Raising resource efficiency is the key task for green transformation of the Ukrainian industry. Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre assists companies in development of options to enhance resource efficiency and environmental performance. However, monitoring shows that companies do not use high potential identified during in-plant assessments. Main barriers at company level are low awareness of the benefits of the resource efficient and cleaner production approach, limited access to financial resources, inadequate human capacities, and absence of incentives from the state.

Opis:
Street cleaning is an integral part of the solid waste management system. There are different ways to achieve clean streets depending on the availability of equipment, the type and magnitude of dirt, the surface conditions encountered or traffic conditions. In general, hand sweeping by an individual worker or a group, hose flushing, or machine sweeping or flushing are applied. In order to obtain information about the occurrence and relevance of occupational health hazards of street cleaners, the current international literature, as well as corresponding German regulations, were reviewed and evaluated. Street cleaning includes a variety of health hazards for employees. These can be subdivided into effects of occupational tasks and effects of working conditions such as weather or road traffic. The hazards result from physical, chemical and biological exposures, but may also be due to physiological and psychological burden or inadequate safety aspects. The most commonly reported work-related complaints are musculoskeletal and respiratory disorders, cuts, slips, and road traffic accidents. In developing countries, street cleaners seem to be still heavily exposed to dust and, in most cases, no suitable protective measures are available. Especially in industrialized countries there exist a number of standards and recommendations for waste workers that aim to reduce their occupational health impacts.

W publikacji przedstawiono jedną z możliwości zwiększenia intensywności procesu separacji w maszynach do zbioru ziemniaków poprzez zastosowanie rolkowego separatora czyszczącego. Rozpatrzono układy sił działające w różnych płaszczyznach na bulwę znajdującą się na rolkach separatora. Określono jego parametry konstrukcyjne i kinematyczne.
The publication presents one of the possibilities allowing to increase separation process intensity in potato harvesting machines by means of implementing a roller-type cleaning separator. Force systems were examined that act in different planes on a tuber lying on separator rollers. Design and kinematic parameters were determined for the unit.

Every year approximately 70 million passenger cars are being produced and automotive industry is much bigger then just passenger cars. The impact of automotive industry on the environment is tremendous. From extracting raw materials through manufacturing and assembly processes, exploitation of the vehicle to the reprocessing irreversible, extensive environmental damage is done. The goal of this study is to show how implementing eco-design processes into supply chain management can reduce the impact of automotive industry on the environment by e.g. reducing the use of the fuel, increasing the use of recycled materials. Focus is on evaluation of current state, environmental impacts and potential improvements for design, raw materials, manufacturing and distribution and end-of-life phase.

The article outlines the operating concept of the recommended multifaceted gridirons on an elastic bearing support, analyses the excursion of the gridiron, justifies the characteristics and gives the results of comparative production tests. As well as the effective scheme and principle of work of cotton cleaner from large impurities are presented based on the research of fluctuations in the parameters of a grid-iron on an elastic support system. The obtained results of the recommended cotton cleaner were provided. Experiment results showed that the cleaning purificatory effect increases on average by up to 8.11% in comparison with the existing option of a fire grate; mechanical damage to seeds decreases by up to 1.09%, and free fibre in the seed-cotton decreases two times, to 0.113%. With an increase in the resistance of cotton from 19.7 Н up to 60 Н (average value), the movement of the gridiron increases from 0.65·10-3 m up to 3.2·10-3 m. This is due to the fact that in the interaction of raw cotton with vibroisolating conical grates, cotton-yarn is additionally shaken, increasing their direction of movement due to the taper rate of the gridirons, which leads to an increase in the cleaning effect.
W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję działania rusztów wielopłaszczyznowych na elastycznej podporze łożyskowej, analizowano wychylenie rusztu, omówiono ich właściwości i przedstawiono wyniki porównawczych testów produkcyjnych. Jak również udowodniono skuteczny schemat i zasadę działania środka do czyszczenia bawełny z dużych zanieczyszczeń. Wyniki eksperymentu wykazały, że efekt oczyszczania wzrósł średnio o 8,11% w porównaniu z opcją rusztu ogniowego. Uszkodzenia mechaniczne nasion zmniejszyły się nawet o 1,09%, a ilość wolnego włókna w bawełnie nasiennej zmniejszyła się dwukrotnie, do 0,113%. Wraz ze wzrostem wytrzymałości bawełny od 19,7 do 60 Н (wartość średnia) ruch rusztu wzrastał od 0,65×10-3 do 3,2×10-3 m. Wynika to z faktu, że w interakcji surowej bawełny z wibroizolacyjnymi kratkami stożkowymi, przędza bawełniana jest dodatkowo wytrząsana, zwiększając kierunek ich ruchu ze względu na stopień zwężania się rusztów, co prowadzi do zwiększenia efektu czyszczenia.

