The article reveals the problem of the simultaneous development of methods of the use of information and communication technologies application in the teaching process of an educational institution. In the current conditions of education, in the conditions of war, the educational model can exist only in combination with the use of modern technologies for teaching English. The education system needs to modernize teaching methods by means of innovative tools of information and communication technologies and to carry out such training of teachers at the state level, as well as to rely on the self-education of active teachers-practitioners. Instead of simply restricting students to linear displays, such as reading text from a book, media products create this process by involving various elements to make it more dynamic and interesting. The authors analyzed the advantages and peculiarities of the technology which are actively used in the presentation of information. When introducing and updating lexical or grammatical material, it is effective to use presentations that contain not only certain information, grammatical material, but also slides with illustrations, pictures, and small text tasks. The authors also gave information about some wide spread digital platforms for teaching and learning that are convenient as for teachers so for students. Moodle is an integration platform for teaching a foreign language: it is quite stable, scalable, and modularity and support for open integration protocols have been a priority for developers from the very beginning. Puzzle English is an online platform (website and mobile applications) for self-study of a foreign language. Kahoot is a free educational platform that can be used to conduct interactive classes and test students’/pupils’ knowledge through online testing. It is suitable for studying any academic discipline in any education institution. Canva was created as a graphic resource, but now it is actively used by teachers.

The evolutionary nature of the surroundings of the modern organization, reaching out to customers and creating a relationship, becomes a condition of existence in economic space. At the same time, the development of ICT changed in a general way perspectives and range of initialization and the creation of business contacts for geographically dispersed markets. In the article, the author on the basis of deep research literature and the results of tests carried out in selected municipalities of Lower Silesia and Great Poland has pointed out the importance of ICT in initiating business contacts and creating relational capital.

W artykule opisane zostały założenia stojące u podstaw technologii wirtualizacji w szeroko rozumianym obszarze usług ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). Opracowanie przedstawia przegląd technologii stosowanych dla celów wirtualizacji w głównych obszarach ICT, tj. sieciach, pamięciach masowych, serwerach oraz stacjach roboczych. Przedstawiono w nim także tezy dotyczące wpływu technologii wirtualizacji w obszarze ICT na biznes, który uwidacznia się przez obniżenie całkowitych kosztów posiadania (Total Cost of Ownership) i szybszego zwrotu z inwestycji.
The article describes standing assumptions underlying virtualization technology in the wider field of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies). The study provides an overview of technologies used for the purpose of virtualization in key areas of ICT, such as networks, storage, servers and workstations. It presents the argument about the impact of virtualization technology in the field of ICT on business, which is reflected by the reduction in the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and a faster return on investment.

The Use of Modern Technology in the Context of Civil Society Development in Poland The progress of civilisation and the simultaneous development of modern technology have affected many areas of life, including public life. This development is accompanied by economic changes and even political or social ones. One of the manifestations of social change as a result of the development of modern technology is the emergence of modern society, referred to in the literature of the subject as information, network, digital, telematic, etc. society. At the level of individual countries, including Poland, it is expected that tools will be implemented and applied based on the achievements of modern technologies in various areas of public life. Namely, the above-mentioned technologies have found widespread use in the case of various forms of civic participation in public life, such as elections, referenda, public consultations and the right to public information. Would the "computerisation" of various forms of citizens' participation in public life change their nature? Would it make it easier for citizens to participate in public life, encourage them to take an active part and thus quell the so-called crisis of democracy? Can the use of information and telecommunication technologies have a real impact on the development of civil society?

The article discusses self-dependent development of ICT applications by clerks in public administration. The problem has become especially up-to-date because of recent corruption affairs. It seems that ICT applications’ development made “from below” can be a way to limit these occurrences. The article also presents basic information concerning PICTURE-tool. Financial exclusion can be considered as one of the important problems in countries at the average level of socioeconomic development that include, among others, Poland. It consists in the presence of difficulties in accessing and/or using financial products and services available on the main market that meet the needs of individuals, which prevents them from leading a normal life in society. Due to its own characteristics and trends in financial markets, this phenomenon is closely linked to the issue of the digital divide. Accordingly, it can be seen that solutions leading to the reduction of financial exclusion are based on tools using information technology innovations and modern technologies. One of the methods recognised as the most effective in this area is financial education, aimed largely at children and adolescents, which additionally justifies the choice of such tools. It is equally important to determine the extent to which modern instruments are preferred in comparison with traditional ones. The aim of this paper will be the analysis of the solutions based on modern technologies that are used in actions taken to prevent financial exclusion in selected EU countries, including Poland. The structure of the paper is as follows: the first part will present the problem of financial exclusion (identifying groups particularly at risk), then a review of methods of preventing and combating financial exclusion will be presented, with particular emphasis on modern ICT tools, and the final part will indicate possible directions and barriers to the solutions that may lead to a reduced level of financial exclusion of individuals. The methods used include an in-depth analysis of the literature and a review of existing solutions which financial institutions provide on the Web.

