The Kharkiv text of Ukrainian literature is examined for the first time from the point of view of a cross‑cultural analysis of the iconic work by H. Kvitka‑Osnovʹyanenko The Foundation of Kharkiv. The expediency for introducing this concept into academic circulation is argued for because of the traditional covering of Kharkiv and Sloboda Ukraine in literature, culture, and history. Substantiated are the conditions and specifics of the integral text about the city and the formation of identity under the influence of frontier psychology. Emphasized are the differences between the creation of national stereotypes and the birth of an independent worldview, and postcolonial experience.

В статье рассматриваются педагогический, культуроведческий, лингвистический и библиологический подходы к анализу учебников русского языка для иностранцев. Приводятся примеры научных исследований учебников XVIII века, выполненных с позиций указанных подходов. Делается вывод о необходимости комплексного подхода к изучению учебников.
The article discusses pedagogical, cultural studies, linguistic and bibiological approaches to the analysis of Russian textbooks. Examples of scientific studies of textbooks of the XVIII century, made from the standpoint of these approaches, are given. The conclusion is made about the need for an integrated approach to the study of textbooks.
Artykuł podejmuje próbę analizy podręczników języka rosyjskiego dla cudzoziemców aspekcie pedagogicznym, kulturoznawczym, lingwistycznym oraz bibliologicznym. Przytaczane są przykłady podręczników XVIII wieku; wyprowadzony jest wniosek o konieczności kompleksowego podejścia do badań nad podręcznikami.

Opis:
Industrial policy plays a great role in modern strategies of economic development due to global challenges and increasing world competition. The goal of the paper is the determination of institutional factors of industrial policy implementation and groups of countries with the similar institutional environment using cluster analysis. The institutional determinants defining industrial development include cultural values (indulgence vs restraint, long-term orientation vs short-term orientation), prevalence of Putnam’s social groups, governance effectiveness and democracy regime, low level of corruption, efficient legislation, liberal base of economy, and high level of property rights protection. These determinants can be represented in 8 world indicators calculated by international organizations and G. Hofstede: 1) the level of society liberalization score; 2) society long-term orientation score; 3) Democracy Index; 4) Corruption Perception Index; 5) Property Rights Index; 6) Ease of Doing Business Rank; 7) Institutions index as a component of Global Index of Competitiveness; 8) Government Effectiveness (WGI). On the appropriate data of 76 countries of the world we obtained 9 clusters of countries with similar institutional parameters for industrial policy implementation. 2 groups contain highly developed countries; 4 groups contain predominantly transformation economies, and 3 groups consist of developing countries with low and low-middle income. As it turned out these countries have also similar macroeconomic indicators and some other institutional aspects like religion and trust in government. The distinction of countries on their institutional indicators is a base for development of the certain type of industrial policy (technological modernization, innovative, protectionism etc.), which is aimed on the dynamic industrial development.

Kultura interpretowana jest na wiele sposobów, w tym rozumie się ją jako dobro publiczne i jeden z obszarów życia społecznego, w którym powinna być realizowana polityka publiczna. Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje problematykę współpracy władz lokalnych z interesariuszami w zakresie polityki kulturalnej. Rozważania umiejscowiono na poziomie miasta, które pełni kluczową funkcję w planowaniu i dostarczaniu usług społecznych, w tym kulturalnych. Aktualnie jako najbardziej efektywny sposób dostarczania usług społecznych postrzega się współpracę, dlatego należy poszukiwać różnorodnych możliwości wsparcia i form współdziałania władzy lokalnej z aktorami ich otoczenia. Celem podjętych badań była analiza otoczenia miasta jako podmiotu polityki kulturalnej. Poszukiwano w nich odpowiedzi na pytanie, z jakimi podmiotami otoczenia władze miasta mogą podejmować współpracę w dziedzinie kultury? Do realizacji tego celu zastosowano metodę analizy interesariuszy z wykorzystaniem danych gromadzonych na drodze analizy dokumentów oraz obserwacji nieuczestniczącej. W efekcie zidentyfikowano aż 14 grup interesariuszy stanowiących ważnych potencjalnych partnerów dla władz miasta w obszarze kultury. Współpraca z nimi może przyczynić się nie tylko do zwiększania ilości i jakości działań w obszarze kultury w mieście, ale także do lokalnego rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego oraz wzrostu jakości życia w mieście.
Culture is interpreted in many ways, among other as a public good and one of the areas of social life in which public policy should be implemented. This article addresses the issues of cooperation between local authorities and the stakeholders in the field of cultural policy. The considerations are located at the city level, which plays a key role in the planning and providing social services, including cultural ones. Cooperation is currently perceived as the most effective way of providing social services, therefore it is necessary to look for various forms of support and types of cooperation between local authorities and their stakeholders. The aim of the research was to analyze the city’s environment, considering the city as a subject of cultural policy. The research question was: With which stakeholders the city authorities can cooperate in the field of culture? The method of stakeholder analysis using data collected through document analysis and non-participant observation was used for this purpose. As a result, 14 groups of stakeholders were identified as important potential partners for the city’s authorities in the field of culture. Cooperation with them can contribute not only to increasing the number and quality of activities in the field of culture in the city, but also to local socioeconomic development and the quality of life in the city.

