The article addresses the issue of a body language as a semiotic code and its reflection in systems of natural languages, in their phraseological resources. The material for analysis is phraseological units of contemporary Polish and Russian languages. The basis for comparison is the phraseological concept by Weronika N. Telia (В.Н. Телия) and linguistic works by Grigorij E. Krejdlin (Г.Е. Крейдлин). First and foremost, three types of signs of the body language are verbalised in subsystems under analysis: bodily symptoms, symptomatic and communicative gestures and a body position.

This publication defines and characterizes the body language and tries to show its place and its role in the courtroom in the criminal proceedings. According to Albert Mehrabian - one of the first researchers of the body language - only 7% are affected by the words, 38% by the voice signals (the voice tone, the modulation) and 55% by the non-verbal signals. In view of the above fact it follows that the skills of the effective occurrence pay off so are the considerations in this context justified?

Introduction. In spite of the rapid development in various communication-support technologies for those waking up from a coma, studies describing the sole process of reconstructing communication in this group of patients are scarce. Objective. The aim of this study was to analyze communication reactions in a minimal state of consciousness and describe the nonverbal behaviours characteristic for each stages significant for the therapy of communication. Materials and method. 18 severely brain-injured patients in a minimal state of consciousness participated in the half-year observation study, which included people experiencing at least 4 weeks of consciousness disorder/coma. Age of patients 25±5 years. Psychological assessment included: observation of various attempts of communications undertaken by patients, caregivers and family interview, the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and Individual Communication Sheet. Results. Data analysis showed a significant increase in preverbal communication, both in primal and sensory areas when compared between Stage II (GCS=6–8 points) and Stage III (GCS=9–12 points). After a time, primary communication reached a high level. Patients produced communication attempts from the behaviour organization level, and an increase in the nonverbal communication level was noted. Based on observations, nonverbal communication profiles for each stage of waking up from a coma were introduced. Conclusions. It was found that in the process of waking up from a coma the patients communicate with the use of the preverbal level of primal communication, the sensory and behaviour organization activities. The characteristics of the communication reactions show that in Stage III there is a significant increase in two preverbal communication areas: primal and sensory acts, when compared with Stage II.

The subject of this article is part of research trying to identify in a textual genre lexico-syntactic constructions with generic markers value. The analysis focuses on the linguistic expression of the manifestation of the blushing body in two textual genres: the detective novel and the romance novel. The aspectual value of these constructions may be related to the textual genre in which they appear because it seems to guide the inferential mechanism in the discovery of implicit information.

Marin Cureau de la Chambre belonged to the group of medicals and philosophers who played a significant role in the development of French philosophy of the seventeenth century. The scholar dealt with the basics of physiognomy and achieved a significant progress in this area. His main work, dedicated to the expression of emotions, provides a comprehensive analysis of human behavior and a classification of feelings. De la Chambre considered himself as a continuator of Aristotle’s works, but his research was in response to the demand of his own era. The author values more highly the realm of emotions and against the tendencies of rationalism, considers human nature almost entirely in their aspects. He considers the body as a medium which helps the soul express all its states of being. Body language is treated as a key to the human psyche. His method is designed to expose the real nature that people are trying to hide behind the conventions and cultural masks. For this purpose de la Chambre deepens his gaze on the context which can be defined as socio-psycho-geographic. The knowledge gained in this way was to be used in human resource management, politics, but also effectively navigating the intricacies of court life. In comparison with Descartes, the medical presents himself as the one who came closer to the knowledge of the “real man”, which, for the other one is clearly lacking. The article presents the main assumptions of de la Chambre’s physiognomy and, where possible, seeks to compare his “Expressions of feelings” with Descartes’ “Passions of the soul”.

