the role of peasants, who reached for power and had their own farms, increased, therefore, there was a necessity to create an integrated educational system for those people. Thiss way of educating was then carried to Poland by Ignacy Solarz and his wife Zofia Solarzowa - that took place in the mid-20th century. A special tribute of these educational institutions was reaching those country groups of people who were hungry for knowledge and social advance. People’s Universities had and have ecological education established in their educational programme. However, this education concerns integrated, harmonic and balanced development of the human being, since, if ecology means the knowledge about the environment, it is the human being that should be the most important, that should be the subject.In this system of educating one is not only concerned in gaining the knowledge, but also in ability to pass the gained knowledge, expressing one’s opinions, ability to make relations with people and with the world. This system is about the most integrated development of a student’s personality, the ecological education must not limit itself just to care about the nature, but it should also take into consideration the human’s psychology, environment in which one was brought up and also the values with which one was fed. That is why this widely taken ecology should not omit religious, cultural and patriotic values. And People’s Universities draw their attention to this kind of values.

Opis:

Degradacja środowiska naturalnego oraz niekorzystne dla zdrowia trendy życia współczesnego społeczeństwa; związane z ograniczeniem aktywności ruchowej; stawiają nowe wymagania przed organizatorami edukacji przedszkolnej. Dotyczą one przede wszystkim rozwijania świadomości ekologicznej i zdrowotnej wśród młodego pokolenia. Tradycyjne przedszkola uwzględniają owe zagadnienia w realizowanych programach nauczania; niemniej nie rozwiązują one problemów zdrowotnych; takich jak np. wady postawy; wzroku; słabo rozwinięte kompetencje komunikacyjne; poczucie alienacji. W świetle zarysowanych potrzeb propozycją godną uwagi jest koncepcja przedszkoli leśnych; rozwijająca się bujnie w krajach Europu Zachodniej i nie tylko. Dotarła ona także do Polski. W artykule przedstawiono podstawy filozoficzno-dydaktyczne przedszkoli leśnych i ich rozwój na świecie i w Polsce.
The degradation of the environment, and also the trend in contemporary lifestyle adverse from the point of view of society and connected with restricting physical activity, result in new requirements faced by the organisers of pre-school education. These requirements are relevant, first and foremost, to the development of environmental and health awareness amongst the young generation. Traditional nursery schools take under consideration the above-mentioned issues while drawing up and implementing their curricula, nevertheless, those curricula fail to solve the problems of health, such as, for instance, posture defects, vision defects, a low level of the development of communication competences, and the feeling of alienation. In the light of the outlined needs, the conception of forest nursery schools, which is dynamically developing in the countries of Western Europe, but not only there, is a proposal worth considering. This conception has reached Poland as well. In this article, the outline of the history, the philosophical-didactic foundations of forest nursery schools, together with the development of them all over the world and in Poland, are presented.

In the article, the author is trying to find quintessential causes for the said errors, the article touches on the difficult problematic issues from the borderline of various areas of study relating to learning about the environment, the primary concept of the author is the attempt to undertake a holistic approach to the problem of natural science education. M s approach is to guarantee a better understanding of the environment. It is also to impact the launch of a new quality of its management and solve the growing number of critical situations in the environment and by the same, the proper shaping and implementation of the sustainable environment concept. In his presentation, the author backs his arguments with well known views of the following philosophers: Forbes, Smuts, Tansley, Haeckel, Birge as well as with theories from the borderline of ecology and philosophy such as: the development theory, integration levels and synergism.

Artykuł przedstawia wybrane elementy eko - filozofii Henryka Skolimowskiego, ze zwróceniem szczególnej uwagi na etykę ekologiczną i wychowanie ekologiczne. Podstawową regułą moralną jest tzw. imperatyw ekologiczny, który jest spoczywającym na człowieku obowiązkiem aktywnego i rozumnego włączenia się w ochronę środowiska naturalnego. Człowiek bowiem jest moralnie odpowiedzialny za przyrodę. Odpowiednie wychowanie, według Skolimowskiego, powinno zapełniać współczesną pustkę aksjologiczną wskazując młodym ludziom wartości zmierzające do współdziałania z innymi ludźmi m.in.zdolność do empatii (współodczuwania) z drugim człowiekiem.
The article presents selected elements of eco-philosophy by Henryk Skolimowski with a particular attention paid to ecological ethic and ecological education. The basic moral rule is so - called ecological imperative which is understood as a human obligation to anactive and wise contribution to natural environment protection. Human beings are morally responsible for nature. Proper up bringing, according to Henryk Skolimowski, should fill the contemporary axiological void by showing young people values. The values are those which teach co-operation among people, for instance, the ability to empathy towards other people.
