The combustion temperature is one of parameters influencing the efficiency of combustion process. The analytical, model and design calculations of processes related to fuel combustion and heat exchange intensity require the combustion temperature to be correctly determined. These are, however, complex, and, as a consequence, burdensome and time-consuming requirements. Developing an appropriate software program will considerably streamline the calculation procedure. Based on analytical relationships for the combustion process, a computational software program has been developed within this study, which enables the determination of the calorimetric, theoretical and actual combustion temperatures of solid fuels.

Different kinds of solid composite propellant (SCP) are described. All ways to increase energetic potential of SCP are considered as well as pro et contra of each of these ways. Different kinds of oxidizer (perchlorates of ammonium, hydroxylammonium, and hydrazinium; ammonium salt of dinitramine; other saltlike and molecular oxidizers) are under consideration. The main principles creation of SCP formulation with optimal characteristics in the context of their concrete purpose are discussed, e.g. for rockets with considerably low ratio propellant volume/empty construction mass (V/M lower than 1 Litr/kg or so) the ballistic effectiveness may be increased with the replacement of aluminum by high-dense zirconium or zirconium hydride. Possibilities for creation of special SCP formulations for application at the far space, e.g. for Mars exploration are discussed as well.

The basis of basic research consists in the influence monitoring of unconventional (extremely low temperatures) charging intercooling on the selected ecological and economical parameters of a turbocharged internal combustion engine in the specific operational conditions (periodic starts and stops). The paper deals with the influence of the mentioned temperatures from the point of view of the harmful gaseous emissions production withfocus on NOx. The theoretical analysis, consequential mathematical modelling (in Fluent) of the utilizing of the extremely low temperatures of charging after the intercooler in the range from 30°C to near above zero temperatures of the turbocharged engine should define the changes trends in its power parameters and exhaust gas emissions production mostly NOx. At the same time it should consider the influence of the extremely low temperatures of charging on the engine inner corrosion at the periodic engine starts and stops. The mathematical model should allow alternatively solving possible risks resulting from the proposal newness and originality. From the proposal it is expected to obtain more effective energy utilization, the decrease of the environment ecological load compared with the standard solution and the possibility of creation of the permanent sustainable energetic system. The possibilities of the design solution for the system of extremely low temperatures of air fuel mixture are also presented in the paper.

Opis:
Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) is a promising low temperature combustion technology which offers high fuel efficiency and extremely low exhaust emissions. However, there are still some pending issues to be resolved before the technology will achieve mass production level. Namely, combustion controllability should be improved and HCCI operating range should be widen. The latter is constrained by excessive combustion rates under high loads. In this study, advanced variable valve actuation strategies were applied to control auto-ignition timings and combustion rates. The examinations were conducted using single-cylinder research engine fuelled with directly injected gasoline. The HCCI combustion was achieved using negative valve overlap technique. The engine was run under boosted conditions, in an operation regime where acceptable pressure rise rate (PRR) level is usually exceeded. Selected valve timing sweeps were carried out within a scope of the experiments to evaluate PRR reduction potential. The obtained results manifested superior combustion controllability. Late exhaust valve closing enabled reduction of the amount of internally re-circulated exhaust, which propagated to the main event combustion. From the intake side, two effects were observed, i.e. variability of the intake air aspiration and variability of the apparent compression ratio. Both phenomena were found to affect combustion timings and rates.

Average combustion temperatures inside a turbo diesel engine for the same load and the same total doze of fuel for two rotational speeds: 2004 [rpm] and 4250 [rpm] are presented in this paper. The aim of this work is also the evaluation of the influence of the temporary course of the fuel injection characteristics on forming temperature in the engine cylinder space for these temperatures. The calculations were carried out by means of two zone combustion model .
W pracy zostały przedstawione obliczenia średniej temperatury spalania wewnątrz doładowanego silnika z zapłonem samoczynnym, dla tego samego obciążenia i tej samej sumarycznej dawki paliwa dla dwóch prędkości obrotowych: 2004[min"1] oraz 4250[min"1]. Celem realizowanej pracy była również ocena wpływu chwilowego przebiegu charakterystyki wtrysku paliwa na kształtowanie się temperatury w przestrzeni cylindra silnika dla tych prędkości. Obliczenia zostały przeprowadzone przy zastosowaniu dwustrefowego modelu procesu spalania.

