The present state of the environment forces us to find any possible allies in the fight against the ecological crisis. It is religions that are new and important allies in this fight. Religions contribute to shaping ecological attitudes in multiple ways. Statistical research shows that a large proportion of the human population is religious, and finds religion an important part of its everyday life. Thus, the involvement of religious leaders in fostering concern for the environment could be a vital factor bringing about changes in people’s attitudes toward the environment. Furthermore, religions are helpful in analyzing the causes of the ecological crisis; they strengthen the case for environmental protection, and engage in environmental projects and lobbying for the environment.

The Article presents postulates of ecological esthetics of nature according to human experience of ecological crisis taking into consideration threat of good mode of a person, who is described by sensory-emotional quality of his environment. According to this approach, ecological esthetics ought to be preceded by esthetics of nature which portrays human attitudes named „delight in nature”. The article presents also reconstruction of „history of esthetical concept of nature” which starts from Plato’s three: truth, good, and beauty. Therefore, paradoxically experience of ecological crisis forces: first – „rehabilitation of esthetics of nature” and second – postulate of „ecological esthetics of nature” as an answer on nowadays need of living in nature and with nature. It seems that in our time we more need nature than whenever before.

The purpose of this article was a review of the concept of ecological spirituality. Prior to this, however, the development of ecophilosophical thought of prof. Skolimowski has been presented. The starting point for Skolimowski’s philosophical thought is the holistic picture of the world (cosmology), which becomes the basis for the formulation of new ethics whose main attitude is reverence for the world and the man immersed in it. It is undoubtedly an original idea, opposing the canons and the paradigms valid in modern science. Skolimowski offers a holistic view of our civilization, the restoration of lost values, and inhibition of unilateral, i.e. materialistic progress. It is amazing how multifaceted Skolimowski’s publications are, ranging from strictly philosophical texts, regarding for instance analytical philosophy, to works concerning religious or social issues. The review of Skolimowski’s eco-theology has been conducted from the perspective of Catholic theology. The concept of God, spirituality, and the random treatment of other religions presented by Skolimowski are unacceptable. In reality, it is an attempt to subordinate religion to the assumptions of his own ecophilosophy.

Opis:
One of the most important problems of the present day is the safety of the existence of a human being and his or her cultural, civilizational and environmental existence. The idea about what should be done in order to guarantee the safe existence of species is the reason for the discussion within the broad circles of those dealing with science and also philosophy, and in particular eco-philosophy. It is eco-philosophy that truly focuses on substantiating the ways of thinking as well as the rules governing the committed and well-thought actions related to the environmental protection. Educational initiatives for sustainable development are open to the influence of eco-philosophy. Therefore, the need to fill educational strategies and programs with the subtle philosophical “matter”, expressed in the form of values and related behavioral norms, opens a significantly large space for eco-philosophers and the eco-philosophy itself. It needs to be emphasized that the relation between the education for sustainable development and the activities aimed at strengthening the structures of the civil society creates additional interest on the part of numerous social entities as regards the philosophical discourse.

The deepening global ecological crisis raises a question about the practical effectiveness of postulates formulated based on the philosophy of sustainable development. In attempting to answer this question, I assumed that the philosophy of sustainable development is a political philosophy, which functions in the sphere of socio-economic life as a fashionable/binding ideology, approved and postulated by the currently dominating political forces and large companies. When I confronted, on the scale of globalised world, the slogans and declarations with political practice and the functioning of the world economy, I came to the conclusion that the current efforts to implement the idea of sustainable development have only slightly contributed to reducing the threat of a global ecological disaster. In fact, they are a kind of ‘smoke screen’ for business and politicians, who in practice continue the existing course of civilisational development aimed at continuous growth of consumption and GDP. This shows that the philosophy of sustainable development is already practically ineffective and is today not able to cope theoretically with the challenges facing humanity in the 21st century.
Pogłębiający się globalny kryzys ekologiczny prowokuje do postawienia pytania o praktyczną skuteczność postulatów formułowanych na gruncie filozofii zrównoważonego rozwoju. Podejmując próbę odpowiedzi na to pytanie, wyszedłem z założenia, że filozofia zrównoważonego rozwoju jest filozofią polityczną, która w sferze życia społeczno-gospodarczego funkcjonuje jako modna/obowiązująca ideologia, aprobowana i postulowana przez dominujące dziś w świecie siły polityczne i wielki biznes. Konfrontując, w skali zglobalizowanej ludzkości, głoszone hasła i deklaracje z praktyką polityczną i funkcjonowaniem światowej gospodarki, doszedłem do wniosku, że dotychczasowe działania zmierzające do realizacji idei zrównoważonego rozwoju w niewielkim tylko stopniu przyczyniły się do zmniejszenia zagrożeń globalną katastrofą ekologiczną. De facto stanowią one swoistą „zasłonę dymną” dla biznesu i polityków, którzy w realnych działaniach kontynuują dotychczasowy, nakierowany na ciągły wzrost konsumpcji i PKB kierunek rozwoju cywilizacyjnego. Ukazuje to, że filozofia zrównoważonego rozwoju jest już praktycznie nieskuteczna, nie jest dziś w stanie teoretycznie sprostać wyzwaniom, przed jakimi staje ludzkość w XXI w.

