Opis:
The study explored the impact of experimental manipulation of body schema on creative potential in mid-adolescence. The experiment was conducted in a group of 140 adolescents at the age of 14-16: 68 boys (M = 15.03; SD = .93) and 72 girls (M = 15.01; SD = .81), randomly allocated to equinumerous groups: experimental and control. The aim of experimental manipulation was to obtain a temporarily disturbance of body schema. It was gained by the use of glasses reversing the field of vision in the vertical up/down plane, and measured by the Body Schema Disturbance Questionnaire. In both groups the Urban and Jellen’s Test for Creative Thinking – Drawing Production (TCT-DP, Urban & Jellen, 1986) was administered twice (in A and B versions, randomly selected). Statistical analyses was run with a mixed model ANOVA (2 drawings x 2 groups x 2 sexes). The interaction effect of drawing production and group assignment on creative potential was significant, while the interaction effect of drawing production and sex on creative potential turned out to be insignificant.

Opis:
The objective of the research presented in this paper was to investigate whether an association existed between the activation of the body schema and reaching adulthood among people in late adolescence. Three activities that are known to enjoy popularity among young people were analysed, namely: dancing, playing computer games that require motor involvement (e.g. Kinect), and playing computer games of an educational and entertaining character. It was assumed that the chosen forms of activity correspond to three levels of activation of the body schema. The following research methods have been applied to this study: the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES), the Defence Style Questionnaire (DSQ), and the Bodily Self Representation Questionnaire. The study has proven that the activation of body schema through dance is significantly related to high self-esteem and the use of mainly mature and neurotic defence mechanisms in threat situations.

Its core feature is body image disturbances which lead to psychopathological symptoms manifested as intrusive thoughts about weight gain. Material and methods. The aim of the study was to examine body image in the group of 17 girls suffering from anorexia nervosa treated in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Wroclaw. The average age of the sample was 15 years. Body image was analyzed using the self-assessment Body-Esteem Scale (based on Franzoi and Shields, 1984) and a questionnaire (developed by the authors) concerning the patient’s subjective assessment of the size and shape of their body, feelings and thoughts in relation to their own body, satisfaction with their appearance and whether they had any authorities. Results. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data. Most of the girls expressed a negative attitude to their own bodies and assessed the size of their silhouettes as much larger than they really are. Noted decreased satisfaction with the appearance of particular parts of the body such as the abdomen, buttocks, thighs while the respondents generally expressed a positive attitude to the appearance of their face.
