Opis:
The researcher describes her experience of participating in the 22nd Biennale of Art for Children. Discussions conducted as part of the meetings of the Observatory, a group created to observe and talk about events as an integral part of the project, show the polyphony of opinions about who is a child and what art is for a child. As Schütz points out, subjective meaning is an inherent attribute of human activities. People experience phenomena on the basis of their previous experiences. According to the premises of phenomenology, the discussions of people from different socio-biographical locations will provide a variety of visions. The author describes how the experience of people who are involved with art for children but who differ in their social and professional roles influences the planning of events for children.

Artykuł poświęcony jest koncepcjom estetycznym polskiego filozofa i teoretyka pedagogiki, Stefana Szumana (1898–1972). Jego zainteresowanie twórczością dziecka i sztuką ludową wpisuje się w szeroki w kulturze europejskiej początków XX w. zwrot ku „prymitywowi”, będący pochodną tyleż krytycznej oceny procesów modernizacyjnych i regeneracyjnych tęsknot, co ówczesnych badań antropologicznych nad strukturą społeczeństw pierwotnych i ich twórczością. Podobnie jak Franz Boas, który w swej teorii sztuki prymitywnej odrzucił model ewolucjonistyczny i utożsamienie „prymitywu” z niższym stadium rozwoju, Szuman podkreślał swoistość twórczości dziecięcej i sztuki ludowej. Nawiązując do etnologa neoewolucjonisty Maxa Richarda Verworna (pojęcie „ideoplastyki”) i do psychologicznych hipotez Jeana Piageta, w sztuce dziecka widział związek z organicznym rozwojem zdolności poznawczych i potrzebą ich uzewnętrzniania. Proponowana przez Szumana koncepcja wychowania przez sztukę, zakładająca nie tyle gotowy program kształcenia, co wspomaganie indywidualnego rozwoju uczniów, stała się częścią silnego w polskiej tradycji nurtu pedagogiki personalistycznej, reprezentowanej m.in. przez Henryka Rowida, Janusza Korczaka czy Antoniego Kenara.
The article is devoted to the aesthetic concepts of the Polish philosopher and pedagogical theorist, Stefan Szuman (1898-1972). Szuman’s interest in the work of children and folk art was in line with the shift towards the “primitive” in European culture at the beginning of the 20th century, which resulted from the critical assessment of the processes of modernization and longings for regeneration, as well as from the anthropological research on the structure of primitive societies and their creativity. Like Franz Boas, who in his theory of primitive art rejected the evolutionist model and the identification of “primitive” with a lower stage of development, Szuman emphasized the specificity of children’s creativity and folk art. Referring to the neo-evolutionist ethnologist Max Richard Verworn (the concept of “ideoplastic”) and to the psychological hypotheses od Jean Piaget, Szuman saw in the art of children a connection with the organic development of cognitive abilities and the need to externalize them. The concept of education through art proposed by Szuman, which assumed not so much a ready curriculum as supporting the development of students, has become a part of the trend of personalistic pedagogy, represented in Poland among others by Henryk Rowid, Janusz Korczak and Antoni Kenar.

