Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and dark septate endophyte (DSE) associations were studied in 36 medicinal plant species from 33 genera and 17 families, collected from the Botanical Garden of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) was found in 34 species (94%); 26 were of the Arum-type, 4 – Paris and 4 taxa revealed intermediate morphology. The abundance of AMF hyphae in roots varied with particular species, ranging from 2.5% (Helianthus tuberosus) to 77.9% (Convallaria majalis). The mycelium of DSE was observed in 13 plant species (36%), however, the percentage of root colonization by these fungi was low. Spores of 7 AMF species (Glomeromycota) were isolated from trap cultures established from rhizosphere soils of the investigated plants: Archaeospora trappei (Archaeosporaceae), Glomus aureum, Glomus caledonium, Glomus claroideum, Glomus constrictum, Glomus mosseae, Glomus versiforme (Glomeraceae). Our results are the first detailed report of root endophyte associations of the plant species under study. Moreover, the mycorrhizal status of 14 plant species is reported for the first time.

In June 2005 metaplantation of Eryngium maritimum and Epipactis atrorubens, from the build area of the Gdańsk Container Terminal into Sobieszewska Island was carried out. The reason for that immediate action was the unreliable report of the influence of investment on the environment, in which the mentioned above species have not been included. Metaplantation was conducted during one day time, by 21 volunteers. Altogether, 146 individuals of Sea Holly and 184 ones of Dark Red Helleborine have been translocated. Detailed measurements of each individual were made. On the new site, all planted individuals were permanently labelled. The newly constituted populations have been taken under monitoring. With regard to species of special concern, metaplantation of threatened populations seems to be the most beneficial form of nature compensation expected from the investors. Still, there are no unambiguous procedures for its executing.
Rozwoj gospodarczy i związana z tym nasilająca się antropopresja powodują istotne przekształcenia środowiska przyrodniczego na rożnych poziomach jego organizacji: ekosystemalnym, biocenotycznym i gatunkowym. Zgodnie z obowiązującą w Polsce polityką zrównoważonego rozwoju zmiany te, często nieuniknione, powinny być poprzedzone działaniami minimalizującymi ich skutki. W związku z tym podejmowane są działania czynnej ochrony przyrody. Jedną z tych metod, która dotyczy ochrony ginących i zagrożonych gatunków roślin, jest metaplantacja. Według „Poradnika ochrony siedlisk i gatunków Natura 2000” (Sudnik- Wojcikowska i Stebel 2004) metaplantacja to: „metoda ochrony gatunków ginących, polegająca na przenoszeniu roślin i zwierząt z zagrożonych stanowisk naturalnych na stanowiska zastępcze”. W czerwcu 2005 roku przeprowadzona została metaplantacja populacji Eryngium maritimum i Epipactis atrorubens z terenu budowy terminalu kontenerowego Portu Północnego w Gdańsku na Wyspę Sobieszewską. Przygotowanie i przeprowadzenie metaplantacji musiało odbyć się bardzo szybko ze względu na rozpoczęte już prace budowlane. Tak późne rozpoczęcie starań o uratowanie lokalnych populacji obu gatunków wynikało z nierzetelnie sporządzonego raportu oddziaływania inwestycji na środowisko, w którym wyżej wymienione gatunki nie zostały uwzględnione. Metaplantację przeprowadzono w ciągu jednego dnia, a wzięło w niej udział 21 wolontariuszy. Ogółem przeniesiono 146 okazów mikołajka nadmorskiego i 184 kruszczyka rdzawoczerwonego. Wykonano szczegółowe pomiary każdego przenoszonego okazu. Na nowym stanowisku posadzono i trwale oznakowano wszystkie przeniesione rośliny. Nowo powstałe populacje objęte zostały monitoringiem. W przypadku gatunków szczególnej troski metaplantacja zagrożonych populacji wydaje się najkorzystniejszą formą kompensacji przyrodniczej, wymaganej od inwestorów. Nadal brak jest jednak jasno określonych procedur jej przeprowadzania.