Żyjemy w czasach cywilizacyjnego przełomu. Ludzka aktywność skierowana na podporządkowanie sobie środowiska naturalnego doprowadziła do jego dewastacji, niosącej katastrofalne skutki dla dalszego trwania ludzkości. Naukowe prognozy, publikowane od października 2018 roku, ukazują realne zagrożenie globalną katastrofą klimatyczną w najbliższych latach jako oczywisty scenariusz w przypadku niepodjęcia skutecznej próby przeciwdziałania zagrożeniu. Powstrzymanie katastrofy staje się coraz trudniejszym zadaniem dla społeczności ludzi obecnie żyjących. Artykuł koncentruje się na zagadnieniu reakcji na wspomniany kryzys w dyskursie filozoficznym. W świetle przeprowadzonej analizy wiele wskazuje na to, że w filozofii współczesnej zagrożenie globalną katastrofą nie wywołuje wyraźnej reakcji jej przedstawicieli. Przeprowadzona analiza zmierza do ukazania przyczyn tego stanu rzeczy.
We live in a time of civilization breakthrough. Human activity aimed at the submission of the natural environment resulted in its devastation with disastrous consequences. Scientific predictions published since October 2018 show the threat of a global climate catastrophe in the coming years as an inevitable scenario unless we counteract it effectively. Preventing the catastrophe is becoming one of the most pressing problems facing the world today. This article examines the ways contemporary philosophy is addressing this issue, arguing that in fact there is no specific philosophical reaction to the climate catastrophe and advancing an explanation of such a striking negligence.

W pierwszym punkcie artykułu określam zaplecze terminologiczne zagadnienia, przede wszystkim definiuję w jaki sposób posługiwać się będę pojęciem ekskluzji (wykluczenia). W drugim punkcie opisuję negatywne znaczenie ekskluzji społecznej ze względów ekologicznych, które wynika z postępującego wyniszczania naturalnych zasobów naszej planety. Trzeci punkt poświęcam czysto pozytywnemu rozumieniu pojęcia ekskluzji ekologicznej ukazując podejmowany przez bioregionalistów postulat wytyczenia przestrzeni, w których przyroda pozostałaby w swym dziewiczym, nienaruszonym stanie. Ostatni punkt dotyczy problemu przeciwdziałania negatywnie rozumianemu wykluczeniu z perspektywy ekologicznej, skupiam się w nim głównie na postulatach nauk humanistycznych zaangażowanych na rzecz ekologii oraz na idei zrównoważonego rozwoju.
In the first point of the article, I define the terminology of the issue, primarily I define how I will use the term exclusion. In the second point, I describe the negative significance of social exclusion for ecological reasons, which occurs due to the progressive destruction of the natural resources of our planet. The third point is devoted to the commonly positive understanding of ecological exclusion which is reflected in the bio-regionalists’ postulate to draw an area of pristine and untouched nature. The last point, concerns counteraction against the negatively understood exclusion from the ecological perspective. I focus here mainly on postulates created in the field of humanities involved in ecology and the idea of sustainable development.

The article presents reflections on the idea of sustainable development from the perspective of Henryk Skolimowski's concept. It presents an analysis of the key assumptions of the Polish philosopher's eco-philosophy and an attempt to combine them with the goals of sustainable development. The considerations oscillate around the following question: Is the concept of Henryk Skolimowski, and especially his postulates of giving the culture a universal pro-ecological character, be reconciled with the global goals of sustainable development included in the Resolution adopted by the General Assembly on September 25, 2015, entitled "We are transforming our world: Agenda for sustainable development 2030"?

