The aim of the paper is to identify and characterize radically different models of supply chains. On the one hand, it tends to indicate the economic basis of theoretical existence and development of these different models and, on the other hand – that reconstructs their basic attributes. According to authors the model of symbiotic supply chains are one example of sharing economy institutions. The presented model should be treated as ideal types (of the Weberian sense), which is extremes actual business practice. It can become the starting point for assessments of real supply chain and design directions of their improvement.

Rozważania zawarte w artykule wpisują się w dyskurs naukowy dotyczący definiowania pojęć w aspekcie podejścia łańcuchowego jako formy współdziałania przedsiębiorstw. Celem artykułu jest próba usystematyzowania koncepcji łańcucha logistycznego, łańcucha dostaw i łańcucha wartości w kontekście współdziałania przedsiębiorstw na rynku. Na bazie przeprowadzonej krytycznej analizy literatury krajowej i zagranicznej przedstawiono genezę podejścia łańcuchowego oraz dokonano analizy definicji głównych łańcuchów. Wzięto pod uwagę konfigurację cech łańcucha, do których należą: struktura podmiotowa, przedmiot przepływu oraz cele, zakres czynnościowy i obszary współdziałania uczestniczących podmiotów. Wnioski płynące z badań umożliwiają wyodrębnienie łańcucha logistycznego oraz zidentyfikowanie go jako niezbędnego trzonu łańcucha dostaw i łańcucha wartości. Jednocześnie badania wskazują na coraz większą względność koncepcji łańcucha dostaw i łańcucha wartości oraz coraz większą trudność w zdefiniowaniu granicy pomiędzy tymi pojęciami.
Article is a part of the scientific discourse concerning the chain approach concepts as a form of cooperation between enterprises. It attempts to systematize the concepts of the logistics chain, supply chain and value chain in the context of cooperation between enterprises on the market. On the basis of a literature review the genesis of chain approach is presented, as well as the analysis of the definition of the indicated chains. The conclusions of the study allow to extract the logistics chain and to identify it as an essential element of the supply chain and value chain. At the same time studies show the increasing relativity of the concept of supply chain and value chain and increasing difficulty in defining the boundary between these concepts.

The paper presents selected aspects of the evaluation of the effectiveness and risks of the logistics chain that supports the enterprise. It was assumed that the logistics chain includes all activities associated with the flow of materials from the sourcing of raw materials for sale to the ultimate purchaser of the product and the disposal of used products. It was found that the elements of the supply chain are usually unstable which generates difficulties in determining the appropriate level of the risk of the chain. The paper presents a formal record of risk and performance. There is proposed determination of the effectiveness of individual links of the logistics chain. The task of the logistics chain is to provide goods from producers to the final customers, thereby making available these goods in a place and time suited to the needs and expectations of customers. The movement of goods in the logistics chains is determined by the sequence of interrelated actions. In the logistics chains, many entities are involved to different extents. This determines the spatial distribution of different configuration of individual users of the whole logistics chain. In particular, example of a logistics chain of production company, stages of the procedures for quantitative risk analysis, the problems in the logistics chains, assessment of the risk of the task in the logistics chain, the concept of risk, effectiveness and risk in logistics chains are presented in the paper.

As a result of the growing importance of ''green'' practices conducted by participants of supply chains, the interest of possibly obtained results on this account also increases. Therefore, the purpose of these considerations is to indicate what kind of effects are most often obtained by entities in the above dimension. Quantitative research was carried out among manufacturing enterprises registered in Poland, which are participants of domestic and international supply chains. A questionnaire was used as a research tool. On the basis of research, among other things, it has been proved that enterprises primarily produce results in the area of for the sake of materials management and for the natural environment, while clearly visible economic effects are not notably visible. This is characteristic of the initial stage of the development of green practices.

On the basis of a thorough analysis of the subject literature combined with empirical research, the article shows that contemporary Lean-based supply management is not only a matter of cutting costs or improving lead times. In business practice, the efficiency of Lean transformation against the whole supply chain, to a greater extent, depends on the quality of relationships with suppliers, which must, above all, be based on a mutually beneficial collaboration. In order to improve the flows between the manufacturer and his supplier, and to observe the principle of the Lean Concept, entities use a series of support tools and methods. In large companies, which are active on the global B2B market, it is an increasingly more common practice to develop the so-called Lean Matrix, which is a basis for Lean audit at the supplier’s. It is also a good practice to develop Lean supplier development programmes in order to support continuous and sustainable development, in accordance with the principles of the Lean Concept.

