    The article consists of two short parts. The first part explores rather theoretical problems chosen by the author during his current work. Among them is the titular problem – the crucial moment in somebody’s life, with all its consequences. The second part contains the opening excerpt from Bobkowski’s biography recently written by the author. According to the researcher, it sets up the biographer’s tone and the whole approach to the subject. This initial part of the upcoming book entitled The Escape is an example of the implementation of the ‘decisive moment’ concept in practice.

    The article presents a model of personalist biography that stands in opposition to the postmodernist one. The personalist biography model refers in terms of anthropology to Viktor E. Frankl, the founder of logotherapy (‘Third Viennese School of Psychotherapy’) and the key thinkers of the personalist movement: Karol Wojtyła, Mieczysław Krąpiec, Józef Tischner and Czesław S. Bartnik. Stressing the subjective aspect of biography, the personalist model allows for capturing the personal character of the created biographical portrait of a given person while also taking into account the postulates formed by the critics of biographical writing in its traditional and later structuralist forms, especially the postulates related to the requirement of biographer’s objectivity and neutrality. The personalist biography model also takes into consideration the insights of the French theorists on the inevitable involvement of the researcher in the reconstructed picture of a life and the considerations on the character of representation (by F. Ankersmit and M. P. Markowski).

    Opis:
    This article is a proposal of identity research through its process and narrative character. As a starting point I present a definition of identity understood as the whole life process of finding identification. Next I present my own model of auto/biography-narrative research inspired by hermeneutic and phenomenological traditions of thinking about experiencing reality. I treat auto/biography-narrative research as a means of exploratory conduct, based on the narrator’s biography data, also considering the researcher’s autobiographical thought. In the final part of the article I focus on showing the narrative structure of identity and autobiography. I emphasise this relation in definitions qualifying autobiography as written life narration and identity as a narration of autobiography.

    The text synthetically presents the modern theories on creativity and formation of creative attitude. The aspect of environmental factors of creativity which determine the creation of widely understood creative attitude, was slightly more developed. The article contains conclusions from research done in qualitative orientation, with the use of modified biographic-narrative interview method. It is oriented on problematic fields relating to the formation of a creative attitude. The problematics of research aimed at identifying how family and school environment, group activities, significant persons (mentors), media and other factors (especially the most significant ones in the opinions of interlocutors), influenced the formation of creative attitudes of the two artists. In this article two biographic contexts of shaping creative attitude tohether with exo and endogenic factors which determine the course of their life paths are presented. Qualitative research have been done on creative individuals of two different domains of art, which enables to draw the conclusion that the formation of a creative personality is a set of different factors which reinforce the development of its creative attitude in a lifetime. The subject of creativity is very interesting, not only from cognitive, but also from existential point of view. A wish to present the essence of creation and contexts of shaping creative attitudes in order to achieve satisfaction and happiness, was one of my objectives during my biographic research. In some special way, a man who creates has to open himself to the surrounding world and to different and unknown dimensions of himself. Internal factors are neither directives or determinants, but through proper environmental contexts, they can be both reinforced or inhibited and decomposed.

    The article describes the innovative method of qualitative research, Collective Biography Writing (CBW), which is not well known or not known at all in the pedagogical research of the region of Central and Eastern Europe. This method is especially useful in the re-exploration of issues connected with being, becoming, development, and learning in the context of education and pedagogical research. The article presents the theoretical foundations of the CBW method and its basis in the notions of being as emergent within the encounter, intra-action, entanglement of agencies, and the significance of matter.     Biographical approaches are increasingly being used with people who speak and write a range of languages. Even when an account is originally spoken, the final version usually ends up written in the language used by the majority of the population. Researchers have shown that adopting a language that is not the one an account was given in may change how someone is perceived. Yet little has been written by sociologists using biographical approaches about the implications of moving accounts across languages. Researchers within translation and interpretation studies are increasingly tackling issues of representation across languages and developing concepts that can usefully be applied in biographical research. They question the assumption that accounts can be unproblematically transferred across languages and argue for strategies and concepts that “foreignise” texts and challenge the baseline of the target, usually for these writers, English language. However, these concepts bring issues of their own. In this article I examine these developments and give an example from my own cross language research that show that these concepts can begin to open up debates about meaning and representation.

