Opis:
This article describes the bases of the acoustic emission analysis to make successful applications in the range of the tribological problems, especially at machinery slide journal bearings. Acoustic emission differs from ultrasonic testing, which actively probes the structure; Acoustic emission listens for emissions from active defects and is very sensitive to defect activity when a structure is loaded beyond its service load. During detecting and analysing the generated acoustic emission we earn information about the behaviour, state or quality of these acoustic emission sources. A lot of different sources are generating acoustic emission (e.g. corrosion processes, fluid friction, cracks, cutting processes). This paper shows the acoustic emission sources, the wave propagation, the mode conversion, the damping, the design of a typical transducer and the whole measurement chain. The piezoelectric disc, the "heart" of a typical acoustic emission transducer, converts the incoming mechanical wave into a corresponding electrical signal. Every transducer has its own characteristic, if this is unknown we can test it with difficult methods e.g. so called reciprocal method. On the end of this paper the signal parameters (burst-count, rise-time, signal-duration, signal peak amplitude, signal energy and root-mean-square) will be discussed.

In this work, the influence of both characteristics of the lens and misalignment of the incident beams on roughness measurement is presented. To investigate how the focal length and diameter affect the degree of correlation between the speckle patterns, a set of experiments with different lenses is performed. On the other hand, the roughness when the beams separated by an amount are non-coincident at the same point on the sample is measured. To conclude the study, the uncertainty of the method is calculated.

In the article an approach to the problem of estimating time to the critical degradation of ship pipelines is considered. Such an assessment would consist of six stages. The fundamental idea is to include to the estimation of time to failure of pipelines such elements like: materials that the pipelines are made, destructive physical phenomena taking place in them and applied means of protection. The result of that evaluation should be mean time to critical degradation of pipeline. The mean time should be given with the measure of the spread like the standard deviation. Another possibility is to express the time to failure in the form of a fuzzy number. This would indicate uncertainty of the estimation.

Opis:
The paper presents a probabilistic method of assessing lifetimes of selected structural components or assemblies of devices/systems affected by destructive processes that occur during aircraft operation. Reliability status of the device is evaluated by means of diagnostic or operational parameters. It is assumed that these devices (systems, assemblies) operate reliably if effects of wear and tear processes described by diagnostic parameters do not exceed boundary conditions/regimes. From the mathematical aspect, the method has been based on difference equations from which, when rearranged, a partial differential equation of the Fokker-Planck type is derived. A density function of the component wearing is a particular solution to this equation. With the density function of the component wearing applied, after suitable rearrangements, one can determine a density function of time for the exceeding the boundary condition. Now, with the density function of time of reaching the boundary condition found, and after rearrangement of this function, one receives dependences that can be applied to determine lifetime of the device given consideration. An example at the end of the paper illustrates how this method can be applied to analyse an airborne sighting system.

W artykule przedstawiono eksploatację układu komunikacji w ujęciu wieloprocesowym. Układ komunikacji łączy stację procesową i stację operatorską (diagnostyczną) rozproszonego systemu sterowania. Scharakteryzowano komunikację pomiędzy komputerem nadrzędnym (master) a sterownikiem (slave). W procesie eksploatacji układu komunikacji wyróżniono trzy współbieżne procesy: proces użytkowania, który prowadzi do osiągnięcia wymaganego efektu użytkowego; proces destrukcyjny prowadzący do utraty zdatności i proces przeciwdestrukcyjny zapobiegający inicjacji i hamujący lub przerywający proces destrukcyjny. Przedstawiono procedury przeciwdestrukcyjne systemu dozorująco-terapeutycznego z uwzględnieniem podprocesów procesu przeciwdestrukcyjnego: osłonowego, interwencyjnego i przeciwawaryjnego.
The operation of a communication system in a multiprocess approach is presented in the article. The communication system connects a process station and an operator station (diagnostic) of a distributed control system. The communication between a host computer (master) and a controller (slave) is briefly characterized. During the operation of the communication system three concurrent processes are differentiated: a usage process leading to a required effect of use; a destructive process causing loss of the fitness and an anti-destructive process preventing or stopping the destructive process. The anti-destructive procedures of supervision and therapeutic system are given, considering sub-processes of the anti-destructive process: protective, intervention and anti-breakdown ones.