W artykule zaprezentowano antropologiczne implikacje kategorii nocy i ciemności, które są obecne w opowiadaniach fantastycznych. Do literatury fantastycznej zalicza się między innymi gatunki takie jak horror, fantasy oraz science fiction. W każdym z nich występują kategorie nocy i ciemności i są ściśle związane z ich antropologicznym interpretowaniem w kulturze i społeczeństwie. Proces symbolizacji tych kategorii jest obecny w kulturze popularnej. Kulturowe konotacje w literaturze fantastycznej zasadzają się z jednej strony na naturalnym dla ludzi strachu przed nocą i ciemnością, z drugiej zaś na narracji zgodnej z kompetencjami kulturowymi i społecznymi odbiorców.
In her article, Magdalena Ziółkowska discusses the anthropological implications of the categories of night and darkness present in “fantastic” stories. Literature of the fantastic includes genres such as horror, fantasy and science fiction. In each of them there are categories of night and darkness and they are closely related to their anthropological interpretation in culture and society. The process of symbolizing these categories is present in popular culture. Cultural connotations in “fantastic” literature are based, on the one hand, on people’s natural fear of night and darkness, and, on the other, on narrative consistency with the cultural and social competences of the readers.

Temperature is the most critical factor determining success or failure of plant establishment. Seed germination response of five medicinal species include three seed-propagated perennial species, Cichorium intybus, cynara scolymus and Echinacea purpurea and vegetative-reproduction perennial species, Achillea millefolium and annual species, Matricaria aurea were assessed at constant temperatures. The seeds were exposed to constant temperatures of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45°C under total darkness. Germination percentage of all the species were significantly affected by various temperatures (p ≤ 0.001). A. millefolium did not germinate at 5-10 and 35-45°C, but showed noticeable germination percentage (73.3-100%) at temperatures ranged from 15-30° C. The highest total germination percentage was observed within the range of 15-35 °C for other species. Also, we calculated cardinal temperatures (the minimum, optimum and maximum temperature) for seed germination of species. The highest value for minimum temperature was 10.07ºC in A. millefolium followed by C. scolymus and M. aurea (5ºC) while the lowest was for E. purpurea and C. intybus (2.68 and 2.90ºC respectively). The lowest value for optimum temperature was detected in A. millefolium (22.72ºC) and M. aurea (23.88°C) while the maximum values were observed in E. purpurea and C. intybus (30.40ºC and 29.90ºC respectively). Based on results of present study we concluded that species with both vegetative and seed-propagated reproduction forms like A. millefolium had smaller temperature range rather those with just one way of reproduction (seed production).

The dark channel prior has been successfully applied to solve the blind deblurring problem on different scene images. Since the dark channel of the blurry-noise image is similar to that of the corresponding clear image, the sparsity of the dark channel is less effective for image blind deblurring. Inspired by the fact that a fractional order calculation can inhibit the noise and preserve the texture information of the image, a fractional order dark channel prior is proposed for image deblurring in this paper. It is appropriate for kernel estimation where input images and intermediate images are processed by using a fractional order dark channel prior. Furthermore, the non-convex problem is solved by the half-quadratic splitting method, and some metrics are used for deblurring image quality assessment. Finally, quantitative and qualitative experimental results show that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art results on synthetic and real blurry images.

In this article, we consider the coupled Ginzburg–Landau equation with variable coefficients including the nonlinear gain and obtain the exact solutions of chirped dark vector quasi-solitons via the ansatz method. Next, the propagation of chirped dark vector quasi-solitons is discussed to verify whether they can be transmitted stably in the birefringent optical fiber system. The numerical simulation shows that this can be achieved. We deeply add the small perturbation to the transmission of dark vector quasi-solitons to make the results above more general. The results further prove the correctness of our solutions.

