Jest ono już nie tylko systemem o określonych funkcjach, ale także związkiem, którego cechy i sposób funkcjonowania są w istotnym stopniu regulowane przez wartości i normy kulturowe. Koncepcje wartości kulturowych stanowią dobrą podstawę interpretacji życia małżeńskiego w kontekście porównań różnych systemów wartości. Wyjaśniają one, jak definiowana jest miłość jako ważna zasada doboru w pary i jak kształtują się relacje małżeńskie (władza, atrakcyjność wzajemna, komunikowanie się, konflikty i negocjacje), szczególnie w przypadku małżeństw wielokulturowych, do których partnerzy wnoszą różne doświadczenia i tradycje.
The development of culture psychology and intercultural studies provides new tools for describing and analysing the institution of marriage. It is not any longer only a system of specified functions but also a relation of which the features and the way of functioning is largely regulated by cultural values and norms. The concepts of cultural values constitute a good foundation for interpreting marital life in the context of comparisons between various systems of values. They explain how love is defined as an important principle of couple matching and how marital relations are shaped (power, mutual attractiveness, communication, conflicts and negotiations), especially in the case of multicultural marriages, into which partners bring in different experiences and traditions.

The aim of this paper is to present the cultural psychology project formulated by Florian Znaniecki. In the first part of the article, the authoress reconstructs the origin of this concept by reviewing the scholar’s early philosophical writings. In the second and third part of this paper, the authoress focuses on presenting the basic categories of Znaniecki’s theory such as culture, culturalism and cultural action and highlights the role of cultural psychology in his scientific system.

The meaning of the notion of martial arts is very extensive. It concerns many phenomena at the plane of culture, psychology, science of physical culture and other fields. The object of this work is to present the widely - understood martial arts regarded as the leading motif in many film genres - some representations were supposed to scare a viewer, some others to entertain. In this interpretation sketch we draw attention to an important role of a film as a medium that inspires people to undertake some activi ties, popularizes a healthy life - style, and remains the source of entertainment and knowledge about the culture of the Far East. The following films have undergone analysis: Enter the Dragon (1973, directed by B. Lee, R. Clouse), Crouching Tiger, Hidden D ragon 2000, directed by A Lee), Shaolin Soccer (2001, directed by S. Chow) and Beverly Hills Ninja (1997, directed by D. Dugan).

From close to its inception, St. Augustine’s misunderstanding of the nature of ancient Greek philosophy, “Christian philosophy,” and the way the human soul essentially relates to human body caused formal Christian education to be (a) born in a somewhat unhealthy condition, (b) founded upon a devastating mistake of organizational self-misunderstanding, which essentially prevented it from comprehending how human reason could function both abstractly as a contemplative (or speculative) scientific intellect and concretely as a command and control prudential reason. This flaw in Augustinian psychology of the human person and Augustine’s misunderstanding of the nature of ancient Greek philosophy continued to influence Christian education from the start of the Christian West until the Christian and secular universities of today. For contemporary Christian education to preserve its identity in an increasingly fragmented world, a psychology of the human person adequate to explain the essential connection between the human soul and body and the nature of philosophy must replace this flawed Augustinian psychology that continues to plague the contemporary world.

The article presents the review of existing research on the role of psychic distance in the process of companies internationalization (both secondary and primary). The main attention was dedicated to the measurement of this phenomenon. The concept of psychic distance was compared to cultural distance, they are used interchangeably in the article. The objective of the paper was also to discuss the conceptual and methodological properties of psychic (cultural) distance: the illusion of symmetry, stability, linearity, causality, discordance, as well as the assumption of corporate and spatial homogeneity and the assumption of equivalence. The last part of the article is dedicated to the examples of research examining the role of psychic (cultural) distance in decisions of: choosing market entry mode (export versus foreign direct investment; acquisitions versus green field investment), choosing the level of strategy adaptation to local market conditions and decisions concerning other fields of international business.

