The paper presents the results of case study analysis conducted to assess the benefits of system implementation. The research was carried out in Polish recruitment company. We assessed the benefits of recruitment system implementation using the perspectives of a Balanced Scorecard and, in particular, the modelling and measurement of the main processes of recruitment. We designed indicators of the organization’s performance and we measured them before system implementation (as-is state) and after possible implementation (can-be state). This procedure allowed us to determine changes which the recruitment system could make, and also permitted to take a final decision on whether to invest or discontinue planning implementation.

Rosnące zainteresowanie firm integracją oraz interoperacyjnością systemów informatycznych spowodowało wzrost znaczenia architektury usługowej (ang. Service-Oriented Architecture), która zapewnia narzędzia umożliwiające integrację aplikacji korporacyjnych (ang. Enterprise Application Integration). W tym sensie magistrala usług (ang. Enterprise Service Bus) zapewnia techniczne możliwości komunikacji między systemami informatycznymi. Kluczowym elementem w tej komunikacji są przepływy integracyjne. Cel: Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie nowej transformacji Integration2BPEL, która automatyzuje konstrukcję wykonywalnego przepływu integracyjnego wyrażonego w języku Web Services Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) na podstawie modelu tego przepływu przedstawionego na diagramie aktywności języka Unified Modeling Language (UML). Metoda: Autorzy proponują transformację typu model-to-code generującą przepływ integracyjny wyrażony w BPEL, który może być uruchamiany w dowolnym silniku procesów BPEL. Przepływ integracyjny modelowany jest za pomocą diagramu aktywności języka UML z użyciem stereotypów z profilu „UML Profile for Integration Flows” w środowisku IBM Rational Software Architect (RSA). Przy zastosowaniu transformacji Integration2BPEL generowany jest kompletny, wykonywalny przepływ integracyjny złożony z wielu mechanizmów mediacyjnych. Wygenerowany przepływ integracyjny uruchamiany był na magistrali usług OpenESB. Wyniki: Możliwość generacji kompletnego przepływu integracyjnego w BPEL, który bez żadnych uzupełnień może być uruchamiany na magistrali usług. Zautomatyzowana została faza implementacji przepływu integracyjnego. Każdy z przepływów integracyjnych implementowany jest według takich samych zasad. Ponadto, unika się dzięki temu błędów popełnianych przez projektantów i programistów. Wnioski: Wytwarzanie oprogramowania sterowane modelami (ang. Model-Driven Development) jest podejściem, które może prowadzić do automatyzacji fazy projektowania i programowania. Uzyskuje się wprowadzenie jednolitego mechanizmu konstrukcji przepływu integracyjnego.
The growing interest of companies in integration and interoperability between information systems has caused increase in significance of Service-Oriented Architecture which provides tools for Enterprise Application Integration. In that architecture, Enterprise Service Bus provides technical possibilities of communication between IT systems. A key element in the communication are integration flows. Objective: The aim of this article is to present a new transformation Integration2BPEL, which automates the development of executable integration flow expressed in the Web Services Business Process Execution Language (WS-BPEL) based on the model of the integration flow presented in the Unified Modelling Language (UML) activity diagram. Method: The author proposes a transformation of the type of model-to-code type which generates integration flow expressed in WS-BPEL, which can be executed in any BPEL-compliant process engine. The integration flow is modelled using UML activity diagram with stereotypes from ‘UML Profile for Integration Flows’ profile in an IBM Rational Software Architect (RSA). Using Integration2BPEL transformation a complete, executable integration flow is generated, which is composed of many mediation mechanisms. Generated integration flows have been executed on OpenESB. Results: The ability to generate a complete integration flow in BPEL, which without any additions can be run on enterprise service bus. Implementation phase of an integration flow construction was automated. Each of integration flows is implemented according to the same rules. In addition, it allows to avoid mistakes made by designers and programmers. Conclusions: Model-Driven Development is an approach that leads to the automation of the design and programming phases. Integration2BPEL transformation is a uniform mechanism to design integration flow. Potentially, it also allows to avoid implementation errors.

Logistics processes in manufacturing companies are focused on issues related to sales and distribution, as well as with production planning, materials management and supply. The process of production planning is one of the most important in the entire logistics chain. Launching a new product is preceded by a number of sub-processes. In the case of the company presented in the article, the process to start with is the status definition process. The paper presents a model of the status definition process for a new product in basic data management system -SAP. To design the status definition process presented in the paper a dedicated IT tool (ARIS Platform) was implemented.

Opis:
The paper presents the findings of the ease of understanding tests for selected business process modelling notations as an element of diagnosing the notations information potential. The easiest-to-understand notation is identified, as well as the attributes determining the choice of this notation as the easiest to understand. Three notations used in business process modelling have been subjected to diagnosis: EPC, BPMS and BPMN. Based on the results of these analyses, recommendations have been formulated for organisations where process modelling requires the involvement of all employees and where process awareness needs to be developed. Using an intuitive notation may contribute to improved communication between users representing different professional profiles and translate into a higher effectiveness of organisational changes.

