Opis:
In this paper, we study the existence and uniqueness of fractional differential equations with boundary value conditions. A new generalized singular type Gronwall inequality is given to obtain important a priori bounds. Existence and uniqueness results of solutions are established by virtue of fractional calculus and fixed point method under some weak conditions. An example is given to illustrate the results.

We present some sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions to a third order differential equation subject to nonlocal boundary conditions. Our approach is based on the Krasnosel’skiĭ-Guo fixed point theorem in cones and the properties of the Green’s function corresponding to the BVP under study. The main results are illustrated by suitable examples.

Opis:
The cuboidal room acoustics field is modelled with the Fourier method. A combination of uniform, impedance boundary conditions imposed on walls is assumed, and they are expressed by absorption coefficient values. The absorption coefficient, in the full range of its values in the discrete form, is considered. With above assumptions, the formula for a rough estimation of the cuboidal room acoustics is derived. This approximate formula expresses the mean sound pressure level as a function of the absorption coefficient, frequency, and volume of the room separately. It is derived based on the least-squares approximation theory and it is a novelty in the cuboidal room acoustics. Theoretical considerations are illustrated via numerical calculations performed for the 3D acoustic problem. Quantitative results received with the help of the approximate formula may be a point of reference to the numerical calculations.

Opis:
This article investigates the existence of solutions to second-order boundary value problems (BVPs) for systems of ordinary differential inclusions. The boundary conditions may involve two or more points. Some new inequalities are presented that guarantee a priori bounds on solutions to the differential inclusion under consideration. These a priori bound results are then applied, in conjunction with appropriate topological methods, to prove some new existence theorems for solutions to systems of BVPs for differential inclusions. The new conditions allow the treatment of systems of BVPs in the absence of maximum principles and growth conditions. The results are also new for differential equations involving Carathéodory or even continuous right-hand sides.

Opis:
In this paper, we present a numerical solution to an ordinary differential equation of a fractional order in one-dimensional space. The solution to this equation can describe a steady state of the process of anomalous diffusion. The process arises from interactions within complex and non-homogeneous background. We present a numerical method which is based on the finite differences method. We consider a boundary value problem (Dirichlet conditions) for an equation with the Riesz-Feller fractional derivative. In the final part of this paper, some simulation results are shown. We present an example of non-linear temperature profiles in nanotubes which can be approximated by a solution to the fractional differential equation.

In this paper, we give some new results for multiplicity of positive (nonnegative) solutions for third-order differential equations with derivative dependence, deviating arguments and Stieltjes integral boundary conditions. We discuss our problem with advanced argument α and arbitrary β ∈ C([0,1],[0,1]), see problem (2). It means that argument β can change the character on [0,1], so β can be delayed in some set J¯⊂ [0,1] and advanced in [0,1] \ J¯. Four examples illustrate the main results.

Two elastic plate problems made of duralumin are solved analytically using the displacement potential approach for the case of plane strain and plane stress conditions. Firstly, a one end fixed plate is considered in which the rest of the edges are stiffened and a uniform load is applied to the opposite end of the fixed end. Secondly, a plate is considered in which all of the edges are stiffened and a uniform tension is applied at its both ends. Solutions to both of the problems are presented for the case of plane stress and plane strain conditions. The effects of plane stress and plane strain conditions on the solutions are explained. In the case of stiffening of the edges of the plate, the shape of the plate does not change abruptly, which is clearly observed in both of the cases. For the plane strain condition, the plates become stiffer in the loading direction as compared to the plane stress condition. For the plane strain condition, there is a significant variation of the normal stress component, σzz at different sections of the plate. The graphical results, clearly identify the critical regions of the plate for the case of the plane stress and plane strain condition.

Opis:
The global and local conditions of uniqueness and the criteria excluding a possibility of bifurcation of the equilibrium state for small strains are derived. The conditions and criteria are derived analyzing the problem of uniqueness of solution of the basic incremental boundary problem of coupled generalized thermo-elasto-plasticity. This paper is a continuation of some previous works by the author, but contains new derivation of the global and local criteria excluding a possibility of bifurcation of the equilibrium state for a comparison body dependent on statically admissible fields of stress velocity. All the thermal elastoplastic coupling effects, non-associated laws of plastic flow and influence of plastic strains on thermoplastic properties of a body were taken into account in this work. Thus, the mathematical problem considered here is not a self-conjugated problem. The paper contains four Appendices A, B, C and D where the local necessery and sufficient conditions of uniqueness have been derived.