The fundamental problem concerning development of supply chain strategies is not taking into consideration social and environmental dimensions. Companies and entire supply chains focus on financial issues. External pressures make an issue of Sustainable Supply Chain Management more and more important. Companies start to integrate their efforts to include sustainability in their supply chain strategies. The problem is lack of universal rules and widely accepted metrics of performance. The issue is also very important from a regional point of view because developing regional supply chains can be a threat for the environment and local societies.
Podstawowym problemem w zakresie rozwoju strategii łańcucha dostaw jest nieuwzględnianie wymiaru społecznego i środowiskowego. Firmy i całe łańcuchy dostaw skupiają się w większości przypadków na kwestiach finansowych. Jednak presja zewnętrzna w kwestii zrównoważonego zarządzania łańcuchami dostaw staje się coraz bardziej istotna. Firmy zaczynają integrować swoje wysiłki na rzecz włączenia zrównoważonego rozwoju w swoje strategie w łańcuchach dostaw. Problemem jest brak uniwersalnych reguł i powszechnie przyjętych wskaźników wydajności. Kwestia ta jest również bardzo ważna z regionalnego punktu widzenia, ponieważ rozwój regionalnych łańcuchów dostaw może stanowić zagrożenie dla środowiska i społeczności lokalnych.

In carrying out manufacturing processes, an important role is played by the supply chain. Proper functioning of the supply chain is affected by several factors, the parameters and manifestation of which may change under situations of crises. However, disruptions may not solely pose a threat to supply chains that should be avoided. In some cases, the presence of risk may have a positive side to it, namely being the motivating factor initiating innovation. This may result in improvement of the status quo, increase in productivity and creating ways of eliminating consequences of risk. On a concrete example, the paper shall describe how innovation, spurred by crisis brought about by the current pandemic situation, can be implemented to the supply chain in the automotive sector.

Due to the pressure of competition, high process efficiency has become a corporate ob¬jective for companies to maintain their global competitiveness. To ensure high process efficiency, it is important to constantly reduce process losses within various business activities. Different concepts to evaluate the efficiency of a company's key processes have therefore been discussed in academia. These concepts largely concentrate on the production area of one single company. Currently, howev¬er, not only individual companies but also entire supply chains are competing with each other. For this reason, it is necessary to thoroughly evaluate and increase the efficiency of production, transport, handling, and warehousing processes along the entire Supply Chain. We addressed this challenge with the conceptual design of a supply chain improvement system (SCIS). The results of empirical research focussing on the managerial purpose of the SCIS indicate that intercompany efficiency evaluation and improvement are prevalent issues in entrepreneurial practice.

The article presents selected issues concerning the modelling of the supply chain in the evaluation of the efficiency of tasks realization. In the process of determination, efficiency of the functioning of the supply chain it is necessary to determine the components of both the effects and expenditures in quantitative terms. It is assumed that the effect resulting from action taken depends on the problem under consideration, for example, the result may be the amount of the profits, savings resulting from implemented solutions or measurable improvement of the quality system, expressed e.g. percentage. While the outlay incurred for the implementation of the action is, in general, the expense of implementing this action. The article pointed out that the assessment of the efficiency can be used to decide on the choice of a decision of the many variants of solutions to the problem. In this respect, important are indicators of the efficiency both the technical, economic, quality, and organizational. In the article were also presented possible approaches to improve the efficiency of the supply chain. In the problems of assessing efficiency of functioning of systems with a complex functional structure such as supply, chains increasingly are applicable algorithms based on the so-called heuristics. Hence, in the article briefly have been characterized also chosen heuristic algorithms – genetic algorithms.

The authors analyse this method and suggest to attain some adjustments in order to increase the operational reliability and the service life of mining chains.

Effectiveness is the prism through which supply chains are defined. Different management methods can be used to measure supply chain effectiveness, such as life cycle assessment or sustainable supply chain management. In order to properly model and manage reverse supply chains for wood biomass, the structure of the supply chains was examined. For this purpose, a correlation analysis of the basic parameters of wood biomass reverse supply chains was carried out. After their identification, the level of mutual correlation was verified using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The coefficient of determination r2 was also verified for the two parameters with the highest degree of interaction – the sales of wood chips and the purchase of wood biomass. To improve the verification, scatter plots were made to further confirm the degree of interaction. As a result of the analysis of the parameter interdependencies and a discussion of the results of other international studies, the parameters were found to be applicable in modelling effective reverse supply chains of wood biomass.

