    Jednym z fundamentalnych problemów w naukach o ewolucji jest kierunek ewolucji na różnych poziomach organizacji materii. Zgodnie z tradycyjnymi interpretacjami teleologicznymi, ewoluujące układy powinny rozwijać się ku stanowi ostatecznemu – celowi. Jednak w większości przypadków taki cel jest nieokreślony; uczeni go nie znają. Jednak mogą oni odkryć ogólna tendencję lub serię zmian w czasie – teleonomię lub kierunkowość opartą głównie na wewnętrznym wzorcu ewoluującego układu, jednak modyfikowaną także przez oddziaływania z zewnątrz. Procesy teleonomiczne są odpowiedzialne za wszystkie procesy ewolucyjne włączając w to przejścia z jednego układu organizacji do innego.
    One of the fundamental problems in evolutionary sciences is the direction of evolution at different levels of matter organization. According to traditional teleological interpretations, the evolving systems should develop toward a final state—a goal. However, in most cases such a goal is not determinable—scientists do not know it. However, they can reveal a general tendency or a series of changes in time: a teleonomy or a directness based mainly upon an internal pattern of the evolving system although modified also by external influences. Teleonomical processes are responsible for all evolutionary processes including transitions from one level of organization to another.

    According to Art. 9 sec. 2 of Regulation (EC) No.861/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 July 2007 establishing a European Small Claims Procedure, the court or tribunal may allow written evidence from witnesses, experts or parties to be taken. The Regulation applies to cross-border cases (Regulation of 11 July 2007), i.e., cases in which at least one of the parties is domiciled or habitually resident in a Member State other than the Member State of the court or tribunal examining the case (Article 3). On the other hand, the Act amending the Act - Code of Civil Procedure and some other acts of 5 December 2008 added Art. 505 25. Pursuant to § 1 of this provision: The witness shall testify in writing if the court so decides. In this case, the witness shall make an oath by signing the text of the oath. The witness is obliged to submit the text of the testimony to the court within the time limit set by the court. The provisions of art. 165 § 2, art. 274 § 1 and art. 276 shall apply accordingly. As indicated in the justification for the draft of this legal act: Due to the fact that Polish law does not know the written form of testifying by witnesses and hearing the parties (the exception applies to mute and deaf people, cf. Art. 271 § 2 of the Code of Civil Procedure; this provision applies accordingly to hear the parties pursuant to the third sentence of Article 304), it was necessary to introduce appropriate regulations in this respect applicable to the European Small Claims Procedure.

    This study intends to expand the range of studies on the acquisition of pragmatic competence in English as a foreign language, with special attention paid to impoliteness. It examines the development of one component of learner interlanguage pragmatics, i.e., requests, and looks for acquisitional patterns in modifying their impositive force in advanced Polish learners of English. A sample of linguistic written data was collected in a longitudinal study by means of a discourse completion task (DCT). The author seeks evidence of impoliteness by examining alerters, external moves, internal mitigation, together with strategies for expressing the directness of requests. On this basis, conclusions about noticeable impoliteness in the interlanguage pragmatic competence of the participants are drawn.

    Bezpośredniość jest dla pasażerów najistotniejszym postulatem przewozowym. Stąd wynika potrzeba jej badania. W praktyce przeprowadza się go w ramach badań preferencji transportowych. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki takich badań przeprowadzonych w Gdyni w roku 2010 i 2013. Porównanie opinii mieszkańców Gdyni z dwóch tur badań pozwoliło na wiarygodne sformułowanie wniosków. Przedstawiono proces hierarchizacji postulatów przewozowych, wskazano rangę bezpośredniości, określono determinanty wpływające na ocenę bezpośredniości w opinii mieszkańców Gdyni. Zanalizowano także wpływ opinii na temat bezpośredniości na ogólną ocenę transportu zbiorowego dokonywaną przez pasażerów.
    Directness of travel is the most important passengers’ demand. This is why it needs to be studied. In practice, studies are carried out in the research of travel preferences. The article presents the results of studies conducted in Gdynia in 2010 and in 2013. Comparing of opinions of Gdynia’s inhabitants in the two rounds of marketing researches enabled to formulate reliably conclusions. In the article the process of prioritization of travel postulates is presented. There is also indicated the rank of directness, identified determinants affecting the assessment of directness in the opinion of the inhabitants of Gdynia. At the end also analysis of the impact of opinion about directness for the overall rating of public transport carried out by passengers is presented.

    The article touches upon the issue of internal transparency of rehabilitation proceedings and reinvestigations which take place following the annulment of the final judgment. Depending on the rehabilitation prerequisites, it is possible to obtain an acquittal or a judgment equal to an acquittal in three exceptional and appeal modes, i.e. cassation, revision and annulment with regard to persons who experienced repression on the grounds of their involvement in actions aimed at maintaining the independence of the Republic of Poland. The full inclusion of the defendant and their defender in the court proceedings guarantees that the efforts to expunge the defendant’s criminal record will be carried out in accordance with the rules of directness, contradictoriness, equality, orality, the right to defense and broadly understood rule of conscientiousness. This type of procedure upholds the possibility of voluntary participation of the defendant in proceedings aimed at establishing the probability or certainty of the emergence of grounds for employing exceptional appeal modes, while the restrictions, exclusion or expansion of the involvement of the defendant are regulated according to particular exceptions.