Opis:
The resources of coal-bed methane in Poland, and especially in Upper-Silesian Coal Basin are estimated on tens of billions cubic meters. These are significant raw material quantities, that should take an interest in terms of acquiring them and producing in safe manner. Considering, however, very low permeability of coal-bed formations, such accumulation of hydrocarbons can be counted among unconventional deposits, requiring specific first working method. Well-known and properly mastered method of influencing the gas-rich coal-bed, consisting in reducing formation pressure by rock-mass stress relieving, effected by means of dewatering of coal beds, gives only moderate production and economical results. Despite the rock-mass pressure decreasing down to sorption isotherm value will result in process of releasing adsorbed methane, the negligible permeability of coal rock forces searching of additional, more effective methods of coal beds stimulation, facilitating flow of released methane through the formation. In opinion of the work authors, application of gas-fracturing technology using low combustion temperature propellants may contribute to effective releasing of methane and flow of the gas to producing boreholes.
Zasoby metanu zalegającego w pokładach węgla kamiennego w Polsce, zwłaszcza w Górnośląskim Zagłębiu Węglowym, szacowane są na dziesiątki miliardów metrów sześciennych. Są to znaczne ilości surowca, którymi należy się zainteresować w kontekście pozyskania i ich bezpiecznej eksploatacji. Jednak z uwagi na bardzo niską przepuszczalność formacji węglowej taką akumulację węglowodorów możemy nazwać złożem niekonwencjonalnym, wymagającym szczególnego sposobu udostępnienia. Rozpowszechniona i dobrze opanowana metoda oddziaływania na gazonośny pokład węgla, polegająca na obniżeniu ciśnienia w złożu przez odprężenie górotworu, powodowane odwodnieniem pokładów węgla, przynosi umiarkowane rezultaty eksploatacyjne i ekonomiczne. Jakkolwiek obniżenie ciśnienia w górotworze do wartości izotermy sorpcji powoduje proces uwolnienia zaabsorbowanego metanu, to jednak znikoma przepuszczalność skały węglowej wymusza poszukiwanie dodatkowych, bardziej efektywnych metod stymulacji pokładów węgla umożliwiających przepływ uwolnionego metanu w złożu. Zdaniem autorów zastosowanie technologii szczelinowania gazowego z zastosowaniem propelantów o niskiej temperaturze spalania może przyczynić się do skutecznego uwolnienia metanu i przepływu gazu do otworów eksploatacyjnych.

A review on the CHN analysis of organic compounds and the CN environmental analysis is described. The review contains outline of the evolutionary development of elementary analysis, since Gay-Lussac, Dumas and Liebig era until a present slate analysis, with computer controlled, fully automated analyzers. Physical principles of high temperature and low temperature combustions are discussed. Technical foundations on conjunctions of the high temperature combustion with chromatographic separations of the ultimate combustion products of organic samples, is delineated. Commercially available elemental analyzers are compared and their construction and operating principles are described. The basic methods of determination of environmental carbon and nitrogen are discussed. The representative analyzers for environmental carbon and nitrogen analysis are presented and their operating principles are described.

