Artykuł stanowi kontynuację rozważań nad podejściem projektowym w zakresie procesu kształcenia i działalności studenckiej na uczelniach wyższych w Polsce. Podjęto w nim próbę identyfikacji i analizy rozwiązań, które stanowią wsparcie w inicjowaniu, organizowaniu i prezentowaniu wyników dyskusji na temat przedsięwzięć realizowanych w środowisku akademickim. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań jakościowych i wskazanych implikacji do dalszych prac w zakresie opracowania założeń innowacji odpowiadającej na zidentyfikowane luki autorzy opracowali model zawierający metody planowania i zarządzania przedsięwzięciami studenckimi, bazujący na powszechnie uznanych standardach zarządzania projektami.
The article is a continuation of considerations on the issue of the project approach in the educational process and student activities at universities in Poland. An attempt was made to identify and analyze solutions that support initiating, organizing, and presenting the results of discussions on undertaken projects in the academic environment. Based on the qualitative research conducted and the indicated implications for further work in the development of assumptions for innovation responding to the identified gaps, the authors developed a model containing methods for planning and managing student projects, based on generally recognized project management standards.

W 2022 roku przeprowadzono badanie na konferencji Warmia Efekt Toastmasters w Olsztynie. Celem badania było określenie motywacji wewnętrznej do nauki przemawiania w powiązaniu z towarzyszącymi jej emocjami w kontekście edukacyjnym ewaluacji. Główny problem badawczy przybrał postać pytania: Jaki jest poziom motywacji wewnętrznej do nauki przemawiania wśród osób obecnych na Warmia Efekt Toastmasters? W postępowaniu badawczym użyto mieszanego schematu badawczego Johna Creswella (2013). Zastosowano kwestionariusz motywacji do nauki Joanny Góźdź (2019) wzorowany na teorii autodeterminacji oraz kwestionariusz ogólnego zdrowia (GHQ 12). Grupa badawcza składała się z ochotników: 16 mężczyzn i 15 kobiet. GHQ pokazał problemy ogólnej kondycji psychicznej na bardzo niskim poziomie. Motywacja zewnętrzna i amotywacja były na tym samym niskim poziomie. Motywacja introjektowana i indentyfikacyjna były na dość wysokim zbliżonym poziomie. Motywacja wewnętrzna była na najwyższym, bardzo wysokim poziomie.
In 2022 conducted a study in the conference Warmia Efekt Toastmasters in Olsztyn. The aim of the research was to identify and describe intrinsic motivation for learning public speaking as well as emotions in the educational context of evaluation. The main research problem took the form of the following question: What is the level of intrinsic motivation to learn to speak among people represented at the Warmia Efekt Toastmasters? In research decided to use in this study John Creswell’s mixed-method design (2013). This project used a scale of motivation developed by Joanna Góźdź (2019) based on self-determination theory and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ 12). The research group consisted of volunteers: 16 men and 15 women. Statistical analysis GHQ shows problems of mental condition at a very low level. External regulation and amotivation are at a low level. ntrojected regulation and identified regulation are at a high level. Intrinsic motivation was at the highest level.

In the field of ocean engineering, the task of spatial hull modelling is one of the most complicated problems in ship design. This study presents a procedure applied as a generative approach to the design problems for the hull geometry of small vessels using elements of concurrent design with multi-criteria optimisation processes. Based upon widely available commercial software, an algorithm for the mathematical formulation of the boundary conditions, the data flow during processing and formulae for the optimisation processes are developed. As an example of the application of this novel approach, the results for the hull design of a sailing yacht are presented.

It has become an active research area for treating low specific gravity (SG) deposits by centrifugal separation due to its high efficiency, low cost and minor environmental impact. Laboratory Knelson Concentrator has shown its potential for processing high density ores on a dry basis. This study investigated the feasibility and the optimum operating conditions when processing a dry low SG feed with a modified Knelson Concentrator. A synthetic mixture of magnetite and quartz with a grade of 1% magnetite was used to mimic a low-density ratio ore. Bowl speed (G), air fluidizing pressure (psi) and solids feed rate (g/min) were chosen as the operating variables. Box-Behnken design was used to design the experiments and response surface method was used for optimization. The effects of each individual factors and their interactions on concentrate grade and magnetite recovery were evaluated. The dry process achieved up to 60 % magnetite recovery with an upgrade ratio of 5. The optimized values for the concentration with the highest recovery and grade of bowl speed, solids feed rate and air fluidizing pressure are 27 G, 200 g/min and 12 psi, respectively.

