Several authors have studied the graphs for which every edge is a chord of a cycle; among 2-connected graphs, one characterization is that the deletion of one vertex never creates a cut-edge. Two new results: among 3-connected graphs with minimum degree at least 4, every two adjacent edges are chords of a common cycle if and only if deleting two vertices never creates two adjacent cut-edges; among 4-connected graphs, every two edges are always chords of a common cycle.

Opis:
In this study problems connected with the detection of influential observations are investigated in the linear regression model using the least squares estimation of structural parameters. This issue has been presented in three cuts: the complete model, 1-cut model and m-cut model.

We propose a novel approach to the solution of fuzzy matrix games with payoffs given as trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. We extend Li’s [36, Chapter 9] work based on a cut-set based method for finding an optimal solution to overcome the fact that the assumptions and properties assumed therein do not guarantee in general, first, the very existence of an optimal solution, and second, its attainment via a mathematical programming formulation proposed. We first briefly mention those problems in Li’s [36] approach, and then propose a new, corrected and general method, called the Mehar mehod, based on a modified mathematical pro- gramming formulation of a matrix game with payoffs represented by trapezoid intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. For illustration, we solve Li’s [36] example, and compare his and our results.

Opis:
A well established technique toward developing the proof theory of a Hilbert-style modal logic is to introduce a Gentzen-style equivalent (a Gentzenisation), then develop the proof theory of the latter, and finally transfer the metatheoretical results to the original logic (e.g., [1, 6, 8, 18, 10, 12]). In the first-order modal case, on one hand we know that the Gentzenisation of the straightforward first-order extension of GL, the logic QGL, admits no cut elimination (if the rule is included as primitive; or, if not included, then the rule is not admissible [1]). On the other hand the (cut-free) Gentzenisations of the first-order modal logics M3 and ML3 of [10, 12] do have cut as an admissible rule. The syntactic cut admissibility proof given in [18] for the Gentzenisation of the propositional provability logic GL is extremely complex, and it was the basis of the proofs of cut admissibility of the Gentzenisations of M3 and ML3, where the presence of quantifiers and quantifier rules added to the complexity and length of the proof. A recent proof of cut admissibility in a cut-free Gentzenisation of GL is given in [5] and is quite short and easy to read. We adapt it here to revisit the proofs for the cases of M3 and ML3, resulting to similarly short and easy to read proofs, only slightly complicated by the presence of quantification and its relevant rules.

In this study, the efficacy of colloidal silver in extending the vase life of cut chrysanthemum ‘Feeling Green’ inflorescences was evaluated. Three concentrations of colloidal silver were used: 0.01%, 0.02 % and 0.04%. Control inflorescences were kept in water. Colloidal silver treatments at all concentrations extended the vase life of cut chrysanthemum. The 0.02% colloidal silver treatment produced the longest vase life (25 days), while the control resulted in the shortest vase life (18 days). In addition, the less weight loss were observed in the inflorescences exposed to the solution of colloidal silver. The greatest solution uptake was observed in the variant with colloidal silver at 0.02%. Leaf greenness index was the highest in the chrysanthemums placed in 0.04% silver solution.

Opis:
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyse the modelling of exhaust gas flow patterns with variations in pressure, number, and shape of filters on the catalytic converter. Design/methodology/approach: The research method used is a simulation using ANSYS, which starts by creating a converter catalytic model with pressure variations: (0.5-1.5 atm), number of filters: (2-5), and the form of filter-cut/filter-not-cut. Findings: The decrease in velocity is caused by non-uniform velocity in the exhaust gas flow that occurs when passing through a bend in the filter-cut that serves as a directional flow to create turbulence. Filter-cut type tends to have fluctuating pressure, turbulence flow pattern shape so that contact between filter and exhaust gas is more effective. Based on the analysis of flow patterns, the speed and pressure of the 5 filter-not-cut design at a pressure of 0.5 are the best, while at pressure (1-1.5 atm) the type 5 filter-cut is the best. Research limitations/implications: This study is limited to filter-not-cut and filter-cut types with variations in the number of filters: 2, 3, 4, and 5, and the inlet pressure between 0.5-1 atm. Practical implications: The practical implications of this study are to find a catalytic converter design that has advantages in the effectiveness of exhaust gas absorption. Originality/value: The results show that the filter-not-cut and filter-cut types have the best effectiveness in the number of 5 filters. Filter-not-cut at the pressure of 0.5 atm and filter-cut at pressure (1-1.5 atm).

