The article presents the concepts of a mobile system for measurements of partial discharges controlled by brain waves. In order to describe that, a robot, which takes measurements of partial discharges, has been worked out. The discharges may occur in an isolator of electrical devices such as capacitors and transformers. What is more, a concept of a link between the robot and a human brain is described, in order to ensure a direct communication on the level of the human brain and the robot.

Opis:
The article presents the assumptions, characteristics and description of the implementation of a pilot system for on-line monitoring of partial discharges in heads of the high-voltage cable lines. The main purpose of the implementation was to increase the reliability of cable line heads by equipping them with a system of continuous assessment of technical condition with direct transmission of measurement data and alarms to the SCADA system. In order to achieve the assumed goal, unconventional methods for measuring partial discharges were used, the application of which does not require disconnecting the line from the voltage. The implementation was carried out on an active 110 kV high voltage cable line in the area of activity of one of the Distribution System Operators.

The method of ultra high frequency is being increasingly applied in the power transformer diagnostics. Using the probe (antenna) mounted inside the transformer tank it is possible to detect partial discharges occurring in defects of high–voltage insulation system. Such probes must be designed and optimized on several factors, such as frequency band, directivity, or the geometrical design etc. This paper presents parameters of two types of antennas (discone and microstrip patch) obtained through simulation. Calculations and simulations results will provide basis to comnstruct the prototypes of the antennas, which will eventually find application in the measurement system used for localisation of partial discharges inside power transformers.

The paper presents results of research works whose aim was to determine and indicate characteristics of optical signals emitted by corona discharges occurring in the vicinity of two types of high-voltage (HV) cap insulators. The experimental studies were performed under laboratory conditions using an ultraviolet (UV) camera. Two types of cap insulators were analyzed: one made of glass and the second one made of porcelain. For both considered insulating devices, the influence of supply voltage on the intensity of optical radiation was determined. The obtained results were analyzed and compared. Based on the results, it was stated that both cap insulators indicated similar characteristics but the most significant difference lied in the existence of the punch-through on the glass cap.

Występowanie wyładowań elektrostatycznych prowadzi do powstawania bardzo dużych strat w produkcji lub serwisie w przypadku jego uszkodzenia. W niektórych przypadkach konieczne jest monitorowanie jego występowania w strefie (obszarze) chronionej. W artykule przedstawiono prowadzone prace nad systemem wykrywania wyładowań elektrostatycznych opartym o odbiór i analizę sygnału emisji elektromagnetycznej powstającego w momencie jego wystąpienia. Przedstawiono uzyskane wyniki z badań oraz zrealizowany na ich podstawie układ detekcji wykrywania wyładowań elektrostatycznych.
The occurrence of electrostatic discharge can lead to very large losses in production or service of electronic equipment. In case of special production ESD can even lead to serious accidents. Phenomenon of electrostatic discharge (ESD) is related to such physicochemical processes like friction, grinding, spraying and rapid separation or combining of non-conductive, or well-insulated solid, liquid and/or gas. In some cases it is necessary to monitor continuously the protected zone. This article presents ongoing work on electrostatic discharge detection system based on the collection and analysis of electromagnetic emission signal appearing at the time of ESD occurrence. The paper presents the results of research and realized on the basis of them electrostatic discharge detection system.

The article presents the application of Acoustic Emission (AE) method for detection and registration of partial discharges (PD) generated in medium voltage (MV) cable isolation and MV cable head. The insulation of the high voltage cable is made of a flexible material whose properties are characterised by a high coefficient of attenuation of the acoustic signals. For this reason, the AE method has not been used so far to detect PD in energetic cables. The subjects of the research were the MV cable and the standard T-type cable head. The cable contained defects which were the source of partial discharges. In case of cable head the PD were provoked by thin grounded electrode which was introduced into connector opening. The results of AE measurements are presented in the form of spectrograms. Acoustic Emission was evoked when the applied voltage level reached the value of 7.5 kV for the cable and 4 kV for the cable head. The authors used the acoustic instrumentation of their own design intended for future field use. Obtaining successful results of partial discharges measurements using the acoustic method in the cable insulation makes an original contribution of the presented work.

