As yet the extensive academic literature on the rule of King Stanisław August Poniatowski has failed to produce a detailed monograph on the Permanent Council: the first central, collective body with executive power in the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Past studies merely deal with selected aspects of its functions. Yet, the importance of the Council and the role it played in the shaping of the political system of the Polish state in the last years of the 18th century require that this gap is filled. The source materials stored in archival collections provide a broad field for research by historians of the state and law.
W obszernej literaturze naukowej dotyczącej okresu rządów Stanisława Augusta Poniatowskiego nie pojawiła się jak dotąd kompleksowa monografi a poświęcona Radzie Nieustającej – pierwszemu w dziejach Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów centralnemu, kolegialnemu organowi władzy wykonawczej. Dotychczasowe opracowania poruszają jedynie wybrane aspekty jej funkcjonowania. Tymczasem znaczenie Rady i rola, jaką odegrała w kształtowaniu ustroju państwa polskiego w schyłkowych latach XVIII w., wymagają uzupełnienia tej luki, a materiały źródłowe zgromadzone w zbiorach archiwalnych tworzą obszerne pole badawcze dla historyków państwa i prawa.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to evaluate personnel services input aimed at molding the image of the organization. The paper presents the results of a pilot study conducted in June of 2009 on fifty-five workers from three medium-size enterprises from the Podlasie Voivodeship. The opinion of the respondents is that the personnel department's contribution in providing human resource management is generally low, which in turn translates into an unsatisfactory image of the organization. Thus, there is an urgent need for personnel departments to take actions aimed at improving the level of human resource management so as to achieve employee satisfaction while simultaneously working to improve the image of the examined organization.

Negotiation is a type of bilateral communication. It is commonly used in conflict resolution, or to reach an agreement between two parties. The paper examines 200 people working in IT departments in the Silesian Voivodship to gauge their knowledge and awareness of the negotiation process. 101 men and 99 women joined the survey. All respondents were adults. 35.5% of respondents were people aged 18-25, 23% aged 26-30, 14% aged 31-35, 7.5% aged 36-40, 3% aged 41-45, 8% aged 46-50, 4% aged 51-55, and 8% were people over 55 years old. The condition for joining the survey was at least a one-time participation in negotiations to resolve a conflict.

The paper presents the essence of the education for safety. There were analyzed both theoretical issues and curriculum of the education aimed at matters related to widely understood safety in the system of public education as well as system of education in the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. Analysis of the theoretical aspects as well as of the practice proves that education for safety is successful. The society is educated in the necessary scope and therefore protected from a broad range of threats. Officers of the uniformed services are also educated in the scope sufficient for a professional fulfillment of the statutory duties. Such broad scope of safety knowledge allows the society to feel relatively secure. Such a sense of security is also contributed by the fact that this education continues to evolve and that main determinants of it are history, culture, traditions, geographical location, needs and challenges – so in fact potential threats, which in turn affects the process of education, attitudes, as well as the awareness.

Diabulimia is the intentional omission or reduction of insulin administration in a patient with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) and coexisting eating disorder in the attempt to reduce or avoid weight gain. Although the true incidence of diabulimia is unknown, it is estimated that between 20-30% of girls and up to 40% young women with IDDM have experienced diabulimia since their diagnosis of IDDM was made. Patients with diabulimia frequently present to the emergency department, therefore early recognition of the eating disorder and prompt psychiatric consultation are essential. The aim of this review article is to summarize the existing literature about diabulimia and to raise awareness amongst emergency physicians about how to identify and treat these patients.

Introduction and aim. In India, the utilization of agricultural pesticides for intentional self-poisoning is a prevalent method, and it is associated with substantially higher fatality rates compared to other self-poisoning approaches. Plethora, an agricultural insecticide containing novaluron (5.25%) and indoxacarb (4.5%), has recently been introduced and widely used in India and various other regions for its broad-spectrum lepidopteran control. While there have been documented cases of isolated self-poisoning involving indoxacarb, there is currently no literature reporting incidents of human poisoning specifically related to novaluron. Description of the case. An 83-Year-old male was presented to the emergency department (ED) with a history of consumption of 50 mL of an insecticide suspension concentrate called ‘PLETHORA’ to commit suicide. He had one episode of vomiting and dizziness after the ingestion. There was associated cyanosis, and the patient was put on high-flow oxygen at 10 L/min through a face mask. The patient was diagnosed to have methemoglobinemia and was successfully treated with methylene blue and ascorbic acid. One hour post methylene blue injection showed a methemoglobin level of 1%, and the patient gradually improved. Patients presenting with novaluron and indoxacarb poisoning require supportive treatment as there is no specific antidote. There should be a high index of suspicion for methemoglobinemia in such patients, and timely management is necessary to prevent further complications. The patient was successfully managed and discharged after the 3rd day of admission. Conclusion. The management of patients with novaluron and indoxacarb poisoning primarily involves supportive care, as there is currently no specific antidote available for these substances. Maintaining a high suspicion index for the development of methemoglobinemia and timely management of other complications is crucial for the best possible patient outcomes.

