Given a linear discrete system with initial state x0 and output function yi , we investigate a low dimensional linear system that produces, with a tolerance index ϵ, the same output function when the initial state belongs to a specified set, called ϵ-admissible set, that we characterize by a finite number of inequalities. We also give an algorithm which allows us to determine an ϵ-admissible set.

W pracy rozpatrzono problem sterowalności dodatnich liniowych dwuwymiarowych układów ciągło-dyskretnych. Sformułowano definicje oraz podano warunki konieczne i wystarczające sterowalności do zera oraz względnej sterowalności. Rozważania zilustrowano przykładem.
In the paper the controllability of the linear 2D positive continuous-discrete time systems are considered. The definitions of null controllability and relative controllability are introduced and necessary and sufficient conditions are given. The considerations are illustrated by numerical example.

Opis:
Rozpatrzono problem badania odpornej stabilności liniowego układu hybrydowego ciągło-dyskretnego, którego wielomian charakterystyczny dwóch zmiennych zależy liniowo od niepewnych parametrów. Pokazano, że do badania odpornej stabilności takich układów można stosować twierdzenie krawędziowe, znane z teorii odpornej stabilności rodzin wielomianów charakterystycznych jednej zmiennej. Podano komputerową metodę służącą do sprawdzania warunków tego twierdzenia. Rozważania zilustrowano przykładem.
The problem of robust stability of linear continuous-discrete systems with characteristic polynomial (in two independent variables) linearly dependent on uncertain parameters is considered. It is show that the Edge Theorem known from the theory of robust stability of families of polynomials in one variable can applied to robust stability checking of the systems. Computer methods for checking of the conditions of this theorem are given. The considerations are illustrated by numerical example.

Opis:
Local constrained controllability problems for nonlinear finite-dimensional discrete 1-D and 2-D control systems with constant coefficients are formulated and discussed. Using some mapping theorems taken from nonlinear functional analysis and linear approximation methods, sufficient conditions for constrained controllability in bounded domains are derived and proved. The paper extends the controllability conditions with unconstrained controls given in the literature to cover both 1-D and 2-D nonlinear discrete systems with constrained controls.

We consider a discrete disturbed system given by the difference bilinear equation x^{w}_{i+1} =Ax^{w}_{i} + De_{i} + sum_{j=1}^{q}f^{j}_{i}B_{j}x^{w}_{i}, i geq 0, where w=((e_{i})_{i geq 0}, (f_{i})_{i geq 0}) are disturbances which excite the system in a linear and a bilinear form. We assume that the system is augmented with the output function y^{w}_{i}=Cx^{w}_{i}, i geq 0. Let varepsilon be a tolerance index on the output. The disturbance w is said to be varepsilon-admissible if ||y^{w}_{i}-y_{i}|| leq varepsilon, forall i geq 0, where (y_{i})_{i geq 0} is the output signal associated with the case of an uninfected system. The set of all varepsilon-admissible disturbances is the admissible set {cal W}(varepsilon). The characterization of {cal W}(varepsilon) is investigated and numerical simulations are given.

In this paper a fractional-order backward-difference/sum (FOBD/S) equivalent formulae are considered. From the Gr¨unwald- Letnikov (GL - FOBD) definition formula and its Horner equivalent form one derives the Riemann-Liouville FOBD (RL - FOBD). Also the Caputo and polynomial-like forms are defined. All forms may be useful in real-time calculations (in the evaluation of digital control strategies) due to the reduction of fractional orders. The investigations are illustrated by a numerical example.

In the paper, a stochastic system with many sources of disturbances is considered. These disturbances have distributions belonging to the exponential family with some unknown parameters. Moreover, it is assumed that a control is disturbed too. A horizon of control is a random variable with a known distribution. In the presence of white Gaussian noises at the input and the output of a system Kalman filters provide a minimum-variance state estimate. When part of the measurements can be regarded as noise-free, the order of the filter is reduced. The filter design can be carried out both in the time domain and in the frequency domain. In the case of full-order filters all measurements are corrupted by noise and therefore the design equations are regular. In the presence of noise-free measurements, however, they are not regular so that standard software cannot readily be applied in a time-domain design. In the frequency domain the spectral factorization of the non-regular polynomial matrix equation causes no problems. However, the known proof of optimality of the factorization result requires a regular measurement covariance matrix. This paper presents regular (reduced-order) design equations for the reduced-order discrete-time Kalman filter in the time and in the frequency domains so that standard software is applicable. They also allow to formulate the conditions for the stability of the filter and to prove the optimality of the existing solutions.

This paper proposes a methodology based on system connections to calculate its complexity. Two study cases are proposed: the dining Chinese philosophers’ problem and the distribution center. Both studies are modeled using the theory of Discrete Event Systems and simulations in different contexts were performed in order to measure their complexities. The obtained results present i) the static complexity as a limiting factor for the dynamic complexity, ii) the lowest cost in terms of complexity for each unit of measure of the system performance and iii) the output sensitivity to the input parameters. The associated complexity and performance measures aggregate knowledge about the system.

In the paper, dynamic investigations of multi-mass discrete-continuous systems torsionally deformed are performed taking into account the position-dependent mass moment of inertia of one of rigid bodies. It is assumed that the rigid body representing a motor moves with a variable velocity. An originally nonlinear problem is linearized, and the wave approach leading to solving equations with a retarded argument having variable coefficients is used for the solution. Exemplary numerical calculations are done for a three-mass system.