In this paper I attempt to identify the fundamental properties of the diagram as a form of representation in opposition to purely symbolic representation The author’s intent is to present the characteristics of architectural diagrams as they are and to analyse their role in argumentation, or, more broadly, in various forms of justifying diagrammatic representations. However, these two aspects cannot be fully separated from each other – the distinctive features of diagrams are of course tied with the distinctive properties of cognitive processes associated with them. This discussion will present just how diverse diagrams and types of thinking can be, and the wide range of roles that representations can play in architectural cognition.
W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę wyróżnienia podstawowych własności diagramu jako typu reprezentacji przeciwstawionego reprezentacji czysto symbolicznej. Zamysł autora jest taki, aby przedstawić własności diagramów architektonicznych jako takich i poddać analizie ich rolę w dowodach, czy szerzej, w różnych postaciach uzasadniania reprezentacji diagramowych. Tych dwóch aspektów nie można jednak w pełni oddzielić - charakterystyczne cechy diagramów są oczywiście związane również z charakterystycznymi własnościami procesów poznawczych z nimi związanych. Rozważania ukażą, jak różnorodne mogą być diagramy, typy myślenia oraz role, jakie reprezentacje mogą odgrywać w poznaniu architektonicznym.

Different buried permanent magnet arrangements in rotors are compared based on electrical machines found in literature regarding high-speed capability. An analytical approach is presented to analytically calculate mechanical stresses in the bilateral and central bridge of V arrangements in order to determine the achievable circumferential velocity of a rotor geometry. The mechanical model is coupled to an analytical model which can determine the flux density in the main air gap under consideration of flux leakage within the rotor. The multi-domain model enables the analytical design of high-speed rotors with buried permanent magnets in V-arrangement.

Artykuł stanowi kontynuację rozważań nad zagadnieniem podejścia projektowego w zakresie procesu kształcenia na uczelniach wyższych w Polsce. Podjęto w nim próbę identyfikacji i analizy potrzeb interesariuszy, w tym studentów, nauczycieli akademickich oraz członków uczelnianych organizacji studenckich. W tym celu wyodrębniono: najważniejsze problemy, bariery i trudności wpływające na studentów i ich zaawansowanie w myśleniu projektowym; poziom jakości kształcenia na polskich uczelniach; poziom orientacji studentów na projekty; poziom przedsiębiorczości wśród studentów, absolwentów szkół średnich i zawodowych; ofertę edukacyjną polskich uczelni w zakresie podejścia projektowego; wpływ pandemii COVID-19 na szkolnictwo wyższe. Przeprowadzone badania pozwoliły określić potrzeby interesariuszy w zakresie rozważań nad autorską koncepcją wprowadzoną we wcześniejszym artykule [Radoła i in., 2021]. Na podstawie wniosków z wywiadów wskazano implikacje do dalszych prac badawczych w ujęciu ilościowym i opracowania założeń innowacji odpowiadającej na zidentyfikowane luki.
The article is a continuation of considerations on the issue of the project approach in the field of education at universities in Poland. An attempt was made on it identify and analyze the needs of stakeholders, including students, academic teachers and members of university student organizations. For this purpose, the following have been separated: the most important problems, barriers and difficulties affecting students and their advancement in design thinking; the quality level of education at Polish universities; the level of students’ project orientation; the level of entrepreneurship among students, graduates of high and vocational schools; educational offer of Polish universities in the field of project approach; the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on higher education. The conducted research made it possible to determine the needs of stakeholders in terms of considerations on the author’s concept introduced in an earlier article [Radoła et al., 2021]. On the basis of the conclusions of the interviews indicated implication to for further quantitative research and development of assumptions for innovation responding to the identified gaps.

The article presents the results of the last stage of work on the impact of changes in the roll pass design on the state of residual stresses in railway rails. The discussed stage includes the summary of industrial experiments of rolling 60E1 rails with a length of 120 meters using a modified pass design of roll grooves. The rolling technology has been deeply modified, ranging from the finishing stand, through the pre-finishing stand, to the semi-finishing stand. The rails in this experiment were cooled using standard cooling technology and then straightened using innovative vertical straightener shaped rollers. Residual stresses were tested using the strain gauge method and the hole-drilling strain gauge method by drilling a hole in the rail axis and at a distance of 14 millimetres from its axis. The resulting tensile stresses in the rail foot were reduced to an average level of less than 43% in relation to the requirements of the EN13674-1 standard.

A sailing yacht is a human-centred product, the design of which revolves primarily around the wants and desires of the future owner. In most cases, these preferences are not measurable, such as a personal aesthetic feeling, or a need for comfort, speed, safety etc. The aims of this paper are to demonstrate that these preferences can be classified and represented numerically, and to show that they are correlated with the type of yacht owned. As a case study, the owner’s preferences for deck equipment are considered. These are determined by pairwise comparisons of the importance rankings for features previously defined by yacht owners, following the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method. As a result, a quantitative representation of these preferences is established, and they are shown to be correlated with the type of yacht. The findings of the current study show that the yacht owners’ preferences can be represented numerically, leading to a utilitarian conclusion that concerns the support and even some degree of automation of the design process.

