Opis:
Designing power transmission systems is a complex and often time-consuming problem. In this task, various computational tools make it possible to speed up the process and verify a great many different solutions before the final one is developed. It is widely possible today to conduct computer simulations of the operation of various devices before the first physical prototype is built. The article presents an example of a dynamic model of power transmission systems, which has been developed to support work aimed at designing new and optimizing existing systems of that type, as well as to help diagnose them by designing diagnostic algorithms sensitive to early stages of damage development. The paper also presents sample results of tests conducted with the model, used at the gear design stage. In the presented model, the main goal is to reproduce the phenomena occurring in gears as well as possible, using numerous experiments in this direction featured in the literature. Many already historical models present different ways of modeling, but they often made significant simplifications, required by the limitations of the nature of computational capabilities. Differences also result from the purpose of the models being developed, and the analysis of these different ways of doing things makes it possible to choose the most appropriate approach.

This paper continues work from part 1 where a high precision estimator for energy efficiency and indoor environment based on artificial neural networks (ANN) was examined. Part 1 demonstrated that creating a precise representation of a mathematical relationship one must evaluate the stability and fitness under randomly changing initial conditions. Now, we extend our requirements for the model to be rapid and precise. At the end of this work we obtain a road map for the design and evaluation of ANN-based estimators of the given performance aspect in a complex interacting environment. This paper also shows that ANN system designed may have a high precision in characterizing the response of the building exposed to variable outdoor climatic conditions. The absolute value of the relative errors, MaxAR, is less than 2%. It proves that monitoring and ANN-based characterization approach can be used for different buildings, including those with the best environmental performance.

Opis:
The provision of a reliable water-supply system is essential for the development and well-being of urban communities. Samdrupjongkhar Thromde, located in Bhutan, has been facing water supply challenges despite the presence of a water treatment plant. The non-perennial nature of the current water source coupled with malfunctions in water pumps has led to acute water shortages in the municipality. To address this issue, this study carried out a feasibility investigation and designed a gravity water supply system by conducting an EPANET (Environment Protection Agency Network Evaluation Tool) analysis. The study involved field visits to identify potential water sources, and a topographic survey using RTK (Real Time Kinematics) technology to determine the optimal pipeline route. The EPANET analysis was then conducted to evaluate the hydraulic performance of the initial route. Based on these findings, a final water pipeline route was selected considering factors such as terrain characteristics, construction feasibility, avoidance of negative water pressure, and minimum encroachment of private land. The results showed that the maximum pressure head within the pipeline system reached 296 m with a maximum water flow velocity of 5 m/s. However, at the outlet, the pressure head decreased to 70 m and the velocity decreased to 2 m/s. Two Break Pressure Tanks (BPT) were strategically placed to achieve this pressure reduction. The chosen pipe materials and their placement ensure the long-term reliability and functionality of the water supply system, while considering maintenance convenience and terrain characteristics.

The environmental state of rice irrigation systems (RIS) is determined by many factors, including natural ones (soil, topographical, hydrogeological, and climatic factors) and technological ones (irrigation norm, design, and parameters of irrigation and drainage networks, etc). The most significant influence on the ecological reclamation state of the RIS carries is effected by its drainage network (DN). The need to maintain a flushing water regime with specific filtration rates to prevent secondary salinization in the Danube Delta’s rice systems is a crucial aspect of managing these agricultural areas. In the saline areas of rice systems located in the Danube Delta, the DN must ensure the maintenance of the flushing water regime with the rates of filtration ranging between 10 to 12 mm/day. This is a prerequisite for preventing secondary salinization of irrigated lands of these rice systems. According to the results of studies, the filtration from the surface of the irrigation checks of the Danube Delta RIS has been established, and its values in the area of the rice check vary significantly. Different intensity of filtration in the area of rice checks causes the difference in mineralization of groundwater and in the content of salts in the soil. This leads to the fact that the same rice check created various natural reclamation conditions and different productivity of cultivated crops.

