Opis:
In the article the chosen aspects of ethnocentrism including its reasons were presented in the prosumption context. The important role of both consumption trends was underlined. 2 research hypotheses were formulated and verified during empirical studies. The method of questionnaire survey was used for gathering primary data. The method of factor analysis was used for analysing gathered data. Its results allowed for indicating 3 segments of respondents. Two of them included persons with features specific for prosumers. They are very valuable for Polish offerers. The both hypotheses were confirmed.

This paper deals with the integrated supply chain management problem in the context of a single vendor-single buyer system for which the production unit is assumed to randomly shift from an in-control to an out-of-control state. Two different strategies, integrating production, shipment and maintenance policies, are proposed and compared to satisfy the buyers order at a minimum integrated total cost rate. The first strategy is based on a classical production policy for which the buyer’s order of size nQ is manufactured continuously and shipped by lots of size Q. The second strategy suggests that the same buyer’s order should be produced and shipped separately by equal sized lots Q. For both strategies, a corrective or preventive maintenance action is performed at the end of each production cycle, depending on the state of the production unit, and a new setup is carried out. The total integrated average cost per time unit is considered as the performance criterion allowing choosing the best policy for any given situation.

Opis:
This article deals with the question of the incompatibility of a sold object with the contract. Before the act of consumer’s rights of 30 May 2014 entered into force, the term in use had been warranty and responsibility on the basis of incompatibility of the consumption item. At present, the regime of responsibility has been unified. One of the main changes included in the act of consumer’s rights is indeed the new form of the hitherto used definition of a physical defect. In the present law state, the priority is given to contractual arrangements, which were made by the parties while concluding the contract. In case no as such agreements are drawn, one should be guided by the objective occurrence included in Art. 5561 §1 c.c., which enables to state if a physical defect of the sold object has occurred. In comparison with the former legal statement of Art. 5561 c.c., the amendment is far more expanded and brings out a plethora of doubts con cerning its interpretation. This article discusses particular subsections and paragraphs of Art. 5561 c.c. simultaneously including research on realistic possibilities of using the laws mentioned above. An attempt to assess the changes has been made. Doubts arise with reference to Art. 5561 §2 c.c. and 5561 §3 c.c., where one is not able to state clearly the accuracy of solutions implemented from the directive 1999/44/WE of the European Parliament and the Committee of 25 May 1999 in terms of certain aspects of consumption items of trade and connected with these, warranties of 25 May 1999 on the basis of Polish law.

Opis:
Research background: Although the literature on power asymmetry and power dynamics has recognized the issue of factors that cause power shifts in business-to-business relationships, a more systematic approach and research framework regarding the identification of these factors is lacking. There are attempts in business-to-business literature to use the critical incident technique to study dynamic phenomena, but there are no studies on the factors that increase and decrease the power of suppliers in their relationships with dominant buyers. Purpose of the article: The aim of this paper is to identify the factors that influence the most significant changes in suppliers' power in relationships with dominant buyers. An important objective is also to determine to which power sources the identified factors are assigned. This is crucial for business practitioners, who will be able to adjust their actions when managing a relationship with a dominating partner through knowledge of their own strengths as well as weaknesses. Methods: The study is based on analysis of questionnaires with open-ended questions, and uses the critical incident technique to investigate the behaviour of dyadic parties at key moments in buyer-seller relationships. We have focused on investigation of manufacturing companies mainly from the furniture, construction, energy and printing industries. The analysis of the data was based on the abductive approach as a combination of inductive and deductive coding. Findings & value added: In comparison to previous studies, which did not distinguish the level of importance of each factor, we have obtained only those factors with the greatest impact on power dynamics. We have also obtained factors which can decrease suppliers' power, whereas the literature focuses mostly on factors increasing suppliers' power. The research results reveal the factors that affect an increase and decrease in the power of weaker suppliers in relationships with dominant buyers. First- and second-order factors were identified, and subsequently 3 overarching dimensions for each increase and decrease in supplier power were deduced from the results. The most important overall dimension for the increase in power was the building of suppliers' power capabilities, while the decrease in suppliers' power was most influenced by transactional changes and changes in buyer's expectations. The results can be helpful for managers in focusing their attention on expert power in order to gain knowledge and prepare a practical background for managing asymmetric relationships. It is important to mention that the critical incident technique used in this study has not yet been used to represent power dynamics in B2B relationship literature.