It was found, that the set of minimum cuts, separating two chosen vertices in graph, have the structure of distributive lattice. It was developed an effective procedure for finding the set of 1, 2 and 3 elements cuts in graph based on the consideration of distributive lattice of the set of minimum cuts. The procedure consists of first, the algorithm for finding indecomposable minimal cuts of distributive lattice. Second, algorithm for synthesis, using resulting subset from stage one, of the entire set of minimum cuts. The third, is the algorithm for describing the set of quasi-minimum (close to the minimum, next to minimum) cuts in the form of sum of distributive lattices of minimal cuts found for the modified function of weight. The computer program, implementing these algorithms, is presented with examples.
Ustalono, że zbiór minimalnych przekrojów, rozdzielających dwa zadane wierzchołki grafu, z wprowadzonymi na i operacjami ma strukturę kraty dystrybutywnej. Opis:
Postharvest senescence is a critical problem of carnation cut flowers, limiting their transportation and subsequent marketing chain. This study was designed to assess whether the application of 1-methylcyclopropene (1 MCP), silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), and nitric oxide (NO) released from donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) could prolong the vase life of cut carnations through an influence on the physiological and biochemical mechanisms involved in aging process. 1-MCP was used in the concentrations of 0, 100, 200, and 300 mg·m-3; AgNPs in the concentrations of 0, 50, 100, and 150 mg·dm-3; and SNP in the concentrations of 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 mM. All treatments significantly extended the cut flower life compared with untreated flowers, more so with 300 mg·m-3 of 1-MCP, 100 mg·dm-3 of AgNPs, or 0.3 mM of SNP. All these chemical compounds were able to considerably improve the relative water content (RWC), reduce the malondialdehyde (MDA) content and increase the membrane stability index (MSI) in petals and, therefore, maintain the membrane integrity. In addition, they decreased the activities of acetyl-CoA synthetase (ACS) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and, hence, depressed the production of ethylene in carnation cut flowers through downregulating the ethylene production, what prolonged the vase life. Altogether, the application of exogenous 1-MCP, AgNPs, or SNP may provide a promising avenue to improve the postharvest performance of carnation cut flowers.

Glaucoma is one of the main causes of blindness worldwide. Periodical retinal screening is highly recommended in order to detect any sign of the disease and apply the appropriated treatment. Different systems for the analysis of retinal images have been designed in order to assist this process. The segmentation of the optic disc is an important step in the development of a retinal screening system. In this paper we present an unsupervised method for the segmentation of the optic disc. The main obstruction in the optic disc segmentation process is the presence of blood vessels breaking the continuity of the object. While many other methods have addressed this problem trying to eliminate the vessels, we have incorporated the blood vessel information into our formulation. The blood vessels inside of the optic disc are used to give continuity to the object to segment. Our approach is based on the graph cut technique, where the graph is constructed by considering the relationship between neighbouring pixels and by the likelihood of them belonging to the foreground and background from prior information. Our method was tested on two public datasets, DIARETDB1 and DRIVE. The performance of our method was measured by calculating the overlapping ratio (Oratio), sensitivity and the mean absolute distance (MAD) with respect to the manually labeled images.

High-pressure hydro-jetting technologies, utilizing concentrated energy steams in the form of water jet usually including abrasive additives have been noticeably developed during last two decades. Particular aspect of that is high-pressure abrasive-water jet AWJ cutting and one can notice rapid development of this technology in recent years. The reason for that is technical progress that let to use high pressure of water emphasizing numerous advantages of this method. Having in mind the lack of complementary knowledge that describes mutual relations of input and output factors of cut process, the paper presents qualitative model of material shaping empirically elaborated for stainless steel type 0H18N9. Elaborated dependence was successfully used for prototype research stand programming which was built on the base of plasma cut-off machine type TOPAZ-S, modified to work as a high-pressure abrasive-water jet. In this paper we present a variant of this calculus for Kt4.3 with a constructive syntactical proof of cut elimination.