Przedmiotem rozważań artykułu jest krajobraz kulturowy miasta oraz wpływ religii chrześcijańskiej (Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego) na ten krajobraz. W artykule przedstawiono rezultaty badań własnych, których celem było określenie wpływu obiektów sakralnych i elementów małej architektury sakralnej na strukturę przestrzenną i tożsamość krajobrazu południowej Warszawy. Badania obejmowały: analizę okresu, okoliczności powstania i zasięgu parafii oraz wyboru lokalizacji kościołów, określenie układu krajobrazowego i struktury przestrzennej parafii oraz ocenę znaczenia krajobrazowego zespołów kościelnych jako dominant krajobrazowych. Badania pokazały, że wpływ architektury sakralnej na strukturę przestrzenną i tożsamość krajobrazu jest nadal czytelny.
Scope of the article is urban cultural landscape and the influence of the Christian religion (Roman Catholic Church) on the landscape. In the article, results of the author’s research were presented. The research was aimed to determine the influence of the sacral buildings and elements of small architecture on the southern Warsaw landscape spatial structure and identity. The research consists of: analysis of period, circumstances of parishes establishment and delimitation of their borders and church location selection, determination of the parishes landscape composition and spatial structure, evaluation of landscape meaning of the church complexes as landscape dominants. The research showed that the sacral architecture influence on landscape spatial structure and identity is still visible.

The present study examined the genre of Iraqi wedding invitation cards (WICs) in terms of its textual and visual components, and the impact of the social norms and assumptions on the articulation of these components. Drawing upon three analytic tools, namely, genre analysis proposed by Swales (1990) and Bhatia (2004), semiotic analysis suggested by Kress and Van Leeuwen (2001), and critical discourse analysis advocated by Fairclough (2010), a sample of 250 WICs was selected to be considered for analysis. Corpus analysis showed that Iraqi WICs varied in terms of their non-linguistic features like printed forms, colors, layouts, calligraphy, graphics, and paper materials. On the other hand, the underlying schematic organization of Iraqi WICs was built around seven component moves. Furthermore, Islamic religious beliefs and Iraqi socio-cultural system were clearly encoded in these wedding invitation texts affecting their organization structure.

This article is an example of the practical application of natural video recordings to qualitative research. It describes the videographic method in relation to an ongoing project concerned with forms of knowledge communication within the field of migration. In this field, our visual approach provides a novel perspective on the well-known questions of cross-cultural communication and integration. Firstly, I want to discuss Videography and Genre Analysis in the form of an iterative, audiovisual data collection procedure and define the process of sequence selection and interpretation. Secondly, I will demonstrate how communicative structures are analyzed at different levels of Genre Analysis through the minute analysis of a short audiovisual data sequence from a roadshow that took place during a Latin American theme week. As well as detailing the process of gathering information on a situational level, I want to demonstrate the potential of the analysis to gather information about the structural environment on a transsituational level. Through this discussion, I will also outline the importance of additional contextual information that – by means of further ethnographic research – could be uncovered in our fieldwork.

Military conflicts have symbolic foundations. Be it religion, identity, values, or language, they all may serve as ‘weapons of war’ that either help to rationalize the military action or mobilize the nation. The Russian-Ukrainian war is no exception. The ongoing conflict exceeds the premises of a geo-political game or a socioeconomic ambition and proves itself to be deeply entrenched in a cultural conflict between the two countries. Therefore, the thrust of the paper is to explore the cultural-historical context of the Russia-Ukraine war.Russian imperialistic desires have been whetted by neo-romantic historical narration for the past two decades. The article comprises of two parts – historical and empirical. When the former depicts the history of direct imperial Russian rule over Ukraine, then the latter is a critical overview of Polish press materials commenting on the change in the Russian political discourse concerning Ukraine in the years 2013–2014 and 2022. Such an analysis sheds different light on the current Russian-Ukrainian war, but it also indicates that the conflict we are witnessing now has been carefully prepared on both military and socio-political levels.

Folklore phraseology was a inexhaustible source of linguistic measures for Ivan Kotliarevsky, as it allowed him to build humorous and satirical effects through introducing into his literary works colloquial, dialectal and jocular set phrases. The aim of this paper is to undertake comparative analysis of set phrases in the original and in the Polish translation of Eneyida in order to point out similarities and differences in these two languages. The author focuses on the translation strategies implemented to translate set phrases, and analysing particular non-phraseme word connections which very often replace set phrases in the target text.