Celem artykułu jest wskazanie istoty i możliwości wychowania przez sztukę dzieci w klasach I-III szkoły podstawowej na zajęciach plastycznych. Zaakcentowano konieczność podnoszenia poziomu kompetencji nauczycieli wczesnej edukacji wczesnoszkolnej w zakresie tworzenia dzieciom warunków do poznawania i bezpośredniego doświadczenia sztuki. Cel badań: Celem artykułu jest ukazanie wychowawczych walorów sztuki realizowanych w  toku edukacji plastycznej dziecka w klasach I-III szkoły podstawowej. Stan wiedzy: Rozbudzanie wrażliwości na piękno oraz kształcenie umiejętności wyrażania i odwzorowywania sztuki za pomocą różnych metod i technik ustanowiono jako pedagogiczne zadanie nauczyciela w zakresie edukacji plastycznej. Spotkanie ze sztuką stanowi jest podstawą procesu pozwalającego odkrywać jej wartości. Podsumowanie: W tekście podkreślono, iż wychowanie dziecka przez sztukę łączy się nie tylko z koniecznością stałego poszerzania wiedzy w tym zakresie, ale przede wszystkim z motywowaniem dziecięcej twórczości plastycznej.
The aim of the article is to indicate the essence and possibilities of educating through art children in grades 1-3 of primary school during visual art classes. In the study, the need to raise the level of competences of early childhood education teachers in terms of creating conditions for children to learn about and experience art directly has been emphasized. Aim of the research: The aim of the article is to show the educational values of art realized in the course of children's art education in grades 1-3 of primary school. State of knowledge: Raising a sensitivity to beauty and developing the ability to express and reproduce art using various methods and techniques was established as a pedagogical task of a teacher in the scope of visual arts education. The encounter with art is the basis of the process of discovering its values. Conclusion: The text emphasizes that raising a child through art is connected not only with the need to constantly expand knowledge in this area, but above all to motivate children's artistic creativity.

Wskazane przykłady dzieł obejmują zarówno polski, jak i zagraniczny rynek wydawniczy.
Art creates a space for conversation about emotions, colors, textures, situation and characters presented by the author. Observing the work should be an active act of creative conversation with ourselves experience and sensitivity. The piece of art could be an inspiration for the communicative situation so it might be used while learning foreign languages. Contemporary book market for children and youth offers a wide range of books about art and artistic activities. It presents art and its history in an accessible and interesting way especially for younger audiences. The use of the latest books about art shows a picture of modern thinking about artistic education. It focuses on the reception of art from the perspective of a young participant of culture and their abilities. The aim of that article is to introduce the modern publishing offer and indicate the practical possibilities of using book about art while learning Polish as a foreign language. These examples of works include both – the Polish and foreign publishing market.

Teatr dla dzieci i młodzieży powinien wspierać odbiorcę w jego indywidualnym rozwoju oraz przygotowywać inteligentną i otwartą publiczność w przyszłości. Staje się to szczególnie ważne w świetle zagrożeń współczesnego świata związanych z unifikacją i cybernetyzacją ludzkich społeczeństw. Teatr powiązany z dzieckiem ma dwie odmienne formy: teatr dla dzieci i teatr dziecięcy. Pierwszy z nich jest tworzony przez dorosłych zawodowych artystów dla młodych odbiorców. Sztuka traktowana jest jako źródło wiedzy o kulturze, cywilizacji i kondycji ludzkiej. Jest częścią sztuki dla dziecka. Teatr dziecięcy jest tworzony przez dzieci. Najważniejszy jest tu sam proces twórczy, nie spektakl. Dlatego teatr dziecięcy jest częścią pedagogiki. Tekst prezentuje (w czterech przykładach) realizację koncepcji „teatru interaktywnego”, który rozumiany jest jako działania teatralne włączające widzów w akcję w znacznie większym stopniu niż czyni się to w tradycyjnym teatrze.
Theatre for young people should help children in their individual development and also prepare new, intelligent and open theatrical audiences for the future. This is very important in a world endangered by the unification and cybernation of human beings. Theatre involving children can be manifested in two different ways: theatre for children and children’s theatre. The first is created by adult artists for a young audience. It treats art as a source of knowledge about culture, civilization and the spiritual condition of people. In this respect, theatre for children is a part of art for children. Children’s theatre is created by children. The emphasis is placed on the process of creating the show and not on the effect. For that reason, children’s theatre is a part of pedagogy. The text presents 4 examples of theatrical creation termed “interactive theatre”. Such theatre engages the audience much more fully and activates their imagination and creative thinking much more than traditional theatre does.