Efficient communication is the key to mutual understanding between the authorities and citizens, and thus to public support for government decisions. EU Member States follow the principle that the democracy is based on the lasting dialogue focused on the inclusion of all citizens in decision-making processes. At local level, Member States implemented communication projects and initiatives, which then became the cornerstone for national programs directed at the support of communication. The purpose of all communication initiatives is to involve the citizens in discussions concerning the development of towns, city areas, regions, states and to listen to public proposals, which are then included in the national policies. The exemplary experience of Germany, France, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland has been researched.

The article presents the results of research on the usefulness of specialized information and communication technologies (ICT) in mathematics education of visually impaired students. The aim of the research was to evaluate the benefits of using innovative technologies for both a teacher and his/her visually impaired student. Functionality and usability of proposed solutions were preliminarily evaluated. Possibility to create mathematical content available for both visually impaired and blind students in EPUB3 format was positively evaluated by all 20 surveyed teachers. At the same time, 19 teachers asked for the opinion about diverse educational tools supporting preparation of the class materials appreciated their value as significantly facilitating and time saving solutions. Vast majority of them (17) expressed the opinion that cubarithms improve the process of teaching and practicing arithmetic. Fifteen teachers stated that semantic interpretation of the formulas in Polish and the possibility to navigate easily through their structures are the factors that significantly accelerate the performance of visually impaired students. Remote desktop tool has been assessed as facilitating teacher-student cooperation both in-class and on-line. The teachers also claimed that proposed solutions may positively influence the effectiveness of mathematics education in heterogenic student group by accelerating and facilitating the didactic process. That in turn may be considered as a positive response to the challenge of inclusive education.

The article conducts a comprehensive study of public information and communication space in Ukraine, analyzes its current state considering regulatory and organizational features, identifies key challenges for quality development and modernization of the industry, and identifies key dysfunctional problems that prevent high performance in domestic development of information and communication technologies. It is argued that an important role in the constructive formation of the public information and communication sector is played by the state information policy, which should be based on such principles as openness, system, equality of interests, priority of domestic producers, social orientation. It turns out that the formation of a quality public information space contributes to the development of civil society, information society and information democracy. Comprehensive digitalization of public communication will promote openness, transparency and accessibility of public information, the formation of partnerships between the public, business, and civil sectors. Three basic stages of formation of information and communication space have been identified: strategic, organizational and control ones.

Contemporary time, interpreted by the prism of security, is no longer dominated by easy to describe inter-state conflicts or regional threats. Experts every now and then define new types of threats such as cybercrime, cyberterrorism or cyberwar. The intense and multi-level uncertainty affects the understanding of the present and the predicted future, and thus the search for security by all of us. The answer depends in part on whether we are able to understand contemporary security environment. These issues are, to my mind, independent of the place in which we are. Using tools for diagnosing and monitoring security remains an open question. At the moment we are searching for a solution to this problem by means of modern technologies. The paper stresses the importance and application of e.g. Internet technology and global telecommunication. Interpersonal relations are being replaced with technological solutions. Nowadays, a phone or a computer connected to the web is sufficient to make contact with another person or check what information official sources are bringing us today. Actions for security as a result of incorrect reception of a message may be associated with erroneous perception of the content and propaganda. As a result, the recipient is consciously manipulated. New technologies take the form of nonconventional, organized activities for security. Any number of people can cooperate through the web for security management without actual superior authority. Members of such groups, established ad hoc, may use their knowledge to express objections or dissatisfaction. The paper also presents another aspect of using technology. According to the author, there are situations in which technologies acting for reinforcing security often cause objection, motivated by restricting civil freedoms and by the threat of an attack on a free and open society.

The purpose if this paper is an analysis of the influence of modern information and communication technologies on teamwork in the university. The research has been conducted in the Department of Management of a Cracow state university in Poland. The authors of this article undertook a field-based questionnaire survey. The sample consisted of 80 participants, including undergraduate and postgraduate students of part-time studies. The underlying paper consists of both theoretical and practical parts. The first one is a literature review and the second one presents the results of the conducted studies. The findings confirm a positive influence of modern information and communication technologies on attractiveness associated with a variety of team members, influence on on teamwork promptness and monitoring the progress of work.

