The term “competence” owes its interdisciplinary character to the richness of its semantic contest. Hence, it is used in various scientific disciplines, including the social sciences. The objective of the following article is to look more closely at the notion of competence, that is, how is has been approached in psychology from the late 1950 till today. The article aims at presenting the issues related to the conceptualization of competence. Furthermore, some ambiguities in the nomenclature used by researchers and theoreticians as well as in the way competence is presents have been noticed. It has provoked the author of this article to formulate some specifications. Some efforts have been made to systematize the knowledge in this area. The analsis of competence has finally resulted in the defining personality competence indicators and formulating the basis to mark them out from personal competences. As an illustration of the latter temporal competences have been discussed in some detail.

The realm of business is the realm of hard facts, profit and loss statements, tough competition and merciless battle for market share. The reality is that business survival is almost always at stake in our turbulent times. There is no denying that it is the competence of business people that plays a key role in business success. This paper discusses the concept of competence from the perspective of the anthropocentric theory, i.e. viewed as an inherent property of a human being. The author also presents an overview of the selected concepts of competence, discursive competence and intercultural competence in international business. The author points to potential risks related to the expansion of business activity into foreign markets, including the risks resulting from cultural differences. The selected issues of negotiation in international business are also discussed in the last section of the paper.

The objective of this study was to identify the relationship between personal, business, management, and social skills and the entrepreneurship program of students from an educational institution with an entrepreneurial profile in the creation of micro and small companies. The type of research was quantitative, correlational, and non-experimental. The subjects were 320 students from the field of economic and administrative sciences. The instrument was validated by four professors from the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Autonomous University of Coahuila, Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Ecate-pec, and the Technological Institute of Sonora and had two sections. In the first, there were 17 general information questions, and the second contained 45 questions on a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5. Regarding the results, it was demonstrated that personal, business, management, and social skills as well as skills developed in educational programs are significant and have a positive relationship with the entrepreneurial profile for the creation of micro and small businesses. The study provides the basis for other studies that seek to assess the skills of entrepreneurs and the creation of micro and small businesses.

The main purpose of this article is to present the development and evolution of two fundamental components of the communicative competence in the teaching of foreign languages: pragmatics and interculturality. We will analyze different visions of pragmatic competence and intercultural competence, which are sometimes treated as synonymous concepts. We will focus our attention on the problems observed in class as a consequence of the great diversity of cultural contexts in which Spanish is learned, highlighting the importance of activating the development of both competences in class and the need to learn to negotiate linguistic and cultural meanings within a cultural context different from that of the target language. Finally, we will present the results of a study carried out with students from a Polish and a German university, whose objective was to analyze the previous attitudes of students from different faculties towards two competences that should always go hand in hand: pragmatics and interculturality.

The purpose of our article is to analyze the main differences between sociolinguistic competence and pragmatic competence, integrated within communicative competence. Firstly, we will try to define, characterize, and exemplify the tools inherent to sociolinguistic competence in comparison with pragmatic competence. We will present that courtesy formulas in language teaching should be included within the pragmatic competence and not sociolinguistic as it has been done usually. To do this, we will use the multilingual competence on which the CEFR-CV (2020) places considerable emphasis. Likewise, the concepts of sociolinguistic and pragmatic competences will be explained taking as a starting point the components of communicative competence which, in turn, encompasses intercultural competences. On the other hand, we will also deal with the role and challenges of the intercultural speaker as a mediator  of pragmatic, sociolinguistic and sociocultural meanings. In the last part of the article, we will focus on the field of teaching Spanish as a foreign language (hereinafter ELE), specifically, on the development of communicative competence from a sociolinguistic and pragmatic perspective. We will analyze some ELE manuals to reflect on and show the work proposals related to pragmatic and sociolinguistic knowledge (especially at level A1) carried out by their authors.

Today, a characteristic feature of life is contact (direct or via media) with “otherness” and the “Other” – ethnically, religiously, nationally. The issue of the links between multiculturalism and the media is essential for education, but it does not seem to be sufficiently taken into account in the formal education of teachers. Therefore, the article addressed the issue of shaping media competences and intercultural competences of teachers, indicating the need to include both these issues in an integral manner. It has become important to consider the dimensions of these competences – cognitive, pragmatic and emotional – as well as to show the issues that should be present in the education of teaching staff. This type of approach seems to meet the requirements relating to the dynamically forming “knowledge-based society and “multicultural society”.