    In the paper the issue of dreams elder people have is discussed. First, definitions of dreams are explained, as day-dreaming and night dreams. The author discusses night dreams, its role in human life, and meaning in culture, especially in Christian religion, mainly the Bible. Then she points to therapeutic role of night dreams discussing in care centers for the elderly. And day-dreaming is important for emotional sphere of human life. Finally the author analyses 31 in-depth interviews conducted by her students with elder people. What where their dreams in the past, when they were children, how dreams changed in their youth, adulthood and what are their dreams now. In the end the author points to the Golden Dream Foundation which helps people to fulfill their dreams and concludes how important it is for the elderly to have a possibility to fulfill their dreams and advance their life quality.

Ukazuje też perspektywę czasu w odniesieniu do fenomenu biografii z jej kontekstem społeczno-kulturowym oraz indywidualnym. Sugeruje ważność podłużnych badań nad czasem w biografii.
    The author reflects on time, in particular in relation to andragogical research carried out with biographical approach. She presents briefly the phenomenon of time in academic reflection. She shows the historical context of biographical studies abroad and in Poland, particularly in andragogy, including those carried out by the Łódź School of Andragogical Research. The author also demonstrates the perspective of time in relation to the phenomenon of biography with its social and cultural as well as individual contexts. She suggests the importance of longitudinal research on time in biography.

    Looking at today’s research practices applied in the area of social sciences one can notice a clear interest in biography. Observation of the lives of individuals, (re)cognition of social micro worlds from the perspective of individual biographies and analysis of and searching for meanings of individual life experiences are the subjects of great interest as well as confidence among researchers. It is also noticeable that researchers, with even greater attention and concern, contemplate the methodological legitimacy and correctness of the projects they carry out. This is especially important when there is a necessity to problematize and further specify the methodological identity of the biographical approach. This text is a voice in the discussion about the types and nature of the so-called biographical research conducted in the area of andragogy. Its starting point is viewing the research that uses biography through the lens of the biographical research perspective, which may adopt at least three forms: biographical approach, auto/biographical approach and autobiographical approach. The considerations revolve around reflections about specifying the individual approaches in relation to certain research projects taking into account the specific role/roles played in them by the researcher-andragogue. The text also addresses the topic of understanding the research process from the perspective of the learning process. The reflections are based on the individual experiences of the researchers acquired during the project in which the auto/biographical approach was applied.
    Przyglądając się współczesnym praktykom badawczym realizowanym w obszarze nauk społecznych, można dostrzec wyraźne zainteresowanie biografią. Obserwacja losów jednostek, (roz)poznawanie mikroświatów społecznych z perspektywy indywidualnych biografii, a także analiza i poszukiwanie znaczeń indywidualnych doświadczeń życiowych człowieka cieszy się dużym zainteresowaniem, ale również zaufaniem wśród badaczy. Można także dostrzec, iż badacze z coraz większą uwagą i rozwagą zastanawiają się nad prawomocnością i poprawnością metodologiczną realizowanych przez siebie projektów, co jest szczególnie ważne w sytuacji konieczności problematyzowania i dookreślania tożsamości metodologicznej podejścia biograficznego. Niniejszy tekst jest głosem w dyskusji na temat rodzajów tzw. badań biograficznych realizowanych w obszarze andragogiki oraz ich istoty. Punktem wyjścia jest postrzeganie badań z wykorzystaniem biografii przez pryzmat biograficznej perspektywy badawczej, która przyjmować może przynajmniej trzy formy. Są nimi: podejście biograficzne, podejście auto/biograficzne i podejście autobiograficzne. Osią rozważań staje się refleksja związana z dookreśleniem poszczególnych podejść w odniesieniu do konkretnych projektów badawczych, z uwzględnieniem specyficznej roli/ról, jaką pełni w nich badacz. W tekście zostaje również zasygnalizowany wątek odnoszący się do rozumienia procesu badawczego z perspektywy procesu uczenia się. Źródłem podejmowanych rozważań są indywidualne doświadczenia badaczek, płynące z realizacji projektu, w którym wykorzystano podejście auto/biograficzne.