Various social, political and economic contexts give rise to visibly different concepts of security and these differences make one ponder on the limitations of traditional concepts of democratization and political development. Scientists, politicians and activists are now ever more boldly beginning to ask difficult but necessary questions about the appropriate dynamics of the processes of creating security and about the priorities adopted within them, searching for ways on which these processes could be co-created by traditional, local visions of needs of citizens’ safe life. The review of scholarly literature and political journalism addressing security points out new spheres of debates and subjects of controversy within this discipline. In a situation where in security-related processes governments cannot be the only ones that dominate, a question about the possibility of expanding activities with non-governmental organizations arises.

The widespread use of information and communication technologies (ICT) nowadays provokes  reflection on the teacher’s professional role in the education process. The transformation of the teacher’s role from the traditional one which perceives teaching only as a way of transmitting knowledge, to the new approach in which the teacher is seen as a mentor helping students in their autonomous human progress, seems to be a very important issue in the management of education. The process depends on the variety of factors. The author presents the results of research conducted among the teachers in one of Polish secondary schools. The results show relation between willingness of taking the new role in teaching and the level of ICT knowledge. The understanding of threats brought by ICT and the Internet to education is also an important factor.

Opis:
There are many dangerous situations for adult development related to the progress of new information technologies. The article presents a new approach to the issue of disability in the context of the changing ITC technologies and the phenomenon of aging populations. Polish society, like many European societies, is subject to the process of aging. People in late adulthood find it more difficult to learn to use new technologies more easily. This means that an increasing number of people may have problems in full-fledged functioning in society. They will become disabled in the light of the WHO definition. Appropriate education is the way to counteract this phenomenon.

This paper gives an overview of the skills that are necessary in our century and provides a hypothesis that a dynamic and self-regulated e-learning system can help reach the same learning outcomes as the means of traditional classroom training. The paper emphasises the role of analogical thinking within the context of 21st century learning. It is also argued that effective e-learning comprises of individual learning, learning by collaboration, and learning in a real world environment which motivates learners to use e-learning materials independently, and, at the same time, provides a dynamic and collaborative learning process. Two case studies provide practical examples for proving the viewpoint that e-learning can provide successful learning outcomes if specific factors are taken into account.

The study focuses on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Military Higher Education, delimited to the present moment and to the current professors and students of the Military University Institute. This study aims to analyse the relationship between ICT and teaching and learning methodologies in the context of professional military education, with emphasis on the concept of innovation in the classroom, on teaching and learning styles and on the role of ICTs in learning. The study is based on a mixed research strategy combining deductive and inductive approaches, materialized in a case study, with data collected through questionnaires, interviews and documentary analysis. This article focuses on the conceptual framework and its interconnection with the methodological strategy for the empirical study. The results presented refer to the pilot validation test of the data collection instruments and indicate that, in general, students and teachers share the same teaching-learning styles and both students and teachers show a good propensity to use ICT in the classroom.

Information and communication technologies impact many aspects of the contemporary political life. A consequence of the use of ICT in politics is undoubtedly the evolution of democratic institutions and procedures. Modern technologies find their application as tools for exercising democratic power. This is why their importance is constantly increasing. The changes that follow application of ICT and their consequences are especially interesting subject to study and research. This article aims at answering the question how modern technologies (mainly the Internet) affect the processes of contemporary democracy and what might be the consequences of such changes. The deliberations shall concern the context of political market, where three processes between three main actors (politicians/political institutions, electorate, and the media) occur: informing, communicating, and voting. ICT influence these processes by quickening supplementing, and facilitating three various types of activities: sharing information, involvement in the political debate, and participation in the political decisionmaking processes. In the article, the author also pays attention to election silence as a phenomena functioning in the background of elections (which are a very significant element of the political market). Examples provided in the article come mainly from the practises and experiences of the Polish political life.

The term smart city is increasingly used in media and across society. For the inhabitants of these cities, the implementation of the smart city concept may mean a higher level of quality of life and greater comfort of life. The main goal of this paper is the presentation of the results of the conducted study on what cities should do and how, in order to improve the quality of public transport in their city to become a smart city. Based on comparative analysis of public transport of the best smart cities in the world i.e. London, San Francisco and Singapore, this research aims at pointing out the development direction of implementing smart mobility for cities. The selected cities will be examined and compared according to the following criteria: availability of transport in the city, applied technologies in transport solutions, and the strategy for the development of transport services in the city

Research on technology integration in school classrooms convinces that digital technologies are closely related to the discourse of educational change. What really changes when digital technology is used in the classroom? This is the driving question for the present study. This research contributes knowledge on learning and teaching practices in 19 early education classrooms observed over two school semesters. The design of teaching and learning with tablet technology was explored using the didactical design framework. This perspective focuses on both teachers’ practices and students’ learning activities in the classroom and how tablet technology is integrated into teaching and learning practices. Although the research project was performed on a small scale, it can be defined as one that documents the changes to learning and teaching practices happening in the traditional educational culture of the schools under analysis. These changes were identified through the data collected by means of structured classroom observation (283 teaching hours) and interviews with classroom teachers. The analysis resulted in three distinct sets of emergent teaching and learning practices and a series of conflicts and tensions teachers experience in their everyday tablet-mediated teaching practices.