The paper proposes an alternative approach to the dissemination of the mass unit in the context of the new definition of the kilogram. Considering the fact that redefinition allows mass to be directly realized at any value, the paper presents a model of the dissemination of mass which can be used for diferent series in grams, where the measurements are performed in the downward direction, but using 1 g as the reference standard (whose mass value is assumed to be determined after the redefinition using the capacitive or electrostatic techniques). The subdivision method presented (suitable for 1 weights) has as its starting point the approach used by Mihailov-Romanowski for the calibration of series in kilograms which uses an orthogonal system of equations. Thus, according to this method, a solution for obtaining the orthogonality of a system can be the use as defining standard of the ratio between the mass having the highest nominal value in the set and the standard (unit). The results obtained for a set of weights from 10 to 1 g using the subdivision method, in accordance with the Mihailov-Romanowski principle, are validated with those obtained with the multiplication method, where the measurements start from 1 to 10 g, as in the case of the kilogram series. The mass values obtained with both methods are equal, while the estimated uncertainties are slightly diferent, yet insignificant. The results obtained previously for the same sequence of weights using the traditional dissemination method, where the 1 kg standard is used as reference, are also presented in the paper. The results show that only three weights out of six have a mass value insignificantly diferent by 1 × 10-4 mg compared to those obtained with the methods presented in this article, but, in terms of uncertainty, there are some diferences. The way of disseminating the mass unit presented in this article can be extended to other diferent sequences of nominal values such as: (5 . . . 1) g, (20 . . . 1) g, (50 . . . 1) g or (500 . . . 100) g if the reference standard is 100 g.

The Mahalanobis-Taguchi System (MTS) is, today, widely used to define the optimal conditions for the design stage of product development especially, in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) considering the non-linear properties and non-digital data. In this paper, an approach to identify the several interactions in a MTS is proposed. The MTS contains four methods; Mahalanobis-Taguchi (MT) method, Mahalanobis Taguchi Adjoint (MTA) method, Recognition Taguchi (RT) method and Taguchi (T) method. The method to use for the analysis is selected based on the system’s properties. For the case of study used in this research, the unit space is created through the RT method and used to calculate the Mahalanobis-Taguchi distances (MTD). For the method proposed in this paper, the relationships between control factors and MTDs were firstly clarified by MTS (RT), then the same relationships were clarified using a modified design of experiments method, and the several interactions between control factors in MTS (RT) were finally identified by comparing the two relationships. Then effectiveness of the proposed method was evaluated by using a mathematical model.

A tuned mass damper is a kind of vibration damping device which has been widely used in tall buildings, machinery, bridges, aerospace engineering and other fields. In practical engineering applications, due to large deformation caused by large displacement, errors in engineering constructions and the existence of limit devices, the structure and tuned mass dampers inevitably produce some nonlinear characteristics, but these nonlinearities are often ignored. The results of this study confirm that the nonlinearity of the structure and the mass damper should be considered in the process of optimal frequency design, otherwise there will be a large deviation between the design optimal frequency of the mass damper and the actual optimal frequency. In this paper, nonlinear characteristics of the tuned mass damper and the main structure are considered. The first-order differential equations are obtained by using the complex average method, and the nonlinear equations of the tuned mass damper system are derived by using the multi-scale method. On this basis, the parameters are determined. The numerical results show that the error of the approximate solution method is small in the given example. The nonlinear tuned mass damper with nonlinear design exhibits a better control performance.

During the operation of a rotor, various types of vibrations appear in this mechanical system and often limit the performance and endanger the safety of the operation. Therefore, dynamic analysis is essential because precise knowledge of the vibration behaviour is essential to ensure proper operation. This article presents a set of scientific techniques for the modelling and simulation of rotor vibrations. To work out the equations of the vibratory movement of the rotor, we used the energy approach of Lagrange. To achieve this, a model with one blading wheel carried by a shaft supported by two hydrodynamic bearings is chosen basedon the characteristics of the rotor studied (Fan 280 cement draft fan). It is an arduous task to manually ascertain the analytical resolution of the differential equations that characterise the vibratory behaviour of the rotor. The numerical approach employing the finite element method, programmed on the ANSYS software, made it possible to perform the vibration analysis of the rotor. First, the FAN 280 cement draft fan rotor is modelled using SolidWorks 3D software and reverse design using the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) for the design of the fins. Then, the modal characteristics of the fan rotor model were analysed using the finite element analysis (FEA) software ANSYS Workbench. Also, to study the effect of blade wear on critical speeds, the Campbell diagram was obtained. Finally, harmonic analysis was performed to determine the amplitude of the rotor vortex at critical speeds obtained with and without blade wear.

Opis:
The work is devoted to the diagnostics of the stress state of systems that soften the shock load on the vehicle body, the elastic element of the car suspension such as a multi-leaf spring. The construction of a mathematical model taking into account the geometric nonlinearity according to the finite element method theory is considered. Mathematical modelling was carried out to take into account the change in the stiffness matrix of the system when changing its shape. For research, a symmetrical semi-elliptical spring consisting of five leaves is used. All numerous numerical experiments were performed in two computer-aided design (CAD) systems: ANSYS, a heavy multipurpose package and SolidWorks, a middle-level multipurpose package. Computeraided design algorithms have been developed to expand the capabilities of CAD. The analysis of the results obtained allows to conclude that the traditional models of nonlinearity in ANSYS and SolidWorks give approximately the same results, which at the maximum point differ by 20.6% from the data of a full-scale experiment. When using the proposed model, this difference is reduced to 7.95%.