Aim/purpose - This research aims to design an analytical framework to investigate the dimensions, factors, and key indicators affecting the green supply chain based on the innovative technology of Artificial Intelligence of Everything (AIoE). Understanding the cause-and-effect relationships of all actors in this smart and sustainable system is also one of the critical goals of this research. Also, examining the key features of AIoE technology as a new hybrid technology is one of this research's most essential features. Design/methodology/approach - This research has tried to extract and refine the most critical parameters affecting the green supply chain based on technology by reviewing the literature and examining the opinions of active experts in the field of study. Then, by using the focus group, it has been tried to provide an analytical framework to express the cause-and-effect relationships of all actors active in this system by examining the basic features of AIoE. Finally, this framework was validated and approved using experts' opinions and the focus group, emphasizing integrity, comprehensiveness, and effectiveness. Findings - This research identified the dimensions, components, and indicators affecting the smart, green, and sustainable supply chain based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). It also presented an analytical framework that shows the cause-and-effect relationships of all active actors in this system. Research implications/limitations - This research simultaneously offers significant insights into implementing intelligent and sustainable process-oriented systems. However, it is important to note the limitations. One of the most significant challenges in presenting the framework was finding experts with sufficient awareness, knowledge, and experience and participants to analyze cause-and-effect relationships. Originality/value contribution - This research provides a practical analysis of AIoE technology for the first time. The results strongly support the argument that hybrid AIoE technology can tremendously impact the sustainability and greenness of supply chain processes.

Określenie wielkości oraz charakteru zużycia i identyfikacja obszarów bębnów łańcuchowych szczególnie narażonych na uszkodzenie, jest możliwe w oparciu o pomiary ich cech geometrycznych. Skomplikowana geometria gniazd sprawia, że nie jest to zadanie proste do realizacji, a stosowanie tradycyjnych metod i przyrządów pomiarowych jest mocno ograniczone. W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie pomiaru cech geometrycznych bębnów łańcuchowych metodą stykową i metodą bezstykową. Metoda stykowa odbywała się za pomocą maszyny współrzędnościowej, a metoda bezstykowa za pomocą skanera optycznego. Przedstawione procedury pomiarowe umożliwiły identyfikację węzłów, najbardziej narażonych na zużycie w wyniku współdziałania z łańcuchem zgrzebłowym.
It is possible to determine the volume and character of wear and to identify the areas of chain drums particularly susceptible to damages by measuring their geometric properties. The complicated geometry of seats makes this task difficult. Traditional measuring methods and equipment can be used to a limited extent. The article features the issue of measuring geometric properties of chain drums with the use of the contact method and non-contact method. The contact method is performed by means of a coordinate measuring machine, while the non-contact method by means of an optical scanner. The presented measuring procedures enabled to identify the nodes most vulnerable to wear due to interactions with the chain.

An attempt to combine the issue of food supply chains, the market of traditional products and food quality schemes was undertaken. The aim of the article was to indicate and discuss the most important factors influencing functioning of food supply chains in the context of food quality schemes existing in the European Union and on the domestic market. The following factors: food quality systems in force, added value in the entire food supply chains, requirements and nature of demand (consumer choices), challenges of the concept of sustainable development, collaboration and cooperation of the participants in the supply chain were discussed in the article. Attention was also paid to other elements (beyond the scope of this study) that are important in the development of food supply chains and in undertaking further research.

W artykule dokonano analizy wpływu zaufania międzyorganizacyjnego na wyniki działalności łańcucha dostaw (supply chain performance). Jego celem było także opracowanie mapy bibliometrycznej wskazującej obszary tematyczne powiązane z zagadnieniem zaufania oraz oceną wyników działalności łańcucha dostaw. W przeprowadzonym przeglądzie literatury wykorzystano artykuły z lat 2000-2015 dostępne w bazach EBSCO oraz ScienceDirect. Analizę bibliometryczną przeprowadzono na podstawie artykułów naukowych dostępnych w bazach Web of Science i Scopus. Do opracowania danych wykorzystano oprogramowanie VOSviewer oraz analizę współwystępowania słów w tytułach, streszczeniach i słowach kluczowych analizowanych publikacji.
In the paper the impact of interorganizational trust on supply chain performance was analysed. The aim of the article was also to develop bibliometric map indicating the thematic areas related to the issue of trust and supply chain performance. In the conducted literature review the articles from year 2000 to 2015 available in EBSCO and ScienceDirect research databases were analysed. Bibliometric analysis was carried out on the basis of scientific articles available in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The bibliometric map was elaborated with use of VOSviewer software and analysis of co-occurrence of words in the titles, abstracts and keywords in analysed publications.