In recent years, enormous changes are noted worldwide during broad adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). These unique technologies – often perceived as economic development incentives – have a great ability to spread at high pace and low cost in countries all over the world, bringing people opportunities to contribute to economic development and growth. New Tech-nologies play a special role in developing countries, where their in-country adoption lies in the centre of development strategies. ICT are treated as tools which bring people access to information, education and knowledge, offering unlimited possibilities for wealth-creation. The paper, purely empirical in nature, reports on the pace of adoption of new Information and Communication Technologies in developing countries, and – additionally – investigates country-specific ICT diffusion patterns. We expect to uncover the S-shape curve in the diffusion process in most of developing countries, as well as in the whole country sample. For the analysis purposes, we apply all counties which – according to the World Bank nomenclature – are classified as low-income and lower-middle-income econ-omies. Our sample covers 46 countries (upper-middle-income and high-income economies are excluded from the study purposefully) which are classified as devel-oping economies. The time framework is set for the period of 2000-2011. All data necessary for the analysis are derived from World Telecommunication/ICT Indica-tors Database 2012 (16th edition).

Opis:
Electronic waste generated from Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has become a global issue as this represents a negative impact on both environment and human health. Consequently, it is noticeably useful to develop tools to soften such impact. Therefore, this article presents a rules-based system implemented in Prolog aiming at guiding ICT devices users towards good practices on electronic waste management to diminish the negative impact. The methodologies employed include exploratory, descriptive, and experimental. Even though the system developed in Prolog was found to be deficient with user interface, it is also functional and efficient, including features like usability and maintainability. In conclusion, it was found that waste recollection systems may be useful for both environmental management processes in different countries and also positive business opportunities.

This is a study on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education, with a particular emphasis on rural schools, covering topics that range from the insights of teachers on the necessary adaptation of their work methods, to the actual use of ICT in the classroom. To this end, a descriptive methodology is applied through a non-experimental design by means of a survey, targeting a sample of 217 individuals. The objective is to determine the degree of satisfaction of rural teachers of the autonomous community of Andalusia with what concerns the role of ICT and current technology management strategies. The study was carried out from the point of view of teaching and school organization. Above all, the interest lies in determining which aspects of this new reality are more appealing to the teacher, from personal and professional standpoints. Some of the most relevant results and conclusions point out a high degree of satisfaction with the novel possibilities offered by ICT while enhancing teaching and broadening professional relationships. In turn, these same conclusions highlight that the most significant constraints occur at the organizational level (e.g. management, resource allocation), which represents a key aspect for the improvement of these educational centers in the near future.

The main goal of this article is to show how early education pupils see school as a place of their development. This presentation is built upon two resources used by the contemporary Polish school – information and communication technologies and personalization of education. The presented image is based on data collected through on-line questionnaires from 1,772 pupils from Classes I–III at primary schools taking part in the project of implementing the method of tutoring “Raise a wise man”. As a result of the analysis, it can be stated that the group of the youngest students rates the school best, and the growing need to contact tutors who build with them individual relationships based on trust may indicate room for modeling the proper use of information and communication technologies.

W XXI w. człowiek może izolować się na wiele sposobów. Media oddziałują na jednostkę, m.in. na jej zachowanie, poziom wiedzy, postawy, jak również na kulturę, zmieniając postrzeganie życia rodzinnego, zawodowego oraz modelu uczenia się. Przemiany kulturowe mają związek z poszerzaniem się obszaru wolności. Lansowanie postmodernistycznej ideologii oraz stylu w połączeniu z rozwojem ekonomicznym i postępem technologicznym, a także wszechobecną reklamą doprowadziło do powstania kultury konsumpcji. Odpowiedzią na tę tendencje może być zaangażowanie społeczne, praca wolontarystyczna oraz aktywne uczestniczenie czy wręcz kreowanie przestrzeni medialnej. Coraz częściej działalność prospołeczna jest wspomagane przez nowoczesne technologie informacyjno-komunikacyjne czy aplikacje mobilne, a coraz szybciej rozwijającą się częścią trzeciego sektora jest tak zwany e-wolontariat.
In the 21st century, man can isolate himself in many ways. Media affect the unit among others on its behavior, level of knowledge, attitudes as well as affect culture, changing the perception of family and professional life, as well as the learning model. Cultural changes are related to the expansion of the area of freedom, the promotion of postmodern ideology and style in connection with economic development and technological progress, and omnipresent advertising, which led to the emergence of a culture of consumption. The response to this tendency may be social involvement, volunteer work and active participation, or even the creation of media space. Increasingly, pro-social activity is supported by modern information and communication technologies or mobile applications, and so-called e-volunteering is an increasingly fast-growing part of the third sector.