    The following article aims at discussing the attributes of the directness of attack and the commensurateness of the means of necessary self-defense, which constitute the most significant, but also the most controversial, prerequisites for the justification of necessary self-defense. The author conducts his study on the basis of selected case law of appeal courts and the Supreme court, dating back four years. In this way, the article allows to delineate the limits of necessary self-defense, as well as present particular cases of exceeding the limits of necessary self-defense.

    Acquisition of pragmatic competence (PC) in a foreign language is a gradual process, which is not trouble-free and effortless even for advanced learners. Since most of the existing research on PC has focused on learners of English, this paper constitutes an attempt to investigate this matter from the perspective of foreign language teachers, with particular attention paid to teachers of English in Poland. Its aim is to investigate whether individual differences influence the acquisition of PC on the basis of data collected during classroom observations and in interviews with teachers. This way the authors endeavor to answer the question whether PC of the teachers depends on their general linguistic ability in English, their educational background and teacher preparation, or the stage of their career development.

    The paper discusses notions of intuition and insight. The most typical features attributed to intuition in the history of philosophy – receptiveness, passivity, immediateness, directness, self-evidence, infallibility, and indubitability – are analyzed. A variability of the notion of intuition is shown, taking as its example the category of insight, central for the epistemology of Bernard J.F. Lonergan (1904–1984), the twentieth-century philosopher locating between phenomenology, Thomism and hermeneutics. Insight is still in some respects a kind of intuition although it is creative, active, mediated, indirect, fallible and open to revision.

    This paper, in memory of professor Tadeusz Nowak, is a return to his deliberations on the influence of the principle of directness on the Polish model of criminal proceedings. The dynamics in the manner of a normative approach to this directive is shown based on the analysis of the changes in the manner of incorporation of the principle of directness in the system of the criminal procedural law, and is further confirmed by a reference to the de lege ferenda proposals of the Criminal Law Codification Committee intended to restrict the scope of application of that principle. The already implemented amendments as well as these just recommended have nevertheless the same limiting goal and explicitely express postulates that have been so far discussed in an abstract way.
    Niniejszy artykuł, poświęcony pamięci Prof. dr hab. Tadeusza Nowaka, stanowi powrót do Jego rozważań o wpływie zasady bezpośredniości na model polskiego procesu karnego. Analiza zmian, jakie nastąpiły w czasie obowiązywania Kodeksu postępowania karnego w sposobie inkorporacji tej zasady do systemu prawa karnego procesowego, a także wskazanie na propozycje de lege ferenda zmierzające do ograniczenia zasady bezpośredniości zgłoszone przez Komisję Kodyfikacyjną Prawa Karnego są podstawą ukazania dynamiki w sposobie normatywnego ujęcia tej dyrektywy postępowania. Zmiany, te już dokonane i te dopiero proponowane, wyrażające się w odmiennym ukształtowaniu postępowania dowodowego przed sądem prowadzą do ograniczenia zasady bezpośredniości w procesie karnym i stawiają pytanie o aktualność dotąd formułowanych postulatów wyrażających tę zasadę w jej ujęciu abstrakcyjnym.

    The article recounts about Jan III Sobieski’s epistles from 1655–1683 which were written to his wife Maria Kazimiera d’Arquien. The division of listing’s model, which was made by Robert Ganszyniec, and the framing of letters’ type according to Stefania Skwarczyńska were taken as a basis in creation of interesting epistolographic convection category typical for Sobieski. Furthermore the text reveals the manner in which Sobieski reaches a directness of the statements as well as the themes which dominate in his letters and the way of taboo implementation. However, the article does not present the letters in detachment with historical and socio-cultural reality. The correspondence of Jan and Maria Sobieski is not only an evidence of great love but also reveals historical events from the participants’ perspective with signs of baroque. The article includes many citations from epistles written by Jan III Sobieski in order to present the reader the discussed issues sufficiently. It also presents the stand of the most accomplished literary historians such as Stefania Skwarczyńska, Alojzy Sajkowski or Leszek Kukulski.
    Artykuł traktuje o epistołach Jana III Sobieskiego do żony Marii Kazimiery d'Arquien z lat 1655-1683. Bazując na podziale modeli listowania dokonanym przez Roberta Ganszyńca oraz koncepcji rodzajów listów Stefanii Skwarczyńskiej, powstała interesująca kategoria konwencji epistolograficznej charakterystyczna wyłącznie dla Sobieskiego. Ponadto tekst ukazuje w jaki sposób Sobieski osiąga bezpośredniość wypowiedzi, jakie tematy dominują w jego listach oraz w jaki sposób realizuje tabu. Artykuł nie przedstawia listów w oderwaniu od realiów historycznych i społeczno-kulturowych. Korespondencja państwa Sobieskich oprócz świadectwa wielkiej miłości ukazuje także wydarzenia historyczne z perspektywy ich uczestników oraz nosi znamiona epoki baroku. By omawiane zagadnienia dostatecznie przedstawić czytelnikowi, artykuł zawiera wiele cytatów z epistoł pisanych przez Jana III Sobieskiego oraz prezentuje stanowiska najznamienitszych historyków literatury takich jak Stefania Skwarczyńska, Alojzy Sajkowski, czy Leszek Kukulski.