W pierwszej części przedstawiona jest geneza oraz defi nicja teatru tańca, kolejno jego związki z terapeutyką oraz założenia terapii, a także przykłady leczniczego zastosowania ruchu scenicznego. Artykuł prowadzi do konkluzji, że teatr tańca, jako uniwersalny język umożliwiający mówienie o uczuciach i wewnętrznych konfl iktach, jest alternatywną metodą pracy z ludzkim ciałem i psychiką, szczególnie istotną w dobie narastających problemów w komunikacji intra- i interpsychicznej.
This article attempts to answer the question, what is dance theater and its role in therapy. In the Þ rst part the article shows the genesis and deÞ nition of dance theater, turns to its relationships with therapeutics and foundation of therapy, as well as examples of the therapeutic use of stage movement. The article leads to the conclusion that the dance theater, is a universal language that allows us to talk about feelings and inner conflicts, is an alternative method of working with the human body and psyche and it’s important as a factor in increasing problems in intra- and interpersonal communication.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to verify the importance of gesticulation on one’s image in the popular science discourse based on YouTube videos by Wojciech Drewniak, a historian. The study employed the formula of an experiment in which subjects watched a video and defined the image-related characteristics of the YouTuber, and then were asked to write on what bases they assigned individual characteristics. Gesticulation became key for the construction of such image-related characteristics as: “energiczny” (energetic), “pasjonat” (enthusiast), “charyzmatyczny” (charismatic), “o wyrazistej mowie ciała” (with expressive body language), “ciekawie opowiada” (talks in an interesting manner), “chaotyczny” (chaotic), “szalony” (mad), “irytujący” (irritating), “pewny siebie” (confident), and “wyluzowany” (chill). Apart from gesticulation also tone and the pace of talking as well as expressive facial expressions had a major significance. It is necessary to conduct other studies to check to what extent the achieved results are typical for this type of YouTube communication and to what extent they are specific for Wojciech Drewniak only.
Celem artykułu jest zweryfikowanie, jakie znaczenie wizerunkowe ma gestykulacja w dyskursie popularnonaukowym na przykładzie filmów historyka Wojciecha Drewniaka, umieszczanych w serwisie YouTube. Posłużono się formułą eksperymentu, w którym uczestnicy badania oglądali film, by potem określić cechy wizerunkowe youtubera, a następnie wypisać, co stało się podstawą wyłonienia poszczególnych cech. Gestykulacja stała się kluczowa dla konstrukcji takich cech wizerunkowych, jak: „energiczny”, „pasjonat”, „charyzmatyczny”, „o wyrazistej mowie ciała”, „ciekawie opowiada”, „chaotyczny”, „szalony”, „irytujący”, „pewny siebie”, „wyluzowany”. Oprócz gestykulacji, duże znaczenie wizerunkowe ma także ton i tempo mówienia oraz ekspresywna mimika. Potrzebne są kolejne badania, by zweryfikować, na ile uzyskane wyniki są typowe dla tego typu komunikacji na YouTube, a na ile jest to specyficzne wyłącznie dla Wojciecha Drewniaka.

W każdej organizacji jedną z najważniejszych spraw jest przepływ informacji pomiędzy jej członkami. Znajomość procesów komunikowania się ma ogromne znaczenie dla wyjaśnienia mechanizmów kształtujących zachowania społeczne, w tym także zachowania organizacyjne. Początkowo uważano, że komunikacja interpersonalna dotyczy jedynie kwestii związanych z wykorzystaniem systemu językowego w regulacji kontaktów społecznych i kształtowaniu procesu interakcji. Późniejsze analizy i refleksje metodologiczne pogłębiły tematykę badawczą o komunikację niewerbalną, która jest niezwykle istotnym elementem zachowań międzyludzkich, ponieważ, jak wykazały badania, aż 90% informacji przekazywanych w trakcie konwersacji czerpana jest z mowy ciała.
In every organization the flow of information between its members is a crucial factor. Knowing the processes of communication has a great importance in explanation of mechanisms determining social behavior, including organizational one. At the beginning it was thought that interpersonal communication concerned only issues of using the language system in order to regulate social contacts and to build interaction processes. Later analysis and methodological studies have added a non-verbal aspect of communication to the discussed problem. According to the investigations, which showed that up to 90% of information given during a conversation is expressed by body language, that kind of communication is a crucial element of interpersonal behavior.

