The article describes peculiar features of aesthetics and poetics of “sadistic verses” in the creative work of modern Austrian poet E. Yandle, Russian author A. Grygoriev and Belarusian masters of artistic word V. Zhybul and V. Burlak. Using the means of grotesque, carnivalization, illogic and black humour the authors show their protest against an excessive normativity and nihilistic pathos to modern reality with its standards, and create a peculiar lyrical hero – a weirdo, an eccentric person who falls into the chain of catastrophes, crashes and accidents.

This study is devoted to the discourse specificity of socio-communicative register switching as a parameter of linguistic creativity. A contrastive analysis of cinematic discourse and discourse of children’s literature helped to define the characteristics of register and the criteria of socio-communicative dissonance, which served to distinguish between creative and non-creative use of register switching. The study identifies three creative techniques of register switching, demonstrating socio-communicative dissonance (as intentional pragmatic distortion) in social roles, communicative situations and socio-communicative discourse format. The results indicate the parametric variance of activity in the discourse types under consideration, with higher values of both creative and non-creative techniques in the discourse of children’s literature, and higher relative values of creative vs non-creative use of socio-communicative register switching in cinematic discourse. The results also demonstrate the efficiency of the parametric method in the study of linguistic creativity.
Przedmiotem artykułu jest dyskursowa specyfika przełączania rejestrów socjokomunikatywnych w roli parametru kreatywności lingwistycznej. Konfrontatywna analiza dyskursu uwzględniająca dyskurs kinowy i dyskurs literatury dziecięcej pomogła określić charakterystykę rejestrów oraz kryteria dysonansu socjokomunikatywnego, co posłużyło do wskazania różnic pomiędzy kreatywnym a niekreatywnym użyciem przełączania rejestrów. Stwierdzono istnienie trzech kreatywnych technik przełączania rejestrów, wprowadzających dysonans socjokomunikatywny (będący celowym zniekształceniem pragmatycznym) w zakresie ról społecznych, sytuacji komunikacyjnych i formatu dyskursu socjokomunikatywnego. Rezultaty pokazują zmienność aktywności parametrowej konfrontowanych typów dyskursu, z wyższymi wartościami zarówno kreatywnych, jak i niekreatywnych technik w dyskursie literatury dziecięcej, a zarazem wyższymi relatywnymi wartościami wykorzystania przełączania kreatywnych rejestrów socjokomunikatywnych w dyskursie kinowym. Jednocześnie rezultaty dowodzą skuteczności metody parametrycznej w badaniach nad kreatywnością lingwistyczną.

This article investigates the time loop motif in Dejan Aleksić’s novel, A Shoe at the End of the World. Following a brief overview of the most important uses of the time motif in children’s literature, and positioning this paper within Nikolajeva’s (i.e. Eliade’s) dichotomy of linear and cyclical time, we analyse the time loop motif in Aleksić’s short children’s novel. Unlike e.g. science fiction authors, Aleksić does not use the time loop as a plot point but rather as an important factor creating a sense of wonder in his text. He also uses it as a narrative starting point for a string of comical paradoxes that posit a simultaneity of past and future events, which sets the overall tone of the novel. The time loop also establishes effectively the displacement of Aleksić’s imaginary world, removing it from the linear time sequence, characteristic for adults, and yet setting it apart from the idyllic eternity of childhood, envisioned by older authors. Simultaneously, the time loop serves as a link to the metafictional characteristics of other Aleksić’s texts.

This short study embraces both the first sprouts of the written Macedonian literature for children (somewhere around the second part of the 19th century), and the literary production which happens after the establishment of the contemporary Macedonian language, that is, after the 1945. Still, the main accent is on two newer books: Verses also Grow (И строфите растат) by Alexandar Kujundziski and Jump and Skip (Скокни прескокни) by Vasil Mukaetov which is a part of the refreshed reading list as an optional book for the Macedonian language lessons in the primary schools in Macedonia. Both authors put an emphasis exactly on a child’s sensitivity and such issues as character growth and maturation. In their books, they transfer the reader from childhood to adulthood unnoticeably and lightly. Their message is to help the little human in the complex process of his or her own comprehension and to show him or her that he or she are not alone in this process.