The article aims at focusing attention at selected aspects of pop culture which may, from the point of view of evolutionary psychologists, be deemed approximate to animal proto-cultures and social systems observed among the three-year-olds, i.e. — people who have not yet developed a psychological skill called “theory of mind”. The Author tries to point out that elements of proto-culture in the time of pop -industry development gain on dominance, as a result of which the quality of culture creating processes as well as culture transmission processes may be different than, let’s say, fifty years ago. It is not only about the mass media, but it is most of all about deep psychological processes which are the basis for understanding the essence of culture and participation in culture. In other words, the author tries to argue that norms, ideas and values, i.e. what culture is made of in general — are understood and disseminated in ways which are different in quality from the ones prevailing in the past.

W artykule omówiono zagadnienia kultury bezpieczeństwa oraz różne uwarunkowania sprawności kierowcy. Sprawne zachowanie kierowcy zależy od trzech warunków: 1) trafnej oceny samego siebie i sytuacji drogowej, 2) podejmowania właściwych decyzji oraz 3) sprawnych manewrów. Sprawność kierowcy zależy m.in. od wieku, cech osobowościowo-temperamentalnych, doświadczenia, zmęczenia lub monotonii.
This article presents safety culture issues and various conditions to efficiency of drivers. Efficient behavior of drivers depends on three conditions: 1) adequate self-evaluation and evaluation of the situation on the road, 2) taking the right decisions 3) efficient manoeuvers. Efficiency of drivers depends, for example, on: age, personal and temperamental traits, experience, fatigue and monotony.

The article seeks to defamiliarize coaching practices based on the premises of positive psy- chology that were the focus of the author’s inquiry during ethnographic research among the Polish community of professional coaches and their clients: managers, entrepreneurs and university teachers. The author argues that coaching practices equip individuals with tools to cope with the social and personal risks associated with living conditions of late-capitalism. These practices are also a space within which we fase the circulation of affects and the power of desires that support capitalist regimes of productivity and, consequently, produce a neoliberal psyche (neoliberal type of subjectivity). In this paper, the author aims to answer the following questions: how do people participating in a coaching process govern themselves (construct, negotiate or contest their own self) by means of affective movements? What is the persuasive dimension of the affective work on self undertaken by coachees that results in subjectification and/or objectification along the lines of neoliberal rationality? And finally: how is the affective-rhetorical process of embodying the neoliberal type of governance manifested in coaching? The answers to these questions have been developed based on the findings of affect theory and rhetoric culture theory.

Co decyduje o tym czy zachowujemy się bezpiecznie, czy zbyt ryzykownie lub czasami nawet bezmyślnie. Jakie cechy człowieka o tym decydują oraz jakie sytuacje sprzyjają takim zachowaniom. W artykule omówiono tylko niektóre uwarunkowania zachowań bezpiecznych, jak: lęk, cechy temperamentu, poziom doświadczenia zawodowego oraz ogólna kultura bezpieczeństwa.
Statistics show that inappropriate approximately 50% of the total number of accidents. What determines our safe or too risky even mindless behavior? Which human traits and what situations are conductive to such behaviors? This article discusses some determinants of safe behaviors: anxiety, temperamental traits, occupational experience and general safety culture.