W katalogu zagadnień podejmowanych w ramach ekofilozofii (określanej także mianem filozofii ekologicznej) szczególnie doniosłe znaczenie przypisać należy dwóm wypełnianym przez nią zadaniom. Pierwsze zadanie (retrospektywne) zmierza do ukazania tego zespołu uwarunkowań kulturowych, światopoglądowych, filozoficznych, które szczególnie w dobie nowożytnej generowały myślenie utylitarne, pozytywistyczno-technokratyczne. Jego praktyczne konsekwencje okazały się bardzo niebezpieczne dla życia na Ziemi. Drugie zadanie (prospektywne) wnosi swój znaczący wkład w dzieło budowania nowego myślenia o relacjach człowieka ze światem przyrody, uświadamia potrzebę lepszego zrozumienia wspólnoty losów obu tych światów, dotyczy działań, mających na celu projektowanie wizji przyszłości i konstruowanie modelu cywilizacji, zorientowanej na potrzeby ekologiczne. Wyniki dociekań ekofilozofii stanowią niekwestionowany wkład w dzieło budowania podstaw najpierw idei ekorozwoju, a obecnie zrównoważonego rozwoju. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiona została charakterystyka obu wspomnianych zadań. Ponadto przedstawiono argumentację uzasadniającą tezy formułowane przez ekofilozofię oraz wypracowane przez nią założenia, znajdujące się u podstaw skonkretyzowanych działań praktycznych na rzecz rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego, uwzględniającego i respektującego potrzeby i interesy świata przyrodniczego.
In the catalogue of issues undertaken by the eco-philosophical thought, two tasks are of exceptional importance. The first one (retrospective) intends to reveal a set of cultural, ideological and philosophical determinants which, especially in modern epoch, inspired the utilitarian, technocratic, positivist thinking and the consequences of which turned out to be dangerous for life on Earth. The second way of thinking, a prospective one, largely contributes to building a new way to conceive the relations between man and nature. It emphasizes the necessity of becoming aware of global communities of fate. It actively joins in projects aimed at planning the prospects for the future, and building a civilization model focused on ecological needs. The outcome of eco-physiological thinking unquestionably contributed to progressing the ideas of ecodevelopment at first, and after that, of sustainable development. In this article we characterize both tasks completed by ecological philosophy. We show rationales for its arguments and assumptions, suggesting courses of action aimed at sustainable socio-economic developments.

Bezpieczeństwo i poczucie bezpieczeństwa należą do elementarnych, wręcz atawistycznych, egzystencjalnych potrzeb człowieka, zarówno w wymiarze jednostkowym, społeczno-kulturowym, jak i globalnym. Człowiek, będąc niewątpliwie podmiotem bezpieczeństwa, zdolny jest funkcjonować w pełnym spektrum swoich możliwości oraz ewoluować społecznie dopiero wówczas, gdy potrzeby bezpieczeństwa – przedstawione swego czasu na wektorze słynnej piramidy Maslowa – zostaną w pełni zaspokojone. W artykule podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na fundamentalne pytania: Czym właściwie jest poczucie bezpieczeństwa i dlaczego ten stan i proces stanowi tak istotną rolę w życiu człowieka? Jak żyć godnie i (mimo wszystko) bezpiecznie w świecie zdominowanym przez atrofię wartości oraz chwiejnym pod względem aksjologicznym? Kanwę do owych rozważań stanowi koncepcja eko-filozofii Henryka Skolimowskiego.
Security and a sense of security are elementary, even atavistic, existential human needs, both in the individual, socio-cultural and global dimensions. Human as a subject of security, is able to function in the full spectrum of his abilities and to evolve socially only when the security needs – presented on the vector of Maslow's famous pyramid – will be fully satisfied. The article attempts to answer the following fundamental questions: What exactly is a sense of security and why this state and process plays such an important role in human life? How to live with dignity and (in spite of all) safely in the world that is dominated by the atrophy of values and which is axiologically unstable? Opis:
Celem artykułu jest zarysowanie kierunku w edukacji i pedagogice uwzględniającego w coraz szerszym zakresie i w sposób zintegrowany współczesne problemy i wyzwania ekologiczne, społeczne i ekonomiczne, przygotowując jednocześnie młodego człowieka do rozumienia i sprostania wyzwaniom, z jakimi mierzy się dzisiejszy świat. W artykule przywoływane są koncepcje człowieka ekologicznego i kultury ekologicznej, stworzone przez polskiego twórcę filozofii ekologicznej, Henryka Skolimowskiego. Zdaniem autora, stanowią one konstruktywne propozycje w kształtowaniu postaw zaangażowanych ekologicznie w pedagogice zrównoważonego rozwoju. Skuteczne i trwałe osiąganie celów tej koncepcji wymaga metanoi – szerokiej przemiany świadomościowej i mentalnej w kierunku postaw wrażliwych na współczesną problematykę relacji człowiek–środowisko przyrodnicze: partycypacji, empatii, umiarkowania, rewerencji i odpowiedzialności. Dotyczy to również sfery związanej z konsumpcją. Wartości te powinny stać się elementem głębokich kompetencji ekologicznych, tworzących podstawę dla ugruntowanej mentalnie kultury ekologicznej. W jej kształtowaniu kluczową rolę do odegrania ma pedagogika (w tym pedagogika lasu), a przywoływane w artykule idee i podejścia mogą być wykorzystywane w służącej temu praktyce edukacyjnej.
The aim of the article is to outline the direction in education and pedagogy, taking into account, in an integrated manner, contemporary ecological, social and economic problems and challenges; at the same time preparing a young person to understand and face the contemporary challenges of the word. The article refers to the concepts of the Ecological Man and ecological culture created by the Polish creator of the ecological philosophy, Henryk Skolimowski. They may constitute constructive proposals in shaping ecologically engaged attitudes in the pedagogy of sustainable development. Effective and lasting achievement of the goals of sustainability requires metanoia – a broad transformation of consciousness and mind towards attitudes, which are sensitive to the contemporary issues of the Human – Nature relationship: participation, empathy, frugality, reverence and responsibility. This also applies to the consumption processes. These values should become an element of deep ecological competences, forming the basis for a mentally grounded ecological culture. Forest Pedagogy has a key role to play in shaping it, and the ideas mentioned in the article can be used in the educational practice serving this purpose.

Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia stanowiska ekofilozoficzne prezentowane przez Henryka Skolimowskiego, Rogera Scrutona i papieża Franciszka w ich zapatrywaniach na kwestie problematyki ekologicznej. Dotyczy to zarówno diagnozowanych przyczyn współczesnego kryzysu ekologicznego, jak i konstruktywnych propozycji przeciwdziałania jemu poprzez zmianę naszego sposobu myślenia i postawy względem świata. Artykuł rozpoczyna się od zarysowania początków filozofii ekologicznej i jej definiowania jako refleksji światopoglądowej nad relacją człowieka wobec środowiska. Uwagę autora skupia ideowy profil koncepcji ekofilozoficznych, który wyznacza progresywny lub konserwatywny światopogląd stojący u podstaw danej ekofilozofii. Zdaniem autora zieloną filozofię R. Scrutona i koncepcję ekologii integralnej papieża Franciszka można zakwalifikować do ekologicznego konserwatyzmu. Ekofilozofia H. Skolimowskiego pozwala natomiast koncepcyjnie zapośredniczyć zarówno progresywne, jak i konserwatywne propozycje ekofilozoficzne.  Zdaniem autora ważna jest świadomość zarówno różnic, jak i podobieństw różnych ekofilozofii. Wspólnym elementem analizowanych w artykule koncepcji jest znaczenie proekologicznego, przyjaznego środowisku stylu życia dla przeciwdziałania kryzysowi ekologicznemu.
This article presents eco-philosophical approaches and ideas presented by Henryk Skolimowski, Roger Scruton, and Pope Francis, in their views on environmental issues. This applies both to the diagnosed causes of the contemporary ecological crisis and constructive proposals to counteract this crisis, by changing our way of thinking and attitudes towards the world. The article begins with an outline of the beginnings of ecological philosophy as a worldview reflection on the relationship of man to the environment. The author’s attention is focused on the ideological profile of eco-philosophical concepts, which determines the progressive or conservative profile of a given eco-philosophy. In the author’s opinion, the green philosophy of R. Scruton, as well as the concept of integral ecology by Pope Francis, can both be classified as ecological conservatism. The eco-philosophy of H. Skolimowski, on the other hand, makes it possible to mediate both progressive and conservative eco-philosophical proposals. According to the author, it is important to be aware of both the differences and the similarities of various eco-philosophies. The common element of the concepts, analysed in the article, is the importance of an ecological, environmentally friendly lifestyle for counteracting the ecological crisis.
