Opis:
The paper presents a numerical analysis of the thermal damage process taking place in biological tissue containing a blood vessel during laser irradiation. The internal heat source resulting from laser irradiation based on the solution of the optical diffusion equation is taken into account. The investigation was concerned with the influence of tissue denaturation and oxygen content in blood on temperature distribution. The analysis of oxygen transport to the tissue is treated as a part of the analysis of thermal damage processes. At the stage of numerical computations, the boundary element method and the finite difference method were used.

Opis:
In the paper, numerical analysis of thermal processes proceeding in a biological tissue is presented. The tissue is subjected to the external heat impulse and a 2D problem is taken into account. In order to determine the influence of variations of thermophysical parameters of the tissue on the value of tissue injury integral and the area of the lesion, a direct approach of sensitivity analysis is applied. The process of thermal injury formation is also analyzed. At the stage of numerical simulation, the boundary element method is used. In the final part of the paper, an example of numerical simulation is shown.

Opis:
In the paper, the problem concerning the numerical modeling of thermal processes in the domain of a biological tissue being in thermal contact with the environment is discussed. The changing ambient temperature causes that the non-steady heat transfer process is con- sidered. The cross-section of the forearm (2D problem) is treated as a non-homogeneous domain in which the sub-domains of skin tissue, fat, muscle and bone are distinguished. From the mathematical point of view, the boundary-initial problem described by the system of energy equations (the Pennes equations), boundary conditions on the external surface of the system, boundary conditions on the surfaces limiting the successive sub-domains and the initial condition is analyzed. At the stage of numerical computations, the Control Volume Method using the Voronoi polygons is applied. In the final part of the paper, examples of computations are shown.

Opis:
In the paper the problems of cryosurgery treatment are discussed. In particular the heat exchange between external cylindrical cryoprobe and human tissue is analyzed. The cryoprobe tip temperature changes from the initial temperature to the minimal one and back in a linear way (broken line). Thermophysical parameters determining the thermal properties of tissue can be treated as the temperature-dependent functions. The freezing model bases on the approach called ‘a one domain method’, and in the energy equation called a substitute thermal capacity appears. At the stage of computations the control volume method (CVM) is used. In the final part of paper the examples of computations are presented.

Opis:
In the paper the burned and healthy layers of skin tissue are considered. The temperature distribution in these layers is described by the system of two Pennes equations. The governing equations are supplemented by the boundary conditions. On the external surface the Robin condition is known. On the surface between burned and healthy skin the ideal contact is considered, while on the internal surface limiting the system the body temperature is taken into account. The problem is solved by means of the boundary element method.

Opis:
Thermal processes in the domain of a human forearm are considered. The external surface of forearm is in the direct thermal contact with the environment. The steady state problem is considered. From the mathematical point of view, the task is described by the system of the Poisson-type equations, the boundary conditions given on the contact surface between tissue sub-domains, the boundary conditions determining heat transfer between blood vessels and tissue and the boundary conditions on the external surface of the system. The non-homogeneous forearm domain is reconstructed as accurately as possible (3D task). At the stage of numerical modelling, the finite element method has been used. In the final part of the paper the example of computations is presented.