The main target of this work was to investigate on the 1-cyl. research engine concerning practical realization possibilities of cold-flame-combustion when operating with high and very high Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) rates. After determining of possibilities of lowering NOx and Soot emissions for EGR rates ca. 40-60% some further investigation on optimization of SOIand CoC parameters were performed. Additionally, some preliminary investigations of the optimization of combustion parameters when applying various strategies of multi-injection have been conducted and analyzed.
Głównym celem badań było uzyskanie efektu spalania niskotemperaturowego skutkującego zmniejszeniem emisji NOx wraz z jednoczesnym zmniejszeniem emisji sadzy (cząstek stałych) dzięki zastosowaniu dużego stopnia recyrkulowanych spalin. Po uzyskaniu możliwości obniżenia emisji NOx i sadzy przy zastosowaniu recyrkulacji spalin o udziale 40-60%, prowadzono dalsze badania nad optymalizacją parametrów SOI i CoC. Dodatkowo, prowadzono wybrane wstępne badania optymalizacyjne parametrów procesu spalania przy stosowaniu różnych strategii wtrysku wieloczęściowego.

In this article has been found that the most popular and widely used method of cooling is liquid cooling, which ensures uniformity of temperature around the combustion chamber and easy acquisition and transfer of heat, although the properties of water are limited by maximum temperature of the coolant. Preliminary scientific research of such a system indicates the possibility of increasing overall efficiency and reducing toxic components in exhaust gases at low engine loads when the engine exhaust temperature of the classic system is too low for efficient catalytic action. This paper presents the dynamometer test stand designed and built using original components of diesel engine 4CT90 production of WSW "ANDORIA" SA. Presented system was designed for the four cylinder with indirect fuel injection system. Research was made on the engine dynamometer stand, which was equipped with standard measure devices (measures: speed, torque, temperatures, flows) and exhaust gas analysers. The temperature of this liquid was increased to the higher level than temperature of boiling water in normal conditions. Overpressure inside the cooling system was limited to 0.3 MPa, the temperature inside the cooling system was increased to 115–120°C. During the test, the cooling system was filled with coolant at 90%. The selected results of investigations of the cooling system for the combustion engine working with higher temperature of the cooling liquid, where the influence of speed and load on the engine temperature were presented.

The difficulties in obtaining the start of piston combustion engines increase at low temperature conditions. Lowering abilities of a diesel engine to undertake the independent operating, at low temperature, result from its influence on exploitation materials, engine systems properties, and directly from low ering the temperature of sucked-up into the engine cylinders air. The successful engine start-up depends on three independent parameters: engine (and ambient) temperature, engine crankshaft rotational speed extorted by starting system and the time period at which this system is operating. An individual engine starting abilities measure can be the time of starter motor operating at aparticular temperature or its start-up limit temperature determined according to a specified research standard. The dependence of start-up time or start-up limit temperature on any particular factor is the engine starting characteristic. The combustion engine is a very complex object in respect of its starting abilities. If the engine constructionai adjustment and exploitation parameters are changed, the start-up characteristic (function) is a multi-dimensional function. Formally, from mathematical point of view, it is a surface in a multidimensional space. It is possible to obtain any engine starting characteristic by multidimensional starting surface intersection. In the paper there are presented examples of one- and multi- dimensional diesel engine starting characteristics as results of long-lasting starting tests of many engines.

The selected results of investigations of the cooling system for the combustion engine working with higher temperature of the cooling liquid were presented. The temperature of this liquid were increased to the temperature of boiling water, as a basic compound of the cooling liquid. This system was designed for the four cylinder diesel engine 4CT90 with indirect fuel injection system. Investigation was realized on the dynamometer stand equipped with standard measure devices (measures: speed, torque, temperatures, flows) and exhaust gas analyzers. The speed and torque engine characteristics were determined. The over pressure inside cooling system was limited up to 0.07 MPa regarding lower pressure structural integrity of the standard units of this system. Intensity of the cooling, protective against too higher pressure, were changed by switching small and full liquid circulation, and one or two fans of the cooler. temperature inside cooling system was increased up to 110 centigrade. Results ofincreasing of the cooler temperature were lower frictions of unburned products of combustion process (CO and HC) in the exhaust gas (up to 50%) in low torque and low engine speed. This is area when catalytic reactor does not work because too low is exhaust gas temperature. It wasfound that engine economy was increased to 7% in maocimum load and high engine speed.