Opis:
This paper proposes a comprehensive classification of test methods for the diagnosis of concrete structures. The main focus is on the ranges of suitability of the particular methods and techniques for assessing the durability of structures, depending on the principal degradation mechanisms and their effects on this durability. The survey covers non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, which do not in any way breach the integrity of the tested structures, and semi-destructive testing (SDT) methods requiring material samples to be taken or any other minor breach of structural integrity. An original taxonomy of physical, chemical and biological diagnostic methods, useful in assessment of concrete structures durability, is proposed. Equipment specific for selected advanced testing methods is presented as well as exemplary test results.

The article displays the image of Russia through the eyes of Wat in reference to the mental Russia of Miłosz. It discusses the similarities and differences of both of the views. It indicates the affinities in experiencing the communist Russia by Avant-garde poets – futurists and poets affiliated to “Żagary” magazine. The author proves that Wat’s narration in My Century organizes the dualism of the declining West and the revolutionary East. The article’s author reveals the mistake of mixing the negative data of existence with the political reality. He indicates that this contamination resulted in Wat’s idiosyncrasy towards the Mediterranean culture and expectation for its destruction by the communist revolution. He emphasizes the dual relict nature of revolutionary eschatology. The article shows the reasons for Wat’s ideological enslavement and process of liberating from the influence of communist utopia in the reality of imprisoning Wat and exiling him deep into the empire.

This paper presents a way of determining distribution of limit state exceedence time by a diagnostic parameter which determines accuracy of maintaining zero state. For calculations it was assumed that the diagnostic parameter is deviation from nominal value (zero state). Change of deviation value occurs as a result of destructive processes which occur during service. For estimation of deviation increasing rate in probabilistic sense, was used a difference equation from which, after transformation, Fokker-Planck differential equation was obtained [4, 11]. A particular solution of the equation is deviation increasing rate density function which was used for determining exceedance probability of limit state. The so-determined probability was then used to determine density function of limit state exceedance time, by increasing deviation. Having at disposal the density function of limit state exceedance time one determined service life of a system of maladjustment. In the end, a numerical example based on operational data of selected aircraft [weapon] sights was presented. The elaborated method can be also applied to determining residual life of shipboard devices whose technical state is determined on the basis of analysis of values of diagnostic parameters.

Non-invasive damage monitoring of concrete structures by means of Acoustic Emission (AE) requires multitransducers, multi-channel acquisition, high sampling frequency and long observation time. Owing to its propagation in concrete, the signal from AE reduces its amplitude during the propagation, and, consequently, some events can be lost due to lower signal intensity than the trigger level set on one sensor only. The innovative proposal discussed in the paper consists in the introduction of a Flat Amplifier and Trigger generator block (FAT) in order to generate a logical trigger when the AE is detected by any transducer. Experimental tests confirm the effectiveness of the FAT to acquire all the AE events and to increase the evaluation accuracy of damage indexes.

Composite materials have been developed in recent years. A new generation of structural composite materials for advanced aircraft is Fibre Metal Laminates (FML). They are hybrid composites consisting of alternating thin layers of metal sheets and fiber-reinforced composite material. FMLs have both low weight and good mechanical properties (high damage tolerance: fatigue and impact characteristics, corrosion and fire resistance). Quality control of materials and structures in aircraft is an important issue, also for Fibre Metal Laminates. For FML parts, a 100% non-destructive inspection for internal quality during the manufacturing process is required. In the case of FML composites, the most relevant defects that should be detected by non-destructive testing are porosity and delaminations. In this paper, a number of different non-destructive methods for the inspection of Fibre Metal Laminates were studied. The possibility of quality control of manufactured FML laminates - detection of defects as well as the procedures and processes are presented and discussed.