The Mahalanobis-Taguchi System (MTS) is, today, widely used to define the optimal conditions for the design stage of product development especially, in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) considering the non-linear properties and non-digital data. In this paper, an approach to identify the several interactions in a MTS is proposed. The MTS contains four methods; Mahalanobis-Taguchi (MT) method, Mahalanobis Taguchi Adjoint (MTA) method, Recognition Taguchi (RT) method and Taguchi (T) method. The method to use for the analysis is selected based on the system’s properties. For the case of study used in this research, the unit space is created through the RT method and used to calculate the Mahalanobis-Taguchi distances (MTD). For the method proposed in this paper, the relationships between control factors and MTDs were firstly clarified by MTS (RT), then the same relationships were clarified using a modified design of experiments method, and the several interactions between control factors in MTS (RT) were finally identified by comparing the two relationships. Then effectiveness of the proposed method was evaluated by using a mathematical model.

Opis:
The main goal of estimating models for industrial applications is to guarantee the cheapest system identification. The requirements for the identification experiment should not be allowed to affect product quality under normal operating conditions. This paper deals with ensuring the required liquid levels of the cascade system tanks using the model predictive control (MPC) method. The MPC strategy was extended with the Kalman filter (KF) to predict the system’s succeeding states subject to a reference trajectory in the presence of both process and measurement noise covariances. The main contribution is to use the application-oriented input design to update the parameters of the model during system degradation. This framework delivers the least-costly identification experiment and guarantees high performance of the system with the updated model. The methods presented are evaluated both in the experiments on a real process and in the computer simulations. The results of the robust MPC application for cascade system water levels control are discussed.

The aim of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to reduce by half the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by marine ships by 2050, and its vision of the fastest total decarbonisation in the maritime shipping industry within the present century, calls for implementation with various means of decarbonisation. The IMO approaches the process of decarbonisation in two phases. Firstly, short-term, compact projects are to be considered, next, more complex, medium- and long-term solutions should be aimed at. The preferred arrangements to be applied are photovoltaic systems. Their performance depends to a high degree on the solar incidence angle. In the case of a ship swinging as a result of its course in relation to the wave and incidence direction, the incidence angle undergoes significant periodic changes with a significant effect on the power generated by the PV panels. As a result, the total amount of energy produced by the PV panels diminishes. The paper presents experimental research results obtained on the stand that allowed the investigation of PV panels in simulated marine conditions. Two characteristic positions of a PV panel’s rotation axis in relation to the solar rays’ incidence direction were investigated. It was proved for both variants that the rolling period and solar incidence angle affected the power generated by the PV panel.

The research is focused on developing design theory towards efficient multifunctional facilities for logistics supply chains in the contemporary urban city structures. The development of modern systems based on autonomous transport creates new conditions for their management and generates an emerging need to define dedicated functional service structures. An important element of consideration also taken into account is the scenario for large-size unmanned facilities operation in the multifunctional port facility and its connections to power supply from renewable energy sources. Despite the high degree of complexity, modern transport solutions should be focused on optimizing the distribution time and trans-shipment time within the intermodal supply chain as well as provide ecological logistic solutions. Due to the large number of system components, the study presents a simplified database structure allowing for a comprehensive technological overview within the entire system.