Popularną tendencją, jaką można zaobserwować w marketingu filmowym od 1997 r., jest aktywizowanie widzów i nobilitowanie ich do rangi kreatorów, mających realny wpływ na fabułę bądź osób „wtajemniczonych” – wiedzących więcej o nowej produkcji za pośrednictwem informacji, które pojawiają się na różnych platformach medialnych. Sposoby zaangażowania odbiorcy w dyskurs medialny, towarzyszący działaniom promocyjnym filmu – rozumianego w kategorii produktu marketingowego − można prześledzić na przykładzie dwóch filmów – Blair Witch Project i Mrocznego rycerza. Kampanie te ze względu na innowacyjne podejście do tematu promocji i zaangażowania potencjalnego widza zapisały się jako nietypowe w odniesieniu do marketingu tradycyjnego, przyczyniając się do spektakularnych sukcesów kasowych, pozyskania nowych odbiorców, utworzenia lub poszerzenia istniejących filmowych fanklubów oraz do zmiany w podejściu do marketingu filmowego, który współcześnie te schematy immersyjne poszerza bądź reinterpretuje.
The popular trend that can be observed in the film promotion since 1997 is activating viewers and ennobled them to the rank of creators, having a real impact on the storyline or “insiders” – people who know more about the new production through the information that appears on different media platforms. Ways to engage the recipient in the media discourse, accompanying promotional activities for the film – understood in the category of marketing product – can be traced back to the example of two movies – The Blair Witch Project and The Dark Knight, which − due to an innovative approach to the subject of promotion and engage potential viewers – materialized as unusual in compared to traditional marketing, contributing to the spectacular box office success, acquiring new recipients, creating or expanding existing film fan clubs and to changes in film marketing, which today extends or reinterpreted these schemes of immersion.

In the borehole DB-5, at a depth 1370.0 m dark micaceous enclave in granodiorite from Będkowska Valley was found. A sharp contact enclave/granodiorite is observed. The transition zone is irregularly developed around the enclave studied. It is a small enclave (3 x 6 cm), discoidal in shape. The microstructure of micaceous enclave is fine-blastic; crystalloblasts of rock-forming minerals are 0.2-0.5 mm in size. This enclave consists of: Fe-biotite (56-62 vol.%), plagioclase Ca-Na (34-40 vol.%), spinel (magnetite), corundum, and sericitic pseudo- morphs after cordierite. Its mineralogical composition is different from the Będkowska Valley granodiorite, what suggests that this rock is a medium/high-temperature restite. This rock represents residuum after partial melting of granodiorite magma in deep levels of basement of the Małopolska Massif.

The lithologic variation and biostratigraphy of the Hieroglyphic Beds were examined in the Szczyrzyc Depression, where four lithologic complexes were distinguished. The biostratigraphy is based on agglutinated foraminifera and supported by scarce planktonic foraminifera. The lower part of the Hieroglyphic Beds contains non-characteristic, Ypresian foraminifers, including assemblages of small-sized Trochammina and at successively higher levels representatives of the Bartonian Ammodiscus latus Zone and the Priabonian Reticulophragmium gerochi Zone. The upper part of the Hieroglyphic Beds, composed of dark shales enriched in TOC (1–2%), corresponds to the deposits of the so-called Black Eocene, known from the Fore-Magura group of nappes. Redeposited flysch rocks resulting from episodes of subaqueous mass flow occur in the lower Bartonian part of the section.

Dzięki osobistym wysiłkom, ale przede wszystkim za sprawą łaski Bożej uczeń Jezusa uczestniczy w życiu Trójjedynego i zespala się z Nim we wzajemnym oddaniu. Tak to rozumiał św. Jan od Krzyża, który w mądrości krzyża wyznaczył punkt startu, drogę i cel duszy. Dla św. Teresy Benedykty od Krzyża i św. Jana Pawła II stał się duchowym mistrzem i wzorem.
For a Christian, the “dark night of the soul” means the acceptance of suffering and the cross which leads to a greater union with God. To reach this goal, one must control their senses, overcome their passions and egotistical tendencies. Thanks to this effort and above else to the work of God’s grace, the disciple of Jesus partakes in the life of the Holy Trinity in a union of mutual self‑giving. This is how St. John of the Cross understood it. The wisdom of the Cross marks the beginning, way and goal of the soul. He was the spiritual mentor and guide to both St. Teresa Benedict of the Cross and St. John Paul II.