Negative sexuality as a passive social attitude Negative sexuality is a sexuality that isn’t a part of feeling of identity and self-acceptance. It is burdened with feelings of shame, guilt and threat. In Polish society there is an atmosphere of negative sexuality. There is a lack of tolerance towards diversity and sexual freedom, understood as free expression of the self. It is a situation which threatens the psychological well-being. The deprecation and normativization of human sexuality is ensnarled in relations of power which petrify the social status quo. That leads to totalitarian management of our sexuality and maintenance of that status due to psychological mechanisms of submitting to totalitarian powers. To show these processes I refer to such thinkers as Michel Foucault, Erich Fromm, Theodor Adorno, Wilhelm Reich and Karen Horney.Such reality is also a result of social processes which shaped it. Influential here were the processes related to power and culture. Negative templates have been present in our culture for long time, a fact which I exemplify by analyzing Polish culture through the Polish cinema of the People’s Republic period. Today, passive social attitudes have resulted in continued cultivating of these negative social norms.I show alternatives to the atmosphere of negative sexuality, describing the movement for positive sexuality and its benefits for psychological health of individuals and society. While I throw doubt on the possibility of a popularization of queer theory in Poland, I also show some universal strategies of resistance against those exercising power over human sexuality. I describe the phenomenon of bioresistance and freeing physicality drawing on the example of works by Krzysztof Pacewicz about the theories of Michel Foucault and Giorgio Agamben. In more practical terms, I analyze the present condition of sexual education anti-discrimination movements in Poland.In my work I want to show that a sexually positive life attitude, which means a life of acceptance of oneself and others and creation of a nonviolent space, enables universal self-acceptance and self-development. It is also a proactive social attitude because it requires intellectual and political involvement in regard to emerging reality. I believe that positive sexuality supported by positive sex-ed and social involvement is a very important element of resistance against power relations.  Negatywna seksualność jako bierna postawa społecznaNegatywna seksualność to seksualność, która nie składa się na poczucie tożsamości i samoakceptacji. Jest obarczona wstydem, poczuciem winy i zagrożenia. W polskim społeczeństwie panuje atmosfera negatywnej seksualności. Brak jest tolerancji dla różnorodności i wolności seksualnej rozumianej jako swobodna ekspresja siebie. Jest to sytuacja, która zagraża dobrostanowi psychicznemu. Deprecjonowanie i normatywizowanie ludzkiej seksualności jest uwikłane w relacje władzy, które petryfikują dany stan społeczny. Prowadzi to do totalitarnego zagospodarowania naszej seksualności i utrzymywania tego stanu dzięki psychicznym mechanizmom ulegania władzy totalitarnej. By pokazać te procesy, przywołuję myślicieli i myślicielki takie jak Michel Foucault, Erich Fromm, Theodor Adorno, Wilhelm Reich i Karen Horney.Taka rzeczywistość jest też rezultatem procesów społecznych, które ją ukształtowały. Miały na to wpływ procesy związane z władzą i kulturą. Negatywne wzorce są obecne w naszej kulturze od dawna. Polską kulturę analizuję przez pryzmat kina polskiego epoki PRL-u. Kultywowanie tych negatywnych norm społecznych to bierna postawa społeczna.Pokazuję alternatywy dla atmosfery negatywnej seksualności. Opisuję ruch pozytywnej seksualności i jego zalety dla zdrowia psychicznego jednostki i społeczeństwa.Poddaję w wątpliwość możliwość popularyzowania teorii queer w Polsce. Pokazuję pewne uniwersalne strategie oporu wobec władzy nad ludzką seksualnością. Opisuję zjawisko biooporu i uwalniania cielesności na przykładzie pracy Krzysztofa Pacewicza o teoriach Michela Foucaulta i Giorgio Agambena. Analizuję kondycję edukacji seksualnej i ruchów antydyskryminacyjnych w Polsce w czasie teraźniejszym.Moja praca ma pokazać, że sekspozytywna postawa życiowa, czyli akceptacja siebie i innych oraz tworzenie bezprzemocowej przestrzeni umożliwia powszechną samoakceptację i samorozwój. Jest jednocześnie aktywną postawą społeczną, ponieważ wymaga zaangażowania intelektualnego i politycznego we wpływaniu na zastaną rzeczywistość. Uważam, że pozytywna seksualność, wspierana pozytywną edukacją seksualną i zaangażowaniem społecznym, to bardzo istotny element oporu wobec relacji władzy.

The article is an attempt to reflect on the current tasks faced by clinical psychology as a field of science and practice. These tasks stem from the constant need to improve the scientific level of this discipline and to solve problems connected with intensive social changes. We have considered the issues of globalization and the challenges it implies for clinical psychology, presenting selected theories of globalization and the patterns of reaction to these changes. We see evidence-based practice in psychology as a reflection of these transformations in science and clinical practice. In the article, we discuss the positive influence of this approach on the improvement of assessment practice standards and psychotherapy effectiveness, drawing attention to some negative consequences of universalization, particularly those that threaten human agency. Addressing and responding to these challenges requires close cooperation of researchers and practitioners, which was called for at the 1st National Clinical Psychology Conference in 2014.