This paper proposes a method to determine the optimal parameters for the drying of soybean using a kinematic vibration dryer. Among the main parameters of the investigated vibroconveyor are heat and mass transfer, physical and mechanical. The paper presents a mathematical model of the dependence of parameters of the soybean drying process of soybean built based on experimental data obtained by organizing an effective experiment plan with a sufficiently large number of factor levels. To determine the rational parameters for drying soybean, it is important to build the most accurate and adequate mathematical model, which will determine the most accurate values of the required parameters. For this purpose, it is recommended to conduct an experiment with as many levels of factors as possible. The article proposes an experiment established on a dedicated balanced orthogonal plan, which is optimal according to the D-efficiency criterion. Based on the experimental data, an adequate mathematical model of the dependence of the drying characteristics of soybean (moisture of the processed material (%), temperature inside the product layer (°С) on the parameters – vibration amplitude (mm), distance from the conveyor surface (mm), radiation power (Wt), weight (g·min-1). Following the analysis of the constructed mathematical model, optimal parameters of the developed vibroconveyor infrared dryer were substantiated. The main characteristics of the vibroconveryor mechanism of interoperational transportation of bulk products in the working area were also determined, and a technical and economic analysis of the developed oscillatory system was conducted.
W pracy zaproponowano metodę wyznaczania optymalnych parametrów suszenia soi za pomocą suszarki z funkcją kinematycznego wzbudzania drgań. Główne parametry badanego urządzenia to wymiana ciepła i masy oraz właściwości fizyczne i mechaniczne. W celu przeprowadzenia badań zbudowano model matematyczny zależności między wskaźnikami procesu suszenia soi na podstawie danych doświadczalnych uzyskanych poprzez zorganizowanie efektywnego schematu doświadczenia z odpowiednio dużą liczbą poziomów czynników. By określić racjonalne parametry suszenia soi należy zbudować jak najdokładniejszy i adekwatny model matematyczny, który wyznaczy najdokładniejsze wartości wymaganych parametrów. W artykule zaproponowano przeprowadzenie eksperymentu na specjalnie skonstruowanym zrównoważonym planie ortogonalnym, optymalnym według kryterium Defektywności. Na podstawie danych eksperymentalnych opracowano odpowiedni model matematyczny zależności charakterystyki suszenia soi (wilgotność przetwarzanego materiału (%), temperatura wewnątrz warstwy produktu (°С) od parametrów - amplitudy drgań (mm), odległości od powierzchni przenośnika taśmowego (mm), mocy promieniowania (Wt), masy (g·min-1). Analiza zaproponowanego modelu matematycznego pozwoliła uzasadnić optymalne parametry opracowanej wibrosuszarki na podczerwień, główne cechy mechanizmu wibracyjno-falowego do transportu produktów sypkich w obszarze roboczym oraz przeprowadzić analizę techniczno-ekonomiczną opracowanego systemu oscylacyjnego.

Road tunnels, although rarely found in the Polish landscape so far, appear more and more often on the map of Poland, constituting an attractive and necessary infrastructure solution. To ensure safe conditions of road tunnel operation, a properly designed tunnel ventilation system is of crucial importance. The article presents an analysis of available solutions for the ventilation systems of road tunnels, with particular emphasis on the process of their design and implementation of tunnel investments in Polish conditions.

Product-Service System (PSS) has been perceived since the 90s as a concept supporting enterprises of various industries in creating a competitive advantage and generating new value for customers by expanding the offer with additional services related to the product. Product-Service System (PSS) draws attention to the life cycle of products and services and the circular economy, which supports sustainable development. All the time, practitioners and theorists report the need to develop new Product-Service System (PSS) for other industries. Until now, a number of practical and methodological aspects related to design remain unresolved. The paper presents issues related to the Product-Service System (PSS) and PSS design. A literature review and gaps in available methods are presented. A conceptual framework for Product-Service System (PSS) design that has been used in the logistics industry is presented. By referring to the design of a selected process from the logistics industry, it was presented how to analyze the process during design and what methods of design support to use. Reference is made to mathematical modeling based on the optimization function and computer modeling with the use of a simulation model. Attention was also paid to the importance of knowledge of the industry and having expert knowledge about the designed processes in the systems. It is also extremely important to have the appropriate data set for a given case. In addition to the general mathematical and computer model, reference was also made to a chosen element of Product-Service System (PSS). The mathematical and simulation model included in the study refer to the process of completing customer orders in a logistics company. It is one of the most laborious and time-consuming processes. The FlexSim simulation environment was used to perform the computer simulation. A total of 15 variants were considered, which differ in terms of the scope of services provided during the process. The scope of services significantly affects the cost, time and profit. The purpose of the constructed model is to find a variant for the adopted data in which the profits will be maximized while maintaining the constraints imposed on the system.