This article concerns the increasing complexity and variability of the business environment and the challenges faced by enterprises that operate within supply chains to properly identify and anticipate disruptions and adequately respond to them (i.e., the ability to resist and rebuild). This article aims to identify and evaluate the importance of the main factors that determine supply chains’ adaptability in the modern economy. A review of the literature on the subject, and the results of a survey conducted in the third quarter of 2022 among entities from the transport forwarding logistics (TFL) industry, diagnose the determinants of the adaptability of supply chains that operate when there are disruptions. They indicate the challenges faced by TFL companies that result from the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine and the directions of changes that result from them, both from the short-term and strategic perspectives. The relationships between the development of adaptability of supply chains and the increase in the competitiveness of entities enable us to verify the research hypothesis that, in the face of increasing disruptions and uncertainty in the business environment, strengthens the adaptability of supply chains producing a great potential in terms of maintaining the competitiveness of enterprises in the TFL industry. To gain and maintain a long-term competitive advantage, companies should strive to create a resilient supply chain that can withstand challenges and disruptions.

The modern food retail trade means a concentrated and overstocked market in developed countries as well as in many developing countries. Joining the food chains of the “modern retail trade” often poses a problem for small-sized agricultural producers, which decreases their market opportunities. Trading in short supply chains is an option for producers to reach markets and increase incomes. The object of this exploring study is to use primary interviews to assess the opinions and satisfaction of the producers trading in short supply chains about their sales opportunities. The main question is how short supply chains can perform their given roles as regards both producer positions and in rural development.
Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie opinii na temat zadowolenia producentów prowadzących sprzedaż w krótkich łańcuchach dostaw. Współczesny handel detaliczny artykułami żywnościowymi charakteryzuje się nadmierną koncentracją. Często wejście na rynek dla małych producentów w takiej sytuacji jest niemożliwe. Alternatywą dla takich podmiotów są krótkie łańcuchy dostaw. Do badań wykorzystano dane pierwotne. Pytanie badawcze dotyczyło tego, jak krótkie łańcuchy dostaw mogą wykonywać swoje funkcje w odniesieniu zarówno do pozycji producenta, jak i rozwoju obszarów wiejskich.

The fourth industrial revolution (4IR) introduces significant changes in various areas of economic and social life. Many of them are perceived as groundbreaking and game-changing, which is a feature of every revolution. 4IR exerts a direct impact on economic and social life through the incredible development of ICT. The paper aims to present the scope of impact of these changes on logistics and supply chain management – areas of business management that are currently of great importance for competitiveness. The role of ICT in modern logistics and supply chain management was also shown, and selected specific technologies that considerably contribute to the deepening of digital transformation in these areas of activity were discussed. Attention was drawn to the complementarity of ICT solutions at the enterprise and the economy levels. The authors came up with a concept of an intelligent (digital) supply chain as a solution that satisfies the need to strengthen supply chain’s resilience and supports the implementation of environmental sustainability strategies in line with the development of the circular economy. The authors also discuss development directions of the so-called intelligent logistics and intelligent supply chains under the conditions of 4IR.

The purpose of the study is presentation of the method of increasing the competitiveness of the mining industry through the demonstration of the possibility and potential in closing the loop of supply chains through waste management. A critical analysis of the source literature and an arithmetic analysis of statistical data in static and dynamic perspectives were accepted to be the research method. It has been found that the structure of the level of mining wastes and the level of their recovery rates demonstrate a large potential of closing the loop of chains in this industry and, at the same time, a potential to extend the chains through directing the material from recovery to various sectors. This constitutes an example of the direction of activities that are in line with the EU strategies for the economies of other states which possess this type wastes.

Supply Chain makes the flow of goods, services and information from suppliers, through transport, producers, distributors, retailers to end customers. Big producers opt for a strategy of outsourcing logistic services, especially storage, delivery, and distribution services to end-customers. Commitment to the strategy of outsourcing, at the same time, is the strategy of focus on the core business. Small producers, especially manufacturers of agricultural food products, have recently opted to avoid intermediaries in the transport and distribution of the product to the end customer. All in order to increase the quality of their own products and increase the competitiveness by eliminating the costs of intermediaries in transport and distribution. This is achieved by merging and shortening the supply chain. The EU has established an institutional framework regulating the operations of producers through a short supply chain. The market situation requires further optimization by producers due to lack of labour and the need to increase competitiveness and leads to the emergence of a reversible supply chain phenomenon. In the paper, the author, by applying general and special scientific methods of cognition, explores the advantages and shortcomings of the short and reversible supply chain, derived from the traditional and modern supply chain model.