Артыкул прысвечаны вызначэнню ролі Яна Чачота ў дзіцячай літаратуры ХІХ стагоддзя. Асноўная ўвага была звернута на амаль недаследаваны зборнік Аповесці для маладых дзяўчат, які складаецца з чатырох твораў: Свянтохна, або Удзячнасць, Богна і Любаміра, або Пыха і Сціпласць, Людгарда, або Карыснае падарожжа, Даброхна, або Дабрачыннасць заўсёды памятная. Іх галоўныя гераіні – разумныя, прыгожыя, працавітыя, адукаваныя дзяўчаты, якія з’яўляюцца сапраўдным узорам набожнасці, дабрачыннасці і цноты. Асноўная тэма твораў – свет дзявочых перажыванняў і інтарэсаў, звязаных з праблемай вызначэння месца і ролі ў сям’і і грамадстве. Я. Чачот выкарыстоўваў досвед сваіх папярэднікаў, запазычаючы ў іх сюжэтныя калізіі і некаторыя ідэі. У адрозненне ад папярэдніх эпох, дзе роля жанчыны (асабліва з ніжэйшых слаёў) абмяжоўвалася сямейнымі абавязкамі і нізкакваліфікаванай працай, а жаночая адукацыя лічылася непатрэбнай і нават шкоднай, Я. Чачот падкрэслівае, што дзяўчаты могуць не толькі служыць сям’і, але і прыносіць карысць грамадству.
This article is an attempt to determine Jan Chachot’s role in 19th century children’s literature. Our main focus is placed on his almost unknown collection Novels for young girls, that consists of four novels: Sventochna, or Gratitude, Bogna and Lubomyra, or Arrogance and Modesty, Ludgarda, or the Useful travel, Dobrochna, or Charity always memorable. Their main characters are clever, beautiful, industrious, well-educated girls, who are veritable models of piety, charity and chastity. The basic theme of novels is the girl girls’world, related to their role in the family and society. Jan Chachot used the experience of his predecessors, adopting some of their ideas. As opposed to previous epochs, where the role of women was limited to their domestic duties and unqualified work, and female education was considered unnecessary and even harmful, Jan Chachot emphasizes that they can not only serve their family, but also be useful to society.
Artykuł poświęcony jest określeniu roli Jana Czeczota w literaturze dla dzieci XIX wieku. Główna uwaga zostaje skierowana na niezbadane dzieło Powiastki dla młodych dziewcząt naśladowane z dzieła Pani de Sęt (De Saintes, Delassemens de ma fille, 2 volumes ), które obejmuje cztery utwory: Świętochna albo Wdzięczność, Bogna i Lubomira albo Duma i Skromność”, Luidgarda albo Podróż pożyteczna, Dobrochna albo Dobrodziejstwo zawsze pamiętnie. Ich bohaterki to inteligentne, piękne, pracowite, wykształcone dziewczyny, które są prawdziwymi wzorcami pobożności, miłości i czystości. Tematem przewodnim dzieła są doświadczenia i zainteresowania dziewcząt, związane z kwestią określania miejsca i roli w rodzinie i społeczeństwie. Jan Czeczot wykorzystał doświadczenia swoich poprzedników, zapożyczając od nich konflikty fabularne i pewne idee. W przeciwieństwie do poprzednich epok, w których rola kobiety była ograniczona obowiązkami rodzinnymi i pracą nisko wykwalifikowaną, a wykształcenie kobiet uważano za zbędne, a nawet szkodliwe, Jan Czeczot podkreśla, że kobiety mogą służyć nie tylko rodzinie, ale także przynosić pożytek społeczeństwu.

Artykuł dotyczy pisarstwa Zuzanny Orlińskiej, która tworzy przepełnione humorem, dobrocią i serdecznością książki dla dzieci i młodzieży. Analizie poddane zostały wszystkie tytuły autorki: Matka Polka, Pisklak, Cierpienia sięciolatka, Ani słowa o Zosi, Stary Noe i Detektywi z klasztornego zamku. Bohaterowie literaccy w jej powieściach znajdują się w różnych sytuacjach, toczą walkę wewnętrzną, rozwiązują zagadki detektywistyczne, poznają prawdy życiowe, system wartości i obowiązujące normy postępowania. Z. Orlińska jawi się jako pisarka, dla której ważne są sprawy młodych ludzi. Kraina dzieciństwa ukazana w jej powieściach dla dzieci i młodzieży jest krainą bliską każdemu czytelnikowi, bez względu na jego wiek czy czasy, w których dorastał.
The article refers to the works by Zuzanna Orlińska, the creator of works for children and young people which are full of humour, goodness and warmth. All editions of the author’s works were subject to an analysis: Matka Polka, Pisklak, Cierpienia sięciolatka, Ani słowa o Zosi, Stary Noe, as well as Detektywi z klasztornego zamku. The literary protagonists in Orlińska’s novels find themselves in various situations, they go through an internal struggle, they solve detective mysteries, they learn the truths about life, they familiarise themselves with the system of values and the norms of conduct which are valid. The author of these works makes an interesting choice of words which she applies to a situation in which the small protagonists find a platform for understanding. Orlińska appears as a writer for whom the concerns of young people are relevant. The childhood realms which are presented by the author of Pisklak in her novels for children and young people are realms to which each reader can relate, regardless of his or her age or the time in which he or she grew up.