    The article is an example of research done with the biographical method within the framework of educational biography. In the text I present the key elements and stages of the applied research procedure (biographical workshops for young adults) and an example of using it in practice (i.e., obtaining qualitative data from written self-narratives, supplementary techniques and the analysis and interpretation carried out by the narrator). The research conclusions highlight the significance of using tasks of this kind in work with young adults. They show the opportunities but also limitations of using the biographical method, which result from the subjects’ young age. They describe a number of functions (including auto-therapy) that help them formulate their own judgements, gain autonomy in making decisions, and the sense of control of their own lives.

    The purpose of this article is to explore the meaning of biographical research in the context of discussions of collective biography to do with the history of andragogy. The typology of biography and the examples of the collective biographies – with particular emphasis on the science of education – is discussed, based observations concerning the methodology of biographical research on general.     Hermeneutics has numerous meanings. One of them is the understanding of it as the art of interpreting spoken or written text. It has also gained the status of methodology within humanistic science. The applications of hermeneutics interpretation to analyse philosophy or literary texts is widely known. The question is whether it may be applied in the research carried out on the ground of empirical science about a human; namely psychology. In psychology, the understanding of a human as ‘projecting existence’ representative for the personal – existential approach, is the closest to the humanistic sciences. Due to these reasons, hermeneutics as understanding methodology may find application in the research on the noetic level of human development which is not subject to biological or environmental determination, being the area where axiological motivation is executed. The historic and contextual conception of developmental experiences by means of the methodology which understands and not only explains human behaviour, allows to discover new areas of functioning of the human psyche. The article also presents the rules applied while making use of hermeneutics interpretation of autobiographical narration on the ground of psychology backed up with their philosophical basis.
    Hermeneutyka posiada wiele znaczeń. Jednym z nich jest jej rozumienie jako sztuki interpretowania tekstu mówionego lub pisanego. Zyskała również status metodologii w zakresie nauk humanistycznych. Znane są zastosowania interpretacji hermeneutycznej do analiz tekstów filozoficznych i literackich. Czy jednak można ją stosować w badaniach prowadzonych na gruncie empirycznej nauki o człowieku jaką jest psychologia? W psychologii najbliższe naukom humanistycznym wydaje się być rozumienie człowieka jako „projektującej się egzystencji”, reprezentatywne dla podejścia personalistyczno-egzystencjalnego. Z tego powodu hermeneutyka jako metodologia rozumiejąca może znaleźć zastosowanie w badaniach nad noetycznym poziomem rozwoju człowieka, który to poziom nie podlega determinacji biologicznej i środowiskowej, stanowiąc obszar realizowania się motywacji aksjologicznej. Historyczne i kontekstowe ujęcie doświadczeń rozwojowych przy pomocy metodologii rozumiejącej, a nie wyłącznie wyjaśniającej ludzkie zachowania, pozwala odkrywać nowe obszary funkcjonowania ludzkiej psychiki. W artykule przedstawione zostały zasady obowiązujące przy stosowaniu hermeneutycznej interpretacji narracji autobiograficznych na gruncie psychologii wraz z ich filozoficzną podstawą.

    This review is a short presentation and an analysis of the book България – страна на розите, published in 2018. The book consists of three parts – a phototypical copy of the first Polish edition of the collective book from 1938, a translation of this edition into Bulgarian language with biographies of the authors of the texts and several studies, dedicated to Metodi Konstantinov (the 1938’s edition editor), to Polish-Bulgarian political and cultural relations in the late 1930s and their local repercussions in Poznań and last but not least – to the language of the first edition and its translation and re-translation. The aim of the publication – to remind the first edition of the book, to make it accessible for Bulgarian readers and to restore the memory about its authors and editors – is thoroughly fulfilled. Moreover, an additional advantage of the book is that it makes its readers more aware of the difference in Bulgarians’ self-representational practices before and after the Second World War.

    The article aims to represent a recently recovered anthology about Bulgaria printed in Poznan, Poland, in 1938. Inspired by Diana Crane’s idea of the invisible colleges the authors retrace the intercommunication within a circle of researchers interested in promoting Bulgaria abroad. The revisited and almost unknown until now biography of the main editor of the book – Metody Konstantinov – is an avenue of approach to the specific paradigm that connects all the participants in the anthology. A short summary of the anthologised articles encompasses several main linguistic problems concerning the retrieving of the texts.