The material fatigue phenomenon consists of progressive material damage through the appearance and development of fractures under the influence of variable, periodically recurring stresses. Engineers designing machinery and structures to be fatigue resistant can gain useful insights about design and material properties by reviewing the literature. In this way, we can avoid costly research, but in the case of complex loading phenomena and the interaction of components, we must carry out such research. Fatigue strength calculations are less accurate than simple static calculations. The wear of link chains is concentrated in three areas, depending on the installation location and function of the individual links, namely: in the joints (the points of contact between two links), on the outer surfaces of the arches and on the outer surfaces of the straight sections of the links. During operation, chains are particularly vulnerable to wear through abrasion, corrosion and fatigue. These ageing factors, which act with varying intensity depending on the properties of the deposit, determine the service life of the chain, unless other unforeseen damage occurs, e.g. "hard" blockage of the chain. In many cases, users are guided by their own subjective criteria for assessing the technical condition of chains, which does not always lead to fully rational decisions regarding the continued use of used chains. To date, there have been no attempts to transfer the results of chain fatigue tests to behaviour of real objects. This paper presents issues related to mining chain fatigue testing. The test results presented are for both new and used chains. The experimental tests conducted at GIG made it possible to solve the problem of applying fatigue test results in industrial practice.

W artykule zaprezentowano i usystematyzowano nazewnictwo stosowane wobec łańcuchów dostaw rozpatrywanych w kontekście ryzyka zakłóceń, takich jak: szczupły, adaptacyjny, zwinny/elastyczny, sprężysty, odporny, wrażliwy i przejrzysty łańcuch dostaw. Przedstawiono determinanty wrażliwych łańcuchów dostaw wytypowanych na podstawie przeglądu literatury. Ostatecznie zaprezentowano wyniki przeprowadzonych analiz statystycznych nad atrybutami zmniejszającymi prawdopodobieństwo i skutki wystąpienia zakłóceń w łańcuchu dostaw.
The article presents and systematizes terminology applied to supply chains considered in the context of the disruption risk, such as lean, adaptive, agile/flexible, resilient, robust, vulnerable and visible supply chain. Also, presents determinants of vulnerable supply chains selected based on the literature review. Finally, the results of the statistical analysis of the attributes of decreasing the likelihood and consequences of disruptions in the supply chain are presented.

Podstawowy problem to dlaczego finanse łańcucha dostaw powinno być ważnym obszarem zainteresowania menedżerów logistyki. Odpowiedź na to pytanie oraz identyfikacja metod zarządzania finansowego w łańcuchu dostaw są celem badawczym niniejszego opracowania. Artykuł składa się z czerech zasadniczych części. W pierwszej wskazano na współczesne tendencje w dziedzinie zalecanych metod zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem i ich konsekwencje dla zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw. W drugiej uzasadniono równoważny charakter finansów łańcucha dostaw z problematyką fizycznego przemieszczania oraz przepływu informacji. Część trzecia dotyczy identyfikacji różnic między celami zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem a celami zarządzania łańcuchem dostaw złożonym z wielu autonomicznych przedsiębiorstw. Wreszcie część czwarta została poświęcona potencjalnym metodom zarządzania finansowego w łańcuchach dostaw, akcentując znaczenie nowych instrumentów dla budowania przewagi konkurencyjnej łańcucha jako całości.
The key problem is why supply chain finance should be an important area of interest for logistics managers. The answer to this question and the identification of the supply chain financial management methods are the research objectives of this paper. The article consists of four parts. In the first one, we present contemporary trends in recommended business management methods and their implications for supply chain management. The second justifies the equivalence of supply chain finance with the issue of physical movement and information flow. The third part deals with the identification of the differences between the objectives of enterprise management and the objectives of supply chain management. Lastly, the fourth part was devoted to potential methods of financial management in the supply chains, emphasizing the importance of new instruments for building competitive advantage of the chain as a whole.

