The aim of the study is to evaluate the xenogamous nature of cultural studies. The author is of the opinion that the word xenogamy that belongs to the biological sciences is worth applying in the form of another metaphor, one relating to the concept of culture as such, culture as an abstract category. The history of this word’s usage, and the resultant connotations and denotations of the concept of culture, show that its meaning is not only constantly evolving, expanding or narrowing, but is in addition constantly being ‘pollinated’ by various areas of social practice. Proving the proposed thesis the author presents the selected works on the concept of culture.

In the article, I search for the connection between emotions culture and education by examining the affective reproduction of culture. Building on the tradition of Émile Durkheim, in the works by Arlie Russell Hochschild and Steven Gordon the concept of emotional culture is (re)constructed. Emotional culture is understood as the specific complex of emotion vocabularies, feeling rules, and beliefs about emotions. Emotions and their meaning provide a socio-psychological mechanism that controls/develops individuals and groups. In the text, it is argued that the concept of emotional culture adds a distinctive conceptual tool for studying different educational contexts and environments. To examine this argument, the article is divided into three parts. First, an overview of the concepts and theories that underlie the term of emotional culture is given. In the second part, the concept is analyzed in the light of modern cultural studies. The article closes by pointing out pedagogical implications, especially those connected with emotional education.

This is where culture in its general theoretical dimension meets the specific Polish historical conditions.

Tekstem tym uprzytamniam obecność w antropologii – kulturowej? – od wielu dekad, ostatnio znów bardzo żywego nurtu „troski o kulturę”, kwestionującego status metodologiczny i badawczą przydatność samego pojęcia kultury. Wyróżniam i ilustruję przykładami trzy płaszczyzny czy też perspektywy w analizie tego nurtu: 1) perspektywę troski o logiczną precyzję i znaczeniową jasność pojęcia kultury oraz jego definicji, 2) perspektywę związaną z konceptualizacją przedmiotu badań i troską o referencję pojęcia kultury, 3) perspektywę troski o pojęcie kultury jako kategorię fundującą całą dziedzinę badań zwaną antropologią kulturową
This text reminds us about the presence, lasting for several decades, in – cultural? – anthropology, of a trend which has recently once again become very vivid, i.e “culture concerns and cares,” which questions methodological status and research suitability of the concept of culture itself. I distinguish and illustrate, using examples, three planes or perspectives in the analysis of this trend: 1) the perspective of concern for logical precision and semantic clarity of the concept of culture and its definitions; 2) the perspective associated with the conceptualization of culture as a research subject, and concerns which refer to the concept of culture; 3) the perspective of concern for the concept of culture as a funding category supporting the whole field of research called cultural anthropology

The aim of the article is the presentation of the Interpretative anthropology, and its connections with political science. The paper describes humanistic inspirations of contemporary social theories, anthropological ways of understanding of culture and the title category with its political context. It is analysed through the hermeneutical category of discovering meanings in terms of Gadamer.
Celem artykułu jest prezentacja antropologii interpretatywnej, ukazanie jej związków z naukami o polityce oraz możliwości jej wykorzystania w badaniach politologicznych. Tekst przedstawia humanistyczne inspiracje współczesnych teorii społecznych, sposoby antropologicznego rozumienia kultury oraz tytułową teorię wraz jej politologicznym kontekstem. Analizowana jest ona za pomocą hermeneutycznej kategorii odkrywania znaczeń w ujęciu Gadamerowskim.

The main aim of this article is a draft of so-called psychology of cultural participation by Krystyna Zamiara, which is based on a sample of overcoming a cognitive perspective typical of psychological research participation of individuals in a culture and an extremely anti-individualistic, anti-psychologist perspective typical of cultural sciences, represented in this article by social-regulational concept of culture by Jerzy Kmita. As a result of overcoming limitations deriving from the two extreme points of view, would become possible to determine an area of effective cooperation between them in the research of cultural participation.

The phenomenon of death since the beginning of time has brought about fear as well as curiosity. The article presents the cultural aspects of the perception of the phenomenon of death. They refer to the old superstitions, customs, traditions. As linguistic data confirm, many of them are reflected in the language. The concept of death in Russian phraseology refers to the Christian concept of the binary nature of a human being (consisting of the soul and the body), to pagan legends and beliefs. It is mostly characterized by the themes such as the end, road, dream.