For numerous years pedagogical conceptions have argued that art for children has the great potential as an educational medium. It can also be considered as a perfect tool that helps to develop child’s visual perception, which has a particular importance in contemporary culture saturated with visuality. The example of open access and valuable art for children (as well as adults) is a picturebook. The potential for this genre is hiding not just in visual and verbal massages but also throughout „architecture” of the book. All of these elements and relationships between them provide inspiration for activities in area of art education. However the contact which child at adult’s participation has with picturebook opens new space for own research, thoughts, interpretations and to ask questions. Hence it evokes a reflection on content hidden in images. There is an attempt in this article to recognise the important educational elements of the form and content of picturebooks on the example of the authorial work of Iwona Chmielewska. The visual characteristics and parts of the text has been presented in comarition to the basis education through art tasks by Herbert Read. This fundamental for theory of aesthetic education concept, in the context of transformations of culture in the 21st century, it acquires new meanings.
Przez lata liczne koncepcje pedagogiczne dowodziły, że sztuka dla dzieci posiada niezwykły potencjał jako medium w wychowaniu. Można ją uznać za znakomite narzędzie pośredniczące m.in. w kształtowaniu percepcji wzrokowej dziecka, co we współczesnej kulturze przesyconej wizualnością nabiera szczególnej wagi. Przykładem ogólnodostępnej, a jednocześnie wartościowej sztuki dla dzieci (jak również dorosłego) jest książka obrazkowa (ang. picturebook). Potencjał tego gatunku kryje się nie tylko w przekazie wizualnym i werbalnym, ale także całej „architekturze” książki. Wszystkie te elementy oraz zależności między nimi mogą stanowić inspirację do działań w obszarze edukacji plastycznej. Jednak kontakt dziecka z książką obrazkową przy współuczestnictwie dorosłego otwiera także przestrzeń do własnych poszukiwań, przemyśleń, interpretacji i stawiania pytań. Tym samym wywołuje refleksję na temat treści ukrytej w obrazach. Celem artykułu jest próba rozpoznania istotnych wychowawczo elementów formy i treści książek obrazkowych na przykładzie twórczości Iwony Chmielewskiej. Wskazane cechy wizualne i przytoczone fragmenty tekstu książek odniesiono do sformułowanych przez Herberta Reada zadań wychowania przez sztukę. Ta fundamentalna dla teorii wychowania estetycznego koncepcja w kontekście przeobrażeń kultury XXI wieku wydaje się nabierać nowych znaczeń i nadal inspiruje licznych badaczy.

The aim of the article is to present the selected educational books on art, which can be divided into: informative positions, encyclopedic positions, exhibitions guides and books promoting cultural institutions; books inspired by the selected artworks; “kreatywniki – ćwiczenniki” (creativebooks – exercisebooks; books which develop the child’s creativity). These are books that promote art collections, exhibitions, and other artistic-cultural events, as well as develop the imagination and creativity of a young reader. It is extremely important for the children to take part in a widely understood culture, and thanks to educational books they shape their artistic sense and gain the habit of interacting with art.

The article discusses interactivity and intermediality in the output of the Polish avant-garde artists Franciszka and Stefan Themerson. The author claims that their two-dimensional works created in the 1930s and addressed at children are early examples of interactive strategies activating young readers in search for understanding of the modern world. Non-traditional illustrations, experimental typography and texts far from ‘classical’ literature for children form inseparable verbo-visual entities (named ‘wordgraphy’) where words and images are of equal importance. What happens between the engaged media proves most interesting and most innovative.

The article is an attempt at describing the relation between resilience and needs. It is based on the assumption that these are two sets of variables vital for harmonious development that resonate with each other in a peculiar manner. Resilience and human needs are both contextually and hereditarily conditioned, but the relation between them seems not necessarily a linear one. In adults, resilience might be a significant medium in the satisfaction of needs and even condition them. In children, however, the relation between these variables is different. A child is born with certain potential determining its level of resilience, but deprivation of their key needs, especially during first years, might simply impair their development or disturb its synchronisation. The main issue discussed in this article is the basis of the relation between resilience and the needs that must be satisfied at school. The article contains observations made while carrying out an experimental project that enables the youngest pupils to access and fulfil their multidimensional needs.