Globalization, uncertainty and volatility of the environment are forcing organizations to use new concepts that support the effective organization management, including supply chain management. The aim of the article is to answer what is supply chain management and lean management and if the lean management tools may be applied in the supply chain optimization. Critical analysis of literature indicates that value stream mapping is a useful tool in optimization of supply chain. It is observed that the term lean supply chain emerges. However, it is a need to seek new solutions in the field of logistics and the emergence of the agile concept and later a resilient supply chain.

W artykule omówiono urządzenia stosowane w spalinowych i elektrycznych przenośnych pilarkach łańcuchowych służące do ochrony operatorów przed kontaktem z ruchomym narzędziem. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na urządzenia zatrzymujące ruch piły łańcuchowej lub uniemożliwiające przypadkowe powodowanie jej ruchu: uruchamiające w różny sposób hamulec piły (zwłaszcza podczas odbicia pilarek), zatrzymujące maszynę oraz umożliwiające tylko świadome zatrzymanie lub zainicjowanie ruchu piły łańcuchowej.
The paper discusses appliances in combustion and electrical chain saws used to protect operators against contact with a moving tool. Special attention is paid to appliances that stop the chain or prevent its accidental operation: they activate the chain brake in different ways (particularly during kickback of chain saws), stop the machine and also enable only intentional stopping or initiating chain motion.

The global economy requires global supply chain management which relies on visibility and responsiveness. Determinants such as: information technology tools, process knowledge, sales and operations planning experiences, etc., enable the formation of theory and practice for the supply chain control tower concept. The goal of the research paper is to identify business examples of different approaches to the supply chain control tower in the past and initiate a discussion on their future. This paper synthesizes past control tower practices and identifies possible future trends. The author performed: literature analysis, three selected companies’ case studies and comparative analyses. As the control towers evolve, while supply chains are transforming continuous, update from the market is needed. The research findings showed the selected companies, in the future, perceived control tower’s activities as a potential source of revenue not just solely a source of cost and time optimization as well as a source of value added to customer. The researched control towers were built and still they are developed. The business frequently changes and requires control towers to be adjusted, reengineered and adaptive. The researched control towers are needed to keep control over supply chain while it is transforming. There is a differentiation between the supply chain control towers, logistic services control towers and reverse supply chain control towers. An integration mechanism between the control towers would be necessary to assure entire supply chain visibility and orchestration. The research also shows the knowledge gap regarding the control towers in supply chain, specially their possible configurations and future.

Strong supply chain can help to minimize costs, reach new customers, maximize profit, etc. In the article collaboration of the supply chain and its performance drivers (production, inventory, location, transportation and information) is performed; strengths and trends that can affect supply chains in the future are defined. Based on ranking results of Gartner, Inc. 2017 supply chain leaders in the world are highlighted. In 2017 such companies as Unilever, McDonald’s, Inditex had the best supply chains, and perennial supply chain leader Amazon has become “supply chain master”. According to the supply chains’ analysis (Amazon, Inditex (brand Zara) and Unilever) it was defined that each company builds its own supply chain, which is based on specific key elements. So, for example, for Amazon the most important elements of supply chain are warehousing, products’ distribution, own logistics, own production; Zara while constructing its supply chain focuses on such key elements: combination of manufacturer and retailer functions, fast response to trends, low inventory level, environmental responsibility, products’ distribution; Unilever bases its supply chain on such elements as sustainable power utilization, environmental responsibility, strategic partnerships all across the world, own logistics, blockchain development, supply chain transparency and products’ distribution.

The building partnerships with suppliers, contributes increasingly effective and fast communication. Currently, most often takes the form of exchange of information, using electronic means of communication. Relationship management in the supply chain allows the participants to see the significant benefits that affect strongly on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, thus lowering the impact on operating costs for both suppliers and customers. Through effective communication between the partners carried out it is possible to prevent potential losses by coordinating the flow of information for both prospective customer demand forecasts and actual demand in the period. This is achieved by working closely linked to the monitoring of stocks and needs of clients (through the analysis of various ranges of production cycles). Building these relationships allows for quick and effective communication (the ability to interact on-line) by familiarizing customers with current product offerings (taking into account the innovations introduced), check product availability in stock suppliers, as well as an assessment of the supplier's ability to design or produce the necessary volume of the deadline. Effective communication processes run allow the formation of close relationships with suppliers posed by the precise definition of the technical requirements (in terms of quality parameters and to have the necessary infrastructure) and organizational (implementation of operational improvement tools).

