Opis:
Th e present article approaches the most typical Lithuanian means and methods of folk pedagogy which are aimed at the development of respect for motherhood and positive features of child personality. It becomes obvious that today the traditional folk pedagogy has become not only the object of ethnological studies; many of its elements might also be successfully applied to family and schools‘ teaching practices, next to other endeavours and as a means to the formation of national identity. Th e importance of identity gains even more signifi cance in the rapidly globalising cultural enviroment. Th erefore, some elements of ethnical culture may be effi ciently applied to preschool establishments and schools. While being introduced to the enviroment of traditional culture, the child would unconsciously and easily assimilate moral principles and norms, positive value attitudes, the sense of beauty, creativity in works, respect to the nature and life. Today this could also be excellently combined with the most advanced educational methods. Th e result is twofold: the both pedagogical aspirations will be realised and the national self-awareness will be formed.

Opis:
An author presents in his study the problematique of pedagogy of national culture, based on assumptions (principles, guidelines) of pedagogy of culture. He shows issues, which are resulting (following) from prewar controversy in Polish pedagogy (Zygmunt Mysłakowski, Bogdan Suchodolski, Bogdan Nawroczyński, Kazimierz Sośnicki, Ernest Krieck, Lucjan Zarzecki and others) over it, whether education should be national (ethnical) or public (state)? The author shows possible solutions to this question with references to national minorities and with references to ethnical groups. He indicates the assimiliation, the adaptation (the adaptability) and the acceptance (the approval) in the process (course in action) of cultural integration the national (ethnical) minorities with dominant majority. He indicates „Polish civilization” (term by Feliks Karol Koneczny) as the common ground of agreement (consensus) cultures of national (ethnical) minorities in Poland. He indicates e. g. the problematique of Jewishes, Ukrainians etc. in Poland. He outlines the principles of cultural autonomy, cultural convergence, cultural tolerancy (broadmindedness) and cultural sovereignty of nations (the Europe of Homelands [Big and Little Fatherlands, Motherlands]). He indicates the Christian (Latin) civilization as the base (the basis, foundations) of national (ethnical) cultures in the West Europe. He shows the problem of national (ethnic) cultures (as the minorities) within the framework of the state coming into being (the European Union). He shows Austria-Hungarn as the historical example of the multinational (multiethnic) state. He outlines the problematique of national (ethnical) minorities based on depiction of the Second Vatican Council (the Roman-Catholic Church). The author describes the rules of non-equivalence (non-equivalency) of cultures, formulated by Polish professor Stefan Szuman (in years 1940-1943). The author describes selected comments (statements) of blessed John Paul the Second, concerning national (ethnical) minorities, formulated in The World Day of Peace Adress (1989) and e. g. conceptions of identity of national (ethnical) cultures and identity of cultural minorities in Poland in process of changes (the Pope”s comments from the book tittled The Memory and the Identity by John Paul the Second, 2005).

E-learning used to be characterized as the future of education. Now it becomes education’s present. It creates many new possibilities, but there appear new problems along with them. When looking for the best contemporary formula for distance learning, it is worth to refer to the pedagogy of culture. It influenced European pedagogical thought in the first half of 20th century, in Poland its height fell on the second half of the 20th century. Pedagogy of culture is a kind of pedagogical humanism, deeply rooted in European philosophical thought. In this context a man is a cultural person, that experiences and creates new values. The basis of education should be the contact with goods of culture, interiorization, creating new ideas and shaping personality. These ideals should light up the issues of distance learning, help formulate its long-term goals and plan how to shape students’ personality. Human values should be recognized the most important and basic, regardless of the form of learning.

This article aims to highlight a key paradox in the life of a Hungarian writer Sándor Márai, who, as a European intellectual, defender of the humanistic continental tradition, was forced to emigrate to the United States. After the Allied victory in 1945, the Americans, as predicted by John Dewey in his autobiography, thought that Europe was to become a simple province of their nation, emerged with the Declaration of Independence of July 4, 1776, which proclaimed the pursuit of happiness as a human right. Since the old Europe, based on culture, civilization, and education disappeared, its foundations had to be restored on an economic basis by the European Coal and SteelCommunity. The new Europe was made possible by the treaty signed by Adenauer and de Gaulle, who, like Márai, were suspicious of the Soviet Union, and its modern and materialistic worldview, which collapsed in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall, nine months after Márai’s deat

The paper presents the results of quantitative research using the diagnostic poll method, carried out as part of an international project which involved 440 teacher students from the Polish-Belarusian borderland. The research focused on self-assessed level of information management, team work skills, and recognition of one’s own time perspective. The text only refers to one aspect of the competence, i.e., attitude to time. The findings show that the participants function in three temporal dimensions. The majority of the respondents are future-oriented. More than half of them sometimes waste time doing something meaningless. The vast majority of the students act upon the belief that what will happen to them in the future only depends on their effort, but many also declare a fatalistic attitude to life and the belief they have made wrong decisions in the past. In the article, we suggest the need to equip young people with instruments allowing them to create themselves, their lives and the world around them in the context of the foresight concept.