W artykule zaprezentowano, na podstawie literatury przedmiotu, stanu badań, jak i wyników własnych eksploracji lubelskich studentów, rudymentarne wartości mowy ciała, a także ich uwarunkowania, które łączą się z kwestią kreowania wizerunku publicznego polityków. Przedmiotem refleksji były takie szczegółowe zagadnienia, jak: mowa ciała jako element komunikacji niewerbalnej, struktura wizerunku polityka, soma jako składnik wizerunku aktorów politycznych i ich kapitał „wyborczy”, determinanty mowy ciała w relacji: politycy–elektorat. W tekście akcentowano, iż prawidłowe „odczytanie” mowy ciała wymaga uwzględnienia kontekstu sytuacyjnego, w jakim się ona pojawia, a także jej relacji do treści werbalnych. Wygląd zewnętrzny, jako część wizerunku polityka, stanowi istotny element gry politycznej. Służy on do wywierania wpływu na innych. Zawiera w sobie odpowiednie elementy wartościujące, które mogą oddziaływać na decyzje podejmowane przez elektorat przy urnie wyborczej.
On the basis of the subject literature, the current state of research, as well as the results of own explorations of Lublin students, the article presents the rudimentary functions of body language, as well as their determinants, which are linked to the process of creating the public image of politicians. In particular, the article discusses such issues as: body language as an element of non-verbal communication, the structure of the image of a politician, soma as a component of political actors’ image and their “electoral” capital, determinants of body lan-guage in the relation: politicians-electorate. The article emphasises that the correct “reading” of body language requires consideration of the situational context in which it is used, as well as its relation to the verbal content. The external appearance as part of the politician’s image is an important element of the political game, since it serves as a tool of exerting influence on oth-ers. It also contains appropriate valuation elements which may influence the decisions taken by the electorate at the ballot box.

W nauczaniu języka polskiego jako obcego można zauważyć znaczną lukę. Luka ta obejmuje nauczanie komunikacji pozawerbalnej. Wydawać by się mogło, że przyswojenie kodu pozawerbalnego polszczyzny nastąpi u studenta synchronicznie z rozwijaniem sprawności językowej, ale okazuje się, że interferencja pomiędzy kodem niewerbalnym wyniesionym z kraju ojczystego i kodem typowym dla kraju języka docelowego jest na tyle duża, że powoduje zakłócenia w komunikacji. Na tym polu równie często pojawiają się błędy glottodydaktyczne wynikające z braku świadomości, że ten aspekt porozumiewania się powinien być też nauczany w trakcie zajęć dydaktycznych. Artykuł ten ma zatem na celu wskazanie miejsc, na które należy zwrócić szczególną uwagę w procesie nauczania, by w miarę możliwości ograniczyć problemy komunikacyjne studentów z różnych kultur.
There exists a major gap in the teaching of Polish as a foreign language. It applies to the teaching of extra-verbal communication. It would seem that the acquisition of the extra-verbal code of Polish can occur in students in parallel with the development of their linguistic competence, however, the level of interference between the non-verbal code taken from the country of origin and the code typical for the country of the target language is so high that it distorts communication. That is also just as often the cause of teacher errors caused by a teacher’s lack of awareness that this aspect of communication should also be taught in class. Therefore, this article is intended to indicate those areas to which a teacher should pay particular attention in the teaching process in order to limit as much as possible any communicative problems experienced by students from various cultures.

W nauczaniu języka polskiego jako obcego można zauważyć znaczną lukę. Luka ta obejmuje nauczanie komunikacji pozawerbalnej. Wydawać by się mogło, że przyswojenie kodu pozawerbalnego polszczyzny nastąpi u studenta synchronicznie z rozwijaniem sprawności językowej, ale okazuje się, że interferencja pomiędzy kodem niewerbalnym wyniesionym z kraju ojczystego i kodem typowym dla kraju języka docelowego jest na tyle duża, że powoduje zakłócenia w komunikacji. Na tym polu równie często pojawiają się błędy glottodydaktyczne wynikające z braku świadomości, że ten aspekt porozumiewania się powinien być też nauczany w trakcie zajęć dydaktycznych. Artykuł ten ma zatem na celu wskazanie miejsc, na które należy zwrócić szczególną uwagę w procesie nauczania, by w miarę możliwości ograniczyć problemy komunikacyjne studentów z różnych kultur.
In teaching Polish as a foreign language, it is easy to observe a gap, which covers teaching non-verbal communication. It seems that the acquisition of Polish non-verbal code will be synchronic with developing language fluency, but the interference between the non-verbal code brought from student’s own language and the one he is learning is so immense that it often causes disruption in communication. This is where appear the glottodidactic mistakes resulting from lack of teacher’s awareness of communication issues. The aim of this article is to point out the issues which should be included in the teaching process to reduce communication problems of students from different cultures.