This study aims to analyze key driving factors for Transformative Supply Chain (TSC), including technical skills, trust and services availability. Data was collected from 189 customers sampled across different regions in Jordan and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings revealed that technical skills and service availability are significant drivers for a TSC, whereas trust influence on TSC was not supported by the findings. The research has important implications for supply chain logistics managers. It recommends that simple, flexible and clear design should be considered in TSC implementation as these factors play a vital role in enhancing customer experience and patronage. Additionally, service availability for all customers anywhere seems an important mechanism that could ensure the sustainability of TSC services during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Niniejsze badanie ma na celu analizę kluczowych czynników napędzających transformacyjny łańcuch dostaw (TSC), w tym umiejętności technicznych, zaufania i dostępności usług. Dane zebrano od 189 klientów z różnych regionów Jordanii objętych próbą i przeanalizowano za pomocą modelowania równań strukturalnych (SEM). Ustalenia ujawniły, że umiejętności techniczne i dostępność usług są istotnymi czynnikami wpływającymi na TSC, podczas gdy wpływ zaufania na TSC nie został poparty tymi ustaleniami. Badania mają ważne implikacje dla menedżerów logistyki łańcucha dostaw. Zaleca, aby we wdrażaniu TSC uwzględnić prosty, elastyczny i przejrzysty projekt, ponieważ czynniki te odgrywają kluczową rolę w zwiększaniu doświadczenia klienta i patronatu. Ponadto dostępność usług dla wszystkich klientów w dowolnym miejscu wydaje się ważnym mechanizmem, który może zapewnić trwałość usług TSC podczas pandemii koronawirusa.

The economy of Taiwan began to take shape after the occupation of the island by Japan under the peace treaty with the Chinese Qing Empire in 1895. After that, Tokyo began to actively invest in the development of a new territory: railroads, factories and defense enterprises were built. In this way, an industrial base was created that Taiwan uses to this day. After Japan’s defeat in World War II, the island briefly returned to the Republic of China. However, there was a civil war in the country between the communists and nationalists, who rallied around Chiang Kai-shek, who eventually lost and withdrew to Taiwan with his associates. Taipei officially named the new state the “Republic of China” and has declared and continues to declare claims against the entire territory of China. Beijing, on the other hand, regularly declares that Taiwan is part of the People’s Republic of China and has announced its reunification with the “rebellious island”. The article deals with the economic consequences for the world economy resulting from the potential crisis between China and Taiwan. The subject is inspired by the dependence of the economies of many countries, including the United States and the European Union, on products supplied from the region of East Asia, especially by Taiwan, which in the event of a crisis in relations between conflicted countries may create threats to the international economic security.

The article presents certain aspects of decision of effective management of supply chains organized for companies. Companies service issues have been identified both in the supply and distribution area. Were defined factors affecting the organization of operating in various spheres of companies. It was pointed out that the basic functions directly related to the core business of companies resulting from the industry, the size and the conditions of competition, e.g. for the production facility, it could be manufacturing process itself, while for the commercial company implementation of marketing strategies and building brand image. The paper also presents the factors affecting the costs and benefits companies interested in outsourcing their logistics providers of comprehensive services. Inter alia the essence of the supply chain functioning, integrated management model of supply chain network including flow of stream of goods and flow of stream of information, objectives of supply chain management, decisions of effective supply chain management concerning on minimizing cost of logistics services and high level of quality of delivery services, performance evaluation measures of processes in the supply chain are presented in the paper.

Supply chain can be considered as a series of linked inventories. This paper considers the impact of inventory on the economics of the businesses and the whole chain and discusses causes of inefficiency. In most supply chains the goods are inactive for the majority of the time, and this leads to longer term and therefore less accurate forecasting. The result is typically excess inventory, shortages, and inflexibility. By analysing the wasted time and costs in the supply chain, a clearer view of the whole process can be created. Total supply time can be considered as three components, namely value added time, non-value added process time, and waste time. This basic approach shows where improvements should be focussed. Using this time-based measurement enables more relevant comparison between supply chains than the normal supply chain efficiency ratio.

The issue of supply chain security is not the same everywhere, especially when the global and local dimensions are considered. The article discusses in detail the differences occurring in the perception of the problem of security, as well as in the evaluation of the most important threats to the supply chain. International regulations generally apply to the most commonly used modes of transport and to global threats such as terrorism. The local dimension, described on the example of Polish enterprises, involves other means of transport and occurring threats. Despite this, all companies are obliged to comply with international rules and procedures imposed by other countries which results in additional costs, but does not guarantee better protection in the local dimension. The article analyzes the possibility of filling this gap by voluntary initiatives instead of another international laws.