    Wśród wielu opublikowanych badań, społecznych diagnoz i refleksji teoretycznych dotyczących procesu transformacji w Polsce znaleźć można przede wszystkim rozważania dotyczące zmiany ujmowanej z perspektywy makrospołecznej w różnych jej aspektach. Ważnym uzupełnieniem takiego ujęcia badawczego i teoretycznego jest podejście biograficzne ukazujące, jak w doświadczeniu jednostek perspektywa przeszłości, rozumianej umownie/historycznie jako czas sprzed transformacji w 1989 roku, łączy się z perspektywą współczesności, czyli czasu przemian. Pokazanie transformacji przez pryzmat doświadczeń biograficznych, czyli aktorów społecznych, którzy jednocześnie stali się podmiotami, jak i przedmiotami owej zmiany, to jest współtworzyli proces przemian, jednocześnie mu podlegając, daje możliwość wielowymiarowego uchwycenia tego procesu. Artykuł przedstawia zatem korzyści badawczo-teoretyczne perspektywy biograficznej, zawiera krótki komentarz metodologiczny oraz przedstawia jeden z aktualnie realizowanych projektów poświęconych biograficznemu doświadczeniu transformacji.
    The majority of empirical researches, diagnoses, and theoretical analyses regarding Poland’s transformation are constructed from the perspective of macro sociological approach. Biographical research can be treated as an important supplement of this perspective since biographical analysis serves to reconstruct collective processes, to grasp the mutual influence of individual experiences and macro socio-cultural processes of collective change and transition. The article presents main analytical and theoretical advantages of biographical approach in this respect, contains a brief methodological note, as well as characterizes one of the on-going projects based on the biographical experience of transformation.

    Professor Tolkien’s knowledge of his ancestry and the history of his family name was limited to the family legends. The article From Prussia to England. J. R. R. Tolkien’s Family Saga (14th-19thc.) describes Ryszard Derdziński’s ten-years-long research which confirmed that the Tolkien family came to England from Gdańsk in the eighteenth century and that their roots can be tracked down to mediaeval Prussia and the Harz Mountains. The presented findings of Derdziński are based on archival and genealogical research and field research. The author established that Tolkien’s family name comes from Old Prussian (Baltic) etymology and is most probably related to the history of von Markelingerode, a noble family which came to Prussia from the Harz Mountains. Derdziński describes the details of the life of Daniel Gottlieb Tolkien and John Benjamin Tolkien, two brothers from Gdańsk, from whom all English-speaking Tolkiens in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and Australia descent. Furthermore, the author of the article presents a detailed family tree, as well as reproductions of important documents that determine the particular phases of the history of the ancestors of J. R. R. Tolkien.

