Wildlife traffickindg of endangered species is an international crime that is increasing in in terms of its significance and position in the global crime hierarchy. This phenomenon is a significant subject of research for both traditional and green criminology. The representatives of green criminology, when discussing the criminal policy in matters related to green crimes, refer to its broad meaning. From this perspective, “green criminal policy” includes: a) the legal and social approach, b) a regulatory system that emphasizes social arrangements, norms and reforms in the production and consumption system; and c) a system of social interactions. Each of these models is presented in the article. In this context, the results of qualitative research on the state of the social control of illegal trade in wild fauna and flora in Poland will also be cited.

Nowadays, the growth and complexity of functionalities of current information systems, especially dynamic, distributed and heterogeneous information systems, makes the design and creation of such systems a difficult task and at the same time, strategic for businesses. A very important stage of data protection in an information system is the creation of a high level model, independent of the software, satisfying the needs of system protection and security. The process of role engineering, i.e. the identification of roles and setting up in an organization is a complex task. The paper presents the modeling and design stages in the process of role engineering in the aspect of security schema development for information systems, in particular for dynamic, distributed information systems, based on the role concept and the usage concept. Such a schema is created first of all during the design phase of a system. Two actors should cooperate with each other in this creation process, the application developer and the security administrator, to determine the minimal set of user’s roles in agreement with the security constraints that guarantee the global security coherence of the system.

Reduced Order Models

continuous mode interpolation
Opis:
In the present study, a hierarchy of control-oriented reduced order models (ROMs) for fluid flows is presented. Control design requires simplicity, accuracy and robustness from an online capable Galerkin model. These requirements imply low order of the associated dynamical system. Standard POD (praper orthogonal decomposition) Galerkin models may provide a low-dimensional representation of a given reference state. Yet, their narrow dynamic range and lack of robustness pose a challenge for control design. We propose key enablers to increase the dynamic range of the POD model. An 11-dimensional hybrid model is discussed which includes, in addition to 8 POD modes, a shift mode to resolve base-flow variations, and a complex global stability mode for enhanced description of the transient phase. The dimension is further reduced by a similarly accurate 3-dimensional generalized mean-field model employing a novel continuous mode interpolation technique between POD and stability eigenmodes. This method connects smoothly different operating conditions, different mode bases and even different boundary conditions, allowing the design of least-order, accurate Galerkin model for flow control purposes. The interpolation technique is employed to construct a priori flow model from the stability analysis and the Reynolds equation without the need for flow data.
W pracy przedstawiono grupę modeli niskowymiarowych przeznaczoną do sterowania opływem ciał. Metoda ciągłej interpolacji modów została zastosowana do konstrukcji modelu a priori przepływu, opartego jedynie o mody globalnej analizy stabilności.

It has been found that the area where one can look for significant reserves in the procurement logistics is a rational management of the stock of raw materials. Currently, the main purpose of projects which increase the efficiency of inventory management is to rationalise all the activities in this area, taking into account and minimising at the same time the total inventory costs. The paper presents a method for optimising the inventory level of raw materials under a foundry plant conditions using two different control models. The first model is based on the estimate of an optimal level of the minimum emergency stock of raw materials, giving information about the need for an order to be placed immediately and about the optimal size of consignments ordered after the minimum emergency level has occurred. The second model is based on the estimate of a maximum inventory level of raw materials and an optimal order cycle. Optimisation of the presented models has been based on the previously done selection and use of rational methods for forecasting the time series of the delivery of a chosen auxiliary material (ceramic filters) to a casting plant, including forecasting a mean size of the delivered batch of products and its standard deviation.

Opis:
The aim of this study is to identify a drone swarm’s capabilities and the key factors influencing its employment in military operations. The research takes the quantitative analysis of scientific literature related to the technical and operational utilization of drones. The use of drones for military purposes in contemporary world is widespread. They conduct dull, dirty, dangerous and deep military operations replacing manned aviation in many areas. Progressive technological development including artificial intelligence and machine learning allows for the use of military drones in the form of a swarm. It is a quite new technology at the beginning of development. The study indicates that the capabilities of a drone swarm based on communication within the group and autonomy differentiate it from the typical use of unmanned aircraft. Size, diversity, self-configurability and self-perfection amongst the others indicated in literature are attributes of a drone swarm which may give advantage in military operation comparing to the classic use of unmanned aircraft. Emergent coordination as a command and control model of a drone swarm is a future way of utilizing that technology in military operations. In the future, a drone swarm will be a cheaper equivalent of advanced and much more expensive weapon systems conducting combat operations.