At present a supply chain poses quite a challenge. The paper presents one the methods supporting decision makers in a supply chain, namely a Markov chain of kth row. This theory constitutes an important part of the law of probability and it is also associated with soft calculation methods e.g. fuzzy sets. It may be applied in numerous fields e.g. physics, genetics, meteorology and technical disciplines. The Markov chain method may be used when assumptions about independence of events and random variables cannot be made. Thanks to this method social-economic phenomena may be predicted. These characteristics made the author attempt to create a model based on the Markov chains of kth row in a supply chain. The focus was on sales planning accounting for safety stocks planning and various characteristic of this supply chain.

This article provides an economic assessment of the impact of the global pandemic COVID-19 on the economic efficiency of commercial airlines. The dominant role of airlines in the formation of flexible service supply chain and service travel chain has been identified, which increases their customer orientation and competitiveness in the air transportation market, as well as allows them to adapt more quickly to the changing logistics environment. It has been proven that the use of the outsourcing mechanism in combination with the diversification of services provided, allows, on the one hand, to create added consumer value for customers, and on the other - necessitates building complex integration relationships with business partners in service supply chains. Analysis of statistics and experience of leading airlines with different business models in the air transportation market has shown that outsourcing business processes in a global pandemic has allowed carriers to optimize costs according to the volume of work, respond flexibly to changes in consumer demand and better overcome negative impacts external logistics environment.

The aim of the article is to designate catalogues of typological disruption as an inherent element of supply chain management in the light of uncertainty conditions. By means of deduction, the typological characteristics of the disruption and the catalogue of management decisions were determined. In this way, the scope of theoretical knowledge based on the theory of risk and supply chain management was expanded by leading the discourse towards the location of the so-called required uncertainty in the canon of obligatory components of management strategies. The article presents an overview discourse leading to the conclusion that contemporary supply chain management requires at least an attempt to forecast the effects of uncertainty conditions, including the risk of disruption.

Podczas gdy temat konfiguracji i rekonfiguracji łańcucha dostaw wydaje się być opisany względnie obszernie w literaturze przedmiotu, szczególnie anglojęzycznej, to nie ma w niej pozycji zorientowanych na powiązanie rekonfiguracji łańcucha dostaw z bezpośrednimi inwestycjami zagranicznymi. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest podjęcie próby wstępnego wypełnienia tej luki oraz zilustrowanie problemy badawczego studiami przypadków koncernów globalnych przenoszących do Polski własne procesy, szczególnie produkcyjne i dystrybucyjne.
It is well established in literature that a company’s supply chain has to be adapted in order to cope with challenges of an unstable and ever changing environment, and gain an edge over its rivals in attracting customers and defending against competitive forces. The concept of supply chain configuration and reconfiguration has been at the centre of much recent research, but one might feel a lack of research on interdependencies between global supply chain reconfigurations and foreign direct investments. In a turbulent global business environment of the 21st century, a deep reshuffling of suppliers, production plants and international distribution centres locations have occurred, under which a new specific division of responsibilities between the different regions of the world and individual countries is observed. As a result of these processes some regions and countries may gain or lose their importance in the global order of network systems. Poland appears to be one of the main beneficiaries of these changes and has begun to play key roles in the global, especially European supply chains. Four case study analyses of global firms (Avon, Coty, Dell and IKEA) locating their manufacturing and/or distribution processes in Poland are presented to give evidence for the thesis.

W pierwszej części artykułu, omawiane jest zagadnienie zastosowania zarządzania logistycznego w realiach łańcucha dostaw. Następnie rozważana jest kwestia czy obecne warunki determinujące działanie łańcucha dostaw charakteryzują się stabilnością. Przedstawiony jest także wpływ tych warunków na działanie łańcucha dostaw. Na zakończenie, artykuł przedstawia logistykę socjalną jako nowy kierunek rozwoju logistyki tradycyjnej.

Logistics system efficiency has a major impact on the level of the country's economy, thus the area deserves special attention. The New Reality of the Next Decade (VUCA) characterizes the modern market by the following features: volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Besides, the trends already formed in such conditions are specifically exacerbated and emphasized. Two main ones among those for the global logistics area include digital and sustainable supply chain. The automotive industry has a leading role in the world economy, so it has a direct impact on its development. The article considers current state and up-to-date digital solutions targeted at the industry. These topics are going to be covered by the main directions of digital transformation overview, in-depth explanation of their importance for the success along with some practical examples presentation for the cases of automotive industry digital transformation.