The article tries to provide an answer to whether it is possible and viable to establish a universal criminal law applicable worldwide. The author focuses on the relationship between culture and law. Special attention is devoted to the area of criminal law and the influence of cultural backgrounds in different societies, which makes an impact on controversial topics, and sometimes becomes a subject matter of penal law. The article considers issues linked to philosophy of law and comparative law, seeking answers in various doctrines and worldviews. It contains some reflections about globalization, considering it as a material process related to the evolution of legal orders. In conclusion, the author sets out to describe the evolution that has led to the creation of the existing system of international criminal law, and attempt to predict the future of legal cooperation in criminal matters.

The text presents an outline of new problematisation of cultural phenomena and transformations. This new problematisation has emerged as a result of the critical debate on the classical anthropological concept of culture which took place in anthropology in the last decades. New problematisation repudiates an idea that cultures form discernible, bounded and complex objects. It focuses on cultural change as a new object of reflection and study. We can find three clusters of problems at the heart of new problematisation, the questions related to the problems of creativity, cultural variation and cultural integration and disintegration. I put forward my own type of questions in order to address these large problems. I draw attention to the conditions of cultural changes, or more specifically to the conditions constraining the scope, tempo, and depth of cultural transformations. I bring these questions to the level of ethnographic analysis. Drawing on my own ethnographic data collected during the fieldwork in Western Macedonia, I attempt to highlight the problem of conditions that constrain the processes of cultural transformations.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zarysu nowej problematyzacji zjawisk i procesów kulturowych, powstałej w antropologii społeczno-kulturowej w efekcie krytyki, jakiej w minionych dekadach poddano tak zwane antropologiczne pojęcie kultury. Nowa pro - blematyzacja odchodzi od traktowania kultur jako specyficznych obiektów na rzecz no - wego przedmiotu namysłu i refleksji teoretycznej – kulturowych przeobrażeń. Dowodzę, że w centrum nowej problematyzacji znajdują się trzy grupy zagadnień, związane odpo - wiednio z kulturową kreatywnością, wariantywnością oraz procesami integracji i dezin - tegracji kulturowej. Proponuję też własne podejście do zarysowanych zagadnień, skupione na pytaniach dotyczących uwarunkowań zmian kulturowych, w szczególności na tym, co ogranicza tempo, głębokość i skalę zmian. Aby uwyraźnić interesujące mnie pytania, od - wołuję się do materiału etnograficznego zaczerpniętego z własnych badań prowadzonych zachodniej części Republiki Macedonii.

The comparison between the concept of sexual and reproductive rights and the idea of gender and the Christian culture of the body with its personalist anthropology reveals their essential differences. The concept of reproductive rights is permeated with individualism, where sex identity can be freely defined, and sexual activities of individuals-provided that they stay within the boundaries of law-are not subjected to any moral norms. The main point of the disagreement between the concept of reproductive rights and the Christian culture of the body concerns the meaning of human corporeality. For the former, human body is, in a certain way, an ‘outside’ of the self-determining subject. According to the latter view, human body participates in man’s dignity as his constituent dimension. Another difference revolves around the meaning of sexual activity. Efforts to force implementation of sexual and reproductive rights, along with gender informed law and culture, are dangerous to the fundamental group unit of society-the family-based on the marriage between man and woman.

The article focuses on the thesis that the culture marked vocabulary of German expresses pluriculturality and -regionality and evokes lexical polyonymy. This is analyzed and described in the framework of a linguo-cultural research based on selected nominations of realia in German inside and outside the German-speaking cultural area (DACH region and Russia), which are tied to pluri-, inter- and transcultural concepts. It should be noted that the lexical polyonymy in the culturally marked vocabulary of German is to a great extent a specific expression of the linguistic diatopic/regional variety structure.

The study is aimed on traces of religiosity in aesthetic-philosophical system of a Russian symbolistic poet,  prosaic  writer  and  thinker  D.S.  Merezhkovsky.  The  study  analyses  selected Merezhkovsky’s works with focus on aesthetics, his essays, historiosophic prose and philosophic religious treatises. For Russian spiritual and art culture, importance of Merezhovsky is obvious, especially in connection with his effort to overcome crisis processes in religious, philosophical and art sphere, realized by means of synthesis and transcendence in modern culture.