The following paper presents the theoretical foundations and selected practical applications of systems engineering. To begin with, the concept and subject of systems engineering is defined and embedded in the family of systems sciences. It also outlines the systems approach methodology applied in the systems engineering and the strong interdependencies that exist between systems theory and the practice of building systems applications. The matter of presenting selected categories of systems engineering, such as requirements engineering, environmental engineering, safety engineering, medical engineering, genetic engineering, management engineering, financial engineering, software engineering and social engineering was pivotal element of the paper. The paper has a form of a synthesis and an overview and contributes to further discussions within the framework of promoting a universal systems approach in the praxeological disciplines of the different categories of technical and non-technical, tangible and intangible, but always innovative and creative engineering.
W pracy przedstawiono podstawy teoretyczne i wybrane aplikacje praktyczne inżynierii systemowej. Na wstępie zdefiniowano pojęcie i przedmiot inżynierii systemowej, którą osadzono w rodzinie nauk systemowych. Nakreślono też metodologię podejścia systemowego, wykorzystywaną w nurcie inżynierii systemowej i silne współzależności, jakie istnieją między teorią systemową a praktyką budowania aplikacji systemowych. Szczególny wysiłek został skupiony na prezentacji wybranych kategorii inżynierii systemowej, takich jak: inżynieria wymagań, środowiska naturalnego, bezpieczeństwa, medyczna, genetyczna, zarządzania, finansowa, oprogramowania i społeczna. Praca ma charakter syntetyczno-przeglądowy i stanowi przyczynek do dalszych dyskusji w ramach propagowania uniwersalnego podejścia systemowego w nurcie prakseologicznych dyscyplin różnych kategorii inżynierii technicznej i nietechnicznej, materialnej i niematerialnej, ale zawsze innowacyjnej i kreatywnej.

Opis:
In this paper, the design issue of effective damping of electromechanical swings in a medium voltage network with distributed generation by the use of a PSS2A type power system stabiliser is described. This stabiliser was installed in the generating unit with the highest rated power. Time constants of correction blocks, as well as the main gain, were determined by analyzing a single-machine system, generating unit – infinite bus. The time constants were calculated on the basis of the frequency-phase transfer functions both of the electromagnetic moment to the voltage regulator reference voltage and of the generator voltage to the voltage regulator reference voltage, under the assumption of an infinite and real value of the generating unit inertia time constant for various initial generator loads. The main stabiliser gain was calculated by analyzing the position, on the complex plane, of eigenvalues of the state matrix of the single-machine system, linearised around a steady operating point, at the changed value of this gain.

Artykuł zawiera wnioski z analizy formuł: RBD (Research by Design) oraz PBL (Project Based Learning) jako podstawowej metody kształcenia w celu rozpoznania możliwości kształtowania przestrzeni w obszarze opracowania, wykorzystanych w ramach prowadzonych prac naukowo-badawczych. Opisuje rezultaty zastosowania obu metod w przeprowadzonych badaniach nad możliwościami formułowania nowych wskazań do kształtowania systemów przyrodniczych w zdegradowanym środowisku przyrodniczym województwa śląskiego. Badania przeprowadzono w latach 2015-2020 dla miast: Orzesze, Rybnik oraz Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Koncentrowały się one na środowiskowych problemach: integracji obszarów centralnych miast, ciągłości istniejących powiązań przyrodniczych (w tym korytarzy ekologicznych), komunikacyjnych i funkcjonalnych, a także zachowania zasad ładu przestrzennego, zróżnicowania funkcji oraz możliwości przyjmowania nowych funkcji przez obszary zdegradowane.
The article contains conclusions from the analysis of the formulas: RBD (Research by Design) and PBL (Project Based Learning) as the basic method of educating members of the young creative class, used to recognize the possibilities of shaping space in the area of development, used in the course of research and development. Describes the results of applying both methods in the research on the possibilities of formulating new indications for shaping natural systems in the degraded natural environment of the Silesian Voivodeship. The research was carried out in 2015-2020 for the cities of Orzesze, Rybnik and Jastrzębie Zdrój. They focused on environmental problems: integration of central city areas, continuity of the existing natural (including ecological corridors), communication and functional connections, as well as maintaining the principles of spatial order and differentiation of functions, and the possibility of assuming new functions by degraded areas.
