    In the article the author analyses Russian and Polish phrasemes that represent the conceptual field ”Memory” in both linguacultural spaces. In order to do this he relies on the postulates of Ryszard Tokarski’s theory of semantic connotation being the theory of the secondary semantic field, which constitutes the optional layer of the lexical meaning of a linguistic sign. On the basis of the conducted analysis of the selected phraseological data it can be concluded that the Polish and Russian commonsense attitude to the semantic interpretation of memory is similar. Additional connotative senses can be determined in this case, which are of an evaluative, emotional and stylistic nature.

    Opis:
    This article describes the “Fish” concept in the Kildin Saami language. We assume that such an endangered Finno-Ugric language as the Kildin Saami has a specific anthropocentric level. The material is analyzed with the use of the “Nature − Human” contrastive system. We demonstrate the importance of prelogical concepts associated with primordial ideas about a human being as part of nature expressed in the Saami languages and culture. The analysis shows that the separation of meaning and a single word presentation in the Kildin Sami language is directly related to the importance of a given object, feature or action for the practical activity. The specificity of the “Fish” concept in the Kildin Saami language in this respect is associated with the relation between the ethnic group and nature. The analytical material points to the following opposition types: equipollent, privative (binary) or gradual. The analysis of oppositions found in the “Fish” conceptual field reveals the presence of lacunas and differential characteristics.

    The lack of Polish fixed equivalents of Austro-Hungarian military rank names is caused by the fact that these terms are culture-bound elements that belong to the historical legal reality and by the incongruence of A-H and Polish (conceptual) military rank systems. This lack leaves a great multitude of possible solu-tions. In the article the compared systems of military ranks are perceived as systems of concepts and ana-lyzed in terms of Jost Trier’s lexical field theory. This approach is supported with some examples of monolingual dictionary definitions of military ranks that are clearly based on an item’s relations within a field. Despite some etymological parallels between A-H and Polish military rank names the systems they constitute belong to different “traditions” of military terminology — respectively to the German and French — which is to be observed mainly in the names of general ranks. Being bilateral signs, the rank names allow different translation solutions that constitute a continuum spread between two poles: a formal and a conceptual one that are analogous to the poles of formal and dynamic (conceptual) equivalence. The first one is achieved mainly by calques or loan translations whereas the latter by using ranks with similar position within the system.

    This paper discusses the notion of quantity and related notions from the perspective of their lexicalisation in the area of the so-called (functional, auxiliary) grammatical expressions. Such units, founded on the notion of quantity, create a microsystem composed of the following semantic and functional classes: interrogative pronouns, relators, prepositions, metapredicative operators (of gradation, limitation, approximation), conjunctions, particles, metatextual commentaries, and modifi er of declarativity. The semantic relationships between these units are similar to the ones noticeable between expressions from the relevant level of language; apart from that, they form pairs based on such relationships with units from outside the examined lexical and conceptual field. The paper also discusses the variant groups among the analysed expressions and units that are formally similar yet functionally different.

    This article is devoted to the functional and semantic description of the Russian and Polish terminology of theolinguistics. Russian and Polish lexicographic sources were used to analyze the interpretation of words that a priori can perform the function of theolinguistic terms; the features of their functioning in Russian- and Polish-language theolinguistic texts were studied; the selection and seminal analysis of Russian and Polish terms included in the conceptual and terminological field "theolinguistics" was carried out.
    Настоящая статья посвящена функционально-семантическому описанию русской и польской терминологии теолингвистики. В ходе исследования с использованием русских и польских лексикографических источников были проанализированы толкования слов, которые a priori могут выполнять функцию теолингвистических терминов; изучены особенности их функционирования в русско- и польскоязычных теолингвистических текстах; проведен выбор и семный анализ русских и польских терминов, вошедших в состав понятийно-терминологического поля „теолингвистика”.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest funkcjonalno-semantycznemu opisowi rosyjskiej i polskiej terminologii teolingwistyki. W trakcie badań, na podstawie rosyjskich i polskich źródeł leksykograficznych, przeanalizowano definicje słów, które a priori mogą pełnić funkcje terminów teolingwistycznych; zostały zbadane właściwości ich funkcjonowania w rosyjskich i polskich tekstach teolingwistycznych; dokonano selekcji i analizy semowej terminów rosyjskich i polskich wchodzących w skład pojęciowo-terminologicznego pola „teolingwistyka”.

    The article analyzes a fragment of the novel Die Klavierspielerin by Elfriede Jelinek and its translation into Polish by Ryszard Turczyn. Jelinek’s novel can be regarded as a social novel, in which the author performs not only an analysis of individual fate but also of the society, where an individual is treated as a “social product”. The analysis of the human and social condition takes place in Jelinek’s work through a language that mercilessly reveals the way the protagonists think, as well as social mechanisms. The article shows how Jelinek’s language reveals contemporary dehumanization in relation to the elderly and the mentally ill. Based on the theory of cognitive metaphors, the author analyzes textual worldview: she assumes after Lakoff and Johnson, and indirectly also after Jelinek, that linguistic metaphors are manifestations of conceptual metaphors. At the same time, the article attempts to investigate whether and how much this linguistic worldview has been reproduced in the Polish translation of the book.
    Przedmiotem analizy jest fragment powieści Elfriede Jelinek Die Klavierspielerin oraz jej przekład na język polski dokonany przez Ryszarda Turczyna. Powieść Jelinek można uznać za powieść społeczną, w której autorka przeprowadza nie tyle analizę jednostkowego losu, ile analizę społeczeństwa, przedstawioną na przykładzie jednostki będącej „produktem” społecznym. Analiza kondycji człowieka i społeczeństwa odbywa się u Jelinek poprzez język, który bezlitośnie dezawuuje sposób myślenia bohaterów i mechanizmy społeczne. W artykule pokazane jest, w jaki sposób poprzez język Jelinek odsłania współczesną dehumanizację w odniesieniu do osób starszych i chorych psychicznie. Autorka w oparciu o teorię metafory kognitywnej analizuje tekstowy obraz świata, zakładając za Lakoffem i Johnsonem i pośrednio również za Jelinek, że metafory językowe można traktować jako manifestacje metafor myślowych. Jednocześnie stara się odpowiedzieć na pytanie, czy i na ile ten językowy obraz świata został odtworzony w przekładzie na język polski.