Zasada zrównoważonego rozwoju jest jedną z podstawowych zasad zapisanych w Konstytucji Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej. Przez zrównoważony rozwój rozumie się kompleksowe działania powodujące wzrost gospodarczy, przy jednoczesnym uwzględnieniu wymagań z zakresu ochrony środowiska. Istnieje wiele niesformalizowanych (np. Czystsza Produkcja), jak i sformalizowanych (ISO 14001, EMAS) systemów zarządzania środowiskowego, które służą do realizacji zasady zrównoważonego rozwoju. Wdrażanie systemów zarządzania środowiskowego w pojedynczych organizacjach stanowi bardzo ważny krok na drodze do zachowania lub poprawy stanu środowiska. Jednak dopiero wdrożenie zarządzania środowiskowego w skali regionalnej pozwala na pełne wykorzystanie atutów systemowego podejścia do zagadnień ochrony środowiska. W artykule przedstawiono, opracowany w Krajowym Centrum Wdrożeń Czystszej Produkcji GIG, model regionalnego systemu zarządzania środowiskowego. Podstawę modelu systemu stanowią dwie sprzężone ze sobą procedury operacyjne. Procedury opracowano wykorzystując podstawowe zasady Czystszej Produkcji oraz wymagania i zalecenia wybranych norm ISO, dotyczących zarządzania środowiskowego (ISO 14001, ISO 14031). Na podstawie opracowanego modelu, w ramach działalności statutowej GIG, wdrożono regionalny systemu zarządzania środowiskowego w powiecie oraz miastach i gminach powiatu tarnogórskiego w województwie śląskim. Proces wdrażania systemu obejmował serię interaktywnych modułów szkoleniowych, w których brali udział przedstawiciele powiatu oraz miast i gmin wchodzących w skład powiatu tarnogórskiego. Pomiędzy kolejnymi modułami szkoleniowymi, przedstawiciele powiatu oraz miast i gmin opracowywali sukcesywnie dokumenty systemu zarządzania środowiskowego. Opracowano, miedzy innymi, takie elementy systemu, jak: wstępny przegląd środowiskowy, rejestr aspektów środowiskowych, polityka środowiskowa, zestawienie wskaźników środowiskowych, rejestr celów i zadań środowiskowych oraz program zarządzania środowiskowego. Funkcjonowanie regionalnego systemu zarządzania środowiskowego, zainicjowanego w powiecie tarnogórskim wiąże się z realizacją konkretnych zadań, ujętych w programie zarządzania środowiskowego. Efekty działalności środowiskowej w powiecie oraz miastach i gminach powiatu tarnogórskiego będą monitorowane przez Krajowe Centrum Wdrożeń Czystszej Produkcji GIG po roku, od chwili wdrożenia regionalnego sytemu zarządzania środowiskowego.
The principle of sustainable development is one of the basic notions mentioned in the Polish Constitution. The sustainable development stands for implementation of complex of procedures stimulating economic growth without compromising environmental safety requirements. There are formalized environmental management systems (ISO 14001, EMAS) as well as many not that formalized such as Cleaner Production. Implementation of environmental management systems in separate organizations constitutes an important step towards improvement of environmental safety. However, the benefits of the system approach to environmental issues can be achieved in full only when an environmental management system is applied in a regional scale. In this paper the regional model of environmental management system is presented, elaborated in the National Center for Implementation of Cleaner Production. The basis of the system is formed by two coupled operational procedures. These procedures were elaborated basing on key rules of Cleaner Production as well as on requirements and recommendations of some chosen ISO standards concerning environmental management (ISO 1401, 1431). On the basis of that model an environmental management system was implemented in cities and communes of the Tarnowskie Góry region in the Silesia voivodeship. The implementation process involved a series of interactive training modules carried out for the representatives of the region, its cities and communes. The documents of the regional system were prepared by the participants after each training module. Among others the following elements of the system were elaborated: initial environmental survey, environmental aspects register, environmental policy, set of environmental indications, roster of environmental aims and tasks and environmental management program. The regional environmental management system initiated in the Tarnowskie Góry region is being realized as a series of concrete tasks set out in the environmental management program. Twelve months after the full implementation of the system the results of environmental activity in the region and its communes will be checked by the National Center for Implementation of Cleaner Production.

