A map (= continuous function) is of order ≤ k if each of its point-inverses has at most k elements. Following [4], maps of order ≤ 2 are called simple.
 Which maps are compositions of simple closed [open, clopen] maps? How many simple maps are really needed to represent a given map? It is proved herein that every closed map of order ≤ k defined on an n-dimensional metric space is a composition of (n+1)k-1 simple closed maps (with metric domains). This theorem fails to be true for non-metrizable spaces. An appropriate map on a Cantor cube of uncountable weight is described.

We show that the strong dual X' to an infinite-dimensional nuclear (LF)-space is homeomorphic to one of the spaces: $ℝ^ω$, $ℝ^∞$, $Q×ℝ^∞$, $ℝ^ω×ℝ^∞$, or $(ℝ^∞)^ω$, where $ℝ^∞ = lim ℝ^n$ and $Q=[-1,1]^ω$. In particular, the Schwartz space D' of distributions is homeomorphic to $(ℝ^∞)^ω$. As a by-product of the proof we deduce that each infinite-dimensional locally convex space which is a direct limit of metrizable compacta is homeomorphic either to $ℝ^∞$ or to $Q×ℝ^∞$. In particular, the strong dual to any metrizable infinite-dimensional Montel space is homeomorphic either to $ℝ^∞$ or to $Q×ℝ^∞$.

Opis:
Celem pracy było określenie wpływu aktywności wody na właściwości reologiczne kostek jabłka suszonych sublimacyjnie. Suszone kostki jabłka były przechowywane w środowiskach, których aktywność wody wynosiła 0,328; 0,432; 0,648 i 0,810. Po zadanym okresie przechowywania poddawano je testowi kompresji-relaksacji. Stwierdzono, że aktywność wody w istotny sposób kształtowała właściwości mechaniczne liofilizowanych jabłek. Podwyższona aktywność wody działała uplastyczniająco na badany materiał i powodowała załamanie jego struktury. Wraz ze wzrostem aktywności wody malała praca potrzebna do odkształcenia kostek jabłka o 50% ich wysokości, zmniejszała się siła niezbędna do odkształcenia materiału, malał udział elementu sprężystego we właściwościach mechanicznych oraz zmniejszała się twardość materiału. W przedziale aktywności wody 0,45-0,55 relaksacja zachodziła najszybciej i w największym stopniu.
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of water activity on rheological properties of freeze- dried apple cubes. Dried product was stored in desiccators with water activity of 0.328; 0.432; 0.648 and 0.810. Following prescribed storage time the cubes were subjected to a compression-relaxation test. It was noted that the water activity significantly affected mechanical properties of lyophilized apples. An increase in water activity caused the increase of plasticity of the analyzed material, which resulted in a compaction of structure. Along with an increase in water activity there was a decrease in the work required for deformation of the apple cubes by 50% of their height, a decrease in the force necessary for the deformation of the material, as well as a decrease in the elasticity factor and a decrease in the hardness of the material. In the water activity range from 0.45 to 0.55 the relaxation of the material was the fastest and at the highest degree.

This paper concerns when the complete graph on n vertices can be decomposed into d-dimensional cubes, where d is odd and n is even. (All other cases have been settled.) Necessary conditions are that n be congruent to 1 modulo d and 0 modulo $2^d$. These are known to be sufficient for d equal to 3 or 5. For larger values of d, the necessary conditions are asymptotically sufficient by Wilson's results. We prove that for each odd d there is an infinite arithmetic progression of even integers n for which a decomposition exists. This lends further weight to a long-standing conjecture of Kotzig.

The Θ-graph Θ(G) of a partial cube G is the intersection graph of the equivalence classes of the Djoković-Winkler relation. Θ-graphs that are 2-connected, trees, or complete graphs are characterized. In particular, Θ(G) is complete if and only if G can be obtained from K₁ by a sequence of (newly introduced) dense expansions. Θ-graphs are also compared with familiar concepts of crossing graphs and τ-graphs.