Let R be a commutative ring with identity and *(R) the set of non-zero ideals with non-zero annihilators. The annihilating-ideal graph of R is defined as the graph (R) with the vertex set *(R) and two distinct vertices I₁ and I₂ are adjacent if and only if I₁I₂ = (0). In this paper, we examine the presence of cut vertices and cut sets in the annihilating-ideal graph of a commutative Artinian ring and provide a partial classification of the rings in which they appear. Using this, we obtain the vertex connectivity of some annihilating-ideal graphs.

Forest management in the State Forests in the past two decades (1990−2009) focused solely on the aging of forest stands and augmentation of forest resources. This period saw an increase in the average age of forest stands from 54 to 61 years, the average standing volume from 186 to 245 m3/ha, and the share of harvested volume in annual increment volume from 50 to 58%. As a result, the share of stands older than 80 years increased from 21 to 28% while that of plantations and young stands decreased from 14.4 to 11%. This resulted in the deterioration of the health and sanitary condition of forests.

The paper summarises the results of laboratory testing of an energy harvesting vibration reduction system based on a magnetorheological (MR) damper whose control circuit incorporates a battery of bipolar electrolytic capacitors (current cut-off circuit). It is designed to reduce the undesired effects in vibration reduction systems of this type, associated with the increasing amplitude of the sprung mass vibration under the excitation inputs whose frequency should exceed the resonance frequency of the entire system. Results have demonstrated that incorporating a current cut-off circuit results in a significant decrease of sprung mass vibration amplitudes when the frequency of acting excitation inputs is higher than the resonance frequency.

The article presents the results of hydraulic conductivity and porosity tests of hardening slurries prepared from Portland cement, betonite, water and fluidal fly ashes from combustion of hard and brown coal. In addition, the ashes were in two states of activation: non-activated and mechanically activated. The slurries were exposed to persistent, 160-day filtration of chemically aggressive liquids: distilled water, 0.5% solution of nitric acid and 1% solution of sodium sulphate. A comparative base was composed of samples exposed to filtration of tap water. The research was into relations between hydraulic conductivity and parameters characterizing the porosity structures in slurries, as well as into the influence of sample maturation periods, the state of activation and type of ashes, and the type of aggressive medium on porosity and conductivity of the material. The observed phenomena were typical of materials based on cement binders, and exposed to chemical aggression, e.g. sealing-up of porosity structures in response to sulphate corrosion and de-sealing in response to leaching corrosion, along with effects specific for slurries, such as a decrease of hydraulic conductivity in response to nitric acid solution. A favourable effect of fluidal fly ashes from brown coal was also noted.

Opis:
In this paper, the properties of coupled waves travelling along a long cable are analysed. Since the tension and curvature in the equilibrium position of the cable are slowly varying functions of the arc co-ordinate, the problems concerning the travelling waves can be solved using the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) method. The waves propagating in the plane of the equilibrium curve are coupled. The wave associated with displacements perpendicular to the plane is uncoupled from the remaining waves. Applying the WKB method, the dispersion relation and equations describing the amplitudes of waves are determined. For a longitudinal-dominated pair of waves, there exist two cut-off frequencies depending on the arc co-ordinate. The results of calculations of wavelengths and amplitudes are presented in the form of plots.