Die Nutzung des Internets und seiner Dienste, u.a. der E-Mail, sozialer Medien, Kommunikationsplattformen und Online-Spiele, wurde zur expliziten Erscheinung der heutigen Welt. Die neuen Medien bieten nämlich den jungen Benutzern eine der attraktivsten Formen der Freizeitgestaltung, weswegen sie immer mehr als Thema und Motiv in der gegenwärtigen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur erscheinen. Diesem Phänomen ist der vorliegende Beitrag gewidmet, dessen Ziel es ist, an exemplarisch ausgewählten Texten den Einfluss des Internets auf die Problematik und Form, Wirklichkeitsdarstellung und Figurenzeichnung in der heutigen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur zu untersuchen. Besonders wichtig erscheint die Frage, wie sich das Wechselspiel zwischen realer und virtueller Realität auf die literarische Fiktion und Konstruktion der Werke auswirkt.
Using the services provided by the Internet such as e-mail, social media, instant messengers or online games became unavoidable and irreversible phenomenon of the modern world. These media are one of the most attractive types of entertainment and spending free time. This is the main reason why media appears more often as the theme in the modern children’s and adolescent literature. Main goal of this paper is to point out how the Internet impacts on issues, plot line and creation of the represented world and characters in the children’s and adolescent literature. The very important question is – how the interpenetrate of the real and virtual world influences on literary fiction and composition.
Korzystanie z Internetu i jego usług, takich jak np. poczta elektroniczna, media społecznościowe, komunikatory i gry online, stało się nieuniknionym i nieodwracalnym zjawiskiem współczesnego świata. Media te stanowią bowiem jedną z najatrakcyjniejszych form rozrywki oraz spędzania wolnego czasu przez ich młodych użytkowników, dlatego pojawiają sie coraz częściej jako temat i motyw we współczesnej literaturze dla dzieci i młodzieży. Temu fenomenowi poświęcony jest niniejszy artykuł, którego celem jest wykazanie na podstawie wybranych utworów wpływu Internetu na problematykę, fabułę oraz na kreację świata przedstawionego i bohaterów w literaturze dla dzieci i młodzieży. Istotne wydaje się pytanie, w jaki sposób przenikanie się świata realnego i wirtualnego wpływa na fikcję literacką i konstrukcję utworów.

The aim in this article is to present the life and work of Zofia Ernst (1918–1994), an ardent connoisseur of Italian culture and literature and an accomplished translator of Italian books for adults and children. Drawing on D’hulst’s historiographic model (2001, 2010) and Kaczmarek’s topobiographical approach (2013), I address key moments in Ernst’s life. The focus on the life story of this one translator helps me outline the milieu in which she lived and worked as well as show her impact on how the representations of Italian literature took shape in Poland before 1994. I also explore translations of Italian literature for children and young adults that Zofia Ernst produced for the Polish publisher Nasza Księgarnia during the period of 1954–1974, as they still form an under-examined field.
L’obiettivo dell’articolo è quello di presentare la figura di Zofia Ernst (1918–1994), amante della cultura e della letteratura della Penisola Appenninica, e nota traduttrice della letteratura italiana per adulti e per ragazzi. Avvalendomi del modello storiografico di D’hulst (2001, 2010) e dell’approccio topobiografico di Kaczmarek (2013), analizzo i momenti chiave della biografia di Zofia Ernst. Uno studio attento della vita di una traduttrice ha permesso di descrivere l’ambiente in cui visse e lavorò, come pure di delineare il suo impatto sull’immagine della letteratura italiana in Polonia entro il 1994. Infine, mi sono concentrata sulle traduzioni della letteratura italiana per l’infanzia e l’adolescenza, preparate da Zofia Ernst negli anni 1954–1974 per la casa editrice Nasza Księgarnia, finora non studiate in maniera approfondita.