Legal services have an important role in the society. It is a very specific and rapidly developing market sector. An easily noticeable novelty in the legal services market is a change in customer orientation from “customer looking for a lawyer” to a “lawyer looking for a customer”. The role of the customer of the legal sector is changing. There has been a transition of this role, from a client coming to a lawyer to seek legal advice to a partner who shapes the legal service together with the lawyer. The customers using legal services are now more active, decisive, demanding, better informed and are able to use that new knowledge to their advantage. According to Porter’s Five Forces tool, buyer power is stronger nowadays. In the paper, most important determinants of customers market position change are highlighted.

Opis:
Unfair trading practices (UTPs) imposed by parties with superior power in the context of a vertical relationship are an issue at the periphery of competition law, private law, and, sometimes, sectoral regulation. For a long time, the mainstream competition law approach has been to relegate such issues to other areas of law and regulation. In the EU, where complaints about the prevalence of such practices in the agricultural and food supply chain have been voiced for decades, the approach of the European Commission has been to pursue a strict separation between competition issues and fair-trading issues. This article questions the reasonableness of such a strict division of labour. Taking the sum of various initiatives undertaken to regulate UTPs in the agri-food supply chain as a case study, it argues that the effect of limiting competition law enforcement on this issue has been counterproductive. The article firstly explains the background of the problem and the issue of UTPs in the agri-food supply chain. Secondly, it maps the various legislative developments which have taken place at the EU Member State level. Thirdly, by referring to Grabosky’s (1995) regulatory studies typology of counterproductive regulation, the article focuses attention on some of the perverse side effects which arise when regulation of power imbalances and UTPs occurs at the national level in the context of an integrated market like the EU. In light of the analysis, it expresses doubt that these pitfalls will be fully corrected by Directive 2019/633 on UTPs in the food supply chain. The conclusion is that national legislative developments have not been able to make up for the lack of supra-national enforcement of EU competition law on this issue and have possibly even exacerbated the problem at hand. The article concludes that supranational competition law enforcement can play a key role in addressing the fundamental problems underlying business-to-business unfair trading practices. It argues that this role cannot be played by other instruments in the context of an integrated market with multi-level governance. This article shows that while competition law may not be capable of solving all the problems with UTPs, it remains indispensable in safeguarding the proper functioning of the internal market as well as the interests of consumers and taxpayers.

In today’s dynamic business environment, firms are required to utilize efficiently and effectively all the useful resources to gain competitive advantage. Supplier development has evolved as an important strategic instrument to improve buyer supplier relationships. For that reason, this study focuses on providing the strategic significance of supplier development approaches to improve business relationships. By using qualitative research method, an integrated framework of supplier development and buyer-supplier relationship development has been tested and validated in a Finnish case company to provide empirical evidence. It particularly investigates how supplier development approaches can develop buyer-supplier relationships. The study present a set of propositions that identify significant supplier development approaches critical for the development of buyer-supplier relationships and develop a theoretical framework that specifies how these different supplier development approaches support in order to strengthen the relationships. The results are produced from an in-depth case study by implementing the proposed research framework. The findings reveal that supplier development strategies i.e., supplier incentives and direct involvements strongly effect in developing buyer-supplier relationships. Further research may focus on considering indepth investigation of trust and communication factors along with propositions developed in the study to find out general applicability in dynamic business environment. Proposed integrated framework along with propositions is a unique combination of useful solutions for tactical and strategic management’s decision making and also valid for academic researchers to develop supplier development theories.

The study will help to perform a comprehensive analysis of the application being discussed. Practical implications: The right choice of forms and tools of marketing communication not only determines the purchase, but also builds the commitment and loyalty of the buyer, who may ultimately become a brand advocate. Therefore, it is particularly important to have a holistic approach to the dialogue with the consumer and to understand the mechanisms influencing his decisions. Originality/value: Although the topic of e-commerce appears in academic publications, only a few of them relate these devices to the customer journey. This paper comprehensively deals with this topic and focuses on the relationship between online customer journey, the 5A model and the promotion mix tools.

Opis:
There are contradictive explanations in the literature on the impulse buying behavior. Some research shows that consumers view impulse buying normatively wrong, while other research reveals that consumers buy impulsively. The purpose of this study is to examine the motivations of impulse buying behavior and to investigate the relationship between each set of motivation and decisions which lead to university students’ impulse buying behavior. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the predictors of impulse buying behavior. The results show that hedonistic desires, perceived decision-making accuracy and perceived decision effort were the determinants of impulse buying. As a recommendation, business strategies targeting Malaysians in this university should be carried out by considering their potential motivations and university students should not over-rely on their impulsiveness traits as complimentary purchasing alternative.