The second part of the article describes the technology of marine engine diagnostics making use of dynamic measurements of the exhaust gas temperature. Little-known achievements of Prof. S. Rutkowski of the Naval College in Gdynia (now: Polish Naval Academy) in this area are presented. A novel approach is proposed which consists in the use of the measured exhaust gas temperature dynamics for qualitative and quantitative assessment of the enthalpy flux of successive pressure pulses of the exhaust gas supplying the marine engine turbocompressor. General design assumptions are presented for the measuring and diagnostic system which makes use of a sheathed thermocouple installed in the engine exhaust gas manifold. The corrected thermal inertia of the thermocouple enables to reproduce a real timehistory of exhaust gas temperature changes.

The article discusses the problem of diagnostic informativeness of exhaust gas temperature measurements in turbocharged marine internal combustion engines. Theoretical principles of the process of exhaust gas flow in turbocharger inlet channels are analysed in its dynamic and energetic aspects. Diagnostic parameters are defined which enable to formulate general evaluation of technical condition of the engine based on standard online measurements of the exhaust gas temperature. A proposal is made to extend the parametric methods of diagnosing workspaces in turbocharged marine engines by analysing time-histories of enthalpy changes of the exhaust gas flowing to the turbocompressor turbine. Such a time-history can be worked out based on dynamic measurements of the exhaust gas temperature, performed using a specially designed sheathed thermocouple. The first part of the article discusses possibilities to perform diagnostic inference about technical condition of a marine engine with pulse turbocharging system based on standard measurements of exhaust gas temperature in characteristic control cross-sections of its thermal and flow system. Selected metrological issues of online exhaust gas temperature measurements in those engines are discusses in detail, with special attention being focused on the observed disturbances and thermodynamic interpretation of the recorded measuring signal. Diagnostic informativeness of the exhaust gas temperature measurements performed in steady-state conditions of engine operation is analysed in the context of possible evaluations of technical condition of the engine workspaces, the injection system, and the fuel delivery process.

The work is focused on an experimental test of temperature development in a scale model. Various types of combustible materials were used in the test in combination with the spruce wood. The work points to the influence of the fuel source on selected parameters of a fire in an enclosed space. The course of a fire is influenced by various factors. The course of a fire in an enclosed space differs from the course of a fire in an open space. As a part of the overall development of the fire, the temperature of the fire is affected. Therefore, one can state that the parameters affecting the development of an internal fire also have a direct effect on the temperature development. The main goal of this work is to compare different types of materials in terms of the properties they manifest during a fire. The practical part contains the analysis of the materials used in the experiment. Description of the scale model and of the measuring control panel are the content of another part of the work. In the end there is a comparison of the individual temperature curves.

Opis:
The EU funded project “Powerful” supported the creation of new solutions to reduce fuel consumption and emission levels below current levels. The task of the related project, performed with a Golf 6 Variant TDI® BMT, is the achievement of 98 g CO2/km in NEDC under respect of EU6 minus 10% emission limits. This article describes the general activities undertaken regarding the overall technical approach, the efforts of developing the research engine, it´s integration into a special validator vehicle and the main results. Some technical features like LTC (Low Temperature Combustion) or heat storage system of engine and vehicle are described more detailed. Beside the NEDC also more dynamic cycles have been investigated including real world driving.
Finansowany przez UE projekt "Powerful" wspiera tworzenie nowych rozwiązań, w celu zmniejszenia zużycia paliwa i obniżenia emisji związków toksycznych poniżej obecnie obowiązujących poziomów. W ramach projektu wykonano badania na pojeździe Golf 6 Variant TDI® BMT, osiągając poziom emisji 98 g CO2/km w teście NEDC względem normy Euro 6 minus 10% wielkości emisji. W artykule opisano ogólne działania podejmowane w zakresie podejścia koncepcyjnego, rozwijania koncepcji na silniku badawczy, integracji zaproponowanych rozwiązań w specjalnym pojeździe weryfikującym oraz przedstawiono główne wyniki badań. Niektóre koncepcje jak LTC (spalanie niskotemperaturowe) oraz systemu magazynowania ciepła z silnika i pojazdu zostały opisane bardziej szczegółowo. Oprócz testu NEDC przeprowadzono również badania w cyklach jezdnych odwzorowujących rzeczywiste warunki jazdy.