    Cel badań. Artykuł wpisuje się w obszar problematyki sportu jako rodzaju praktyki społecznej pozwalającej dokumentować ludzkie możliwości przynależne do świata physis. Celem badań – o orientacji jakościowej – stało się odkrycie i opisanie znaczeń przypisywanych miejscom kreowania karier sportowych poprzez rekonstrukcje doświadczeń (sportowych i życiowych) w pryzmacie zróżnicowanych perspektyw czasowych. Materiał i metody. Ponieważ dociekania badawcze wiodły do identyfikacji mechanizmów i prawidłowości towarzyszących nadawaniu sensów miejscom sportowej rywalizacji, przedmiot analizy stanowiły sytuacje w historii karier sportowych mające status zdarzeń centralnych (czyli kształtujących przyszłość bohatera narracji). Przybliżaniu reguł ustaleń analitycznych posłużyła metoda hermeneutyczno-fenomenologiczna, wpisująca się w obszar jakościowej metodologii badań. Poziomami dokonywanej analizy były: tekst – kodowanie zogniskowane – analiza matrycowa (głównych tematów zawartych w danych), wydobywanie struktury głębokiej – scalanie danych w obrębie stanowionej ramy wyjaśniającej. Wnioski. W ostatniej części opracowania wyodrębniono stadion jako „miejsce znaczące”, czyli przestrzeń stymulującą i określającą jednostkowe i społeczne formy sportowej autokreacji w przebiegu kariery sportowej. Animacyjna rola stadionu okazała się dopełniającym elementem uczenia się „w środowisku życia” dla zaspokajania potrzeby przeżywania własnej wartości poprzez sport. Mam nadzieję, że prezentowany tekst stanie się zbieżny z silvermanowskim postulatem wzajemnego uczenia się od siebie w trosce o wzrost świadomości metodologicznej patrzących z zainteresowaniem na jakościowy rodzaj aktywności badawczej.
    Background. Article fits in the area of issues of sport as a kind of social practice allowing to document human abilities belonging to the world of physis. The aim of the research, of qualitative orientation, was to discover and describe the meanings attributed to the places of creating sports careers through sports- and life-related experience reconstruction in the prism of different time perspectives. Material and methods. As the research inquiry led to the identification of the mechanisms and regularities that accompany assigning meanings to places of sports competition, the subject of the analysis were situations in the history of sports careers with a status of central events (i.e. shaping the future of the narration character). The hermeneutic and phenomenological method, belonging to the area of qualitative research methodology, was applied to approximate the rules of analytical determinations. The levels of the performed analysis were: text – focused encoding – matrix analysis (of the main topics contained in the data), extraction of the deep structure – merging the data within the established explaining framework. Conclusions. In the last part of the study, stadium was distinguished as a ‘significant place’, i.e. the space that stimulates and defines individual and social forms of sports self-creation in the course of sports career. The animating role of the stadium proved to be a complementary element of learning ‘in the life environment’ in order to meet the need of experiencing one’s self-esteem through sport. I hope that the text will become convergent with Silverman’s postulate of mutual learning from each other in an effort to increase awareness of the methodological looking with interest at the qualitative type of research activity.

    This text refers to a discussion on the meanings of adult education, but in a special research context. This context is defined by the analyses of non-traditional students’ biographies oriented on exploring their life experiences treated in their justifications as educational. As a consequence, on the basis of their individual justifications I have reconstructed five types of narrations. These are: “I want to reach more than my parents” (1), “Nowadays we have to adapt to the free market and the progress of the civilized world” (2), “The adult person is clever by nature” (3), “I have to give myself a chance” (4), “I want to be aware of that world I am part of” (5). This work results in the unveiling of the qualities of narration schema, which shows the use of learning language by interviewed adults and their learning potential at the same time. What is more, all these narrations show that the social roots of the individual explanations have created the learning potential of adults interviewed. In this way I try to refer to the doubts demonstrated by G. J. J. Biesta (2006, 2010) who says that the economic language of learning adapted in the theory of education caused the question about a good education and its social meaning is neglected. The research presented here shows that the social meanings of learning are still an important issue.
    Niniejszy tekst nawiązuje do dyskusji o znaczeniu uczenia się dorosłych, ale w wyraźnie wyodrębnionym kontekście badawczym. Ów kontekst został zdefiniowany przez analizę biografii nietradycyjnych studentów ukierunkowaną na identyfikację ich indywidualnych doświadczeń życiowych traktowanych przez nich jako edukacyjne. W rezultacie analiza indywidualnych uzasadnień doprowadziła do zidentyfikowania pięciu typów narracji. Są to: „Chcę osiągnąć więcej niż moi rodzice”, „Dziś trzeba dostosować się do rynku pracy i postępu cywilizacyjnego”, „Dorosły z natury jest mądry”, „Muszę dać sobie szansę”, „Chcę być świadomy/a tego w czym uczestniczę”. Projekt ujawnił, że jakość owych narracji wskazuje na sposób użycia języka opisującego uczenie się badanych, a tym samym na potencjał ich uczenia się w ogóle. Co więcej, wszystkie narracje pokazują, że to społeczne korzenie tworzą potencjał indywidualnych możliwości uczenia się badanych. W ten sposób próbuję nawiązać do wątpliwości wyrażanych przez G. J. J. Biestę (2006, 2010), który twierdzi, że ekonomiczny język opisu uczenia się – zaadaptowany przez teoretyków edukacji – spowodował, że pytanie o dobrą edukację i jej społeczne znaczenie jest obecnie pomijane. A – jak pokazują wyniki badań w tym projekcie – społeczne znaczenie uczenia się jest wciąż istotnym zagadnieniem.