The main approaches to the future psychologists’ (special, clinical) professional competence are considered. The components that make up a special environment in the conditions of the system of students’ training have a new professionally significant quality that actualizes the need for a comprehensive study of professional competence phenomenon are determined. An analysis of the psychological and pedagogical literature led to the conclusion that professional competence is a set of knowledge, skills and abilities that determine the outcome of work, a combination of theoretical and practical students’ training, as well as knowledge with professional and personal qualities that formed creative potential, initiative, cooperation, ability to work in a group, communication skills, ability to learn, evaluate, think logically, select and build activities.

mining managerial competence. At the beginning of the article the author has defined contemporary economy and indicated the roles of the managers in the organizations. The further part of this paper shows the interpretation of the term managerial competence presented by different authors. The last part of the article is devoted to the overview of the methods and tools which can be used to examine the competence of the management staff. The author has also indicated the types of obtained information depending on the selected method or tool as well as the level of the costs related to their use. The purpose of the article is to present the methods and the tools of examining managerial competence. As a research tool, query literature has been used. The analysis carried out may contribute to improve the processes of examining managerial competence in the contemporary organizations.

Kompetencje komunikacyjne pedagoga/wychowawcy/opiekuna decydują o sposobie budowania relacji z podopiecznymi. Właściwa atmosfera współpracy będąca wynikiem posiadania odpowiednich umiejętności interpersonalnych, w tym komunikacyjnych, decyduje o możliwości wspierania rozwoju wychowanków. Braki w tym zakresie powodują duże zagrożenie dla intelektualnego i emocjonalnego wzrostu dzieci i młodzieży, w skrajnych przypadkach powodując ich zniewolenie. Komunikacyjny charakter pracy pedagoga pociąga za sobą określone konsekwencje dla sposobu kształcenia studentów przygotowujących się do tego zawodu. Kształcenia, które niezależnie od przyjętej ogólnej koncepcji, zawsze pozostaje procesem. Jego efekty uzależnione są od wzajemnych czynności studentów i nauczycieli akademickich oraz całego szeregu uwarunkowań. Jednym z ważniejszych uwarunkowań po stronie studentów jest wewnętrzny obraz świata (będący wynikiem ich dotychczasowych osobistych przeżyć i doświadczeń), z jakim młodzież przychodzi na studia pedagogiczne. Jeśli jest zaburzony utrudnia „stawanie się” pedagogiem uniemożliwiając proces dojrzewania do tej roli i własną autokreację. Autorka, czyniąc doświadczenie punktem wyjścia, stara się pokazać złożoność procesów adaptacyjnych do roli pedagoga. Zwraca uwagę na znaczenie wewnątrzrodzinnych relacji interpersonalnych dla sposobu funkcjonowania w roli studenta i radzenia sobie z przechodzeniem kryzysu adolescencji i wczesnej dorosłości przypadającego właśnie na okres studiów. Podejmując je, studenci są właśnie, w aktualnym momencie swojego życia, tymi, którzy muszą się uporać z całą różnorodnością swoich wczesno- i późno-dziecięcych i młodzieńczych doświadczeń nie tylko dla siebie, ale także dla innych, jeśli w swojej późniejszej pedagogicznej pracy chcą świadomie wspierać rozwój swoich podopiecznych. Parafrazując słowa Gandhiego, można powiedzieć, że chcąc zmieniać świat i innych, sami muszą stać się zmianą. O tym u progu studiów jeszcze nie wiedzą.
Communicative competence of pedagogues/teachers/tutors determines the ways of building relations with their charges. Appropriate atmosphere of cooperation being the result of exhibiting certain interpersonal skills, including the communicative determines the possibility to support the development of people in care. Lacks within this scope pose major threat to the intellectual and emotional growth of children and youth, in extreme cases leading to enslavement. The communicative character of pedagogue’s work involves specific consequences for the mode of student training for this profession. Training which, regardless of the general concept adopted, always remains a process. Its effects depend on the mutual activities of students and academic teachers as well as a number of determinants. On the part of the students, one of the most significant ones is the internal image of the world (the results of their personal experiences) that young people begin their studies with. If disturbed, it hinders “becoming” a pedagogue preventing them from maturing to this role and their own self-creation. Making experience a point of departure, the author attempts to present the complexity of the processes of adaptation to the role of a pedagogue. She draws attention to the significance of interpersonal relations with the family for the role of a student and dealing with going through the crisis of adolescence and early adulthood falling exactly on the period of studies. Undertaking them, the students are exactly at that moment of their lives the ones who need to cope with a wide range of their early, late childhood and youthful experiences not only for them, but also for others, if – in their later pedagogical work – they want to consciously support the development of their charges. Paraphrasing Ghandi’s words, one can say that aspiring to change the world and others, they need to become a change themselves. They know nothing about it on the threshold of their studies.