The basic element of passing beam headlights is the "cut-off line". It was intended in European beam pattern as tool for correct adjustment of passing beam according good road illumination distance and oncoming drive eyes protection of excessive glare. Cut-off line was established on the one hand as a natural part separating bright and dark area in the conventional passing beam, on the other assigned its essential function of the visual aiming of headlights. It is used in laboratory practices as well as in vehicles factories and in services and technical periodical inspection. The most important is that cut-off line was defined visually and subjectively over 50 years ago. But needed aiming precision according guaranteed road visibility and glare protection is much higher than historically moulded practical cut-off performance. In paper is analysed definition of cut-off line, their performance and meaning, historical evolution and influence for technical development of headlamps design. Also, mathematical approximation and modelling of cut-off line visual perception is described. The important is analysis of practical examples of real cut-off lines, their connections with significant beam pattern characteristics and possible ambiguous aiming during type approval and during vehicle exploitation. Also, analyzed are perspectives of future cut-off line use, development or - may be replacement by other means better serving this very important task to guarantee correct adjustment beam pattern according good road illumination and protection against excessive glare.

The main purpose of this paper is to give alternative proofs of syntactical and semantical properties, i.e. the subformula property and the nite model property, of the sequent calculi for the modal logics K4.3, KD4.3, and S4.3. The application of the inference rules is said to be acceptable, if all the formulas in the upper sequents are subformula of the formulas in lower sequent. For some modal logics, Takano analyzed the relationships between the acceptable inference rules and semantical properties by constructing models. By using these relationships, he showed Kripke completeness and subformula property. However, his method is difficult to apply to inference rules for the sequent calculi for K4.3, KD4.3, and S4.3. Lookinglosely at Takano's proof, we nd that his method can be modied to construct nite models based on the sequent calculus for K4.3, if the calculus has (cut) and all the applications of the inference rules are acceptable. Similarly, we can apply our results to the calculi for KD4.3 and S4.3. This leads not only to Kripke completeness and subformula property, but also to finite model property of these logics simultaneously.

Opis:
The North Asasif Necropolis, adjacent to the New Kingdom temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, has been the subject of several excavations over the past century, first by H.E. Winlock in the early 20th century, and since 2013 by the Asasif Project. Most of the tombs in the necropolis are rock-cut tombs of honored officials dating to the Middle Kingdom. One of these officials, named Khety, was buried in a tomb designated by Winlock as MMA 508 (also known as Theban Tomb 311), though the tomb was subsequently reused for another burial (or burials) during the Third Intermediate Period. Though Winlock excavated this tomb in the early 20th century, he left much archaeological material behind, and systematic documentation of this excavation debris by the Asasif Project has yielded a wealth of information. This study focuses specifically on the human remains recovered from MMA 508 during the 2019 season. Despite the commingled nature of the MMA 508 assemblage, much information has been gleaned from the human remains. The remains of at least twenty individuals, including infants and children as well as adults, were recovered from the tomb debris. Evidence for systemic physiological stress and infection was observed in some of the remains, and both male and female individuals were identified. Various aspects of body treatment testify to the elite status of the individuals interred in this tomb. The relatively high percentage of sub-adult remains may support theories that the tombs in this part of the necropolis were sometimes used as multi-generational family tombs. Further study of the human remains from MMA 508 may shed light on burial practices from the Middle Kingdom and Third Intermediate Period.

Opis:
Since the beginning of the 21st century, an increasing interest in the research of ribonucleic acids has been observed in response to a surprising discovery of the role that RNA molecules play in the biological systems. It was demonstrated that they do not only take part in the protein synthesis (mRNA, rRNA, tRNA) but also are involved in the regulation of gene expression. Several classes of small regulatory RNAs have been discovered (e.g. microRNA, small interfering RNA, piwiRNA). Most of them are excised from specific double-stranded RNA precursors by enzymes that belong to the RNaseIII family (Drosha, Dicer or Dicer-like proteins). More recently, it has been shown that small regulatory RNAs are also generated as stable intermediates of RNA degradation (the so called RNA fragments originating from tRNA, snRNA, snoRNA etc.). Unfortunately, the mechanisms underlying biogenesis of the RNA fragments remain unclear. It is thought that several factors may be involved in the formation of the RNA fragments. The most important are the specific RNases, RNA-protein interactions and RNA structure. In this work, we focus on the RNA primary and secondary structures as factors influencing the RNA stability and consequently the pattern of RNA fragmentation. Earlier, we identified the major structural factors affecting non-enzymatic RNA degradation. Now, based on these data, we developed a new branch-and-cut algorithm that is able to predict the products of large RNA molecules' hydrolysis in vitro. We also present the experimental data that verify the results generated using this algorithm.