    In the first part of the article, the author discusses the phenomenon of change in the contemporary world, with particular emphasis on the professional area in the lives of young adults. The research project was based on an interpretive paradigm. Based on the interpretation of the collected research material, the author presents the sources of professional changes in young adults’ biographies and characterizes the phenomenon of professional change referring to the category of time, scope, and intensity. In the last part she presents the conclusions together with an attempt to make a summary, containing a holistic view of changes in the biography of the members of contemporary society.
    W pierwszej części artykułu autorka prowadzi rozważania dotyczące fenomenu zmiany w kontekście dynamiki współczesnego świata. Przeprowadzony projekt badawczy osadzony został w paradygmacie interpretatywnym. W oparciu o interpretację zgromadzonego materiału badawczego autorka wskazuje źródła zmian zawodowych w biografiach młodych dorosłych i dokonuje charakterystyki zjawiska zmiany zawodowej odwołując się do kategorii czasu, zakresu i intensywności. W zakończeniu przedstawia wnioski wraz z próbą podsumowania, zawierającego holistyczne spojrzenie na zmiany w biografii współczesnego człowieka.

To próba połączenia świata nauki ze światem sztuki. Artykuł wskazuje na możliwość wykorzystania portretów/zdjęć badanych osób do pogłębienia badań biograficznych. W artykule zaprezentowana jest propozycja modelu biografii koherentnej jako rezultat połączenia biografii z narracji (usłyszana od badanych) z biografią z fotografii (stworzona przez odbiorców fotografii – „wyczytana” ze zdjęcia). Jest to pewnego rodzaju eksperyment badawczy, który nie jest procesem zakończonym. Analizowany materiał badawczy pochodzi z badań przeprowadzonych wśród polskich seniorów-imigrantów w Szwecji.
    The aim of the article is to present the methodological possibility of combining the biographical perspectives in the research strategy and to show its cognitive results. It is an invitation to drawing a reflection on the two different views of the world of Polish senior immigrants’ in Sweden – the outlook of a researcher and a photographer. It is a trial of join the world of science with the world of art. The article presents the possibility of using the photos/portraits of researched people to deepen the research and to show the meaning of photography in biographical approach. The paper proposes a model of coherent biography as a result of combination of the biography of narration (heard from the narration) with biography of photo (life history of researched people “read”/created from the portraits by addressees of the portraits). The analyzed data came from research done among a group of Polish senior immigrants in Sweden.

    The article presents a current research state of the Polish and Belarusian historiography of the life and activity of Raman Skirmunt in relation to the recently published book by Alexandr Smalianchuk, Раман Скирмунт (1868–1939). Жыццяпiс грамадзянiна краю (Minsk, 2018). Through the analysis of the monograph’s most important elements and original methods of its writing, the author sheds light on the figure of this outstanding politician of the landed gentry, who, in his love for his country, combined both the Polishness and Belarusness as two integral elements of his personality.

    An in-depth analysis presented in this article concludes that the views and socio-political activities of Wacław Komarnicki were aimed at reasserting the Polish national interest and realizing the idea of the state of law associated with the rule of law. The analysis is based on archival and printed sources and selected literature on the subject. It required the use of appropriate research methods. The biographical method, in conjunction with the content analysis method, proved to be most helpful. Among the research techniques, the analysis of testimonies of political thought proved to be particularly useful.

    Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie jednego ze sposobów uogólniania materiału jakościowego w oparciu o założenia metody wywiadu narracyjnego – ukazanie sensu rekonstruowania struktur procesowych zgodnie z zaleceniami Fritze Schütze w poddawanych analizie narracjach. W opracowaniu zaprezentowane są zrekonstruowane, na podstawie zgromadzonego materiału empirycznego, wzory indywidualnych doświadczeń i przeżyć biograficznych badanych kobiet odnoszących sukcesy zawodowe – struktury procesowe (te wywodzące się z koncepcji F. Schűtze, jak i te zakorzenione w zgromadzonym przeze mnie materiale empirycznym, poprzez co wzbogacam teorię autora).
    The aim of this article is to present one way of generalizing qualitative material based on narrative narrative methods – I show the meaning of reconstructing process structures according to F. Schűtze’s recommendations in narrative analysis. In the paper I present reconstructed, on the basis of collected empirical material, patterns of individual biographical experiences of women who have professional success – process structures (those derived from F. Schűtze’s concept, and those rooted in empirical evidence, thanks to this the author’s concept has been enriched).