Research background: The heterogeneity in the factors that affect demand for environmental quality implicates a diverse set of policies and actions aimed at achieving cleaner production to address the challenges posed by pollution and damage to the natural environment. Even though this topic has been widely addressed, mainly from the traditional perspective of the Environmental Kuznets Curves hypothesis (EKC), it has been assumed that the environment is a luxury good with an income elasticity greater than unity. However, it has recently been recognized that the relationship between income and demand for cleaner energy may be more complex and that further inquiry may be needed for a better understanding. Purpose of the article: This research work, employing a panel of European countries, offers direct explicit parameters for the elasticity of income-environmental quality demand for Greenhouse Gases (GHG), as well as its relationship with other important factors. It provides quantitative novel insights into the complex relationship between income and the preferences for cleaner energy. Methods: A hierarchical regression equations approach is used to analyze the evolution of the elasticity of income-environmental quality demand with the inclusion of further co-variates that are relevant for the preferences side of the EKC, such as consumption, R+D investment and BERD (Business Enterprise Research and Development). The data for the empirical study comes from a panel of 16 European countries for the period from 2010 to 2020. Findings & value added: The results show robust evidence that the elasticity of environmental quality demand, which although positive and significant, does not exceed one. To obtain an elasticity above unity, two more variables are needed, namely the R+D expenditure of business enterprises and the exposure of citizens to air pollution. These two factors have a similar or even higher effect on the preferences of agents for cleaner energy, which also means that the preferences of the citizens are endogenous to technological development. At the theoretical level, this work shows that the technological and preferences arguments are not substitute explanations of the EKC, but that technological development exerts a positive effect on the preferences of inhabitants, whose demand for environmental quality is heavily conditioned by their capabilities to see pollution, even more than by their income level. This also means that public policies directed to improve environmental awareness should be directed first towards those regions where the exposure of the citizens to pollution is lower.

Vacuum cleaners can be found in almost every household. They are one of the most intense noise sources there. Noise generated by vacuum cleaners is partially of mechanical, electrical and aerodynamic origin. A suction unit is the source of mechanical and electromagnetic noise. A suction nozzle or a cleaning head as well as a flexible hose that connects the components are sources of aerodynamic noise. The noise of the suction unit depends on the load and the technical condition of the motor. The noise of the nozzle and the hose depend on the flow capacity, presence of solid particles and the type of cleaned surface. The article presents a comparison of acoustic parameters of a vacuum cleaner working on various surfaces. In addition, the noise generated by the vacuum cleaner was compared according to the standard noise testing procedure and according to the definition of devices with extensive sound sources.

Czystsza Produkcja to rodzaj przyjaznej dla środowiska strategii zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem. Skierowana jest ona nie tylko do przedsiębiorców, ale także do jednostek samorządu terytorialnego. Jej zastosowanie ułatwia zarządzanie organizacją ukierunkowaną na zrównoważony rozwój. Organizacje decydujące się na dobrowolne wdrożenie strategii CP nieustannie dążą do zmniejszenia zanieczyszczenia, zmniejszenia zużycia energii i kosztów związanych z opłatami środowiskowymi, poprzez opracowywanie i wdrażanie tzw. Projektów Czystszej Produkcji. Jednym z głównych aspektów „Czystszej Produkcji” jest zmniejszenie obciążenia środowiska i tzw. „dodatkowego efektu ekonomicznego”. Oznacza to, że projekty związane z koncepcją CP przynoszą korzyści zarówno środowisku, jak i organizacji. Strategia Czystszej Produkcji, która stała się podstawą systemu zarządzania środowiskowego, pozwala jednostkom organizacyjnym różnych organizacji podejmować dobrowolne zobowiązania środowiskowe nastawione na dobro środowiska. Istotną cechą Systemu Zarządzania Ekologicznego wg Czystszej Produkcji jest wykorzystanie istniejących baz danych dotyczących wpływu na środowisko oraz wymaganych prawem uwalniania do środowiska. To znacznie ułatwia każdej organizacji podejmowanie dobrowolnych decyzji o wdrożeniu takiego systemu. Celem niniejszej pracy jest charakterystyka strategii Czystszej Produkcji i próba oceny jej roli w procesie realizacji idei zrównoważonego rozwoju, na przykładzie firmy produkcyjnej. Korzyści wynikające ze strategii w postaci wymiernego efektu ekonomicznego, zmniejszonego zużycia energii elektrycznej, ciepła i wody są oczywiste. Cleaner Production is a kind of environmentally friendly enterprise management strategy. It is addressed not only to entrepreneurs but also to local government units. Its application facilitates the management of an organization focusedon sustainable development. Organizations that decide to voluntarily implement the CP strategy constantly strive to reduce pollution, energy consumption and costs related to environmental fees, through the development and implementation of so-called Cleaner Production Projects. One of the main aspects of “Cleaner Production” is the reduction of the environmental burden and the so-called “additional economic effect”. This means that projects related to the CP concept benefit both the environment and the organization. The Cleaner Production strategy, which has become the basis of the environmental management system, allows organizational units of various organizations to make voluntary environmental commitments focused on the good of the environment. An important feature of the Cleaner Production Environmental Management System is the use of existing databases of environmental impacts and legally required releases to the environment. This makes it much easier for each organization to make voluntary decisions about implementing such a system. The aim of this work was to show what the Cleaner Production strategy consists in and its role in pursuing the idea of sustainable development, on the example of a manufacturing company. Benefits resulting from the strategy in the form of a measurable economic effect, reduced consumption of electricity, heat and water are obvious. In addition, there was a decrease in pollution through the emission of gases, dust and waste products.

