    The aim of the article is to identify attitudes towards higher education of graduates of high schools in Białystok and to identify the individual and social factors influencing these attitudes. The decision-making model presented in the article included the personal preferences, peer groups, teachers and parents as a factors determining the value of higher education, the criteria of study selection and the expectations associated with them. The decision-making process associated with the choice of an educational path has a nature of investment decisions that are highly unpredictable because of delaying desired outcomes. That’s why the decision-making process of graduates of high schools have to be highly social in nature.

    Opis:
    The process of adaptation to professional career remains an important issue, especially in the domain of professional consultancy. This article aims at the analysis of the relationships between the occupational themes, the ambiguity tolerance level in career decisions and the style of coping with career decision-making difficulties. The study covered 227 students. The participants were assigned occupational themes according to the results obtained from a Multifaceted Occupational Preferences Assessment questionnaire. They have been analysed for the diversity in terms of ambiguity tolerance in career decision-making (Career Decisions Ambiguity Tolerance questionnaire) and the styles of coping with difficulties in career decisions (Coping with Career Decisionmaking Difficulties questionnaire). It has been established that sex is not related to the aforesaid personality dispositions. Persons with the social occupational theme seek social support more often than persons categorised as other types; the artistic theme is most closely connected with the unproductive coping style, while persons categorised as enterprising exhibit the opposite tendency. Furthermore, a correlation between the ambiguity tolerance and the productive coping style in career decisions has been noted.

    Adversarial decision making is aimed at determining strategies to anticipate the behavior of an opponent trying to learn from our actions. One defense is to make decisions intended to confuse the opponent, although our rewards can be diminished. This idea has already been captured in an adversarial model introduced in a previous work, in which two agents separately issue responses to an unknown sequence of external inputs. Each agent’s reward depends on the current input and the responses of both agents. In this contribution, (a) we extend the original model by establishing stochastic dependence between an agent’s responses and the next input of the sequence, and (b) we study the design of time varying decision strategies for the extended model. The strategies obtained are compared against static strategies from theoretical and empirical points of view. The results show that time varying strategies outperform static ones.

    The paper is concerned with multi-criteria decision-making under uncertainty with scenario planning. This topic has been explored by many researchers since almost all real-world decision problems contain multiple conflicting criteria and a deterministic evaluation of criteria is often impossible. We propose a procedure for uncertain multi-objective optimization which can be applied when seeking a pure strategy. A pure strategy, as opposed to a mixed strategy, allows the decision-maker to select and perform only one accessible alternative. The new approach takes into account the decision-maker’s preference structure (importance of particular goals) and nature (pessimistic, moderate or optimistic attitude towards a given problem). It is designed for one-shot decisions made under uncertainty with unknown probabilities (frequencies), see decision-making under complete uncertainty or decision-making under strategic uncertainty. The novel approach can be used in the case of totally independent payoff matrices for particular targets.

    Purpose: Medical treatments and medical decision making are mostly human based and therefore in risk of being influenced by cognitive biases. The potential impact could lead to bad medical outcome, unnecessary harm or even death. The aim of this comprehensive literature study is to analyse the evidence whether healthcare professionals are biased, which biases are most relevant in medicine and how these biases may be reduced. Approach/Findings: The results of the comprehensive literature based meta-analysis confirm on the one hand that several biases are relevant in the medical decision and treatment process. On the other hand, the study shows that the empirical evidence on the impact of cognitive biases on clinical outcome is scarce for most biases and that further research is necessary in this field. Value/Practical implications: Nevertheless, it is important to determine the extent to which biases in healthcare professionals translate into negative clinical outcomes such as misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, or mistreatment. Only this way, the importance of incorporating debiasing strategies into the clinical setting, and which biases to focus on, can be properly assessed. Research limitations/Future Research: Though recent literature puts great emphasis on cognitive debiasing strategies, there are still very few approaches that have proven to be efficient. Due to the increasing degree of specialization in medicine, the relevance of the different biases varies. Paper type: Theoretical.
    Мета роботи: Лікування та прийняття медичних рішень в основному пов'язані з людським фактором і, безумовно, схильні до ризику впливу когнітивних упереджень. Потенційний вплив може призвести до несприятливого медичного результату, непотрібного збитку або навіть смерті. Мета цього всебічного дослідження літератури – проаналізувати докази того, чи упереджені медичні працівники, які упередження найбільш актуальні в медицині і як ці упередження можна зменшити. Підходи/Результати дослідження: Результати масштабного метааналізу, заснованого на літературних джерелах, підтверджують, з одного боку, що деякі упередження мають безпосереднє відношення до медичного рішення і процесу лікування. З іншого боку, дослідження показує, що емпіричні дані про вплив когнітивних упереджень на клінічний результат недостатні для більшості упереджень і що в цій галузі необхідні подальші дослідження. Цінність/Практичне значення дослідження: Важливо визначити, в якій мірі упередження з боку медичних працівників призводять до негативних клінічних наслідків, таких як неправильний діагноз, пізня постановка діагнозу або неякісне лікування. Тільки так можна буде належним чином оцінити важливість включення стратегій виключення систематичних клінічних помилок і визначити на яких упередженнях слід зосередити увагу. Обмеження дослідження/Перспективи подальших досліджень: Незважаючи на те, що в літературі останніх років велика увага приділяється стратегіям когнітивної деградації, все ще існує дуже мало підходів, які довели свою ефективність. Через зростання ступеню спеціалізації в медицині значимість різних упереджень варіюється. Тип статті: Теоретичний.
    Цель работы: Лечение и принятие медицинских решений в основном связаны с человеческим фактором и, следовательно, подвержены риску влияния когнитивных предубеждений. Потенциальное воздействие может привести к неблагоприятному медицинскому исходу, ненужному ущербу или даже смерти. Цель этого всестороннего исследования литературы – проанализировать доказательства того, предвзяты ли медицинские работники, какие предубеждения наиболее актуальны в медицине и как эти предубеждения можно уменьшить. Подходы/Результаты исследования: Результаты обширного метаанализа, основанного на литературных источниках, подтверждают, с одной стороны, что некоторые предубеждений имеют непосредственное отношение к медицинскому решению и процессу лечения. С другой стороны, исследование показывает, что эмпирические данные о влиянии когнитивных предубеждений на клинический результат недостаточны для большинства предубеждений и что в этой области необходимы дальнейшие исследования. Ценность/Практическое значение исследования: Важно определить, в какой степени предубеждения со стороны медицинских работников приводят к негативным клиническим исходам, таким как неправильный диагноз, поздняя постановка диагноза или плохое лечение. Только так можно будет должным образом оценить важность включения стратегий исключения систематических клинических ошибок и определить на каких предубеждениях следует сосредоточить внимание. Ограничения исследования/Перспективы дальнейших исследований: Несмотря на то, что в литературе последних лет большое внимание уделяется стратегиям когнитивной деградации, все еще очень мало подходов, которые доказали свою эффективность.     Przedstawione podejście do rozpoznania typów strategii rozwojowych gmin z wykorzystaniem wielokryterialnych metod podejmowania decyzji jest kompleksową procedurą, która może być użyteczna w programowaniu rozwoju, szczególnie przy ocenie słabych i mocnych stron jednostek administracyjnych oraz szans i zagrożeń pojawiających się w ich otoczeniu. Ma ona przewagę nad metodami klasycznymi (opisowymi) ze względu na możliwość kwantyfikowania ważności czynników analizy SWOT, a więc elementów o charakterze zarówno jakościowym, jak i ilościowym. Może też być pomocna przy identyfikacji typów strategii rozwojowych realizowanych przez jednostki administracyjne. Proponowane podejście zastosowano do ustalenia pozycji strategicznej gmin powiatu międzyrzeckiego.
    The approach the authors use in order to distinguish types of developmental strategies of communes, based on the multi-criteria decision-making tool, is a complex procedure that can be useful in development programming, and in particular in assessing strengths and weaknesses of administrative units, as well as the opportunities and threats in their environment. Unlike the classic (descriptive) methods, the procedure allows the researcher to quantify the importance of the SWOT analysis factors, i.e. both qualitative and quantitative elements. It can be a useful instrument in identifying types of developmental strategies of administrative units. In the present article, the approach has been used to determine the strategic position of the communes in the Miedzyrzecki poviat.