    W artykule podjęto próbę wykorzystania metody biografii rzeczy do badań nad zabawką dziecięcą. Celem tekstu jest pokazanie możliwości zastosowania wybranych elementów biografii rzeczy w badaniach historyczno-pedagogicznych nad zabawką dziecięcą. Kwestia ta jest istotna, ponieważ polega na spojrzeniu z innej perspektywy na ową rzecz (przedmiot materialny), która do tej pory w badaniach pełniła rolę tekstu poddawanego analizie zgodnie z założeniami konstruktywizmu. Głównym celem takiego podejścia była rekonstrukcja zabawek i zabaw dziecięcych w różnych okresach historycznych. Wprowadzenie do badań biografii rzeczy pozwoli pokazać linearny ciąg życia zabawki – od jej powstania, poprzez przebywanie w ręku dziecka, czas hibernacji, do jej powrotu do życia. W tekście pokazano przykładowe życie lalki „szrajerki” w tzw. długim trwaniu. Przedstawiono sposób wyrobu przedmiotu, jego cel, rynek zbytu (pierwsze życie zabawki), czas hibernacji oraz drugie życie „szrajerki” jako eksponatu muzealnego, części kolekcji prywatnej i zabawki w ręku dziecka. Ta ostatnia opcja przywraca podstawową funkcję lalki – funkcję ludyczną.
    The article attempts to use the biography of things in order to carry out research on children’s toy. The aim of the text is to show the possibility of using certain elements of the biography of things in historical and pedagogical research on a child’s toy. This issue is important because it makes it possible to look at a toy from a different perspective – as a thing (material object), which, until now, in the research has served as a text that has been analyzed in accordance with the assumptions of constructivism. The main purpose of this approach was the reconstruction of children’s toys and plays in various historical periods. Using the method of the biography of things in the research shall make it possible to present the linear life sequence of a toy - from its inception, through being in the child’s hand, the time of hibernation, until time when the toy returns to life. The text shows an example of the life of the Szrajerka doll in the so-called long period of duration. The author presents the way of producing the object, its purpose, market (the first life of the toy), time of hibernation and the second life of Szrajerka as a museum exhibit, a part of a private collection, or a toy in the hands of a child. The latter option restores the basic function of the doll – a ludic function.

    A question has been addressed, and then partly answered, namely, to what degree Jan Czochralski, an eminent and well-recognized abroad Polish crystallographer, chemist, and metallurgist, also a material (metal) scientist, should, when based on his achievements in research, belong to (physicochemical) metallurgy, or ought to be recognized rather as a (“pure”) chemist, working in a chemical fashion with metals and their impurities-containing alloys. The actual ground for trying to answer the intriguing question, relies on the fact that he performed his research entirely within physicochemical, or speci- fically, mechanochemical metallurgy of complex as well as very practical material systems that he was able to resolve successfully by his treatments. Its has been attempted to show that his type of research should be described as interdisciplinary, thus, being synergistically intermingled amongst a few cross- disciplines of technological and basic research. Astonishingly, his historical-context sensitive life, can also be viewed as the one being well networked amongst many areas of his activity, drawing him as inventor, university professor, owner, investor, art supporter, philanthropist, as well as some truly modest poetry author, or finally, husband and father of three children.
    W pracy tej postawiono sobie pytanie, na które udzielono częściowej odpowiedzi, a mianowicie: do jakiego stopnia należałoby uważać postać Jana Czochralskiego, wybitnego i powszechnie znanego polskiego krystalografa, chemika oraz metaloznawcę, a także materiałoznawcę – jeśli posiłkować się jego dokonaniami naukowo-badawczymi – jako przedstawiciela metalurgii fizycznej (fizykochemicznej) lub traktować go jako („czystego”) chemika, pracującego zgodnie z arkanami tej dyscypliny z metalami i ich zawierającymi domieszki i/lub zanieczyszczenia stopami? Rzeczywista podstawa do sformułowania odpowiedzi na tak zadane intrygujące pytanie polega na tym, że badacz wykonywał z sukcesem swoje badania naukowe głównie na styku obszarów metaloznawstwa, gdzie kontekst fizykochemiczny przenika się z jego mechanicznym, ale również chemicznym odpowiednikiem, co podkreśla złożoność badanych przez niego układów, mających bardzo duże znaczenie praktyczne. Dokonano próby pokazania, że tak zaprojektowany typ badań powinien zostać opisany jako typ badań interdyscyplinarnych, w których manifestuje się synergizm poszczególnych (sub)dyscyplin, kształtujących te badania. Co zadziwiające, życie tego badacza w ówczesnym kontekście historycznym może stanowić gotowy zapis złożonego w swej naturze scenariusza, zawierającego sieć skomplikowanych wzajemnych połączeń jego indywidualnych aktywności życiowych, wskazujących na przyjmowanie przez niego wielu życiowych ról, jak choćby roli wynalazcy, profesora uniwersytetu, właściciela dóbr materialnych, inwestora, mecenasa sztuki, filantropa, jak również prawdziwie skromnego autora poezji czy też wreszcie męża i ojca trójki dzieci.