The outlining of the values appreciated by academic youth and their perception of the possibilities of implementing and fulfilling them was based on the international comparative research conducted in 2019–2021 in the Polish-Czech-Slovak-Ukrainian borderland. In the pedagogical analysis undertaken in the study of this subject matter, some theoretical and methodological conceptualizations were applied, which referred to: (1) Ronald F. Inglehart’s concept of changes of values, (2) the objectivistic approach to values and axiological maturity according to Adam Węgrzecki and (3) comparative analysis in international studies. Comparing the declarations of student groups in the investigated environments reveals significant differences in all value assessments, except for the implementation of moral values and a respectable life. The analysis and interpretation of the collected empirical material also indicate that the image of university students’ axiological preferences is characterized – in the context of Inglehart’s theory – mainly by secular-rational authority and post-materialism aimed at achieving a particular quality of life.

The article describes the role of the press in constructing the cultural strategies of war on the example from the conflict in the Republic of Tajikistan (1992-1997). On the basis of qualitative analysis newspapers published in Russian and Tajik we present one of these strategies - the efforts of the key factions of the conflict (the post-communists, the democratic opposition, the Islamic opposition) to convince Tajik society to a certain, designated vision of a new, independent Tajikistan.

Opis:
This paper presents a teaching innovation that has proved successful in stimulating the in-class participation and learning effectiveness of Asian students. The sample population of the research was the teachers and the students of universities in Taiwan and Mainland China. Convenience sampling was used. Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) was used to explore the feedback of learning course. The research results showed that (1) students in Taiwan and Mainland China both have a good confience in attendance and teamwork projects at the beginning of the course and; (2) Taiwanese students are confient in their own creativity and application ability at the beginning of the course and students from Mainland China have a regular habit of reading relevant marketing books.

The educational and cultural dimension is a multivariate category, characterized by many attributes (e.g. number of students and academic teachers, educational institutions, library readers, library borrowers and visitors to the museums, etc.). This means the possibility of perceiving regions as objects of multidimensional statistical analysis, and ordering them according to a certain criterion. The paper presents the similarities and differences between selected cities of the Lower Silesia region with a population of over 30,000 inhabitants in the educational and cultural scope. For this purpose, a set of diagnostic variables (stimulants and destimulants) was defined. This allowed specifying the most and least differences between the surveyed objects and consequently the order of the cities from the best city to the worst one. Finally, this allowed the creation of the educational and cultural ranking of Lower Silesian cities

Opis:
Celem publikacji jest weryfikacja polityki programowej telewizji publicznej oraz analiza audycji dla mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych oraz społeczności posługującej się językiem regionalnym w programach ogólnokrajowych Telewizji Polskiej S.A.: TVP1 i TVP2, TVP3 Regionalna, TVP Info, TVP Regionalna oraz na antenach ośrodków regionalnych TVP w 2003 oraz w 2013 r. Po wstępnych rozważaniach terminologicznych (tożsamość kulturowa, mniejszości narodowe, mniejszości etniczne, język regionalny) przedstawiono podstawy prawne ochrony dostępu mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych do programów telewizji publicznej. Następnie dokonano ilościowej analizy zawartości oraz jakościowej analizy treści wspomnianych audycji w programach telewizji publicznej w 2003 oraz 2013 r. Odrębne analizy ilościowe i jakościowe zostały przeprowadzone dla audycji nadawanych w programach ogólnopolskich (Program 1, Program 2 TVP S.A.) oraz TVP Info (w tym pasmo wspólne oraz oddziały regionalne telewizji publicznej). Przedstawiono także wyniki monitoringu w zakresie przedmiotowych audycji, wyemitowanych w OTV Białystok oraz w OTV Gdańsk. Artykuł kończą podsumowujące wnioski. W artykule zastosowano metodę analityczno-opisową, ilościową analizę zawartości oraz jakościową analizę treści.
The aim of the publication is a verification of public television program policy and analysis content of broadcasts for national and ethnic minorities and community using the regional language in nationwide programs of Polish Television: TVP1 and TVP2, TVP3 Regional, TVP Info, TVP Regional and regional TVP centers in 2003 and 2013. After a preliminary discussion of terminology (cultural identity, national minorities, ethnic minorities, regional language), the article presents the legal basis for the protection of access to public television of national minorities and ethnic minorities. Subsequently, the paper analyzes the share of the aforementioned broadcasts in the public television programs in 2003 and 2013. Separate analyzes are conducted for broadcasts in 2004 and 2013, in nationwide programs (Program 1, Program 2 of TVP S.A.) and TVP Info (including the common band and regional branches of public television). The article presents also the results of the monitoring program of the broadcasts in question, issued by Polish Television TVP Gdańsk and TVP Białystok. The article ends with summary conclusions. The method of the paper involves descriptive analytical, content analysis and quantitative analysis.
