    Opis:
    What should be considered the central problem of linguaecology is the issue of protection of language quality (its various manners of existence: language use, system as well as individual and collective linguistic awareness) against destructive human impact, in particular culture, and protection of human health (individuals and human communities) against harmful language. The ecological nature of linguistic communication is determined not only by its axiological (emotional and moral) dimension but also, and foremost, by the intention not to harm oneself and others. In order to meet the challenges of our times (from climate crisis to hate speech), we need to oppose the view that human beings are selfi sh and aggressive by nature. This view contributes to us becoming like that. However, the true human nature is different: human beings are decent, they are homo cooperans.

    Cognitive ecology as a research tradition in cognitive science: The article presents cognitive ecology as a research tradition in cognitive science, under which studies on embodied cognition and various forms of situated cognition are conducted. At the same time, the basic heuristic of cognitive ecology and its relationship to methodological individualism are identified. The paper includes the history of the concept of “cognitive ecology”, historical approaches preceding this research tradition, as well as an outline of contemporary research related to it. At the end of the article, the role of the ecological heuristic is summarized.

    Zjawiska agresji i przemocy, niezmiennie towarzyszące naszej aktywności komunikacyjnej, przybrały współcześnie jakościowo nową postać – a to za sprawą nowego kształtu naszego zapośredniczonego medialnie świata: za sprawą jego megamedialnego charakteru. Narzędzia teoretyczne transcendentalnej pragmatyki, jako koncepcji fundującej spójny projekt filozofii komunikacji, pozwalają na zdiagnozowanie tych zjawisk jako fundamentalnego zagrożenia dla warunków egzystencji wspólnoty komunikacyjnej. Diagnoza ta – we współbrzmieniu z imperatywami transcendentalno-pragmatycznej etyki współodpowiedzialności – obliguje do bezwzględnego rygoryzmu komunikacyjnego. Nakłada „ekologiczną” wręcz powinność ochrony okaleczanej wspólnoty komunikacyjnej.
    Aggression and violence, which invariably accompany our communication activities, have now assumed a qualitatively new character. This is due to the new shape of our media-mediated world, specifically to its megamedial character. The theoretical tools of transcendental pragmatics, the founding framework of a coherent philosophy-of-communication project, help recognise these phenomena as a fundamental. threat to the very existence of the communication community. Consonant with the imperatives of the transcendental-pragmatic ethics of co-responsibility, this realisation obliges us to the exercise of an absolute communicative rigour. It even generates an “ecological” obligation to protect the mutilated communication community.

    Opis:
    The development of social network sites not only facilitates the acquisition and deepening of knowledge, but also provides the possibility of easily contacting foresters, specialists in natural sciences and nature enthusiasts. In addition, for some years already, internet users have been able to make use of websites run by institutions and participate in nature-related social groups. The purpose of our survey was to evaluate the possibility of using the main fan page of the State Forests and virtual nature groups in Poland and Great Britain to propagate knowledge about nature and forestry. The aim was to verify the recipient groups and explore what benefits users derive from informal forest education as well as to determine how they assess the work of foresters or the reliability of the provided content posted on the portals. Studies have shown that the majority of respondents use portals to gain knowledge and communicate with specialists while social networks are the motivating factor encouraging people to take advantage of recreation in forest areas by collecting mushrooms and herbs. Our results clearly point out the advantages and disadvantages of the State Forests’ fan page and other nature-related social groups. The importance of social networks in the education and communication with the public is steadily increasing. Therefore, social network websites should be refined and accommodate the constantly-changing needs of society as well as allowing members of virtual groups to converse with foresters. The State Forests should support nature-related groups in attracting real enthusiasts. Organizational and substantive support for these groups would allow an increase in ecological awareness and gain of knowledge about forest management directly from practitioners.

    Opis:
    The main purpose of Helena Barbara Balcerek’s article is to present an original project aimed at the amplification of both the language potential (communication competences) and the literary-cultural potential of sixth-grade primary-school students. The project’s method consists in problem-based learning which integrates literary-cultural content-oriented teaching and language education (including rhetoric) with educational and prosocial processes. Reflections yielded by an in-depth analysis and interpretation of texts used in the project as well as discussions concerning the problem of human values and needs lead, as it turned out during the project’s execution, to ecological issues and climate challenges facing the contemporary world. A large group of students have come up with practical ideas as to the use of available resources as means to resolve the climate crisis and to undertake pro-ecological actions.