    Opis:
    Against the backdrop of an increasing interest in visual methods in social research, this paper examines some theoretical foundations of human (inter-)action by reflecting on the interplay between senses, the body, and biography. The main purpose of the paper is to combine an integral, non-Cartesian concept of the self as body (respectively the lived body as self) with biographical research—thus enriching research on the body, as well as on biography. Criticizing the Cartesian split of body and mind, classical phenomenological (Leib) and recent concepts of the body (“embodiment”) are sketched, resulting in a processual model of the sensual construction of the lived and living body in its environment. Given the interplay of bodily foundations of the self and processes of biographical structuring, so far, distant fields of research are converged. Some suggestions for conceptual improvements, an attentional shift to body aspects, respective research topics, and the extension of methods exceeding the narrative biographical interview in biographical research are indicated.

    Chociaż hrabia Władysław Zamoyski wzbudzał w ostatnich kilku dziesięcioleciach zainteresowanie historyków, owocujące artykułami i pracami popularnonaukowymi, nadal nie doczekał się wyczerpującej naukowej monografii. Jej opracowanie będzie dla przyszłego autora zadaniem trudnym. Liczne i rozproszone materiały źródłowe oraz długa, ponad czterdziestoletnia, działalność społeczna, gospodarcza i w mniejszym zakresie polityczna hrabiego w zaborze pruskim, Galicji, wśród emigracji polskiej we Francji, a także w pierwszych latach II Rzeczypospolitej – wymagają opisania w kontekście historycznym i co za tym idzie, posiadania szerokiej wiedzy pozaźródłowej. Oś narracji przewijającą się przez wszystkie rozdziały biografii powinna stanowić droga prowadząca do utworzenia przez Zamoyskiego w 1924 roku Fundacji „Zakłady Kórnickie” – największego dzieła jego życia. Pożądane byłoby szerokie ukazanie nie tylko działalności hrabiego na terenie Galicji, w Zakopanem i roli w słynnym sporze o Morskie Oko, ale również słabiej dotąd zbadanego i mniej znanego udziału hrabiego w polsko-niemieckiej walce o ziemię w zaborze pruskim w końcu XIX i na początku XX w.
    Although in recent decades Count Władysław Zamoyski has been attracting a lot of interest on the part of historians, which resulted in numerous papers and popular science works, he has not yet been the subject of an exhaustive scientific monograph. Its preparation is, however, going to be a difficult task for its future author. The many dispersed source materials and the Count’s more than 40 years long social, economic, and to a smaller extent political activity under the Prussian partition, in Galicia, among the Polish emigrants in France and during the first years of the Second Polish Republic – need to be described in the historical context, and, what follows, call for broad knowledge extending beyond these sources. Zamoyski’s path leading to his establishment in 1924 of the foundation ”Zakłady Kórnickie” – his life’s grandest work – should constitute the narrative axis weaving through all the chapters of his biography. It would be desirable to present extensively not only the Count’s activity in Galicia, Zakopane and his role in the famous dispute on Morskie Oko, but also his less researched and less known participation in the Polish-German fight for land in the Prussian partition in the late 19th and early 20th century.