Characterized by a substantial diversity and falling within the property law domain, land registration systems have been excluded from the European Union harmonization process. At the same time, however, cross-border access to land registry information is critical for the development of the internal market. Therefore, several ambitious strategies are being pursued at the European level to interconnect national land registers by fully exploiting the possibilities offered by the latest technological advances. This article investigates the effect of transnational cooperation initiatives aimed at interconnecting electronic land registers within the European e-Justice program for the enhancement of the integration of the real estate markets in Member States. In this respect, legal challenges connected with the standardization of land information are addressed from comparative and harmonization perspectives.

Background: The use of information and communication technologies by employees of organizations may cause technostress for their users. The sources of technostress in organizations are techno-overload, techno-invasion, techno-complexity, techno-insecurity, techno-uncertainty. An organization may also have technostress inhibitors that counteract the experience of technostress. Material and Methods: The purpose of this research was to determine the psychometric properties of the Polish adaptation of Technostress Creators and Technostress Inhibitors Scale. Results: In the first study (N = 632), the 8-factor structure of the questionnaire was confirmed by the use of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Furthermore, a high internal consistency of the adapted method was obtained. The second study (N = 451) confirmed the external validity of the adapted method by correlating it with the Perceived Stress Scale. The third study (N = 123) confirmed high stability at the time of results obtained in 2 measurements with the adapted scale. Conclusions: To conclude, it can be stated that the Polish adaptation of the Technostress Creators and Technostress Inhibitors Scale is characterized by good psychometric indicators and can be successfully used in various organizations in the diagnosis and reduction of technostress.

During recent decades, the rate of structural shifts in the world economy has been especially fast. One of the factors used to influence these processes was to actively develop hi-tech industries and information and communication technologies. With the course of time, the level of informatization of society becomes a defining factor for a country’s competitiveness and predefines its ability to integrate into the global economy. The article characterizes the readiness of different countries to make a move to an innovative way of development based on analysis of combined rating tables that contain integral indices of society’s informatization level. The level of accomplishment of the task to form an innovative type of economy can be assessed in the link between implementation of science and technology progress achievements (i.e.: through the use of information and communication technologies) and the level of socio-economic development of the world countries. Current positions held by Russia and Poland according to some integral indices are also being analyzed.

Artykuł podzielono na trzy części.W pierwszej z nich omówiona została aktualna sytuacja na rynku usług TSL w Polsce. W kolejnejczęści artykułu omówiono pojęcie technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych oraz możliwości ichzastosowania w logistyce. W trzeciej części artykułu dokonano analizy danych statystycznych dotyczącychwykorzystania ICT w działalności firm z sektora usług TSL w naszym kraju.
The purpose of this article is to analyze the use of information and communication technologies – ICT in enterprises of the logistics industry. The article is divided into three parts. The first of them, discusses the current situation in the market of services TSL in Poland. The next part of the article discusses the concept of information and communication technologies and their applications in logistics. In the third part of the article the statistics on the use of ICT in the business of TSL services sector in our country are presented.

Regardless of how the contemporary young generation is described, there is no doubt that their permanent connection to the Internet and an incredible expertise in using information and communication technologies are one of the features that define those who grow up at the present time. Such strong involvement in digital media entails a number of health and development consequences for children and teenagers. In order to minimize the potential risks and negative effects of new media, it is essential to take action aimed at increasing awareness in terms of positive and negative aspects of using digital devices as well as at gaining abilities to use them in a way that is the most optimal and favourable for health. Currently, this issue constitutes a great challenge for teachers, parents, and carers for whom implementing health-seeking attitudes and behaviours of the young generation may be, taking into consideration the attractiveness of electronic media and virtual world, an enormously difficult task.