Opis:
Currently, process optimization is an important part of design of CNC toolpath, allowing overall process improvement in accordance to a range of criteria. Available CAE software for CNC toolpath optimization works only by changing the feed rate value specified in the base toolpath. The authors are planning to devise a solution allowing for optimization of other process parameters, including depth of cut. In some cases, it would be important for surface roughness to remain unaltered after optimization by means of increasing depth of cut. In this work, the effect of depth of cut on surface roughness was investigated. Depth of cut was altered for the roughing pass, while technological parameters for the finish pass remained constant. Roughness measurements were performed on-machine after rough turning and finish turning. The authors have found that depth of cut has a noticeable effect on investigated roughness parameters, both in the case of rough turning and subsequent finish turning operations.

Opis:
In order to make a navigable connection between the Vistula Lagoon and the Baltic Sea independent of an attitude of the Russian authorities, a cross-cut in the Polish part of the Vistula Spit is planned. The cross-cut will constitute an alternative waterway with respect to the existing one, leading through the Pilawa Strait which belongs to the Russian territorial waters. The new outlet will require breakwaters and an approach channel on the open sea side, as well as a waterway across the Vistula Lagoon to the harbour of Elbląg. The planned cross-cut is located about 3 km from the root of the Vistula Spit, at Skowronki village. The paper comprises an analysis of regional wave parameters in a mean statistical year on the basis of the Baltic wave climate reconstructed for the period of 44 years, together with a calculation of the longshore sediment transport rates. An influence of the planned coastal structures on the shoreline evolution, as well as the approach channel silting-up rates, in the first 10 years after the construction of the cross-cut, are estimated. An optimised layout of the planned approach channel and lengths of the planned breakwaters are recommended to facilitate the maintenance of the coast and the new waterway.

Opis:
Rapid development of slurry wall technology in the underground constructions caused a noticeable increase in interest, cut-off walls well known in the past. Introduction of hardening slurry to this technology makes their construction easier and creates new possibilities for their application. Current challenge lies in subsoil insulation in order to avoid contamination spread into the ground waters. Thus, besides the already well known problems, new ones appeared, in that the issue of corrosion, especially of a chemical nature, to which the cut-off walls are exposed in the environment of aggressive groundwater. The paper focuses on the assessment of the hardening slurries to sulphate attack. The results of own investigations of cement-bentonite hardening slurry and cement-bentonite-ash hardening slurry prepared with the addition of aggressive liquid, as well as, with tap water and kept in a sulphate ion medium for 1 year are presented. Contamination spreading in non-filtration conditions was modelled. Tests of samples made with tap water and stored in tap water are considered as controls. The paper presents results of tests of liquid slurries properties and results of assessments of hardened slurries. Changes in mass of slurries, compressive and tensile strength and changes in sample storage environment chemistry were measured. Thermographic investigations of slurries were also conducted. The results of investigations and review of literature data on hardening slurries corrosion resistance to sulphate attack are presented. Practical suggestions in relation to the application of cut-off walls made of hardening slurries are made.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to focus on the loss separation of non-grain-oriented electrical steels used for speed-variable rotating electrical machines. The impact of laser-cutting, used in prototype manufacturing and of flux density harmonics, occurring locally in the lamination, on the loss distribution is studied in detail. Iron losses occurring under operation can physically be separated in different loss components. In this paper, a frequency-based loss model with parameters identified for single-sheet tester specimens, cut in strips of different widths, is therefore used. Moreover, a time-domain approach considers loss distributions occurring from higher harmonics. Hysteresis losses having high sensitivity to cut edge effects are calculated by the well-known Jiles-Atherton model adapting the frequency-based loss parameters. The model is validated by free-curve measurements at a single-sheet tester. It has been shown that the studied elliptical hysteresis model becomes inaccurate particularly for specimens with small strip widths with similar dimensions as teeth of electrical machine laminations. The incorrect mapping of losses occurring from minor hysteresis loops due to higher harmonics is concluded. The results showconsequently that both, the impact of a cut edge effect and local distributions of flux density harmonics need to be considered in terms of accurate iron loss prediction of electrical machine design.