Provisions of Directive 2014/55/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 on electronic invoicing in public procurement provide for an obligation for public procurement sector units to be able to receive structured electronic invoices. The article presents assumptions and results of studies carried out at the Poznań City Hall which consisted in a comparative process analysis of the current state (AS IS) of receiving traditional paper invoices and the postulated process (TO BE) of receiving structured electronic invoices.

Często zdarza się, iż sprawa, którą klient przedkłada w urzędzie nie przebiega właściwie. W dużej mierze zależy to od wykonawców danego procesu biznesowego. Proces biznesowy można modelować za pomocą logiki klasycznej wspomaganej logikami deontyczną i epistemiczną. Wiedza agenta o stanie procesu ma charakter. Zachowanie się agentów realizujących proces zależy między innymi od: woli wykonania, umiejętności. Zachowanie aktorów precyzyjniej opisuje rozmyta logika deontyczna. Artykuł proponuje notację umożliwiającą zapis modelu procesu biznesowego ilustrowany przykładem.
Business processes can finish with success or collapsed before their designed ending. It is relative to actors that executed process. Business process can be modelled using deontic and epistemic logics. The knowledge of agents depends on concrete situation and has a fuzzy character. In the business processes context some reasons for fuzziness can be identified: complexity of terms, human preferences and goals, description of reality in natural languages. Actor’s behaviour depends on their will to execute process, skills or state of health. Agent’s behaviour described more precisely by fuzzy deontic logic. The new notation is proposed to afford possibilities for modelling precisely execution of business processes.

The paper presents selected results of model and implementation research concerning the design of a management information system (MIS) to support the functioning of office administration offering sale of services. The application was tested with view to implementation in the Association for Promotion and Scientific Innovations Implementation (AP&SII or Association). The following issues were discussed: methods of organization management modelling, suitable software, available tools supporting modelling, methods of implementation of models in organization systems, etc. E-Bureau information system is an application developed using Eclipse platform with the following plug-ins installed, namely Data Base Development Tools and PHP Development Tools. The system is based on libraries, i.a. Zend, BootStrap, JQuery. The following programming tools were used: CSS, JavaScript, HTML, PHP.

Even though the literature is abundant in numerous studies concerning syntactic and semantic principles of the EPC model development, one may still have certain doubts when linking such models with one another. This article primarily addresses the principles of creating EPC models, particularly those relevant from the perspective of linking them, identified based on the literature research. What follows the said analysis is a proposal of an alternative concept which may be adopted in this respect. The author has discussed the cases in which models must be subject to specific modifications in order for the linking solution proposed to be applicable.

EPC models provide a subject widely discussed in the literature. The principles applicable, while creating them have been elaborated upon in numerous publications. An analysis of the existing principles indicates certain inconsistencies as far as the creation of hierarchical models is concerned. The problem of combining equivalent EPC models using process interfaces has been discussed in the author’s previous publication. This paper continues to elaborate upon the problems previously raised, pertaining to EPC model linking by means of hierarchical functions. It addresses principles significant from the perspective of creating and linking such models using the aforementioned approach. Specific questionable situations have been described and individual solutions proposed to enable avoiding them.

The article deals with the features and characteristics of intelligent systems for modelling business processes. Their classification was made and criteria for comparison were developed. According to the comparative analysis of existing expert systems for intelligent analysis, a reasonable choice of system for modelling business processes of a particular enterprise has been carried out. In general, it was found that the introduction of intelligent systems for modelling business processes of the enterprise and forecasting its activities for future allows management of the company to obtain relevant and necessary information for the adoption of effective management decisions and the development of a strategic plan.

EPC models are currently among the leading standard business process modelling solutions. As long as the rules for creating flat EPC models are explicit and raise no significant doubts, when it comes to linking models of different types, the literature of the subject delivers diversified solutions. Four such alternative concepts that can be applied in this respect have been identified and described in this article. They have been used to link EPC models for four cases proposed. These cases differ as to the degree of complexity, and they represent different kinds of potential links between processes being modelled. Using the concepts in question with reference to the cases defined has made it possible to identify situations in which it is impossible to link models, or when it raises certain doubts. What has also been proposed is that one of the concepts identified in the paper can be modified in such a manner that using it to link EPC models does not pose any problem in any of the cases discussed.

Knowledge-based technologies form a basis for creation of flexible intelligent enterprise. In the paper the concept of Shared Service Center (SSC) for public administration is introduced. Processes and models of SSC are defined, but from the point of view of one of the main purpose of public administration– delivering public services. It is proposed to, while planning and implementing SSC, not only focus on designing services for organizational units participating in the SSC, but also to design solution for e-services for citizens. So the emphasis should be put, not only on modelling supporting processes just like for planning the implementation of commercial SSC, but also on core processes. Specific legal solutions are also pointed out, which are supporting this concept, from the point of view of organization of SSC (new Polish legislation) and from the point of view of funding the development of SSC (European Union operational programs supporting e-services for A2A and A2C).