Badano wpływ rodzaju rozdrobnionego surowca owocowo-warzywnego na dynamikę jego wysychania. Surowiec stanowiły kostki (0,01x0,01x0,01 m) otrzymane z ziemniaków, marchwi oraz jabłek. Krajankę suszono w laboratoryjnej suszarce fontannowej. Pomiary przeprowadzano przy stałej prędkości czynnika suszącego v=5ms-1, temperaturze t=80°C oraz wysokości statycznej złoża w komorze suszenia Ho=0,1m. Wyznaczono krzywe suszenia oraz wielkości średniego strumienia wilgoci z jednostki objętości komory suszarki dla każdego z surowców. Wyniki przedstawiono w postaci wykresów oraz równań korelacyjnych.
The researchers examined the impact of shredded fruit and vegetable raw material type on the dynamics of its drying. Cubes (0.01x0.01x0.01m) made of potatoes, carrots and apples were used as the raw material. Cut material was dried in a laboratory fountain drier. The measurements were carried out at constant drying medium speed v=5ms-1, temperature t=80°C, and the bed static height in drying chamber Ho=0,1m. The research allowed to determine drying curves and values of average humidity stream from drier chamber volume unit for each raw material type. The results have been shown in form of diagrams and correlation equations.

In this paper a genetic algorithm for clustering is proposed. The algorithm is based on the variable length chromosomes and the notion of local points density in the clustered set. Its role is to identify the number of clusters in the clustered set and to partition this set into particular clusters. The tests were conducted for two different sets of two dimensional data. The algorithm performed well in both cases. The tests presented the ability of the algorithm to partition the subsets combined with the thin dense area into separate clusters.

This paper pertains to the execution of a part consisting of a sphere situated inside a cube on a CNC milling machine tool. The sphere is freely situated, i.e. it has full freedom of movement within the cube. However it is not possible to remove it from the cube, because its diameter exceeds the length of the cube wall. The hypothesis posed in this paper is that optimal utilisation of technological processing capabilities in combination with geometrical and technological problem analysis enables a significant expansion in the range of details acknowledged as possible to produce. A method of analysis of a technological problem posed in this way was proposed, as a result of which the technology for production of this part was developed, and the final effect presented in the form of the produced detail. This paper shows that the condition for success is the proper selection of technological factors (machine tool, tools, method of fastening) and conceptual and informational factors (geometrical analysis, correct use of CNC control, optimal utilisation of CAD/CAM software for generation of the control program).

Robotic Rubik’s solver is an excellent example of science popularizing mechatronic device, since it combines knowledge of several technological fields including computer vision techniques, advanced numerical algorithms and control of industrial pneumatic components with popula-rity of Rubik’s cube in one resulting device. First version of solver con-structed by our department was equipped only by 2 lower grippers, resul-ting in approximately four minutes for single cube solution. Proposed paper describes not only experience gained by development of upgraded 4 gripper version but includes statistical analysis of Thistlethwait’s 45 algorithm required for solving process optimization. Mechanical design, electronics, system overview, performance and limitations of upgraded 4 gripper version are explained in detail as well.

Opis:
The connected dominating set (CDS) has become a well-known approach for constructing a virtual backbone in wireless sensor networks. Then traffic can forwarded by the virtual backbone and other nodes turn off their radios to save energy. Furthermore, a smaller CDS incurs fewer interference problems. However, constructing a minimum CDS is an NP-hard problem, and thus most researchers concentrate on how to derive approximate algorithms. In this paper, a novel algorithm based on the induced tree of the crossed cube (ITCC) is presented. The ITCC is to find a maximal independent set (MIS), which is based on building an induced tree of the crossed cube network, and then to connect the MIS nodes to form a CDS. The priority of an induced tree is determined according to a new parameter, the degree of the node in the square of a graph. This paper presents the proof that the ITCC generates a CDS with a lower approximation ratio. Furthermore, it is proved that the cardinality of the induced trees is a Fibonacci sequence, and an upper bound to the number of the dominating set is established. The simulations show that the algorithm provides the smallest CDS size compared with some other traditional algorithms.