    Opis:
    The research deals with the problem of the formation of life scenarios of students-mi-grants and their sanogenic thinking through the prism of socio-cultural adaptation. The authors point out that the sanogenic thinking reduces internal conflicts, allows you to control emotions, needs and desires, and thus prevents diseases. The article is presented the model of the formation of students’ sanogenic thinking that can be a key way to restore individual wellbeing. The article proves that scenario decisions of students-migrants are unconscious, irrational mind sets for adapting to life. In this regard, the modality of students-migrants contact with socio-cultural surroundings which impacts the establishment of acculturation strategies has been predicted and featured. The authors established a correlation between certain types of socio-cultural adaptation and the prohibition of the scenario. The authors prove that the process of the development of the students’ sanogenic thinking through the prism of socio-cultural adaptation can enrich psychological theory and practice with new experience and become a means of support for the interested reader.
    Badanie dotyczy problemu tworzenia scenariuszy życiowych studentów-imigrantów i ich sanogenicznego myślenia poprzez pryzmat adaptacji społeczno-kulturowej. Autorzy zwracają uwagę, że myślenie sanogenne ogranicza wewnętrzne konflikty, pozwala kontrolować emocje, potrzeby i pragnienia, a tym samym zapobiega chorobom. W artykule przedstawiono model formowania się sanogenicznego myślenia uczniów, który może być kluczowym sposobem przywrócenia dobrego samopoczucia.Artykuł dowodzi, że decyzje scenariuszy uczniów-imigrantów są nieświadome, irracjonalny umysł przystosowuje się do życia. W związku z tym przewidziano i przedstawiono modalność kontaktu uczniów-migrantów z otoczeniem społeczno-kulturowym, które ma wpływ na ustanowienie strategii akulturacji. Autorzy ustalili korelację między niektórymi typami adaptacji społeczno-kulturowej a zakazem scenariusza. Autorzy udowadniają, że proces rozwoju myślenia sanogenicznego uczniów przez pryzmat adaptacji społeczno-kulturowej może wzbogacić teorię i praktykę psychologiczną o nowe doświadczenia i stać się środkiem wsparcia dla zainteresowanego czytelnika.
    В исследовании рассматривается проблема формирования жизненных сценариев студентов-мигрантов и их саногенное мышление через призму социокультурной адаптации. Авторы отмечают, что саногенное мышление уменьшает внутренние конфликты, позволяет контролировать эмоции, потребности и желания и тем самым предотвращает болезни. В статье представлена модель формирования саногенного мышления учащихся, которая может стать ключевым способом восстановления индивидуального благополуччя студентов. В статье доказывается, что cценарные решения студентов-мигрантов являются бессознательными, иррациональными наборами разума для адаптации к жизни. Авторы установили корреляцию между некоторыми видами социокультурной адаптации и запретом сценария. Авторы доказывают, что процес развития саногенного мышления учащихся через призму социокультурной адаптации может обогатить психологическую теорию и практику новым опытом и стать средством поддержки заинтересованного читателя.