Współczesną rzeczywistość charakteryzuje niezwykle dynamiczny rozwój techniki i technolo-gii, niemal lawinowy przyrost informacji oraz duży dynamizm zmian dotyczących wszystkich sfer naszego życia. Jednocześnie w tak zmieniającej się rzeczywistości mamy do czynienia z pasjonującym rozwojem nowych technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych, które w sposób nieograniczony umożliwiają przyswajanie i przetwarzanie informacji i wzajemne komunikowa-nie się. Rzecz jednak w tym, aby możliwości te wszyscy potrafili właściwie spożytkować dla dobra własnego i społecznego. Żeby jednak było to możliwe niezbędne jest nowe podejście do szeroko rozumianej edukacji. To przed nią jawią się różnego rodzaju wyzwania, które mają sprawić, że szkoła stanie się nowoczesną i przyjazną instytucją oświatową a jej absolwent bę-dzie dobrze przygotowany do właściwego (w domyśle twórczego) spożytkowania owych moż-liwości. Artykuł ten poświęcony został tej właśnie problematyce. Zarysowano w nim zarówno niedostatki wynikające wciąż z tradycyjnego podejścia do procesów edukacyjnych, jak również swoistego rodzaju trendy i wyzwania formułowane pod adresem składników systemu edukacji. Wskazano również na podstawowe technoedukacyjne możliwości jakie jawią się przed eduka-cją w związku z powszechnym dostępem do coraz to nowszej generacji narzędzi i technologii informacyjno- komunikacyjnych.
Modern reality is characterized by extremely dynamic development of technology technics and technology, rapid grow of information and a great dynamism of changes in all our spheres of life. At the same time in such a changing reality, we are dealing with the exciting development of new information and communication technologies which allow us to acquire and process in-formation, comunicate with each other in unlimited way. The thing is that all these capabilities could be used properly for their own and social good. However, in order to do so, a new ap-proach to widely understood education is needed. There are various challenges facing the school that will make the school to be a modern and friendly educational institution and for its gradu-ates to be well prepared for the proper (creative) use of these opportunities. This article is dedi-cated to this particular issue. It outlines both the shortcomings arising from the traditional ap-proach to educational processes as well as the specific types of trends and challenges formulated for the components of the education system. It also pointed to the basic technological options that are emerging from education in view of the widespread access to ever-increasing generation of ICT tools and technologies.

The paper focuses on barriers to the development of a knowledge-based economy in Poland. The author analyzes views about the knowledge-based economy presented in professional literature. She examines the conditions for the development of the economy, considering changes in geographic factors and economic policy. Her analysis of the knowledge-based economy is based on a presentation of statistical data and reports. Lissowska also considers information on the European Union’s plans to enhance research and innovation across Europe. The analysis shows that the knowledge-based economy is insufficiently developed and differs unfavorably from the state prior to transition and from the average state displayed by other EU countries with a similar level of development. Industrial enterprises display insufficient initiative, with little involvement among foreign-owned companies to create innovation in their research centers in Poland. Small technology-oriented firms have made little effort despite their intellectual potential and possibilities. The main barriers to the development of the knowledge-based economy include the unfavorable legacy of the period prior to transition and imperfect industrial and innovation policies, along with an inadequate institutional and organizational environment. These imperfections may aggravate the vicious circle of uncertainty by adding to risk avoidance among suppliers of capital and an insufficient absorption of innovation, the author concludes. To tap the existing intellectual potential and make good use of the growing amount of funds (including EU structural funds and money for research and competitiveness promotion), it is necessary to focus on institutional and organizational tools likely to encourage potential investors and enable them to pursue knowledge-based projects.

W pracy poruszony został problem stosunkowo nowego zjawiska, jakim jest ekonomia współdzielenia (sharing economy). Jest ona także określana jako wspólna konsumpcja – dzielimy się tym, co posiadamy, mogą to być wiedza, umiejętności czy dobra materialne. Model ekonomii współdzielenia polega na zasadzie, że obie strony zyskują. Popularność ekonomii współdzielenia rośnie z powodu globalizacji oraz rozwoju technologii informacyjno- komunikacyjnych (ICT). W artykule przedstawiono główne modele biznesowe, takie jak dzielenie pojazdów, mieszkań czy innych dóbr, na tle rozwoju wszelkiego rodzaju platform internetowych, a co za tym idzie –zwiększającego się stale dostępu do Internetu, zarówno w Polsce jak i w Unii Europejskiej i na świecie. Przedstawione zostały statystyki dotyczące liczby pracujących oraz liczby przedsiębiorstw w sektorze ICT w Polsce. Omówiono także najpopularniejsze portale aukcyjne w Polsce i na świecie. Poruszony został również problem czy ekonomia współdzielenia niesie za sobą same korzyści.
The problem of a relatively new phenomenon, the sharing economy, has been addressed in the work. It is also referred to common consumption − we share what we have, it may be knowledge, skills or material goods. The sharing economy model is based on the principle that both sides gain. The popularity of the sharing economy is growing due to the globalization and development of information and communication technologies (ICT). The article presents the main business models such as sharing vehicles, apartments or other goods in the context of the development of all kinds of Internet platforms and, consequently, constantly increasing access to the Internet, both in Poland and in the European Union. Statistics on the number of employees and the number of enterprises in the ICT sector in Poland were presented. The most popular auction portals in Poland and in the world were also discussed. The problem was also raised whether the sharing economy brings benefits.

