    Ulfried ReichardtAmerikanistik, Universität Mannheim Theories of the Global, Global Literature, and American Literature in a Globalizing Age Abstract: The paper discusses theories of the global and approaches to the concept of the world, presents definitions of literature in a globalizing age, and examines proposals how to approach world literature in literary scholarship, including ones that regard world literature as a system and ones that focus on individual texts. Finally, the essay argues that in our digitally restructured knowledge world, contemporary novels reflecting on the transformations of media and of knowledge formation have to be considered as versions of world literature as well.     Opis:
    As a starting point for the reconstruction of pictures of places of creation of the world’s concepts, the monograph edited by T. Sadoń-Osowiecka “Place, space, landscape – educational signs” was chosen. Analyses of the works published in it was carried out on the basis of: location of the observer in an educational space, distance in the study conducted, applied techniques of recording the picture, and the preferred temporal distance in the recording of a picture. The said analysis indicated the role played in the understanding of the world by an individual through: (a) one’s association with “places” which give the status of tamed space; (b) valid and methodologically proper recognition of reality ‘from near’ and ‘from afar’, and treatment of these perspectives as mutually complementary; (c) the will not to eliminate from the pictures of the world “its” gloomy elements: the problems of school: hard situations of socially and culturally excluded people; marginalised places; (d) readiness to bear responsibility for the quality of being “among” people and “for” them, for the present and future of the life of their world.

    The results of the qualitative research on younger school-aged children’s perception of the relation between the learning outcomes and their impact on the financial situation of the adult have been presented in the article. What the paper attempts to address are the main differences in children’s knowledge about making money and their attitudes towards the basic sources of achieving financial success in adulthood. The article also tries to present some general reflections and to indicate possible research directions in this issue.

    This article is a continuation of the same authors' study entitled 'Concepts And Delimitation Of The World's Macro-Regions' prepared for the 1/2018 of this journal (Anděl et al. 2018). The main aim of the first part was an evaluation of the concepts and factors which have been used as a basis for the delimitation of the different macro-regions of the world. In this second part, the authors propose their own macro-regionalisation of the world this is a combination of four concepts, with relatively different contents: those of De Blij and Muller (1997), Cole (1996), Huntington (1996) and Hampl (2009). This macro-regionalisation arises from sociocultural affiliation, economic interrelationships and territorial continuity. Along with the concept of the macro-regional differentiation of the world itself, we focus on evaluating the importance of the shaping of macro-regions, as well as assessing the positive and negative features of individual concepts and their influence on the macro-regional differentiation of the world.

    The authors focus on the current differentiation of the world and on its cognitive, application and educational frameworks and importance for the present. Macro-regional differentiation of the world has resulted from geographic concepts and it is a foundation for understanding the global development of society. This article evaluates the specific concepts and factors that form concepts of world macro-regions prepared by famous authors. It also presents a methodological approach for macro-regional forming of the world. After a theoretical and methodological introduction there is a discussion of the differentiation of the world entitled “Macroregional differentiation of the world - formation and application.ˮ The authors also present their conception of world differentiation and evaluation of the creation macro-regions and their positive and negative influence of the macro-regional differentiation of the world.

    The article reviews specific features of the Georgian linguistic world image shaped during the long period of its existence. The analysis covers the cultural concepts and language markers that reflect the national characteristics. Being a special kind of cross-cultural communication, translation is a process of overcoming the linguistic and cultural barriers, and includes transcoding of language code as well as the cultural one. On the one hand, it uncovers the discrepancies between the key concepts in different cultures, and on the other hand, it demonstrates existence of the similar language markers of the ‘global cultural space’ that is being formed.

    Polska Marynarka Wojenna (PMW) praktycznie od początku II wojny światowej aktywnie uczestniczyła w działaniach morskich u boku Royal Navy. Funkcjonujące na terytorium Wielkiej Brytanii Kierownictwo Marynarki Wojennej starało się wpłynąć na Admiralicję Brytyjską i uzyskać możliwość uruchomienia Szkoły Podchorążych MW, kształcącej przyszłych oficerów PMW, a także ośrodków kształcących kadrę podoficerską i szkolących marynarzy-specjalistów okrętowych. Po rozpoczęciu przez Niemców działań lotniczych i morskich przeciwko Wielkiej Brytanii, okręty PMW zostały włączone w skład brytyjskich morskich zespołów bojowych, co wymagało uruchomienia specjalistycznego szkolenia dla załóg okrętów PMW. W związku z tym Royal Navy wyraziło zgodę na korzystanie przez oficerów, podoficerów i marynarzy PMW z brytyjskich morskich ośrodków szkoleniowych, a także uczelni cywilnych. Miało to na celu przygotowanie wysokiej klasy specjalistów PMW do współpracy z siłami morskim aliantów. Dynamika działań na morzach i wzrost liczby okrętów PMW spowodowały, że w 1943 r. powołano do życia Szkołę Podchorążych Rezerwy MW. Przez cały okres II wojny światowej współpraca szkoleniowa między PMW a Royal Navy funkcjonowała sprawnie, a profesjonalizm załóg okrętów PMW znalazł uznanie władz brytyjskich oraz Admiralicji Brytyjskiej.
    Practically since the outbreak of World War II, the Polish Navy has actively participated in naval operations alongside the Royal Navy. The Naval Leadership, operating in the territory of Great Britain, has tried to influence the British Admiralty to enable the launch of the Naval Officer Cadet School, educating the future officers of the Polish Navy, as well as of the centres educating the non-commissioned officer personnel and the training of seamen-shipping specialists. After the Germans began their air and sea operations in Britain, the ships of the Polish Navy were included in the British naval combat teams, which called for the launch of specialized specialist training for the crews of the Polish Navy ships. As a result, the Royal Navy approved the use by officers, non-commissioned officers and seamen of the Polish Navy of British maritime training centres and civilian colleges. All this was aimed at preparing high-class Polish Navy specialists to cooperate with the Allied naval forces. The dynamics of the operations in sea areas and the increase in the number of Polish Navy ships led to the establishing of the Naval Reserve Officer Cadets School in 1943. Throughout the Second World War, training cooperation between the Polish Navy and the Royal Navy functioned well. The professionalism of the crews of the Polish Navy ships was recognized by the British authorities, and the British Admiralty.