Kondensatory są powszechnie stosowanymi elementami biernymi w układach i urządzeniach elektronicznych, elektrotechnicznych oraz energetycznych. Stąd, istotnym jest, aby koszty produkcji były możliwie jak najniższe równocześnie przy zachowaniu ich wysokiej niezawodności. W pracy przedstawiono problemy napotykane podczas wytwarzania oraz testowania kondensatorów produkowanych na bazie folii polipropylenowych metalizowanych. Szczegółowo opisano zjawiska zachodzące w produkowanych kondensatorach, aby wskazać na potencjalne przyczyny powstawania ich wad, prowadzących do ewentualnych uszkodzeń.
Capacitors are ubiquitous passive elements in electronics, electrotechnics and energetics. Therefore, it is important to reduce their fabrication costs while maintaining their high quality. This paper presents problems experienced during production of the foil-based capacitors. The detailed description of various phenomena in the capacitor structures are presented to point at reasons of their possible damage. The equivalent circuits of the capacitor are presented and their elements are applied to determine the capacitor quality. The main reasons of the capacitor failure result from poor quality contacts between the wound foils and the metalized layer, too low dielectric resistance isolation or voids within the capacitor structure. It has to be underlined that monitoring changes of capacitance and dielectric loss after long-term excessive charging and discharging at elevated temperature do not exclude all the samples that would collapse. Therefore, it is suggested to monitor partial discharges phenomena that would give more information about voids within the wound foils. The authors suppose that these voids can plausibly lead to the capacitor damage.

The research deals with the combined approach to boost the reliability of hydrological estimates based on a series of observations being supported by spatial data. In particular, the application of various theoretical curves of probability distribution or situations that may occur at submountain sections of rivers (for example, alluvium accumulation or river bed erosion) is considered. Because of the obsolete cadastral data on the riverbeds and catchments, the necessity of the use of remote sensing is substantiated. Assessment of the dynamics of changes in the river cross-section profiles allows making conclusions concerning the direction of the channel deformations – deepening and straitening the river channels or increasing their cross dimensions. This information may complement the assessment of flood protection of the territories.

Opis:
Niezawodność pracy linii kablowych średniego napięcia jest jednym z czynników decydujących o poziomie niezawodności dostaw energii elektrycznej. Dla oceny stanu technicznego linii stosowane są różne metody badań, m.in. wykonywane są próby napięciowe oraz pomiary wyładowań niezupełnych. Ze względu na duże wartości pojemności elektrycznej linii kablowych w próbach stosowane są napięcia o obniżonej częstotliwości lub napięcia specjalne (np. oscylacyjne). Artykuł przedstawia problemy z tym związane - wpływające na pomiar i lokalizację wyładowań niezupełnych. Wyniki prezentowanych badań, zarówno laboratoryjnych jak i eksploatacyjnych wskazują na zasadność i użyteczność stosowania napięć oscylacyjnych o częstotliwościach zbliżonych do częstotliwości roboczej.
The reliability of medium voltage cable lines is one of the main factors deciding on the reliability level of electrical energy distribution. Failures of cables are mainly caused by local defects in insulating systems which are the sources of partial discharges (PD). Voltage tests and PD measurements are usually applied to assessing the technical condition of cable lines. These tests are performed when using DC, oscillating or low frequency voltages. The basis of the PD measurements in cables is the recording of discharge pulses, determination of their intensity, localization of sources and identification. The characteristic feature of PD measurements in cables is the propagation of pulses from the PD source, their attenuation and reflections. These effects are used for the localization of PD sources by means of time domain reflectometry (Fig. 1). The investigations performed in a laboratory have shown that there is the significant difference between the PD parameters at 50 Hz and those at lower frequencies (Fig. 2). The examples of measurements taken for PD localization by using the OWTS method (Fig. 3) (Oscillating Wave Test System) in new and being in exploitation cables are also presented (Figs. 4, 5, and 6). Taking into account the described results one can state that PD measurements should be taken at frequencies close to the nominal one. The tested OWTS method enables detection of PDs in new and old cables of different types. However, its application to practice is connected with the necessity of selecting the allowed PD levels for new and old cables and accessories. That is why it is recommended to collect the laboratory and exploitation experience.