Opis:
On August 11−12, 2017, a hurricane passed from south to north of Poland causing considerable damage to forests, especially in regional directorates of the State Forests in Wrocław, Poznań, Toruń, Szczecinek and Gdańsk. By the end of 2018, the volume of wind−broken and wind−fallen trees and deadwood approximated to 9 million m3. In 9 forest districts the harvested volume exceeded 440 thousand m3, including two entities with over 1 million m3 each. The harvested volume was expressed as a percentage of allowable cut, calculated from the stand growth model. It showed possibile timber harvest in final and intermediate cuts in the absence of natural disasters (strong wind, intense drought, heavy snowfall, insect outbreaks, etc.). In many forest districts, timber harvest accounted for 100% of the allowable cut, with the maximum value approximated to 1100% of the allowable cut. The high salvage harvest of post−hurricane timber prevents the execution of other economic tasks, including plans of stand rebuilding. On the example of forest districts with the largest damage, the possibilities of selecting forests classified as the most threatened by wind were examined. The wind damage risk model for the stand was used to determine the value of wind damage risk factor Wr for each stand (values from 0 to 3; the higher value, the higher risk). The damage risk factor allowed to create six damage risk classes of a span of 0.5 each and to assign individual stands to one of the damage classes. The share of the area of stands and damaged stands in Wr classes was also determined. In the Lipusz Forest District the share of stands in VI class of Wr was 9.8%, and the area of damaged stands in this class was 98.3%. In the Rytel and Przymuszewo forest districts, the areal share of such stands was 10.7% and 5.1%, respectively, and almost all stands in this class were damaged by the hurricane. The areal share of forests in the highest Wr class was reported in the Gniezno Forest District accounting for 4.8% and the hurricane damaged 85% of their area. The wind damage risk model for the stand allows to identify forests where damage is very likely to occur. It is, therefore, possible to take action on the rebuilding of stands before the wind comes and thus reduce its negative effects. The cutting plan should include, in the first place, stands classified to the high wind damage risk factor.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to determine the spatial variation of vapour pressure (e), relative humidity (f) and vapour pressure deficit (Δ) on the clear−cut and gap as well as to compare the spatial distribution of air humidity conditions on both areas. The research was carried out in Rogów Forest Experimental Station (51.827023°N, 19.922315°E) on a clear−cut with a width of 60 m and on a gap of an ellipsoid shape (40×70 m). The measurements were carried out in two series: spring−summer, i.e. in the period when the height of the sun during the day conditioned inflow of direct solar radiation to any surface (May−August 2006), and autumn, i.e. when direct radiation was limited by neighbouring stands (October−November 2006). We found the modest spatial diversification of vapour pressure that, on average, amounted to 0.4 and 0.2 hPa in the clear−cut and gap, respectively, in spring−summer period as well as 0.3 and 0.7 hPa, respectively, in the autumn. The major impact of the clear−cut and gap location was marked in relative humidity and humidity deficit. Differences in relative humidity on the clear−cut amounted averagely to 3.7 and on the gap 12.7%, whereas the humidity deficit equalled 0.3 and 5.4 hPa, respectively. Particularly large diversification of relativity humidity and vapour pressure deficit was in spring−summer period in the situation of heat waves. In that weather conditions in sun−filled clear−cut and gap parts, the relativity humidity fall to about 17%, whereas vapour pressure deficit increased to about 60 hPa. In the same clear−cut and gap parts the occurrence of dry days was more frequent that in other places. It was noticed that in the positions located in sun−filled clear−cut and gap parts (z4, g3), the diurnal vapour pressure course was very similar to the one observed in the forest, whereas the course of the relativity humidity and vapour pressure deficit was significantly different. That is mainly involved with the extreme thermal conditions in this parts of the studied areas. The least beneficial humidity conditions for plants growth occurred in the north−east parts of clear−cut and gap, that’s why it necessary to take particular note of these locations when undertaking the silvicultural treatments.