In the paper a model test stand designed and built using original components of diesel engine 4CT90 is presented. The stand provides working conditions as close as possible to the exploitation conditions of the engine cooling system. This applies both to the intensity of heat inside the cylinders of the engine, the temperature uniformity along the cylinder axis, as well as variable-speed water pump. Research carried out on the model stand were aimed at checking the operation of the cooling intensity control with varying levels of filling of the cooling system and develop a control method of the cooling system before testing on the dynamometer stand. In addition, system operation at elevated cooling liquid pressure for the possibility of obtaining the elevated coolant temperature were checked. The influence of working conditions on the level of the temperature was also analysed. In this paper, the characteristics selected for two values of pressure, for 0.15 MPa and 0.2 MPa, and for two different values of the degree of filling of the cooling liquid were presented. During the warming-up and continuous heating of the cylinder and the cylinder head by electrical heaters, temperature and overpressure courses before and after the liquid radiator, temperature before the inlet and outlet of the liquid from the engine and the temperature at selected points inside the engine water jacket are designated. The results of measurements of the coolant pump flow at different speed water pump were also presented in this paper.

The liability of coal to spontaneous combustion is the principal cause of mine fires. Spontaneous combustion is one of the main threats in Polish and Vietnamese coal mines. The article presents an analysis of the spontaneous combustion of coal in mines of both countries. It is related to the natural prone of coal to spontaneous heating and consequently to its self-ignition. Despite the relevant recognition of the methods of preventing this threat, in mines, spontaneous combustion occurs during the exploitation of coal seams with low and very high self-ignition tendency. Apart from the technical factors related to the design of coal seam mining, the properties of coal have a significant impact on the occurrence of spontaneous combustion. Their correct recognition is essential to the precautions against spontaneous combustion for minimalizing the risk of a mine fire. Therefore, it is necessary to study the factors influencing the propensity of coal to spontaneous heating. A review of the methods used to determine the propensity of coal to spontaneous combustion is presented in the article. Based on the high-temperature method of determining the propensity of coals to spontaneous combustion, the influence of selected factors related to samples' preparation for testing on the determination result was investigated. The influence of the fractional decomposition and the moisture content in the prepared samples on the determination result was demonstrated. The presented research results may improve research procedures for determining the propensity of coal to spontaneous combustion.

spalinowego jest bardzo istotna. Można go uzyskać, między innymi, na drodze eksperymentalnej. Pole temperatur tłoka, ze względu na warunki jego pracy jest bardzo zróżnicowane. W warunkach ustalonej pracy silnika temperatura maksymalna tłoka sięga 670K od strony komory spalania i spada aż do 390K od strony skrzyni korbowej. Ponieważ pomiar temperatury tłoka jest dokonywany w ograniczonej liczbie punktów pomiarowych, w których temperatura nie musi osiągać wartości ekstremalnych, otrzymuje się przybliżony obraz rozkładu temperatur i jej gradientów. Dobór aparatury badawczej, jak również sposobu przekazywania sygnału jest niezwykle ważny do precyzyjnego wykonania pomiarów. W artykule tym przedstawiono rodzaje czujników pomiarowych, które stosowane są w doświadczalnym wyznaczaniu temperatury tłoka. Należą do nich: (możliwości) wyprowadzania sygnału pomiarowego na zewnątrz silnika, z podziałem na mechaniczne (ciągłe i stykowe) i telemetryczne.
Estimation of temperature distribution of piston, one of the most important parts of the internal combustion engine is of fundamental importance. It can be done in an experimental way. Piston temperature depends on the engine operation conditions and varies significantly. At the stationary conditions, piston temperature reaches 670K on the combustion chamber side and drops down to 390K on the inner side of piston body. Because the measurement of piston temperature is done in limited measurement points, we get only an approximate field of temperature distribution and its gradients. Selection of research equipment and the way of signal transmission are very important to get the right results. The paper describes types of measurement sensors, which can be used to determine the piston temperature in an experimental way: termoelements, thermistors, pyrometers and others. In the second part, transmission of measurement signal outside the engine is shown. There are described mechanical continuous and periodical) and telemetrical methods.