In this study, weapply microscopic analysis to evaluate thematurity of organic matter and characterise the macerals dispersed in the Upper Eocene shale samples from the Hieroglyphic Formation (Silesian Nappe, Outer Carpathians). The mean vitrinite reflectance values indicate the presence of organic matter immature to hydrocarbon generation (Ro≈0.43%).The main organic component dispersed in analysed samples is vitrinite, characteristic of kerogen type III.

The path of enlightenment consists imitating of Jesus by practicing the virtues, especially the supernatural ones. The condition for this development of virtues is a some purity of heart. Man has to put his passions in order and fight with his major weaknesses. Then comes self-control, order in everyday life, deep conviction of the truths of faith, and more time to talk with the Lord during prayer. To achieve this state, a Christian must to pass a process of passive purification, which leads him into the mystical life. All imperfections must be removed. Therefore, God’s intervention is needed, which is expressed through special inspirations. Then the gifts of the Holy Spirit enable us to receive them. The Christian experiences passive purifications of senses and of spirit. This state can be compared to the purification of the senses. The purification of the soul is compared to the purification of gold in a crucible. In this state, prayer develops from meditation to emotional prayer. The Christian must therefore remove the obstacles in the development of prayer.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest dokonanie wieloaspektowej antropologicznej analizy wybranych narracji, dotyczących sposobów doświadczania tajgi w kontekście lokalnych praktyk myśliwskich stosowanych przez przedstawicieli wspólnoty tofalarskiej. Tofalarzy są jedną z najmniejszych autochtonicznych grup etnicznych Rosji (ok. 800 osób), zamieszkują w trzech wsiach we wschodniej części pasma Sajanów w obwodzie irkuckim. Sposób życia Tofalarów jest związany z otaczającym ich środowiskiem, czyli górską tajgą. Z przeprowadzonych przeze mnie etnograficznych badań terenowych można wywnioskować, że mieszkańcy Tofalarii doświadczają tajgi w sposób, który trudno poddaje się opisowi podporządkowanemu zachodniej epistemologii opartej na perspektywie antropocentrycznej. Analizując ten problem, korzystam z prac współczesnych antropologów podejmujących próby wypracowania nowej optyki antropologicznej, w której człowiek nie znajduje się w pozycji uprzywilejowanej (m.in. Tim Ingold, Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, Łukasz Smyrski). Drugim punktem odniesienia są dla mnie prace współczesnych filozofów związanych z nurtem realizmu spekulatywnego, których łączy krytyczny stosunek do antropocentryzmu oraz częste odwoływanie się do kategorii dark/ciemny (np. ciemna ekologia Timothy’ego Mortona, ciemny witalizm Bena Woodarda).
The purpose of this article is to make a multi-faceted anthropological analysis of selected narratives concerning the ways of experiencing the taiga in the context of local hunting practices used by representatives of the Tofalar community. Tofalars are one of the smallest indigenous ethnic groups in Russia (ca. 800 people). They live in three villages in the eastern part of the Sayan range in the Irkutsk region. Their way of life is connected with the surrounding environment, which in this case is the mountain taiga. My field studies indicate that the inhabitants of Tofalaria experience the taiga in a way that is difficult to describe in the light of Western epistemology based on an anthropocentric perspective. In analysing this problem, I use the work of modern anthropologists who are trying to develop a new anthropological approach, in which the human being is not in a privileged position (e.g. Tim Ingold, Viveiros de Castro, Łukasz Smyrski). The second point of reference for me is the work of contemporary philosophers, associated with the current of speculative realism, which combines a critical attitude to anthropocentrism and frequent references to the category of ‘dark’ (e.g. Timothy Morton’s dark ecology, Ben Woodard’s dark vitalism).