Critique of culture is one of the biggest parts of philosophy/psychology created by Carl Gustav Jung. Jung was witness of World War I and World War II, his thought was deeply influenced by writings of F. Nietzsche, who assured us that we (modern people) are sentenced to Age of nihilism. Jung seemed to take over this belief, developing it inside his own philosophical system. In Jung’s way of thinking Age of nihilism turned into a monumental discourse about New Age, where overgrown Enlightment’ Reason must abdicate, leaving its position to The Age of new spirituality. In my paper I’m trying to present thought of The Swiss psychologist as an apocalyptical prophecy, but not only apocalyptical. My aim is to find bright beam among this very pessimistic part of his oeuvre.

Artykuł odwołuje się do ustaleń psychologii, zwłaszcza eksperymentalnej psychologii społecznej, jak też socjologii i antropologii kulturowej. Zarysowuje i ilustruje na wybranych przykładach osobliwości uniwersaliów psychologicznych pozbawionych umocowania biologicznego. Jak się argumentuje, są one wytworami przydatności atrybutów lub mechanizmów psychicznych w adaptacjach kulturowych do środowiska naturalnego. Takie powszechniki o kulturowej genezie nie mają odpowiedników w naukach nomotetycznych. Zwykle pojawiają się w rozmaitych kontekstach kulturowych czy historycznych z różną częstością i intensywnością, czasem pełnią tam odmienne funkcje. W rezultacie opisujące je teorie psychologii społecznej nieuchronnie różnią się od teorii charakterystycznych dla nauk przyrodniczych, które bywają spostrzegane przez psychologów społecznych jako niedościgniony ideał.
The paper builds on settlements of psychology, especially of experimental social psychology, and refers to sociology and cultural anthropology as well. It outlines and illustrate by selected examples the peculiarities of psychological universals without biological foundations. It is argued that they are the results of usefulness of psychological attributes/mechanisms in cultural adaptations to natural environment. The universals of cultural genesis do not have the equivalents in the nomothetical sciences. They usually appear in various cultural/historical contexts with varying frequency and intensity, and sometimes perform there diverse functions. Accordingly, the social psychology theories that focus on such universals unavoidably differ from the theories typical of natural sciences, which are perceived by social psychologists as the matchless ideal.

Opis:
According to the classical approach culture is the opposite of nature, and man, as a world-transforming being, is the engine of civilization development. C. G. Jung's writings contain a non-classical concept of culture, according to which the collective unconscious determines the way of interpreting and understanding reality, and thus the development of culture. The psychiatrist considers man as a symbol-forming creature. He wrote about the "symbol drive" which causes the creation of symbols to happen spontaneously. There is a connection between the action of instincts, which have a biological basis, and the archetypal source of symbols. There are forces of nature in the unconscious - in particular, the libido and instincts. Culture arises between the unconscious and consciousness, and at the same time, the process of its development has a species-specific aspect.
Zgodnie z klasycznym podejściem kultura jest przeciwieństwem natury, a człowiek jako istota przekształcająca świat jest motorem rozwoju cywilizacji. Pisma C. G. Junga zawierają nieklasyczną koncepcję kultury, zgodnie z którą nieświadomość zbiorowa determinuje sposób interpretacji i rozumienia rzeczywistości, a tym samym rozwój kultury. Psychiatra uważał człowieka za istotę tworzącą symbole. Pisał o „popędzie symbolu”, który sprawia, że powstają one spontanicznie. Istnieje związek między działaniem instynktów, które mają podłoże biologiczne, a archetypowym źródłem symboli. W nieświadomości tkwią siły natury – w szczególności popęd libido i instynkty. Kultura powstaje pomiędzy nieświadomością a świadomością, a przy tym proces jej rozwoju ma aspekt gatunkowy.

The main aim of this article is a draft of so-called psychology of cultural participation by Krystyna Zamiara, which is based on a sample of overcoming a cognitive perspective typical of psychological research participation of individuals in a culture and an extremely anti-individualistic, anti-psychologist perspective typical of cultural sciences, represented in this article by social-regulational concept of culture by Jerzy Kmita. As a result of overcoming limitations deriving from the two extreme points of view, would become possible to determine an area of effective cooperation between them in the research of cultural participation.