Podstawowymi procesami warunkującymi rozruch silnika o zapłonie samoczynnym są wytworzenie i samozapłon mieszanki paliwowo-powietrznej. Sposobem doprowadzenia energii do uruchamianego silnika i równocześnie czynnikiem wymuszającym procesy rozruchowe jest napędzanie wału korbowego przez układ rozruchowy. W artykule dokonano analizy przebiegu procesu tworzenia i samozapłonu mieszanki podczas rozruchu silnika o ZS w niskiej temperaturze. Scharakteryzowano czynniki powodujące wytworzenie i samozapłon mieszanki paliwowo-powietrznej w kolejnych fazach rozruchu. Przedstawiono wyniki badań wpływu podstawowych parametrów regulacyjnych silnika na charakterystyki rozruchowe. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono parametrom regulacyjnym układu zasilania silnika oraz wpływowi zmian wartości prędkości obrotowej wału korbowego na procesy rozruchu. Przedstawiono interpretacje i modele wyjaśniające przyczyny istniejących zależności.
The basic processes determining the self-ignition engine starting are: creating and autoignition of air-fuel mixture. The way of energy delivering to the started engine and simultaneously the factor extorting starting processes is crankshaft driving by a starting system. In the paper, the analysis of creating and self-ignition processes of air-fuel mixture during self-ignition engine starting at low temperature conditions is made. The factors causing creating and self-ignition of air-fuel mixture in the following starting stages are characterized. There are presented the research results of the basic adjustment parameters on engine starting characteristics. Special attention was devoted to adjustment parameters of the engine supply system and to the influence of crankshaft rotational speed on starting processes. There are presented the interpretations and models explaining the causes of existing dependences.

The article presents a method of piston temperature measurement on a running engine using electromagnetic induction for transferring measurement results from a moving measuring system placed in a piston to a stationary system attached to the engine crankcase and to measuring system located outside the engine. Selected test results that were carried out on a single-cylinder Diesel engine are presented. A system consisting of a thermistor and a secondary coil was mounted in the piston. The primary coil was mounted in the crankcase under the cylinder liner of the engine. Engine tests were aimed at determining the influence of the piston ring insert on the temperature distribution in the piston. Temperature measurements in the piston without the ring insert were carried out for comparison. In both cases, the pistons had the same geometrical dimensions. The tests were carried out in conditions of external characteristics (the maximum load as a function of engine speed) and load characteristics (load changes at constant engine speed). The test results in the form of the temperature difference between the temperature of piston top and the temperature under the top compression ring indicate that the ring insert is a barrier to the heat flow from the piston to the engine cooling system. In addition, the results of the piston temperature measurements during the step change of the engine speed and its load to the nominal value are presented.

The article describes the problem of measuring the temperature in a pulse combustion chamber. The object of the study is a valveless pulsejet. The problem is analysed on the example of exhaust gases temperature measurement. The measurement in these conditions requires the use of a sensor resistant to large changes in gas velocity and temperature and at the same time with adequatly low inertia. This excludes the use of fast and precise yet thin, resistant wire sensors or ultrafast thin film thermocouples. Finally, a temperature measurement system based on sheated thermocouples was chosen. During each test the thermocouple has its own temperature which is different from the medium temperature. In order to properly determine the measured temperature of flowing media it is necessary to take the sensor time characteristics into account. In this article the iteration method is proposed to solve this problem.