Poetry written for display in 3D digital space presents challenges for blind or visually impaired readers. One approach to making 3D poetry more accessible is to design real-world 3D models of the poetry lines so they can be touched and made audio responsive. The unpredicted effect of making talking tactile poetry models is that they now can be viewed as works of mixed medium art. Some of them have even been accepted into juried tactile art shows, which are becoming more common in national and international art centers, museums, and art galleries. This report explains how 3D laser cutting technology is used to make audio-responsive 3D poetry mixed medium art pieces highlighted by a “Best in Show” award at a national art show in October 2019 for a piece titled “Ferris Haiku”. It is of interest to note that making 3D poetry accessible can also lead to a tactile mixed medium art piece.

The stress concentration observed in the vicinity of cut-outs and holes in structural elements significantly influences the fatigue endurance of machines subjected to cyclic loads. Numerous studies have been made so far to improve this situation and increase the structure lifetime. Several design recommendations have also been worked out to avoid the problem of premature failure. The proposed article illustrates the influence of the composite overlays applied around the cut-outs made in flat steel constructional elements subjected to axial tension. The detailed study concerns the reinforcement made from the FRP (fibre reinforcement polymer) composite applied around the notches. Two types of composite materials were used, namely: TVR 380 M12/R-glass (glass fibres embedded in epoxy resin matrix) and AS4D/9310 (carbon fibres embedded in epoxy resin matrix). In the first step, the detailed numerical studies (finite element analysis) were performed for the steel samples (with no overlays added) with cut-outs made in the form of circle, square and triangle hole (the last two with rounded corners). The results of these studies were compared with the existing analytical solutions with respect to the stress concentration factors (SCF) estimation. The relatively good conformity was observed when using dense meshes of finite elements placed around the void vicinity. In the next step, the composite overlays were applied around cut-outs and their influence on the stress concentration was investigated. The influence of the fibre orientation, numbers of layers, sizes of the composite overlay used were considered. It was proved that the application of composite overlays evidently decreases the stress concentration around the notches.

Orthologic (OL) is non-classical logic and has been studied as a part of quantumlogic. OL is based on an ortholattice and is also called minimal quantum logic. Sequent calculus is used as a tool for proof in logic and has been examinedfor several decades. Although there are many studies on sequent calculus forOL, these sequent calculi have some problems. In particular, they do not includeimplication connective and they are mostly incompatible with the cut-eliminationtheorem. In this paper, we introduce new labeled sequent calculus called LGOI, and show that this sequent calculus solve the above problems. It is alreadyknown that OL is decidable. We prove that decidability is preserved when theimplication connective is added to OL.

To study the block structure of a connected graph G = (V,E), we introduce two algebraic approaches that reflect this structure: a binary operation + called a leap operation and a ternary relation L called a leap system, both on a finite, nonempty set V. These algebraic structures are easily studied by considering their underlying graphs, which turn out to be block graphs. Conversely, we define the operation $+_G$ as well as the set of leaps $L_G$ of the connected graph G. The underlying graph of $+_G$, as well as that of $L_G$, turns out to be just the block closure of G (i.e., the graph obtained by making each block of G into a complete subgraph).

Vertical barrier walls are widely used in environmental control systems to restrict the lateral spreading of liquid or gaseous contaminants and for seepage control through and beneath levees. The barrier walls are constructed in single or two phases using slurry composed mainly of bentonite, cementitious materials and water to maintain the trench stability and finally low hydraulic conductivity of barrier. A turning point in the development of slurry technology arose from research demonstrating the positive effects of blast furnace slag or fly-ashes on slurry properties in terms of reduced hydraulic conductivity. This paper presents the implementation of an experimental section of cut-off wall in the subsoil of a modernised flood embankment along the Vistula River and the results of controlling analyses of applied hardening slurry with an admixture of activated fluidal ashes from hard coal. The results of tests confirm the possibility of practical application of fluidal ashes as active components to hardening slurry and obtaining - depending on the suspension composition - of favourable technological and exploitation properties of this material.
