Opis:
Distributed energy resources (DER) are a combination of distributed generation, energy storage and demand-side measures. DER can be used to help utilities solve problems on the distribution system by supporting voltage, reducing losses, providing backup power, improving local power quality7 and reliability, or deferring distribution system upgrade. They present, however, some important drawbacks such as new protection coordination problems, complicated operating procedures, or intermittent nature of renewable sources. All these issues complicate the analysis of distribution systems with a high penetration of DER devices. Required simulation tools must therefore combine analysis and modelling capabilities for representing the various DER technologies accurately. Since distribution systems were not designed for the inclusion of DER, most distribution software packages were not designed for the analysis of systems with embedded generation either. Present software designed for the study of distribution systems can efficiently cope with unbalanced load-flow and short circuit calculations, load growth studies, or system restoration and contingency analysis. However, they do not deal with transient stability and small signal stability because traditionally there was no generation at distribution level. This situation is changing, software manufacturers are updating and expanding tool capabilities to take into account the new simulation challenges, and new and specialized tools have been developed to cope with problems related to the installation of DER devices. This paper is aimed at reviewing the present status and the future trends of simulation tools for analysis and planning of distribution systems with penetration of DER, including market-oriented analysis and real-time simulation.

Opis:
Distributed lag models are an important tool in modeling dynamic systems in economics. In the analysis of composite forms of such models, the component models are ordered in parallel (with the same independent variable) and/or in series (where the independent variable is also the dependent variable in the preceding model). This paper presents an analysis of certain deterministic properties of composite distributed lag models composed of component distributed lag models arranged in sequence, and their asymptotic properties in particular. The models considered are in discrete form. Even though the paper focuses on deterministic properties of distributed lag models, the derivations are based on analytical tools commonly used in probability theory such as probability distributions and the central limit theorem.

Opis:
Modern, highly concurrent, and large-scale systems require new methods for design, testing, and monitoring. Their dynamics and scale require real-time tools that provide a holistic view of the whole system and the ability to show a more detailed view when needed. Such tools can help identify the causes of unwanted states, which is hardly possible with a static analysis or metrics-based approach. In this paper, a new tool for the analysis of distributed systems in Erlang is presented. It provides the real-time monitoring of system dynamics on diferent levels of abstraction. The tool has been used for analyzing a large-scale urban trafic simulation system running on a cluster of 20 computing nodes.

In this paper, the Maximal Size Matching with Permanent Selection (MSMPS) scheduling algorithm and its performance evaluation, under different traffic models, are described. In this article, computer simulation results under nonuniformly, diagonally and lin-diagonally distributed traffic models are presented. The simulations was performed for different switch sizes: 4×4, 8×8 and 16×16. Results for MSMPS algorithm and for other algorithms well known in the literature are discussed. All results are presented for 16×16 switch size but simulation results are representative for other switch sizes. Mean Time Delay and efficiency were compared and considered. It is shown that our algorithm achieve similar performance results like another algorithms, but it does not need any additional calculations. This information causes that MSMPS algorithm can be easily implemented in hardware.

Session guarantees define consistency properties of replicas in a distributed system from the point of view of a single, migrating client. Consistency is checked by ensuring execution of required operations by servers. Consistency protocols of session gua- rantees usually use version vectors for efficient representation of sets of writes. This paper presents performance evaluation of several consistency protocols of session guarantees that use different forms of version vectors. The evaluation was carried out by means of simu- lation experiments.

This paper presents the application possibilities of the commercially available software tools oriented to the design of distributed measurement system for educational purposes. The network distributed measurement system based on graphical programming environment LabVIEW is shown. It has been designed and applied at the Department of Maritime Telecommunications in Gdynia Maritime University for the tutored and self-education purposes. Students have an opportunity to execute a remote measurement as well as design, carry out and supervise their own projects using the graphical programming environment with ready-made instrument drivers (serial and DAQ boards). The position of the laboratory, consisting of several nodes with access to a computer network, in which the functions of the process and control of measurement have been dispersed is described. The advantages of the implemented components of the LabVIEW programming environment are indicated. The using such tools as the LabVIEW project, shared variables interface with the Shared Variable Engine significantly simplifying the programming of distributed application, which requires various forms of communication and data sharing. The presented distributed system assigned for the didactic laboratory is easily extensible. The application possibilities are virtually unlimited thanks to attaching additional measurement and client nodes.

The article deals with the issue of controlling the autonomous mobile systems. Considered are problems focusing around the use of distributed architecture controllers. In contrary to hierarchical architecture, all layers of distributed controller are operating simultaneously, and have an access to both: the sensors (receptors), as well as to the executing systems (effectors) of controlled autonomous mobile system. Simultaneous operation of all layers of the distributed architecture controller entails arising of so called action selection problem. This problem consists in continuous taking of decisions: which one of the layers, or which layers of controller, at given moment should have an influence on the movement of controlled object. Discussed is the proposal of a new solution of this problem. Presented are results of experiments with the use of mobile robot.

Growing computational power of mobile devices modifies existing approaches to data processing in large-scale sensor networks. Since sensors are no longer limited to simple data acquisition tasks, such networks can be considered complex geodistributed data processing systems. Features and requirements of such systems justify use of Erlang language and technology for programming mobile devices. The technology provides several crucial features, including fault tolerance, message-passing concurrency or hot-code loading. In this paper the problem of software management in Erlang-based distributed systems is discussed. A mechanism for installing and upgrading Erlang applications using operating system package manager is described. A platform for updating software in largescale systems is presented.

Power losses are minimized while the voltage profile is kept at an acceptable level. The method is applied on a system based on an existing grid topology with production and residential load data based on measurements. Different scenarios are chosen to run the algorithm. The obtained optimal location and size prove to depend strongly on the given conditions.

Opis:
The present paper aims at discussing selected syntactic aspects of cognate objects in European Portuguese, along the lines of Distributed Morphology (Haugen, 2009). Cognate objects may be readily discovered in numerous human languages, including European Portuguese (Chovia uma chuva miudinha). It is assumed in papers devoted to their English counterparts that they belong to various subclasses. Indeed, some of them are genuine cognates (to sleep a sleep...) or hyponyms (to dance a jig; Hale & Keyser, 2002). It turns out that in European Portuguese, they can be split into four different categories: (i) genuine cognate objects (chorar um choro...), (ii) similar cognate objects (dançar uma dança) (iii) objects hyponyms (dançar um tango) and (iv) prepositional cognate objects (morrer de uma morte ...). There are, then, significant differences between various classes of cognate objects: whereas the genuine ones call imperatively for a restrictive modifier and a definite article, the remaining ones admit it only optionally. It might be concluded, then, that a lexicalist theory set up along the lines of Hale and Keyser is unable to deal successfully with distributional facts proper to various classes of cognate constructions in European Portuguese. That is why the present study is conducted more in accordance with syntactic principles of Distributed Morphology, with a strong impact of hypotheses put forward by Haugen (2009).
