Opis:
Janusz Korczak engaged children in writing novels intended for them. His writing experiments consisted in directly transferring children’s ideas to the paper, correcting and reworking the stories under the influence of the listeners’ comments, removing and cutting fragments of the text at their request. Following Korczak’s method, a reconstruction of understanding by modern children of created 85 years ago novel “Kajtuś Czarodziej” was made. Based on focus interviews, it was established that the fairytale context of reading is read by children on a multithreaded basis, filtered by reference to the present day, critically evaluated by older children. The linguistic layer is acceptable, while the transfer of the fairytale aspect to real life does not suit the contemporary young recipients. The children’s suggestions regarding the new plots of reading were mainly of mimetic character in relation to the original.

Opis:
The text outlines fragments of Georgian Romani and Dom children’s reality through the prism of their everyday life and educational practices. Romani (or Roma) and Dom children are usually perceived by the majority of society as well as by national and ethnic minorities as an identical, uniform group. Their images are burdened with stereotypes and they themselves – as begging participants in public space – have become inconvenient for the majority of the society, hence excluded and marginalized. With regard to social representations, Roma and Dom children can be included in the category of “street children”, children “out of place”, “invisible” children, and children remaining “at the crossroads” of tradition and postmodernity. A portrayal of the situation of Roma and Dom minorities in Georgia reveals the reality of children in big city environments as well as the dimensions of their social exclusion and poverty. The text was written within field research: “The forgotten minorities in Georgia” conducted by the author in 2013 and 2014 in Georgia, South Caucasus.

Opis:
The article presents one of the most avant-garde educational experiences for young children in the world. The first preschools in Reggio Emilia (Italy) were established after the Second World War and they have been under the supervision of the municipality for over 45 years. The main initiator and educator of this early childhood practice was Loris Malaguzzi (1920–1994). One of the reasons for this long-lasting project is the readiness of Reggio Emilia educators to cross boundaries, and another is their openness to new ideas and perspectives. They take their inspiration not only from pedagogy, but from philosophy, the exact sciences, architecture, literature, and visual communication as well. Inspired by different ideas and theories, being reflective and inquiring, they interpret and construct their own concepts and theories instead of reproducing them.

Are young children respected and cared for or overlooked by the practitioner or researcher’s personal goals in research? Are issues, related to ethics in relation to children’s consent and participation in research lost in translation especially in terms of expectations and interpretation in different cultural contexts. This paper explores the diverse perspectives of issues around ethics related to research with young children in early years settings.. It questions the perceived tensions around adults’ decisions about children’s participation in research. The issues related to children’s voice, gatekeepers of consent, participation, power and children’s rights will be discussed and the extent to which they influence the decisions which adults make about children’s participation in any research.

Opis:
Introduction: The preschool age is reasonably considered as the most significant period in the process of a child's body formation. It is at this particular age that the foundation is laid for personal health and physical qualities necessary for efficient participation in various spheres of social life in the future. The aim of this study is to get a knowledge about the dynamics and level of physical fitness in three- to sixyear-old children. Material and methods: The study was carried out on the basis of pre-school institutions of Lviv and Lviv region in 2017. Altogether 1188 preschool children (n=1188) were involved in the research, including 418 children of junior preschool age (3 to 4 years old), 350 middleaged preschoolers (4 to 5 years old) and 420 senior preschoolers (5 to 6 years old). Methods of research applied were as follows: analysis and systematization of scientific publications, educational experiment, educational testing, educational observations, Student's t-test, parametric statistics methods. Results: It has been found that with age the examined sample of children displays gradual improvement of all physical fitness characteristics. The findings testify to intensive and heterochronic development of children's motor qualities in the process of their ontogenesis. Conclusion: General physical fitness level of the majority of the examined children could be estimated as satisfactory and corresponding to the appropriate age standards. Our findings supplement the data on application of the available informative tests for preschooler's physical fitness assessment.

Word formation is significant for the linguistic and cognitive development of the child and it is possible to get and interpret data concerning decoding and encoding word-formative structures by children with intellectual disability through linguistic analysis. This task is so much important because Polish literature lacks studies concerning word formation competence of children with intellectual disability. The article shows the need for research and their description as well as the evaluation of understanding and forming word-formative structures by children with intellectual disability in comparison with analogical abilities of children without such a disability.

SGH Warsaw School of Economics was the first location of the Children's University of Economics established by the Foundation for the Promotion and Accreditation of Academic Education (FPAKE) in 2008. At present, it coordinates the activity of CUE (pl. EUD) in seven academic centers around Poland as well as the operation of the Academy of Young Economist in its six locations. SGH is also the place of annual meetings of the Association of Children's Universities in Poland and the Congress of Children's Universities. Such an active involvement established a natural background for the research project on the extra-curricular children education in general and the activity of children's universities in particular.