In this paper, a comparative study of differential transformation and homotopy perturbation methods for transient combustion analysis of iron micro-particles in a gaseous oxidizing medium is presented. Also, parametric studies are carried out to properly understand the reaction of the process and the associated burning time. Thermal radiation effect from the external surface of burning particle and variation of iron particle density with temperature are considered. The solutions obtained by DTM and HPM are compared with those of the fourth order Runge-Kutta numerical method. Results show that DTM has more accurate results between the two approximate analytical methods considered. Also, results show that by increasing the heat realized parameter, combustion temperature increased and it faster reaches to its constant value. It is envisaged that the present study will create tremendous insight into means of properly managing combustible micro particles exiting factories and production process organization.

In this article the engine piston Renault Premium DXi11 430 460 EEV has been analysed using the Finite Element Method. Analysis consider as well heat transfer phenomenon as the thermal and mechanical strains of the piston. Simulations were performed for the point of engine maximum power. Piston material was assumed to be 40HM (1.7225) steel and its properties are delivered basing on available scientific papers. The simulation assumed mean values of heat transfer coefficient, reference temperature and cycle pressure based on engine data, maximum power engine work simulation in AVL Boost software and literature. Part of boundary condition (e.g. cylinder wall temperature) was assumed basing on authors’ engineering intuition and experience. The resulting temperature distribution in the piston was implemented for geometrically nonlinear mechanical FEM analysis. Both the analysis of thermal stresses and stresses of the hot piston in the top dead centre were performed.

The thermal decomposition and combustion of guanidinium 5,5’-azotetrazole salt (Gu2AzT) have been investigated. Temperature profiles in the Gu2AzT combustion wave were measured using thin tungsten-rhenium micro thermocouples. It was shown that combustion of the salt obeys the condensedphase mechanism. The high burning rate of Gu2AzT is connected with the high decomposition rate in the melt. The kinetic parameters of the controlling chemical reaction have been estimated, and a detailed combustion mechanism for Gu2AzT has been proposed.

According to the current trend to reduce the valvetrain movable masses in combustion engines lightweight valves are used increasingly. They can be made of light alloys from the TiAl alloy group or of ceramic materials such as silicon nitride. They are often coated with additional protective layers to reduce the resistance of friction or the wear intensity. They may also be a hollow structure made of steel with internal reinforcing ribs. Compared to traditional full steel valves they are characterized by different temperature gradients when working in a valvetrain. As a result, their working change, particularly the intensity of the heat transfer and wear. The paper presents valve models developed with the FEM technique for several design and material configurations for lightweight intake and exhaust valves operating under conditions similar to those made of steel. Also the temperature gradients of the discussed valves have been included and compared to those of full steel valves.
Zgodnie z obecną tendencją do zmniejszania mas ruchomych rozrządu w silnikach spalinowych stosowane są lekkie zawory. Mogą być one wykonane z lekkich stopów z grupy TiAl lub z materiałów ceramicznych jak azotek krzemu. Często są powlekane dodatkowymi warstwami ochronnymi dla zmniejszenia oporów tarcia lub intensywności zużycia. Mogą to być też zawory stalowe drążone, z ewentualnym zastosowaniem wewnętrznych żeber wzmacniających. W stosunku do klasycznych pełnych zaworów stalowych odznaczają sie one innym rozkładem temperatury podczas pracy w rozrządach. W efekcie zmieniają się ich warunki pracy, a zwłaszcza intensywność odbioru ciepła i zużywania. W artykule przedstawiono opracowane modele zaworu, wykonane przy użyciu MES, dla kilku konfiguracji konstrukcyjnych i materiałowych lekkich zaworów dolotowych i wylotowych, pracujących w zbliżonych warunkach jak pełne zawory stalowe. Zamieszczono też obliczone rozkłady temperatury i porównano je z przypadkiem pełnych zaworów stalowych.