Modern age is associated with massive deployment of information technology in businesses that are forced to work with a wealth of data and information. Businesses are trying to make the most effective use of knowledge not only from real data, but they often have to rely on their employees' knowledge. Increasing fluctuation of employees and the resulting outflow of knowledge will force businesses to increasingly make use of knowledge management. The article describes the process of looking for the context and the implications of selecting contracts to transform them into information and knowledge on the example of a real business. The verified process is transformed into a design of knowledge system, which results in the recommended generated rule for selecting sales department orders to ensure profitability for the business.

Voluntary fire protection in Slovakia currently records development in organizational, financial, professional and legislative terms. The intervention of these fire brigades, the willingness to help others with self-esteem, and the will to learn, is a positive response and interest in their activities among the Fire and Rescue Corps, as well as in the professional and laic public. However, there are still gaps, inconsistencies and inadequate legislative basis for this issue in the field of training of members of voluntary fire brigades. These are the inconsistencies between the content of the basic and the improvement of the training of the members of the fire-fighting units, the area of safety and health at work is no longer reworked within the specialized and cyclical training of members and employees.

The complete obstruction of a large artery, including the aorta, is a serious event which, as a general rule, has devastating effects. Sometimes symptoms may be ambiguous and the diagnosis may not be immediate. Prompt recognition of this condition provides the only hope of survival from this rare and catastrophic disease. A 52-year-old man was well until an episode of sudden low back pain and paresis of the legs resulted in admission to the Emergency Department (ED). The entire process of management, from admission to ED until the end of surgical operation, took about 4 hours. After 4 days the patient was discharged, in good clinical conditions. This case report highlights the importance of rapid management of this rare clinical condition for optimal outcome. Early diagnosis is essential for effective treatment.

The aim of the study was to determine factors responsible for patient satisfaction after treatment at the surgical department.Material and methods. The study was conducted in six health care units, which were divided into two groups: Group I: 3 hospitals with the number of beds exceeding 400, and Group II: 3 hospitals with the number of beds below 400. The study group comprised 180 patients, 30 from each of the hospitals. The authors' used the Servqual method and questionnaire with 30 questions relating to five areas characteristic of medical service. Apart from the above-mentioned we also took into consideration hospital personnel: their qualifications and salary, hospital equipment, patient hospitalization costs, and indicated by the patient - the reason for his/her satisfaction or dissatisfaction with hospitalization. Results were subject to statistical analysis.Results. The results indicated that the factors pertaining to costs, especially those related to living conditions and also those related to empathy, personnel competence, and their communication with the patient had very significant influence on patient satisfaction with his/her hospitalization. Fulfilling the patient's needs considering the functional quality increases the patient's comfort, and as a consequence translates into satisfaction with the hospitalization.Conclusions. Considering both groups of hospitals the surgical departments did not entirely fulfill the patient's expectations, and there is a need for improvement in this area. The main reason for the negative feelings of patients included worse than expected living conditions, sporadic contact with physicians and lack of information concerning the course of therapy.

Introduction and aim. In this study, we evaluated parameters that might be associated with hospitalization in patients admitted to the emergency department (ED) with an acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Material and methods. Patients with COPD who presented to ED due to AECOPD between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021 were included in the study. Patient data were obtained from the hospital database. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression methods were used to identify the relationship between hospitalization and clinical parameters. Results. The study included 237 patients divided into two groups: inpatients (n=124) and outpatients (n=113). We found significant differences between the two groups in terms of temperature, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, C-reactive protein, white blood cell count, procalcitonin, albumin, arterial blood pH, pCO2, and non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) requirement. Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that body temperature [odds ratio (OR):1.62;95% confidence interval (CI):1.21–4.91; p<0.001], oxygen saturation (OR:0.73, 95% CI:0.39-0.94, p<0.001), respiratory rate (OR:1.96; 95% CI: 1.07–6.14; p<0.001), albumin (OR:0.71; 95% CI:0.41–0.93; p=0.042), procalcitonin (OR:2.93; 95% CI:1.22–4.84; p<0.001), arterial blood pH (OR:0.78; 95% CI:0.29-0.91; p=0.038), pCO2 (OR:2.45; 95% CI:1.24–4.65; p<0.001), and NIMV requirement (OR:2.31; 95% CI:1.41–5.13; p<0.001) were the independent predictors of hospitalization. Conclusion. Our findings may help identify patients who will require hospitalization at an early stage.