Model predictive control (MPC) algorithms brought increase of the control system performance in many applications thanks to relatively easily solving issues that are hard to solve without these algorithms. The paper is focused on investigating how to further improve the control system performance using a trajectory of parameters weighting predicted control errors in the performance function of the optimization problem. Different shapes of trajectories are proposed and their influence on control systems is tested. Additionally, experiments checking the influence of disturbances and of modeling uncertainty on control system performance are conducted. The case studies were done in control systems of three control plants: a linear non-minimumphase plant, a nonlinear polymerization reactor and a nonlinear thin film evaporator. Three types of MPC algorithms were used during research: linear DMC, nonlinear DMC with successive linearization (NDMC–SL), nonlinear DMC with nonlinear prediction and linearization (NDMC–NPL). Results of conducted experiments are presented in greater detail for the control system of the polymerization reactor, whereas for the other two control systems only the most interesting results are presented, for the sake of brevity. The experiments in the control system of the linear plant were done as preliminary experiments with the modified optimization problem. In the case of control system of the thin film evaporator the researched mechanisms were used in the control system of a MIMO plant showing possibilities of improving the control system performance.

Opis:
Growing safety, pollution and comfort requirements influence automotive industry ever more. The use of three-way catalysts in exhaust aftertreatment systems of combustion engines is essential in reducing engine emissions to levels demanded by environmental legislation. However, the key to the optimal catalytic conversion level is to keep the engine air/fuel ratio (AFR) at a desired level. Thus, for this purposes more and more sophisticated AFR control algorithms are intensively investigated and tested in the literature. The goal of this paper is to present for a case of a gasoline engine the model predictive AFR controller based on the multiple-model approach to the engine modeling. The idea is to identify the engine in particular working points and then to create a global engine's model using Sugeno fuzzy logic. Opposite to traditional control approaches which lose their quality beside steady state, it enables to work with satisfactory quality mainly in transient regimes. Presented results of the multiple-model predictive air/fuel ratio control are acquired from the first experimental real-time implementation on the VW Polo 1390 cm3 gasoline engine, at which the original electronic control unit (ECU) has been fully replaced by a dSpace prototyping system which execute the predictive controller. Required control performance has been proven and is presented in the paper.

We consider an optimal control problem of the Mayer-type for a single-input, control affine, nonlinear system in small dimension. In this paper, we analyze effects that a modeling extension has on the optimality of singular controls when the control is replaced with the output of a first-order, time-invariant linear system driven by a new control. This analysis is motivated by an optimal control problem for a novel cancer treatment method, tumor anti-angiogenesis, when such a linear differential equation, which represents the pharmacokinetics of the therapeutic agent, is added to the model. We show that formulas that define a singular control of order 1 and its associated singular arc carry over verbatim under this model extension, albeit with a different interpretation. But the intrinsic order of the singular control increases to 2. As a, consequence, optimal concatenation sequences with the singular control change and the possibility of optimal chattering arcs arises.

Two numerically efficient control system structures alternative to the classical one are considered. In the first one the supplementary Steady State Target Optimization (SSTO) is performed at each sampling instant. In the second one set-point optimization and predictive control are integrated into one optimization task. In the proposed approaches, thanks to using a Wiener process model, both predictive control and set-point optimization problems are simplified. Using the nonlinear model a linear dynamic and linear static approximations are easily obtained and used both for set-point optimization and predictive control.

A simulational model of 6 dof Stewart platform type parallel manipulator is presented. The manipulator is driven by electrohydraulic actuators. The developed control scheme employs the dynamic and hydraulic model of the system. The manipulator model consists of the rigid body equations of motion and the hydraulic dynamics of the main elements. Friction is included in the model. Two well-known software packages, one designed to perform control system simulation and the other dedicated to multibody simulation, are simultaneously used to conduct the study. The aim of the study is to check if it is the impact of dynamics model accuracy on the quality of control process. The simplifications of the model and the problems with finding accurate values of its parameters (especially friction parameters) are considered. The study helps to predict the possible results of inaccurate determination of the crucial model parameters. The simulation results show, that inverse dynamics model simplifications consisting in neglecting the mass of actuators have relatively little influence on the control quality. The effects of actuators masses neglecting can be reduced by appropriate changes in the modelled mass of the platform. The study shows that friction effects should be introduced to the inverse dynamics model and the friction parameters should be identified with possibly big accuracy. The parameters describing stiction-friction transition effects are the crucial ones.

The objective of this paper is to present a modified structure and a training algorithm of the recurrent Elman neural network which makes it possible to explicitly take into account the time-delay of the process and a Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm for such a network. In MPC the predicted output trajectory is repeatedly linearized on-line along the future input trajectory, which leads to a quadratic optimization problem, nonlinear optimization is not necessary. A strongly nonlinear benchmark process (a simulated neutralization reactor) is considered to show advantages of the modified Elman neural network and the discussed MPC algorithm. The modified neural model is more precise and has a lower number of parameters in comparison with the classical Elman structure. The discussed MPC algorithm with on-line linearization gives similar trajectories as MPC with nonlinear optimization repeated at each sampling instant.

The controller is working based on a PID signal while its gain is permanently tuned by means of an Emotional Learning Algorithm to achieve a better control performance. Here, nonlinear characteristic of SRM is identified using an efficient training algorithm (LoLiMoT) for Locally Linear Neurofuzzy Model as an unspecified nonlinear plant model. Then, the Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC) is applied to the obtained model. While the intelligent controller works based on a computational model of a limbic system in the mammalian brain, its contribution is to improve the performance of a classic controller like PID without much more control effort. The results demonstrate excellent improvements of control action in different working situations.