Today's cities face many challenges, including those related to the aging of the population, climate change, or broadly understood public safety and health. Examples from many places around the world show that without access to modern technologies, cities, companies, and public institutions could not function, provide services or care for the safety of billions of people living in urban areas. That is especially vital in conditions of the threat to many people's health and life and shutdown of economies caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Therefore, the article aims to present selected examples of smart solutions used in cities in the face of the challenges related to ensuring security. Their functionality in pandemic conditions is also described both at present and if the state of emergency continued for the following years. The study proved that the importance of smart solutions for contemporary cities' functioning is growing in the face of the threat to the residents' health and life caused by COVID-19. That mainly applies to tools in the area of e-government, e-education, and e-services in the healthcare sector, including applications for reporting and informing about clusters of virus infections.

The article delineates the changes that have taken place as a result of the use of new media, especially the Internet, in the context of the development of information and communication technologies, and describes the differences between classical communication and web contacts. The most common types of Internet threats and the ambiguous influence of online contacts on the social life of an individual are discussed. It is emphasised that new media have numerous advantages, but they can also cause risky situations, and therefore it is necessary to provide education in this area, especially (but not only) to young generations. Further multifaceted research is also recommended to enable the diagnosis of the changing reality and develop solutions to problems related to the use of information and communication technologies.
W artykule omówiono przemiany, jakie się dokonały poprzez użytkowanie nowych mediów, zwłaszcza internetu, uwzględniając kontekst powstania i rozwoju technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych, przedstawiono też różnice pomiędzy klasyczną komunikacją a kontaktami internetowymi. Scharakteryzowano najczęstsze rodzaje zagrożeń internetowych i omówiono niejednoznaczny wpływ kontaktów sieciowych na człowieka i jego życie społeczne, w tym przede wszystkim więzi z innymi. Podkreślono, że nowe media mają wiele zalet, mogą jednak być również źródłem wielu ryzykownych sytuacji, dlatego konieczna jest edukacja w tym zakresie, obejmująca zwłaszcza (choć nie tylko) młode pokolenia. Wskazane są też dalsze wieloaspektowe badania, które umożliwiałyby diagnozę zmieniającej się rzeczywistości i służyły opracowywaniu rozwiązań problemów związanych z ryzykiem, jakie towarzyszy użytkowaniu technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych.

As number of studies show, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have become important factor of economic activity worldwide. This article presents a proposal of a theoretical approach to contemporary geography of economic activity - a phenomena narrowed here to business processes usually referred to as information or knowledge-based sector of the economy. The reasoning is based on a theoretical model presented by Michael Storper that has been developed further. The output shows the existence of a distinctive paradox of digital era: the ICT potentially being able to overcome spatial barriers, lead to refocusing on spatial dimension of business. It is concluded that ICT introduce new dimension of division of business process and labor, namely a spatial one. It is leading to worldwide reconfiguration of the geography of economic activity developed under fordist regime of production - hitherto separate areas and territories are being transformed into network economy of distant yet linked places.

The process of ageing of modern societies is the source of substantial challenges for social and health care systems. The growing number of elderly persons may be perceived both in terms of the burden but also as an opportunity. On one hand, elderly population requires additional forms of care and support. On the other hand, older persons shape a market for various types of services and products supporting them in independent and secure life. Ageing usually results in progressing limitations of the sensory and cognitive functions as well as mobility. Thus, elderly population is a target audience for products belonging to the domain of assistive technologies. This term origins from first regulations accepted in USA in 60. in XX century in relation to elderly persons. Nowadays, it is used as umbrella term for all tools and systems applied for maintaining or increasing functional capacities of the person with various types of disabilities. Assistive technologies cover whole spectrum of products differing both in term of technical sophistication and complexity. There are many classes of assistive technologies which could be used by elderly persons depending on functional limitations occurring in a specific person. The solutions available currently demonstrates high technical advancement and trend for coverage of diversified aspects of every day living. The progress in the domain of supportive tools for elderly persons resulted in the concept of ambient assisted living. The concept is based on the desire of developing friendly and attentive environment for elderly persons assuring them independent and comfortable living. Ambient assisted living integrates the use of advanced sensory and communication technologies integrated as „smart home” and telemonitoring systems used not only in medical but also social context. The expectation of establishment of supporting environment of living for elderly persons is also inherently linked to growth of the Information Society and ongoing embedment of information and communication technologies in all aspects of life.