Autor w artykule analizuje istotną relację między współczesną literaturą dla dzieci i młodzieży a aksjologią w kontekście koncepcji aury Waltera Benjamina. Rozległy obszar literatury „czwartej” obejmuje wiele różnorodnych pod względem artystycznym i prezentowanego w niej systemu wartości tekstów. Mimo że wiele z nich ma formę utworu popularnego, służącego rozrywce, to jednak na polskim rynku książki dziecięcej znaleźć można wiele wartościowych, artystycznie dopracowanych tekstów. Tradycyjne działania krytyka literackiego i badacza literatury nie są dziś wystarczające, aby właściwie opisać rozległy obszar związków między tekstem a aksjologią. Autor artykułu proponuje, by uwzględnić trzy elementy, które współtworzą aurę (wartości) utworu adresowanego do młodego czytelnika: blogokrytykę, dominantę dyskursu publicznego oraz protoautora (dziecięcego pisarza).  
The author analyzes the essential relationship between contemporary literature for children and youth and axiology in the context of Walter Benjamin’s concept of aura. Dimension of the children’s literature includes a numerous works which present a different system of values, e.g. from conservative to the liberal. However, a huge part of such works have a feature of a typical popular text but still a reader can find an artistic, valuable works for children on the Polish book market. Therefore a suitable support for the process of management between children’s literature and the system of value is the most important issue. Thus, a traditional work of reviewers and researchers is not enough today to find a suitable path to exam a numerous work of the children’s literature in axiological context. Therefore the author argues that we should describe the connection between the contemporary children’s literature and axiology by the three phenomena: blog-critique, dominance of a public discourse and a children’s writer.

The article aims at presenting children’s and youth books published in 2013, 2014 and 2015 by the publishing house called ‘Poławiacze Pereł’. The author analyses the content of three short stories: The Zebra by Ifi Ude, Bahar Means Spring by Agnieszka Aysen Kaim and Tales Under the Olive Tree by Aida Amer. The article author presents her considerations on multiculturalism as a subject of Polish education. The students’ comprehension of ‘otherness’ may enable them to respect and accept the differences in race, appearance, religion, behaviour, culture, clothing and preferences.

This article falls into the trend of restoring the memory of the so-called creators of minorum gentium, that is, „smaller format”. It contains basic biographical information which was obtained through the inquiry, concerning the forgotten Lviv writer Bolesław Eulenfeld, as well as a literary sketch of his work, along with its reception at the time (and contemporary). During his lifetime, Eulenfeld was an extremely prolific and popular playwright in Galicia, children’s literature writer, and even an actor for several years. Today he is mentioned rarely, hardly ever, so we decided to bring his profile closer and restore the memory of him.

Celem artykułu jest prześledzenie tematów podejmowanych w polskiej literaturze dziecięcej XXI wieku mówiącej o Zagładzie i wskazanie dominujących tendencji w przedstawianiu Szoa czytelnikom. W pierwszej części zarysowano kontekst powstania utworów o tej tematyce, w drugiej zanalizowano wybrane problemy podejmowane i pomijane w tych utworach (kultura i religia żydowska, stosunki polsko-żydowskie i śmierć bohaterów), co doprowadziło do wniosków dotyczących ideologicznego podłoża literatury skierowanej do młodych odbiorców.
This article aims at identifying and reviewing themes within Polish 21st-century children’s literature related to the Holocaust in order to enumerate the dominant trends in the presentation of the Shoah. The first part of the article outlines the emergence of the works of children’s literature under consideration, while the second part analyzes the following topics, not only in terms of the inclusion in these works, but also, in certain cases, their omission: Jewish culture and religion, Polish-Jewish relations, and the circumstances surrounding characters’ deaths. The analysis culminates in a series of conclusions regarding, and a discussion concerning, the ideological background of literature for young readers during the 21st century.

Artykuł przedstawia istotę i rolę zabawki jako kulturowego artefaktu, (w tym lalki i pluszowego misia) widzianego oczami najmłodszych świadków historii Holokaustu. Zagadnienie to zostanie naświetlone z perspektywy historycznej oraz z punktu widzenia rozwoju emocjonalnego dziecka i będzie się odwoływać do przykładów niemieckiej literatury dziecięcej. Korpus tekstów ma za zadanie ukazać jak prosta zabawka staje się równorzędnym bohaterem, trwałą istotą fabuły, osobnym wątkiem wyłuskanym z zakamarków pamięci i ingredientem historycznoliterackim.
The paper focuses on the essence and the role, which toys such as a doll or a teddy bear play as cultural artifacts in German children’s literature. The toys I will be describing play an important role in texts about children, who witnessed Holocaust. I will investigate this issue from a historical perspective and from a point of view of emotional development of a child. I intend to show that toys, brought from memories of the past, become as important for the story as child protagonists, build an integral art of the story throughout the narrative, and symbolize a particular historical event in the literary context.