Propofol infusion in anesthesia administration requires continual adjustment in the manual infusion system to regulate the hypnosis level. Hypnotic level is based on Bispectral Index Monitor (BIS) showing the cortical activity of the brain scaled between 0 to 100. The new challenging aspect of automation in anaesthesia is to estimate the concentration of hypnotic drugs in different compartments of the body including primary, rapid peripheral (muscle), slow peripheral (bones, fat) and effect site (brain) compartment based on Pharmacokinetics (PK) and Pharmacodynamics (PD) model. This paper aimed to regulate the hypnosis level with estimating the Propofol concentrations using a linear observer in feedback control strategy based on Integral Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Controller (ISTSMC). The drug concentration in plasma of the silico patients accurately estimated in nominal transient. The results show that tracking errors between the actual output in form of BIS level and linearized output nearly approaches to zero in the maintenance phase of anesthesia to ensure the controller response on sliding phase with optimum performances by achieving desired hypnotic level 50 on BIS. The robustness of control strategy is further ensured by adding measurement noise of electromagnetic environment of operation theatre distracting signal quality index of the output BIS level.

Opis:
W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję stanowiska laboratoryjnego przeznaczonego do fazy prototypowania, które w czasie rzeczywistym wykonywało współbieżnie obliczenia modeli przekształtników energoelektronicznych i realizowało zadania sterowania.
The power electronics converters study, both for the purposes of teaching and scientific research, requires the testing of control systems and regulations. These tests do not always end with success, especially in a situation not provided for events or inappropriately selected control parameters. In the case of a laboratory station possible short circuits or errors can result in the destruction of sensitive, costly items. The article shows the concept of a laboratory station intended for prototyping phase, which in real time performed calculation in parallel of the power electronic converter models and provided the control tasks.

Opis:
We consider a general class of mathematical models P for cancer chemotherapy described as optimal control problems over a fixed horizon with dynamics given by a bilinear system and an objective which is linear in the control. Several two- and three-compartment models considered earlier fall into this class. While a killing agent which is active during cell division constitutes the only control considered in the two-compartment model, Model A, also two three-compartment models, Models B and C, are analyzed, which consider a blocking agent and a recruiting agent, respectively. In Model B a blocking agent which slows down cell growth during the synthesis allowing in consequence the synchronization of the neoplastic population is added. In Model C the recruitment of dormant cells from the quiescent phase to enable their efficient treatment by a cytotoxic drug is included. In all models the cumulative effect of the killing agent is used to model the negative effect of the treatment on healthy cells. For each model it is shown that singular controls are not optimal. Then sharp necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for bang-bang controls are given for the general class of models P and illustrated with numerical examples.

Opis:
In environmental epidemiology, time series analyses represent a widely used statistical tool. However, though being commonly used, there is soften confusion regarding the specific requirements, such as which link function might be most appropriate, when or how to control for seasonality or how to account for lags. The present overview draws from experiences in other disciplines and discusses the proper execution of time series analyses based on considerations that are relevant in environmental epidemiology. Time series analysis in environmental epidemiology focuses on acute events caused by short-term changes in exposure. These exposures should be fairly wide-spread affecting a large number of persons, usually all inhabitants of a political entity. Pollutants in air or drinking water as well as meteorological factors serve as typical examples. Despite the many time series analyses performed world-wide, some health effects that would lend themselves to that approach are still under-explored. This would include also some neurological and psychiatric endpoints.

Opis:
Simulation plays an important role in the performance evaluation of MAC protocols. Building simulation models which are able to accurately model physical behaviour is fundamental to the outcome of such techniques. Through both qualitative and quantitative comparison of experimental trace data against simulation results obtained using delay, power, and hybrid capture models, this paper investigates the performance of various packet capture models in the simulation analysis of the 802.11 PHY and MAC layer protocols. We illustrate these models are unable to accurately describe the fairness properties of the experimental data. A new model is proposed, Message Retraining, to describe the operation of an 802.11 receiver. We illustrate that the Message Retraining reception model is able to model the fairness characteristics obtained with an IEEE 802.11 radio modem more accurately than the previous capture models.

Opis:
Characteristic frequencies corresponding to poles and zeros of small-signal control-to-output transfer functions of popular DC-DC converters (BUCK and BOOST) are analyzed. The main attention is paid to influence of load conductance on the characteristic frequencies for converters working in continuous conduction mode (CCM) as well as in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). Parasitic resistances of all converter components are included in calculations. In addition the improved description of CCMDCM boundary is presented. The calculations are verified experimentally and good consistency of the results is observed.

Opis:
This paper is devoted to path planning when the safety of the system considered has to be guaranteed in the presence of bounded uncertainty affecting its model. A new path planner addresses this problem by combining Rapidly-exploring Random Trees (RRT) and a set representation of uncertain states. An idealized algorithm is presented first, before a description of one of its possible implementations, where compact sets are wrapped into boxes. The resulting path planner is then used for nonholonomic path planning in robotics.