The Research Studio eLearning Environments has developed the “Learning Pulse”. The “Learning Pulse” makes use of a PUSH technology and supports repetitive learning activities by utilizing ICT. The PUSH technology is based on external initiation of a learning activity. This terminology is derived from webapplication programming. This article reflects on the background and the relationship between the “Learning Pulse” and lifelong learning, focusing on aspects of motivation, flexibility, and learner dropouts. In the second part the idea behind the “Learning Pulse” is compared with the settings in which “conventional” self directed learning takes place. Based on these assumptions it is described how the PUSH approach can be used for embedding learning activities into the daily routine of a learner.

Wykorzystanie mediów elektronicznych jest cechą zasadni-czych zmian społecznych i ekonomicznych w skali międzynarodowej i globalnej, określanych mianem tworzenia społeczeństwa informacyjnego. Zmienia ona tradycyjne pojmowanie nadawcy, odbiorcy oraz treści i formy samego przekazu. Uczestnicy procesu komunikowania mogą wzajem-nie zamieniać się rolami. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie istoty modelu komunikacji w hipermedialnym środowi-sku komputerowym oraz jego roli w budowaniu wartości dla przedsiębiorstwa i klienta.
Nowadays, a large role in the creation and delivery of value plays a process of continuous communication with a 'consumer – the company – the consumer "supported by modern electronic media. This allows you to communicate on a global scale, unprecedented in earlier forms of mass communication. Use of electronic media is a fundamental feature of social and economic changes in the international and global, referred to as an information society. It changes the traditional understanding of the sender, the recipient and the content and form of the communication itself. Participants in the communication process can be interchanged roles.This article presents the essence of communication model in hypermedia computing environment and its role in building the value of the firm and the client.

Nowoczesne technologie bezpowrotnie zaistniały dziś jako komponent świata realnego, tym samym nakreślając cyfrową modernizację szkoły dążącą do synergii technologii i edukacji. Niezaprzeczalne zatem stało się wyposażenie studentów-przyszłych nauczycieli w wiedzę i umiejętności umożliwiające im podejmowanie w przyszłej pracy zawodowej innowacyjnych działań z wykorzystaniem technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych. Przedmiotem zainteresowania uczyniono samooceny studentów kierunku nauczycielskiego odnoszące się do ich przygotowania w zakresie stosowania narzędzi TIK w swoim warsztacie pracy.
Modern technologies have irrevocably existed today as a component of the real world, thus outlining the digital modernization of the school striving for synergy of technology and education. It has become undeniable to equip the students-future teachers with knowledge and skills enabling them to take innovative activities in their future professional work with the use of information and communication technologies. The subject of interest was the self-assessment of the teaching faculty students regarding their preparation for the use of ICT tools at their work.

This paper is dealing of new technologies in Physics education at the University of Presov. We give our particularly attention to the inclusion of interactive whiteboard SMART Board in the educational process at schools. In short, we present the first phase of the project KEGA, which deals with issues of IWB.

Opis:
Technologie informacyjno-komunikacyjne są wszechobecne w życiu osób młodocianych już od najwcześniejszych lat ich życia. Głównym celem pracy było przedstawienie szans i zagrożeń, jakie niosą technologie informacyjno-komunikacyjne wykorzystywane przez młodzież, na podstawie analizy literatury przedmiotu i badań własnych autorki. Nie tylko same instrumenty ICT, lecz sposób ich wykorzystywania przez dzieci i młodzież decyduje o ich korzystnym lub niekorzystnym wpływie. Nowoczesne ICT to zagrożenia wynikające z niewłaściwego i dysfunkcyjnego sposobu korzystania z nich (m.in. problemowe korzystanie z Internetu, telefonu komórkowego, nadużywanie gier komputerowych), ale to także możliwości zastosowania i wykorzystywania ICT w edukacji, stwarzające szanse rozwoju wielu młodym i zdolnym osobom.
Information and communication technologies are omnipresent in adolescent persons’ lives from the earliest years. On the basis of an analysis of subject literature and author’s own research, the main objective of this study is the presentation of opportunities and threats which are brought by information and communication technologies used by adolescents. The modern information and communication technologies are the threats resulting from improper and dysfunctional making use of them (problematic Internet and mobile phone use and overuse of computer games), but simultaneously they give the opportunity to use ICT in education, creating favorable circumstances for many young people.