Opis:
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is becoming increasingly often an essential element of a strategy of modern enterprises. CSR activities include a wide range of relationships with stakeholders, that is entities who are associated with the activity of an organization or are under its influence. The natural environment is one of most important stakeholders. The CSR strategy implements the postulate of the pursuit of sustainable development, that is, the development where the economic issues are treated equally to social and environmental issues. Over the years there were taken many initiatives which were aimed at the promotion of this idea. The article discusses the selected initiatives, paying a particular attention to the elements concerning the natural environment.

Niniejszy artykuł stanowi raport z badania obiektu użytku codziennego – inteligentnego automatycznego odkurzacza. Badanie miało charakter jakościowy i przeprowadzone zostało metodą wywiadu pogłębionego przeprowadzonego na posiadaczach automatycznego odkurzacza, a także metodą obserwacji niejawnej przeprowadzonej na jednym z respondentów oraz na dziedzinach bawiących się z urządzeniem. Celem projektu było zbadanie, czym dla użytkownika jest automatyczny odkurzacz, w jakie wyposażany jest znaczenia, jakie role pełni w jego życiu, a przez to odkrycie, w jaki sposób urządzenie na różnych poziomach działa. W konsekwencji wskazano na jego performatywny potencjał do oddziaływania na użytkowników, na sprawczość, która wykracza poza przeznaczoną mu – czysto praktyczną – funkcję.
The paper is a report on the study of an object of everyday use: the smart vacuum cleaner. The research was a qualitative study carried out using the method of in-depth interviews conducted with owners of automatic vacuum cleaners, coupled with the method of disguised observation carried out on one of the respondents and children playing with the device. The aim of this project was to understand what an automatic vacuum cleaner is to its user, what role it plays in their life, what functions it performs, and to reveal how it works on different levels. This resulted in indication of the performative potential of the studied object, as well as the agency hidden within it, going beyond its intended practical function.

Zagadnienie systemowego podejścia do zarządzania środowiskowego w organizacjach w ostatnich latach cieszy się bardzo dużym zainteresowaniem. Wynika ono z coraz większej uwagi przedsiębiorców skierowanej na sprawność systemu oceny efektów działalności środowiskowej oraz działania mające na celu zapobieganie zanieczyszczeniom. Dlatego w artykule omówiono podstawowe założenia systemu zarządzania środowiskowego zgodnego z wymaganiami normy ISO 14001 oraz innych znanych systemów i programów środowiskowych. W efekcie w artykule starano się wykazać jaki jest wpływ posiadania przez organizacje innych systemów lub programów dotyczących zarządzania środowiskowego na doskonalenie systemu zarządzania środowiskowego zgodnego z wymaganiami normy ISO 14001.
In recent years problem of environmental management system is arousing interest in organizations. It is result from more and more managers interest of efficient environmental performance evaluation and prevention of pollution. Therefore this article discussed basic environmental management system requirements according to ISO 14001. The paper tries to determine the impact of environmental systems or programs on improvement of environmental management system according to ISO 14001.