W niniejszym artykule zaprezentowano przegląd badań, które dotyczyły znaczenia i skuteczności metod arteterapii u dzieci imigrantów i uchodźców. W literaturze przedmiotu wskazuje się na zwiększone ryzyko problemów w obszarze zarówno zdrowia psychicznego, jak i zdrowia fizycznego u imigrantów i ich dzieci. W szczególnie trudnej sytuacji znajdują się uchodźcy i ich dzieci, którzy poza wyzwaniami związanymi z adaptacją w nowym miejscu osiedlenia mają również doświadczenie traumy z kraju pochodzenia. Wśród oddziaływań terapeutycznych i pracy z dziećmi uchodźców i imigrantów szczególne miejsce zajmuje terapia sztuką, czyli arteterapia. W artykule przyjęto szeroką jej definicję, zgodnie z którą są to „wszelkie formy i metody pomocy terapeutycznej, przy których wykorzystuje się różne dziedziny sztuki: malarstwo, rysunek, literaturę, muzykę, taniec, dramę”. Dokonano przeglądu badań, w których sprawdzano znaczenie arteterapii w kontekście poprawy funkcjonowania psychologicznego w zróżnicowanych wiekowo grupach dzieci imigrantów i uchodźców. Okazuje się, że oddziaływanie terapeutyczne z wykorzystaniem sztuki może mieć znaczenie w kontekście radzenia sobie z problemami doświadczanymi przez te grupy osób.
This article presents an overview of research on the importance and effectiveness of art therapy methods in immigrant and refugee children. The literature on the subject indicates an increased risk of problems in the area of both mental and physical health in immigrants and their children. Refugees and their children are in a particularly difficult situation because, in addition to the challenges of adapting to a new place of settlement, they also experience trauma related to the country of origin. Among the therapeutic interactions and work with refugee and immigrant children, art therapy has a special place. The article adopts a broad definition of it, according to which it is “all forms and methods of therapeutic assistance in which various fields of art are used: painting, drawing, literature, music, dance, drama”. A review of studies examining the importance of art therapy in the context of improving psychological functioning in various age groups of immigrant and refugee children is presented. It turns out that the therapeutic impact with the use of art may be important in the context of coping for dealing with the problems experienced by these groups of people.

Opis:
The problem around which this study was constructed is the contemporary art and a person, who creates this art – an artist, and their authentic perception by the child. A modern vision of the child too often shows the artist in a distorted, incomplete or reduced way. This kind of children knowledge, based on the patterns and stereotypes, reduces the reflectivity of children, unnecessarily distorts their judgment and closes the road ahead to a full and critical participation in the world. The study is based on the analysis of interviews and children’s drawings centered around the perception of the profile of an artist by children. It results from the analysis of the research material gathered during the study that this is a stereotypical vision, and the artist is still associated with a person who remains beyond the reach of “normal” society. The conducted research shows the diversity of the types of meanings that children aged 5–7 attribute to the term “artist” and “artistry”. The naive ideas on this subject created by children prove to be a collection of beliefs of a partially common and often completely different nature. For a pedagogue, the ultimate purpose of the research is to obtain knowledge which will allow effective changes in education, in this case, in art education. The investigation of meanings which children attribute to concepts concerning the artistic phenomena may allow to create a strategy of transmission of knowledge of art history and to design the creative activities connected with the broadly-understood visual arts.

In the first part of this article, their authors refer to selected aspects of the theory of art therapy and the need to apply art therapy in medical practice. Then they present the results of a survey conducted among the members of the conference and workshops ‘Art in the therapy of children with developmental disorders’, which was held at The Witelon State University of Applied Sciences in Legnica on 20th May 2016.