The novel Oblivion (2010) by Sergei Lebedev (born in 1981) - the subject of our analysis - is one of the first literary examples of a new trend in a Russian memorial discourse, so far focused solely on commemorating the victims of the Stalinist regime and ignoring the figures of executioners in a complete silence. By breaking the social and cultural taboos, the writer creates a hero - a former torturer of the regime whose criminal nature is revealed through the practices of a bodily memory. The purpose of this article is to semantically analyse the executioner's body language (i.e., gestures, facial expressions, eyesight,silence). Lebedev's concentration on bodily and physiological aspects makes it possible to unmask a carefully hidden biography of the torturer.
Powieść Granica zapomnienia (2010) Siergieja Lebiediewa (ur. 1981) – przedmiot naszej analizy – to jednen z pierwszych literackich przykładów nowego nurtu w rosyjskim dyskursie memorialnym, dotychczas koncentującym się wyłącznie na upamiętnieniu ofiar rezimu stalinowskiego i pomijającym całkowitym milczeniem postacie katów. Przełamując społeczno-kulturowe tabu pisarz kreuje bohatera – byłego oprawcę rezimu, którego zbrodnicza natura ujawnia się poprzez cielesne praktyki pamięci. Celem artykułu jest analiza semantyczna języka ciała kata (gesty, mimika, wzrok, milczenie). Роман Предел забвения (2010) Сергея Лебедева (р. 1981) – предмет нашего анализа – справедливо можно назвать одним из первых явлений, поспособствовавших открытию новых граней мемориального дискурса в России; доныне сфокусированного прежде всего на увековечении памяти жертв и одновременно полностью замалчивающего авторов насилия. Сделать бывшего начальника лагеря – и ему подобных, спрятавшихся под разными масками и личинами – видимым, значит материализовать его, наделить его тело личным языком, что и заложено в основу идеологической концепции романа.

Opis:
Niniejsza praca jest próbą udzielenia odpowiedzi na pytanie o aktualny stan świadomości językowej profesjonalnych dziennikarzy, a także o wpływ tej wiedzy na kulturę żywego słowa w polskich instytucjach medialnych. W toku badań potwierdzono, iż świadomość językowa diagnozowanych grup jest na raczej niskim poziomie. Uzyskane wyniki ukazują istotny problem w rozwijającym się aktualnie świecie mediów. W swojej pracy wskazuję również na aspekt edukacyjny, albowiem to właśnie na instytucjach medialnych ciąży szczególny obowiązek krzewienia kultury żywego słowa języka ojczystego oraz utrzymywania zasad poprawnej wymowy standardowej polszczyzny. Artykuł porusza zagadnienia, które są istotne przy badaniu poziomu świadomości językowej w aspekcie kultury żywego słowa: omówienie zasad poprawności w wymowie i konstrukcji wypowiedzi, komunikacji międzyludzkiej, mowy ciała, czy emisji głosu.
The aim of this study was to address the question of the current state of language awareness of professional journalists, as well as the impact of this state on the culture of the spoken word in the Polish media institutions. The study confi rmed that the language awareness of the aforementioned diagnosed groups is relatively low. The results obtained show a significant problem in the currently evolving media context. This study also highlights the educational aspect as it is the duty of media institutions to promote the culture of the spoken word of the native tongue. This study covers issues that are relevant when diagnosing the levels of language awareness in terms of the culture of the spoken word. The article contains a discussion on the principles of correct Polish pronunciation and composition, interpersonal communication, body language, or voice production in speech.
