Opis:: Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a clinical syndrome in which genetically susceptible individuals respond to the administration of potent inhalation anaesthetics and depolarization skeletal muscle relaxants with skeletal rigidity, unstable blood pressure, tachycardia, arrhythmias, hyperventilation, hypoxia, lactic and respiratory acidosis and high fever. In studies of the genetic basis of MH, a mutation was identified in the porcine (C1843T) and human (C1840T) skeletal muscle ryanodine receptor (RYR1) gene. This gene is mapped on human chromosome 19q13.1. The RYR1 gene contains 106 exons, of which two arc alternatively spliced.

Opis:: Six seedling hypocotyl anatomical characters of sugar beet diploid lines and triploid hybrids were measured. Root yield and sugar content of these lines and hybrids were evaluated in replicated field trials. Some of the studied hypocotyl characters: the diameter of the central core, the diameter of parenchymatic cells outside the central core and the width of xylem, correlated negatively with sugar content and positively with root yield. This suggests that these parameters can be used in preliminary selection of sugar-beet breeding material. Introducing such criteria into the breeding process could speed up the selection and reduce the number of expensive field trials.

Opis:: The article addresses the development of curricula for German study programs in Central Eastern European Countries over the past 70 years, from the post-war period to the present. These are shaped by social framework conditions and historical factors, such as the end of the war in 1945, and the years directly following, membership of the so-called communist Eastern Bloc, and membership in the EU in 2004 and 2007. The political changes of 1989/1990 marked one of the most important milestones; a period began in which western languages including the German language flourished in German departments; only with demographic change has enrolment dropped rapidly since the turn of the millennium. Already in the first decade of reunification, German institutes “lost” their graduates to careers that were not oriented towards the humanities, a phenomenon dominated by international companies with business contacts in German-speaking countries. Today, the majority of universities and German studies institutes are reacting to the pragmatic demands of the labor market and are modifying their range of courses, even if this is at the expense of traditional curricular content.

Opis:: W wielu krajach, w tym w Polsce, banki centralne przyjęły strategię w polityce pieniężnej określaną jako cel inflacyjny. Cele inflacyjne są zazwyczaj formułowane jako określony poziom wskaźnika cen towarów i usług konsumpcyjnych (Consumer Price Index - CPI). Wskaźnik ten obejmuje jednakże ceny żywności i energii, które niemal całkowicie pozostają poza oddziaływaniem decyzji polityki pieniężnej. Wydaje się więc uzasadnione uwzględnianie w kształtowaniu reakcji polityki pieniężnej inflacji bazowej (z wyłączeniem cen żywności i energii).
In many countries, including Poland, central banks have adopted the monetary policy strategy known as inflation targeting. Usually, inflation targets are formulated as a given level of consumer price index (CPI). However, this measure includes food and energy prices, which are almost entirely beyond the impact of monetary policy decisions. Thus, while shaping monetary policy reactions, it seems justified to take into account core inflation (excluding food and energy prices).
